About the author

Leila Khaled is a Palestinian refugee and member of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine. Khaled came to public attention for her role in the TWA Flight 840 hijacking in 1969 and one of the four simultaneous Dawson's Field hijackings the following year as part of the campaign of Black September in Jordan.

This was a really raw account, and I especially appreciated the discussion about the morality of hijacking for example (even as Khalid was hours away from hijacking the planes).

I think more and more I appreciate the honesty with which female leftists call out their male comrades, while still holding so much love and understanding for their struggles.

The discussion about male comrades really highlights, broadly, little male leftist accounts navigate and struggle with gender dynamics. And honestly, accounts like Khalid’s really help call me out in ways that I appreciate (not just regarding gender).
