They have him! A handful of concerned citizens have taken justice into their own hands. Enough with the monsters, murders, and the countless missing - this evil cannot continue to rule Balar.
They have their man locked up. Now they just have to wait for their benefactor to exact justice. But all is not as it seems, for the prisoner has several stories to tell. Will he prove his innocence, or will his words turn his captors against each other?
The final series of short stories set in the cursed town of Balar. This sets up the three novels to follow. Are you brave enough to return to Balar?
Marcel M du Plessis is an author of literary fiction, horror, fantasy, and satire. He has worked as an editor, teacher, and content creator. He adores all things classical (music and movies) and all things nerdy (something with a controller or something with a set of dice). Good stories mean everything to him and he hopes to entertain and surprise you.
I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Evil is the third installment in the Balar series, and sets up the next three novels. This was a solid 4.5 stars for me. Out of the three, this was definitely my favorite. I had a few moments of sheer “WHAT IS HAPPENING” in the best way. The dark and gritty short stories keep you on your toes, and you are easily pulled into the corruption and despair of Balar. I really enjoyed this read heading into Halloween, and I can’t wait to see how the series continues!
I just love this series! This is the third installment of the series, and it may be my favorite book in the series so far. When I first started reading, I was confused because there was so much happening, but then it slowly started to unravel, and I was able to piece everything together. There are so many layers to this book, and you have to pay attention closely or else you might miss something. Such a great series and this is a great time of the year to read it. I love the dark gothic atmosphere the author creates. It is a thought-provoking mystery and this book, in my opinion, is the meat of the series and where everything starts to click and make sense. The many secrets of Books 1 and 2 are revealed! I highly recommend this series, and I can’t wait to see what follows.
Thank you so much to the author for an advanced reader copy. I am voluntarily leaving a review, and all thoughts are my own.
I am excited for everyone to read this! Many of the secrets and mysteries set up in the first two books are revealed here.
Were you right about who the killer is? What's the deal with the blue trinkets? What does the cursed water do? What is the true goal of the Cult of Wax? Find the answers to these questions (and many more) in book 3, the Evil of Balar.
I have already started work on book 4 and 5. I am also working on two new series. Hopefully, you will join me on other adventures.
Please let me know what you think of this book. Your feedback means everything to me.
