Daniel Garrison Brinton (1837-1899), was an American M.D. and surgeon in the Union army; became professor of ethnology and archaeology in the Academy of Natural Sciences in Philadelphia in 1884; and was professor of American linguistics and archaeology in the University of Pennsylvania from 1886 until his death.
Very short, a brief introduction to anthropology, chiefly interesting because it dates back to when anthropology was a fairly new field of study, so you get both an idea what is was like to introduce a new field of study and also how much has changed since then in terms of how people think about some of these subjects (particularly as to study of "races")
This is a paper on how Anthropology should be broken down into sections and taught in schools. It is very informative and a wonderful study piece. I found it educational and even got a few points on how to direct some of my studies.
