Clarissa and Toby, her dog are out for a walk when she spies something in the window of a store. She sticks her head in to see if she could bring her dog in. He doesn't wait but walks in when he sniffs a sandwich. Eventually she buys the teapot. At home she leaves it in the kitchen and there Toby and Sal, he rat bestie, decide to wash it. Bad idea!!! After bearing the anger of Clarissa he hides out in his doghouse. He figures he needs a job to earn money. He considers himself a decent detective but according to Sal it might interfer with DC Ed, Clarissa's boyfriend. EEP! He decides he could be a ghost hunter, a Spectral exorciser extraordinaire! But how will anyone understand him? Then he finds a magazine that advertises a talkaphone which will change animal speech into English. And thus begins Toby's journey into the ghost hunting business!
How will he do? Will Sal help him? Or will Clarissa have to come to his aid?
A fantastic and funny story that keeps the reader entertained!!.

Allow two days (or a very long one) for the clean, contemporary, heartwarming, laugh-out-loud, paranormal, fantasy, cozy-mystery, tale of Toby the spellbound hound trying to make amends for breaking Clarissa's expensive, newly purchased teapot in Sun Valley, England during November involving best-friends, betrayal, a demon, ghosts, humor, magic, murder, mystery, romance, 340 pounds, sammiches, died-a-beetles, Ye Compleat Compendium of Curious Hexes, auto-no-knees, Arthur-eye-tis, the remote, hedgehogs in bikinis, snicky-snacks, a Translataphone, a mini electroquadero, SpookMart.Net, a translataglobalpaymachine, a TBR mountain, pawssistant Sal, bit late for an am-blee-unce, a cheese consultant, self-soothing, cheese, lost dignity, demotion to napkins, opportunity brrrr-rings, vindictive bees, winter of discount tents, a legend in his own lunchtime, pawtential, heart, salmonella, skillz, a spider, chutney, a side hustle, paperwork, a stale crumpet, futile resistance, and audacity with a side of citrus.

When Toby the spellbound hound breaks Clarissa’s new teapot, he decides he needs to earn money to replace it. Inspired by an 80s movie, Toby adds ghostbusting to his resume. Roping in a reluctant Sal and armed with an assortment of gadgets, they take their first case. But instead of trapping a ghost, they find a dead body. Summoning a ghost detective as a mentor, Toby is determined to set things right. Can this motley crew discover who is behind this crime?

Toby, the wizarding detective, canine division, returns in another fast paced and funny mystery. Clarissa’s credit card gets a workout as Toby attempts to earn money by spending more. The gadgets are ingenious with the translator letting Toby communicate with those that aren’t witches. Buck, the American ghost gumshoe, was a delight as he exasperated Ed. Sal the rat is always fun and I enjoyed his reunion with Hedda the hedgehog. The mystery had plenty of twists and a satisfying ending. I can’t wait to see what’s next for my favorite terrier-whippet-thingie and his hooman.

Ghostbarkers - a review by Rosemary Kenny.

Starring your favourite spellbound hound, Toby, his nervous sidekick Sal the rat and ghostly newcomer, Buck the gumshoe, Jeannie Wycherley's Ghostbarkers promises to be both a laugh-fest and a rather more serious murder-mystery. It all starts with a broken teapot, continues with the inauguration of the eponymous investigators for hire, in order to pay for said teapot's replacement and culminates in Clarissa's 4-legged best friend helping her policeman boyfriend, Ed, to save the day, in a harum-scarum way that somehow produces an unexpectedly satisfying result.

Ms. Wycherley's writing style is conversational and casual. Her likeable and interesting characters develop at a good rate and gain more depth as the series continues. Her fast paced, funny and intriguing story lines do a good job setting the foundations from which all her series are build with seamless blendings of the old with the new. There's plenty of intrigue and suspense with twists you just don't see coming sometimes. The original reviews can be found under the individual books.

Spellbound Hound Magic and Mystery Series:
GHOSTBARKERS, #10 - Funny. Silly. Sal is at his best while Toby tries to make up for his mistake. An interesting and fun w as y to relax. Source: Booksprout. 4*

AIN'T NOTHING BUT A POUND DOG, #1 - What a fun book, after you get past the sad start. The storylines are intriguing and I see where this will be an interesting, entertaining and witch-filled series. I enjoy the rapport between the granddaughter and the spellbound dog. Their actions, dialog and love for each could not be better written. I do picture the Pointy Woman as the Wicked Witch of the West; my interpretation, no flying monkeys mentioned. I do like that Toby is not a smart mouth but a sweet, intelligent dog. The police officer is a lovely addition to the characters and I find him very likeable. Plenty of emotion, humor and intrigue, the perfect mix to keep the reader immersed in the pages. Sadly, the book does end but book two is coming out soon. No cliffhanger, just a continuation of a series similar to the Wonky Inn Series. 5*

A CURSE, A COVEN AND A CANINE, #2 - This story picks up the old storylines while blending in the new. The characters are developing, the intrigue is mounting and the suspense is building. I love that one of my favorite characters from the Wonky Inn Series plays a substantial role. Mable is a lovely character and more talking animals join in the foray. While not a cliffhanger, the next book is set up. The talented author's storytelling with her vivid descriptions along with her intelligent characters and dialog make this well thought out story had to put down. Lovers of the Wonky will enjoy this series, too. I contacted the author to review her books and received this book through Booksprout. 4*

BARK SIDE OF THE MOON, #3 - For me the story took a while to kick into gear, which it finally did and did not slow down. More characters, more secrets and more adventures made this an intriguing story with Karma doing her bit. Still well written, well thought out and full of a variety of characters, which when mixed with this talented storyteller's ability to describe her world made an interesting read. Source: Booksprout. 4*

GRIMLY FIENDISH, #9 - I missed several books but found this book easy to slip into and follow. Mable is trip, I love her. Source: Booksprout. 4*

Ghostbarkers was so much fun! Toby and Sal are hilarious; even though they are trying to be so business serious. I can’t believe these two. The gadgets that Toby ordered, with Clarissa’s credit card, (unknown to her) actually work! The translator/pay machine was the best! Then we have a new entry, Buck. He’s the bane of Ed’s existence. Definitely an American New York detective and super aggressive and abrasive, but what common relief he brings! Then we have Clarissa. The titles for the article she wants to write about the slime ghost…perfection and laugh out loud! The next book sounds like it’s going to just as much fun too. Can’t wait!.

So, Ghostbarkers is absolutely delightful. It was fun getting to read about Toby's new ghost detective agency, although I suppose I should really just call it a paranormal detecting agency. In this book, he has to deal with all sorts of creatures, all the while working to solve the death of a chutney seller who was locked in a freezer in his business. I enjoyed seeing the nods to Ghostbusters, of course (including the cover!), and there was a sweet moment during a performed séance that I especially appreciated. Such a cute series!.

This is a fun easy to read paranormal murder mystery staring the loveable spell bound hound Toby. Toby gets in trouble, as usual, with his "hooman" Clarissa which leads him to start a ghostbusting business. His sidekick Sal, a rat, joins him in this new venture and causes more havoc on every outing. There are lots of humorous scenes and several interesting characters including ghosts. I love the author's imagination and story telling talent. I recommend this book and this series.

I really want a dog just like Toby!! When he and Sol accidently break Clarrisa's new teapot, Toby starts the Gostbarkers - a ghost exorcising company - to raise the money to replace it.
Buck materialises, and is determined to help. When Herbet is discovered frozen in his own freezer, Toby, Sol and Buck are determined to help Ed solve the murder! So many twists - and smiles! Loved it!.

Who Ya Gonna Call?

Toby, the talking dog, has decided that he needed a job ... to pay for an expensive item which he broke - and that ghost-busting is perfect for a dog and rat duo. The problem is ... ghost-busting needs expensive equipment also. What's a dog to do? Maybe he could rob a bank - or provide stud services for lonely poodles - he's bound to think of something.

I received this novel as an advanced reader's copy, but my ratings are never contingent upon the price I paid.

This storyline is so good, it's very unique and the characters are amazing. I love the idea of a talking dog opens a ghost hunting business - so hilarious. The imagination behind this series is unrivaled. The whole series is great, not a bad story in the whole batch. Will definitely watch for all books from this author.

Fun, whimsical, magical, cozy mystery with bantering animals with grand personalities.
A dog with a redemption plan, wanting to repay the losses and manage more expenses. How successful will his latest venture be, and in the middle, a murder case to solve. With so many involved, it was interesting to find out who would discover the murderer.

A Spellbound Hound mystery that’s as busy as it is dizzy heights and giving frights. Spooky goings on and things are getting murky and all. No pretence this is real ya know. Surreal even and when a ghost banished gets called in. Well you just know that’s not happening.Toby ,pet detective extraordinaire is exemplary if he does woof so himself so there. His pal Sal the rat has his back ,perhaps as a reward they pay him in snacks..
An awesomely immersive lose yourself read from Jeannie Wycherley. The bees knees . In fact . Great writing and the subject is both humorous and a great plot

This was an absolutely delightful story! I had my doubts about the equipment Toby ordered, but was pleasantly surprised when they actually worked! He is definitely growing in skills. I loved that he solved several ‘hauntings’ and even a murder! I loved the epilogue too. That brought a smile to my face!
