Kate Daniels [Dramatized Adaptation]

Small Magics [Dramatized Adaptation]

Rate this book
An irresistible compilation of five previously published stories by the NYT bestselling author of the Kate Daniels series; including Kate’s very first meeting with Saiman, some related adventures, two unforgettable “outside” excursions, and additional material from both Curran and Jim’s point of view.

A QUESTIONABLE CLIENT

In this ‘intro’ to the Kate Daniels world, we meet the extremely ‘shifty’ Saiman for the very first time, when Kate takes on the task of serving as his bodyguard to protect him from some very determined—and dangerous—Russian wizards.

RETRIBUTION CLAUSE

Saiman’s cousin, Adam—a frost giant and also an insurance adjuster—and his enigmatic partner, Siroun, set out on an impossible mission to enforce a client’s Retribution Clause; that is, to kill the person who killed her. But is their target even guilty? Magic and mayhem and a little personal chemistry will reveal the truth!

OF SWINE AND ROSES

A young adult story about a girl, a pig, some magic, and the worst date ever.

Chad Thurman is a thug, who carries brass knuckles in both pockets and lays magic traps for intruders into "his" neighborhood. The last thing Alena Kornov wants to do is to go on a date with him. But when her family pressures her, she can't say no. Now the ice-cream is absent, the pig is running for its life, and we won't even mention the dead guy...

GRACE OF SMALL MAGICS

Grace has always known she wasn’t like everyone else and that her family has magic abilities. After flying to meet the head of Clan Dreoch in order to fulfill her families’ “duties” as servants, Grace finds herself in the middle of a mage clan war…

MAGIC TESTS

A short story in the Kate Daniels universe. Kate recruits her teenage ward, Julie, to search out a missing student whose location spell has her hidden somewhere on campus…

CURRAN POV

Everybody has a point of view…especially Curran Lennart, Beast Lord of the Free People of Atlanta—and Kate Daniel’s mate. Here’s what Curran was thinking while Kate was kicking butt and taking names from Magic Bites to Magic Bleeds.

Adapted from the stories and produced with a full cast of actors, immersive sound effects and cinematic music!

Ilona Andrews is the pseudonym for a husband-and-wife writing team. Ilona is a native-born Russian and Gordon is a former communications sergeant in the U.S. Army. Contrary to popular belief, Gordon was never an intelligence officer with a license to kill, and Ilona was never the mysterious Russian spy who seduced him. They met in college, in English Composition 101, where Ilona got a better grade. (Gordon is still sore about that.)

Gordon and Ilona currently reside in Oregon with their two children, three dogs and a cat. They have co-authored two series, the bestselling urban fantasy of Kate Daniels and romantic urban fantasy of The Edge.

This entire compilation is full of fantastic stories. Curran’s POV from the Unicorn Lane meeting with Kate is perfection. No notes. And the story with Curran and Julie was so emotional 🥹

Graphic Audio continues to impress.

Small Magics Dramatized Adaptation (Kate Daniels) by Ilona Andrews This is a repeat--sort of. First time for the dramatized adaptation of this collection of short stories. Many are set in the authors' Kate Daniels world, others are standalones. All of them are excellent. The voice actors made all the stories come to life. FYI, love the grocery lists. Just sayin'...

Basic Premise: A bunch of shorts, most set in the Kate Daniels world.

Some of these were new, but many were part of other KD universe books. I knew this going in, so I wasn't surprised by it. It's nice to have all the short pieces collected together in one spot. The new pieces were interesting and added to the world, if not to the specific Kate story. I enjoyed the new pieces enough to consider the purchase well worth it.

⭐3 - it was okay
Narrators:

This is a collection of different stories. Some I enjoyed some not so much.
Curran will always ruin a story for me. He is such a douchenozzle and being in his head did not endear him to me. So this is fully a Me-Problem.

Love the GA treatment. All of these are great except for some reason the Retribution Clause left me bored and waiting for it to end. I'm not sure why.

Very nice compilation of Kate Daniels stories - and some outside of Kate's realm but within the universe. Curran's POV always cracks me up - the actor truly embodies him

Every single word, sigh, laugh, grrrr, and hiccup within these short stories in the Kate Daniel world vibrate with all the above and more. The writing sparkles, characters jump off the page and plots create havoc to challenge and conquer. And this is just with the written word. GraphicAudio takes Ilona Andrews' novels (and in this case, short story anthology) and throws it hooting and hollering into our world. Superb in every way.
