Ain't No Voice But Mine Now...
HUSHBONE: A Southern Gothic Tale

4 stars. In Whistler's Ridge, 1873, the forest was silent on the night of the binding. Four men gathered in the stone chamber beneath St. Michael's Church...
Their lanterns lit up the skeletal beams...
It was an unholy place. The pastor held a worn Bible. Three other men, including a doctor, were with him...
They're coming...
Do not listen to its words. Show no fear...
After the ritual, they sealed the chamber. Now, only solid stone stood between the book and the world...
The church above both sanctuary and prison...
The chamber must never be opened. If the book escapes again, it will be hungrier. And so it remained chained below on an altar...
Fast forward to 2023...
A severe rainstorm was expected for Whistler's Ridge with high winds. By midnight, the town was in darkness...
Inside St. Michael's Church, the old building groaned as it was battered by winds and rain...
Then...
A thunderous crack displaced air somewhere. An ancient pine toppled tearing the building apart, leaving a jagged hole in the floor...
Revealing an unknown chamber below...
When word spread of the hole in the church floor, four teens planned to meet later that night to check it out...
One of the teens found an old book bound in chains and unknowingly unleashed an evil entity called Whispering Jack...
Ain't no voice but mine now...
This was a very good book that I stumbled upon on Kindle Unlimited. Before the night was over, Whispering Jack wreaked havoc on the town. What was really enjoyable was the dialog between Whispering Jack and the people he came across throughout the story.
The story lost a star because the last 10%, IMHO, was unnecessary. You gotta know when to hold 'em.

In the small southern town of Whistler's Ridge beneath the large church on the hill A evil has been contained for many years by the locals. now with A large storm setting down on the town it disturbs its resting place. now Tully Grady and Sawyer local kids have to see inside this and sneak in on a night time adventure only to find and take something that should not be. setting off a long time curse called the Hushbone [Whisperin' Jack ] A fun small town Southern Gothic Tale

Loved the storyline of this book, the twist and turns kept me on the edge of my seat. The author kept me intrigued throughout the story telling process. I would definitely recommend reading this book. Looking forward to reading more from this author.

David had reached out to me and asked if I would give his books a read. And boy am I glad I did.
This book kept me on the edge of my seat and speed reading like no other, trying to chase the whispers to see how it would end.
