DNF-ed at 34% I just wasn't feeling this book. Actually from the minute I started reading it and then I read this sentence: “Dominance and submission was all about humiliation.” This really bothered me, because it's not... But I still continued as I'm always resistant to DNF-ing and it is a fifth book in a series where I really liked the other books. However, once I got to a certain BDSM scene and still didn't feel even a hint of emotional about it I knew it was time to throw in the towel.
There are too many books to be read and life is too short to keep reading a book that I'm not feeling at all.
I checked and ... I got to 51% of this book but ... DNFing it because it's so ... well it's been a while - but the whole BDSM/submissive thing like - WTAF He's just "find me one" which ... I guess? But then she's had zero experience or knowledge and [I think he just has her sign a contract ... I can't remember if she even read it but I KNOW they didn't discuss it - AT ALL] and then he's all "in order to be a submissive you have to be shared/that's just what is done.
... No?
There were just a lot of consent issues/concerns and it didn't read like BDSM/an actual BDSM relationship so much as someone who just wrote what they think? [This probably was extra noticeable cuz I'd just read a Joey W. Hill book...]
There were just too many problems to keep reading, especially with such a massive TBR
This was a miss for me. I wanted a BDSM read and this was not it. It severely misrepresents BDSM. When a sub is discussing rules and limits and safe words, a dom should not just shrug it off. BDSM is not, you do what I say when I want. It’s a partnership with lots of trust involved. I also really didn’t like the fact that her roommate was assaulting his coworker and getting off on it. If a person doesn’t want to come out for whatever reason, it is their right. It was just really disgusting to me. Just looking at it at unrealistically, it was fine I guess but BDSM I’d already misunderstood so I have a hard time looking the other way when authors get it very wrong.
Kink and BDSM are completely customizable. As long as the parties are adults and consenting to everything mutually, let your freak fly! This book was not my brand of kink (reading the blurbs from previous books in the series, shows me this author is not for me). Too many switches for my liking, the seemingly binary choices of sexuality, and Monica is an unreliable narrator.
For someone who worked for a guy for 5 years there was very little relationship or warmth. Not sure I got the dynamics but didn’t find any charisma in either character and felt immature at times.
This was not what I expected. Don’t want to spoil it but there was a scene I was like, oh, ok, didn’t see that coming. I liked that she went for what she wanted. I like that he finally stopped denying his feelings.
Pretty good entry in the West Coast series. This one veered too far into perfect Dom, perfect sub, perfect wealth, perfect bodies, sex-has-never-been-so-good. Enjoyable, kinky.
So, Mr. Sutton is pretty creepy and comes across as prissy much of the time, what with all those "my dears" and his preoccupation with women's clothing. He's also a real jerk...Monica has been working for him for 5 years, during which time she is required to travel. In all that time, when she is out of town for work, she pays for her own meals rather than her employer pick up the tab, which pleases Sutton immensely. He also throws jealous fits like a 7th grade girl. I guess I just don't see the attraction. And his name is RANCE ... short for rancid? This book is not erotica, as I thought it might be in the beginning, just a very raunchy romance, complete with a sappy ending. BDSM elements are mild despite Rance's big talk. Toward the end, the book gets unintentionally comical, with ol' Mr. Sutton demonstrating physiological superpowers.
I thought this was going to take me a little to warm up to as I missed the negotiation of a D/s relationship. In other books it seems to build trust but I can see how letting situations unfold can add to the suspense. I really didn’t want to put this book down. Unlike any other story I’ve read and I was so pleased with the ending. I was left with warm fuzzy feelings.
Wow the setup scenes in this book were astounding. The adjectives and verbs used made you feel like you just might be in that room. Only oneish weird couple of pages where they were at a dinner and a few side characters got up from the table and had an altercation and it really went nowhere, but yes to this book.
Great story. Loved Rance and Monica's story. Great BDSM scenes. Hot hot hot. The D/s and power exchanges were well written. Can't wait to read more stories by Jasmine Haynes.
Over the top sleazy, filth and totally enjoyable! Love all the main characters. Even the cameo parts are fleshed out a bit. And the ode to friendship between Monica and Sean is touching, charming and had me laughing out loud!
Very naughty couldn't have put it down if I wanted to,it put you into the scene where you belonged, can't wait to read the other books in this fantastic thread.
This was an ok read, a boss to lovers romance with a lot of BDSM scenes in it. The characters were ok there had chemistry but for me it missed something 3 1/2⭐️
I finished it, but it was just okay. The characters were a bit one dimensional and the plot was so on genre. Easy to read and follow with a HEA as well.
3.5 stars, this book was everything i wanted but it does end slightly abruptly. An auto-buy author for me, especially for this series and these prices, this was one of my favorites in this series of books. I think book1 is my all-time favorite where hotwifing was explained to me for the first time and i was convinced that there is something quite erotic about the idea of a man feeling his power through watching, sharing and other kink. This book is so unashamedly kinky and so are the characters, they were perpetually horny and i loved it. A great addition to this series, but not re-read worthy as the first book.
This is one dirty dirty book. This is a fun book to read and should not be taken too serious of.
It is corny, it is dirty, it is sexy, it has dominating male who is over-the-top and a submissive lady who is over-the top with her lack of back-bone. Issues like this normally would totally irritated the crap out of me, but I remembered this book isnt trying to be serious, it is suppose to be fun, frivolous and nasty is a fun way.
Been wanting to read this book for a few years now trying to find a free copy somewhere but couldn't..Read the series this book was right in line with the other West Coast books. Wanted more at the end nice to read about the other couples from the other books
