DREAD Tales of Authentic Vampires and Werewolves

Vampires and werewolves have been softened by modern fiction—reimagined as tragic anti-heroes or misunderstood outsiders. But in the original legends, there is no romance, no sympathy—only terror.

Dread Souls revives the savage horror of the authentic vampire and the true werewolf. Within these pages are nineteen chilling accounts, plucked from historical records and retold in vivid modern English. These are not the creatures of gothic love stories, but relentless predators of flesh and blood—demonic manifestations of hunger, cruelty, and murder.

Unearth the terrifying roots of these enduring nightmares and step into a world where the dead do not rest, and the beast within knows no mercy.

The author stated that his intentions for Dread Souls was to 'redress the balance and rediscover the essence of the authentic vampire and the genuine werewolf.' He has done this admirably. Each tale he narrates is told well and Michael H Kelly brings them alive. His narration whether meant or otherwise changes somewhat throughout the book from early 20th century to the modern day.

Some tales will have your toes curling up. Overall, it is a well written piece of work with some interesting cases, my favourite is The Highgate Vampire.

Looking for a perfect campfire story?
True horror stories, vampires and werewolves,
how can you possibly go wrong?
Only if you choose not to read this.

About halfway through, I had to make myself
slow down reading this, because I wanted to
savour every last tidbit.
I literally only read one short chapter at a time,
painstakingly (staking) enjoying every word.

Terrifying, very carefully chosen words
to get you so involved in every story,
and breathe life, creating a world
of every story, with utmost respect
to the authenticity of the tales being told.

For anyone looking for a spooky book,
a book on vampires and werewolves,
this is an absolute MUST have!

Could not have enjoyed it more,
and I will most definitely be
reading this in October!!!
