1787: An American Frontier Tale

Rate this book
This sweeping saga will transport you to the period following the Revolutionary War, during the westward expansion beyond the Appalachian Mountains. Under the Articles of Confederation, the United States government was weak and deeply in debt, with a minuscule standing army. Most European nations did not expect the fledgling country to survive. At the same time, Lenape, Miami, and Shawnee leaders formed an alliance to fight the growing American encroachment. Enter into this scenario a group of military veterans and their families, with deep roots in the indigenous culture, who wish to make a new life in the wilderness of northern Kentucky and live in peace. They are led by Paul Larsh, a frontiersman of the old order, heartsick over the loss of his beloved wife, Alice. But the path to Kentucky will not be easy or straightforward, as the challenges of nature, man, and disease await. Paul, who unexpectedly finds love again along the way, will be tested physically and morally like never before in an odyssey that will resonate throughout the pages.

A thrillingly Historic Story

I am a descendant of Lynde family that were a part of the American revolution so I was excited to get into this story. This historic tale about passion and fierce men protecting their land and families at a difficult time. The cadence of the story is perfect as we journey with the lives of these family members through all three books. The story is well written and you feel like you are apart of these scenes. The achievements, loss, challenges, love, and survival. These emotions make this a great read!
