Krijese Warlords #1

Claimed by the Krijese

Rate this book
Kala

All Krijese have known is war. Between battles and the disease that ravaged our population, we have almost ceased to exist. Which is why when newcomers—humans—arrived on our planet, my people stole many of their females to breed. None survived.

I crave nothing for my kit but to live in peace. After a small group of us left our former tribe and created a new village, we have allied with our former enemies to achieve that peace. But then Sorin meets Iris, a human female newly arrived on our planet, and becomes fascinated with her.

He makes no secret of his desire to bring the two of us together. But I cannot give him what he wants—or what I secretly desire—because it is too dangerous for her.

Iris

All I’ve ever wanted is for people to see me. It’s not until I leave Earth for an alien planet and meet a little boy who belongs to a local tribe that I am.

Then I meet Sorin’s father. After hearing how their species murdered humans, he terrifies me. The more I’m around them, though, the more I realize my fears are unfounded.

When Kala offers me a mating of convenience and what may be my only chance at becoming a mother, I accept. Before long, it’s not just the child I want, but also his father. Now I have to convince him love is worth any risk.

Sexual Tension: ⚡⚡⚡⚡
Romance: 💞💞💞💞
Sensuality: 💋💋💋💋
Sex Scene Length: 🍑🍑🍑🍑
Steam Scale (Number of Sex Scenes): 🔥🔥
Humor: A touch
Perspective: first person from both hero and heroine
More character focused or plot focused? plot?
How did the speed of the story feel? slow
When mains are first on page together: It takes quite awhile – about 27% (end of chapter 6)
Cliffhanger: No, this ends with a happily ever after for the mains
Epilogue: Yes, months later
Format: voluntarily read an advanced reader copy from the author in e-book format
Why I chose this book: So this book was on my radar to try in the future anyway but I was thinking I would finish her first series before starting it (Warriors of Tavikh), but it ended up in my email as an ARC so I’m definitely grabbing it sooner now!
Mains: This is a M/F relationship between an alien hero and human heroine
(Descriptions found at end of my review)

Should I read in order?
There’s quite a bit of character crossover from the first series, Warriors of Tavikh so that might be a good place to start before picking this up. You’ll get some world building and some history of the hero’s people. But overall this romance does stand alone so if you’re not a stickler for that it can be read alone.

Basic plot:
Iris hopes to start a new life on Tavikh and Kala helps assimilate her to their world.

Give this a try if you want:
- science fiction romance
- alien setting - Tavikh
- futuristic time line (Earth has moved towards a tiered system of humanity and humans are basically ‘shipped’ to planet Tavikh)
- single dad hero
- survival themes
- disability rep (heroine)
- ax throwing lessons
- lower angst
- lower to mid steam – 2 full scenes (slower burn) with knotting and light praise

Ages:
- didn’t catch either

First line:
Our world has changed since the first ship filled with humans arrived on Tavikh many moons ago.

My thoughts:
I liked a lot about this one! I really wanted to try this one as soon as I saw the cover – probably some subliminal push from my husband watching the predator movies frequently 😆

This story had better flow for me than some of the prior books I’ve read by this author and I really enjoyed falling into it. I liked the slower burn and tension building between them. It is a very….easy and low angst romance though and I tend to really love my angst! There wasn’t a lot of conflict – which I think is perfect for one of those easy, cozy reads if you are in the mood for that.

Kala is super sweet and I loved Iris. I’m curious about her other spin off series featuring the Bohnari too 👀

This is a spin-off of a prior series by the author, of which I read a couple stories. I do think it stands alone fine as there’s background given on the dynamics of the humans who are already there and the conflict that occurred and then was resolved with the H’s tribe. Major trigger warnings for mention of human women being abducted and assaulted and recollections of babies from those pregnancies not surviving. Nothing is shown on page, but the past is mentioned a couple of times. Even with the triggers, this is a palette cleanser type of sci-fi story where the H and h quickly feel a connection and start exploring it.

Written in first person, dual POV. No ow/om drama, H is experienced and had been previously mated (she was not a true mate and he was sad when she passed away but he wasn’t in love), and h is not experienced.

Some tropes/themes:
☆ Alien MMC/human FMC
☆ Description of this tribe felt kind of Predator-like
☆ FMC with physical disability she’s been judged for
☆ MMC believes their species are not compatible
☆ Single dad with adorable alien child who wishes for a mom
☆ Survival concerns and pressures on the H for his tribe
☆ Fast moving relationship
☆ Alien tribes working together after conflict

I liked both main characters and especially the H’s son. The H feels the significant weight of his responsibilities and he’s doing his best to do right by his people while still giving his son moments of joy. He assumes that his tribe will die off and that pairings with humans are not possible because of what happened with the forced women. When the h arrives on a human ship, his son is immediately drawn to her and vice versa. There are some initial acclimations (H’s very alien in features, plus culture differences) and sweet getting-to-know each other scenes. The H is reticent to try something with the h, which upsets the h, the son, and himself. Not much angst comes from it though and soon a human is willingly joining the tribe. Steam-wise, it’s slow burn with only a couple of scenes including mutual self-pleasuring and exploration of physical differences.

I did notice some errors here and there at the time that I read it that did take me out of the moment since I had to reread some times. While some of the themes were extremely serious, the contrast with how easy the relationship was was slightly jarring, particularly with how the h was so certain that they would work fine when the H was worried he’d seriously harm her. The ending is HEA though, with the birth of a child. I felt like this was just an ok read personally but it did work for the mood I was in.

Oh my heart! I think this is my favorite so far! Sorin is just an adorable little boy and Kala is such a good dad. Iris is the most perfect woman for them. If you are into Predator and Ice Planet Barbarians, you may be interested in this one

MMC looks like the Predator and his people were the villains in the original series (Warriors of Tavikh) so of course I wanted to read this!

It started out so promising with single Dad to cutest alien kid who wants a mom so bad.
FMC who has been unwanted since birth (raised in an orphanage) with physical imperfections (missing hand, birth mark on half her face).

But their "relationship" went from just met to ready to be your alien kid's mom in like 24 hours or something. Not enough build up to make this believable or truly excellent.
I liked the premise and characters.

The lead up to sex with the drawn out declarations of commitment was weird.

It was probably my favorite book out of all the ones I've read by this author (I haven't read the Bohnari books yet).

My only problem is that I felt like because it was a book about the Krijese the author took liberties with the FMC. Now don't get me wrong, I appreciate the fact that she has a birthmark that covers half her face and that she is also representing people who are missing limbs, my problem is the fact that I get the feeling you won't see another character like her (physically) unless it's for another Krijese character. Why couldn't someone like Iris be for the Tavikhi or the Bohnari? (Granted I didn't read the Bohnari books yet but Iris was rejected/overlooked by the bride program they had on earth for the the Bohnari and I'm sure a lot of it had to do with her looks).

My other problem is minor and had more to do with how Kala mentioned in his POV thoughts that he was skilled at taking down 2 legged creatures and not actually good at hunting but I don't understand that seeing as in his original tribe they did still have to hunt for the King and their survival so.. it's a bit stupid.

I absolutely loved Sorin, but I loved him from the other book when he was brought to the village to be healed, and I will admit some of his scenes with Iris made me tear up a bit.

I still hate that the Krijese are still the humans solution for people who beat on kids or women (which in itself is wrong, it should be ANYONE being abused that gets punished/exiled because believe it or not, men can be abused too). I don't understand why Kala and his people should have to shelter and feed these assholes who do that. As much as the Tavikhi are their allies, it seems like they see them as less than to suggest that they take the abusers who are exiled for their crimes.

Lastly while I enjoyed Iris and Kala together, I felt it was a bit rushed. She literally went from meeting Sorin and him (and being scared of him), to kissing him the next day, then they argued briefly resulting in a few days away from each other and when he went to apologize to her she left with him to become Sorin's mom and his mate. It was much too fast and it felt more like she just wanted desperately to be loved that she said yes because this was as good as she was going to get given her appearance. Oof and that nickname, Sweeney because he couldn't say Sweetie was cringe AF. Plus it was still on the repetitive side.

An alien romance with a hero that looks like the Predator? I was excited.

I did not read the original series and picked this up not knowing about the world and relationships between the two species. The hero, Kala is a single father and is trying to keep his people alive even as they have struggled through a cruel king and a culture that emphasises war, violence and not expressing your emotions. Their people have gone through. sickness and there is only two kids left in their surviving group. Winter brings more humans to the Tavikhi encampment (another client species they previously were enemies of)

TW: Sexual assault mentioned, suicide

I was pleasantly surprised to find disability rep with the heroine, Iris as she does not have one hand and has a birthmark covering half her face.

Another ship lands on the planet and Iris volunteers to live in the Tavikhi settlement. She meets a young Krijese even though she is unaware of his species and finds him sweet. Kala is scarier but his kind and honest way win her over. I liked how the Krijese have to learn about human concepts and emotions like tears, hand shakes and kisses.

Sorin was so innocent and cute with trying to learn more about Iris. Kala was quite a cinammon roll for how scary he looks. I liked the way he did not want his child to suffer what he suffered. It was heartwarming to see everyone accepting Iris and not thinking she was strange. I thought it was triumphant how Kala offers to teach her to use a war axe and no one discourages her. The terms for mother and father are so cute “momo” and “gogo” for such a terrifying looking race.

I liked how sweet and honourable the hero was and the two of them fit well together. Iris finds purpose in being Sorin’s mother and part of a group. The couple have to learn each orher because of different features like the Krijese vertical mouth and tusks making the way they kiss differ and finding what works for them in terms of touch and affection was heart warming. The fear Kala has for Iris to become pregnant was real because there have been no successful births and the mothers passed away as well. I am pretty sure some of them committed suicide but that word is not used.

Tropes:<\b>Single father, size difference (hero is bigger than heroine)

Representation:<\b>
- heroine is plus size
- heroine has a port wine stain on half her face
- heroine has limb difference (she does not have a left hand)

Predator single dad ISO mate/momo for son

Sorin:
“I am going to say a prayer to our god like the Tavikhi’s do to their goddess, and ask him to guide us both and to provide us with what we need.”

“Every evening when I go to bed, I have said a prayer to our god that he would bring a momo. From the moment I saw you, I knew he had answered my prayer."

The Kri'jese species look like the predator, and have warred all their lives- the remaining few left only want peace. Their new leader, Kala, is a single father who's raised his son with kindness and peace. But with no female Kri'jese left, and the new humans not compatible, they have no hope left. Yet the little boy, Sorin, refuses to give up. He made me cry so many times, but in a healing and happy way. He wants a momo (mother) so badly and a mate for his father.

The FMC is disabled (missing a hand and has patches of color on her body and face) yet she never gives up. Because ppl have judged her by her looks, she refuses to do the same to Kala and his son, even though she's scared of them in the beginning.

She sees the lonely longing for love that Sorin and Kala have. And though Kala is too afraid of harming her to get involved with her, he can't stay away either.

I honestly loved everything about this book. It turned out to be so much more than a spicy monster romance (tho it is that as well lol). The storyline is beautiful and weaves so many lessons in without being preachy or obvious about it. If you enjoy an antihero monster single dad with a moral compass, a cute little alien boy who needs love, and a sunshine disabled FMC who sees past what's on the outside, you need this book in your life.

It can be read alone, new couple & their HEA. But I did find out after reading this book that there's a series that goes in the timeline before this one, in case you're one of those ppl who like to read in order.

Read what makes you happy! (And then tell me about it lol)

Embracing love and differences

I loved Iris and Kala’s heartwarming, alien-human, fated mates, healing romance. It had the perfect balance of humor, love, real life issues, painful pasts, spice, and big feels. I was feeling all the things as their love story unfolded. Kala and Iris are portrayed as real, relatable people who have flaws and scars, but are really just trying to do their best as messy beings. Kala is a Krijese, an alien who lives on the planet Tavikh. He is a single father to Sorin. He and his small tribe abandoned the warring ways of the Krijese and have become peaceful and friendly with the Tavikhi warriors. Iris is a human who just arrived on Tavikh. She is missing a hand and has a huge birthmark covering half her face. She has been isolated and treated as different and something to be feared her whole life. Sorin meets Iris and is instantly drawn to her and wishes her to be his mother. Kala is drawn to her as well but holds back because he believes humans are incompatible with Krijese. To get to their HEA there will be baggage unpacking, trust giving, truth telling, and leaps of faith. I have a soft spot for the people who are a bit uncomfortable in their skin because they don’t feel like they fit in or are worthy, like Iris and Kala. So I love when they finally see their truth and they get swoon worthy HEAs. And Sorin was such a wonderful and integral addition to the story rather than a flimsy story prop. The story would not have been as rich and well rounded without the full development and inclusion of his character. This well written story included engaging dialogue, three dimensional characters who grow, good world building, deep emotions, and a captivating storyline. I am excited to read more in this new series.

This book was like a breath of fresh air in the genre of Alien romance! First and foremost Kala and Iris remind the reader that we are perfect in whatever body we come in and Sorin (Kala's sweet son) teaches us never to give up hope.

Iris arrives on Tavikh to try to start anew after spending her whole life feeling like she was less than because of her physical disability and birthmark. She's a realist who also tackels life's challenges head on. When she first meets Kala (our Alien MMC who's physical appearance is very, very foreign and intimidating to humans at first glance) Iris has to remeber not to be so quick to judge based on outward appearances.

Kala's people are dying. Fewer of them remain every year and he's convinced that his son, Sorin will be among the last of the krijese to every grace their planet. He doesn't think that love or a mate will ever be possible for him. He lives with the regret of the killing of humans that his people did under their previous king's rule. His focus is now living a life of peace with his tribe and son. He wishes for a brighter future. Meeting Iris was not in the plans.

Their story is not only beautifully written and heartwarming it will also have you tearing up at how emotional and healing their love story is. This has been one of my favorite works so far by Hale. My only complaint is that I finished it way too quickly. I devoured this book and was so sad when it was finished. No crumbs left behind. It's witty, refreshing, and deliciously spicey. Not to mention a HEA and dual POV. Please, please, please dont hesitate to read! It will not disappoint.

It was such a cute story!
Iris was born with a dark mark on half of her face and without one hand. She grew up in an orphanage on Earth knowing only poverty and loneliness. She didn't have friends and was avoided or mocked for her looks and disability. So when she came to Tavikh, she didn't expect the aliens to treat her any differently. On day one she decided to move from the human settlement to the Tavikhi village after meeting a few males and their human mates. In the village she soon met a very alien looking boy (a mini Predator lookalike) that melted her heart with his sweetness. Seeing his father for the first time was a terrifying experience for her, but she quickly got over her fear.
Kala was a warrior that had many dark memories and regrets. The only bright point in his past is having his son, Sorin. He didn't love Sorin's mother, but he cared for her and grieved when she died five years earlier. His people were dying out, there were only around 30 of them left, and after their horrible king tried to forcibly breed human females Kala was convinced it was not possible. All the kidnapped women died, so when he felt unusual pull towards Iris he tried resisting it. Luckily Iris was a stubborn woman and little Sorin was a great matchmaker so it all worked out ;)
I liked the story very much. Kala grown up in a brutal society, so he was rising his son in a different way. He didn't know how to show his love and affection, but he was learning and doing his best. Sorin was a great boy, so Kala was clearly a great father. Krijese tribe was so welcoming and I was glad to read that Ashrif got better. I can't wait for more stories of the Predators' finding their mates ;)

I loved this book more than I thought I would.

To start off, this is the first book I’ve ever read by Erin Hale. I didn’t read some of the other books by her which would have made a few things make a little more sense to me sooner.

However, it wasn’t difficult to connect the pieces.

***Possible spoilers ahead***
That being said, I read the other reviews, saw only one negative review that the reader had a problem with it the alien’s appearance and unrelated characters of his same species crimes against humans.

I thought that persons review was of prejudiced and projecting some weird stuff, but whatever, that’s their malfunction.

However the way that review described how the MMCs physical appearance “creeped” them out instantly made me more intrigued. I’m just like that, ok. After all, it’s easy to love a hot alien. Let’s see what the Ugly Tree has to offer.

The rest of the reviews were too good to be true how they gushed about the story and characters. I thought it was another case where it was a truly abysmally written Romantasy book with somehow magically high reviews that I had been coming across lately.

I could not have been more wrong.

The story was interesting from the beginning. In fact, I loved the story itself, even if it is feel-good romantasy, it wasn’t super-insta love. There was plot, development, growth.

It was definitely insta love for me for little Soren.

That being said, I loved the storyline, plot, arcs, the HEA.

The writing was good, few minor errors, but not distracting from the story. I will definitely be going back and reading the series that this one spun from.

This was the perfect redemption arc for the once-conflict-causing Krijese—and I loved every second of it. Kala, the leader of the Krijese tribe, is not only a fierce protector but also a devoted single father to the absolute sweetest little boy, Sorin. From the moment Kala and Sorin meet our FMC, Iris, they’re completely smitten—and honestly, so is Iris.

I loved this story. The way it developed was absolutely beautiful—quick to spark, but paced just right to let you feel every moment. There’s a little fear in the beginning, a natural hesitation when everything is unknown, but it so smoothly unfolds into deep trust, acceptance, and love. Watching Iris come to terms with her new reality while finding safety and adoration in Kala and Sorin was everything.

Iris is such a breath of fresh air. Despite a birth defect that left her isolated and pushed to the bottom tier on Earth, she never let it dull her spirit. On her new planet, she embraces those differences—and the very things that made her feel “other” are now what make her extraordinary. To Kala, Sorin, and her found family, she’s nothing short of radiant.

There are these soft, gut-punch moments where Iris shares her wisdom, reminding everyone that they’re exactly who they’re supposed to be—and that makes them perfect. I’m just going to cry over here now.

This story had heart, heat, and so much hope. Erin Hale did a phenomenal job expanding this side of the Tavikh world, and I cannot wait to see what’s next for the tribes!

Ahh what a nice fluffy alien romance 😍

We're back on planet Tavikh, this time with a Krijese as the male love interest. The Krijese were previously hostile to both humans and Tavikhi, but have become peaceful since the demise of their former leader.

When a new ship full of humans lands on the planet, Iris, one of the new arrivals, decides to settle in the Tavikhi camp instead of staying in the human settlement. There, she meets the cutest Krijese child, Sorin, who is instantly enamored with her, and his scary-looking dad, Kala, who can quite stay away from her either 😁

If there's something that gets me every time in a single parent romance, it's the child sharing a special connection with their parent's love interest. I absolutely loved the relationship between Iris and Sorin and it made me tear up. Sorin was so desperate for a female figure and latched on Iris with all the eagerness and innocence of his young age and it was the cutest. Kala was not really better than his son and fell for Iris just as fast, but with more restraint as he was still convinced that humans and Krijese were incompatible.

It was a sweet story, filled with acceptance, longing, family and love.

I'm such a fan of Erin's books and I can't wait to go back to Tavikh again!

This one definitely hits right in the feels. Normally, I’m all about the whole mates trope and those spicy, swoon-worthy scenes—but guess what? This book didn’t really have that, and I didn’t even miss it. The story flowed so well, and the slow build between Kala and Iris pulled me in completely. It wasn’t flashy or insta-anything—just honest and steady, and next thing I knew, I was clutching my Kindle, fully invested.

And Sorin? He absolutely made this story. Every scene with him and his dad—aka Gogo—was adorable. Then Iris comes into their lives and this kid instantly attaches himself to her. He basically played matchmaker, having them fall in love like it was all part of his master plan. He was the real hero of this romance, and I loved him for it.

Kala’s got that protective, emotionally-repressed thing going on, but you can feel how badly he wants more—not just for himself, but for his son and his people. Iris was so easy to root for—just a woman who wants to be seen, to be loved, to find her place. And I really appreciated the disability representation in this story. What Iris went through in her past shaped how she viewed the Krijese—with empathy instead of prejudice—and that added so much to her character.

Watching Kala and Iris slowly open up to each other (with a little nudge from Sorin) was the heart of the book.

Thank you to Erin Hale for the ARC—I’m all in on this series and already excited for whatever’s next.

I absolutely loved this book. Great world building and wonderful characters. I loved Kala and his kit, Sorin, right from the start. Sorin was so optimistic about his father finding a human mate, in spite of Kala trying to explain to him that their species and humans do not mix as the females and newborn kits all die. Without females, their people will die out. Iris left for an alien planet in hopes of finding a husband. She was born without a left hand and has a large birthmark covering half her face, so she's she's used to people looking down at her or with horror or disgust. She's smart and speaks her mind. I really loved her personality.

The scene when she first met Soren and the other children was so sweet and I found it heartwarming how she couldn't keep her eyes off Soren, finding him adorable, and he told her he thought she was the most beautiful human he'd seen. I also liked her first meeting with Kala- both uncertain (and she found him very scary) but there was a sweetness to it.

I was so completely hooked to this book and charmed by all the characters. Their way of life. The fate of their people. A fantastic start to a new series and I can't wait to read more! 5 stars.

4.25 stars. This story is dual POV, well written, and a slow burn, sweet and steamy, male alien native (Kala)/female human settler (Iris), single father, marriage (mating) of convenience, sci fi romance. I empathised with Kala’s concerns and understood his reluctance to entertain possibilities after the historical trauma he’d witnessed. I enjoyed his love for his son, Sorin, and his determination to provide for his son’s needs in a way his were not provided for. I empathised with Iris’ fear regarding possible reactions to her limb absence and/or skin colour irregularity, and I enjoyed her surprise that none of the aliens she interacted with cared. I enjoyed her love for Sorin and her willingness to provide for his needs. I enjoyed the building relationship between Kala and Iris. I appreciated the way they dealt with cultural miscommunications and the fact that they were both willing to speak about concerns. I enjoyed seeing the tribe of Kala’s people and am looking forward to more in their space.

I received a complimentary copy from the author and this is my voluntary honest review.

Oh my goodness I've loved Kala and Sorin since we first met them in the Tavikhi series and the father & son duo did not disappoint. I love the single dad trope and seeing more of their relationship was so bittersweet. They really loved and cared for each other but were also missing something in their lives. Turned out to be a human woman that just arrived on the planet!

I did feel like their relationship from meeting to mates went sort of quick for a species that doesn't have fated mates. But Kala and Sorin were just so ready to have their family complete and knew Iris was the right fit. And I couldn't really get into the spice scenes because all my mind focused on was that the kid was sleeping in the same tent where they were having fun together. Maybe I was projecting my own parental fears of my kids walking in on me and my husband? Not sure but I just couldn't enjoy it. But Kala was very sweet for wanting to be careful and not hurt Iris.

There's hope for the Krijese and I can't wait to see where this series goes! I love when aliens look like aliens and Kala fits the bill! If you have ever seen the Predator and thought "smash" check out this book!

I absolutely love the single dad trope!
I really enjoyed the characters in this story, especially Kala and little Sorin—he’s such a sweet boy. Although the story starts off a bit slow, it quickly picks up once he asks Iris to become Sorin’s Momo, and she agrees without hesitation. What she didn’t expect was for their relationship to grow into something mutual—not just centered around Sorin.

It all begins with a marriage of convenience so Iris can fulfill her dream of becoming a mother. In the process, Sorin gains the mother figure he so desperately needed.

This story has a beautiful balance of romance, found family, and healing love for both the FMC and MMC. There are also sweet and funny family moments. The bond between Iris and Sorin is incredibly special—she immediately falls in love with the little boy, and they form a strong connection. It’s like Sorin’s prayers were answered the moment Iris came into their lives.

If you enjoy single dad tropes, aliens who actually look like aliens, and touching found family stories—this book is definitely for you. 👽💗

Claimed by the Kaijese is the first book of the author’s new Kaijese Warlords series.
This Sci-Fi adventure takes place on the planet Tavikh with another group of the planet’s inhabitants the Kaijese who are no longer enemies of the Tavikhi but allies.
MFC Iris is one of the newly arrived on the planet from Earth and meets MMC Kala after first befriending his young son Sorin which leaves Kala with the realization of how much his motherless son yearns to have one.
Iris fears Kala at first because of the stories told about his people attacking the newly arriving ships as well as their totally alien appearance which were more outstanding than the Tavikhi’s. Iris better understands differences in others though because of her own.
I enjoyed this sweet story that was filled with good writing, likable characters, found family, and passion.
Looking forward to reading more future stories in the series!.

Once again I gobbled this book up 🥰🥰 Man oh man do I love me some Erin Hale alien romance stories 🩷🩷 You added two of my favorite things, alien men AND a single dad 🫶 Girl at this point just let me drop dead cause how perfect are those tropes together 😭 As always the MMC is such a softie for their mate. I feel like this book perfectly shows what it's like to be a single parent, the worry that Kala had cause of fear of possibly hurting Sorin 🥺

I love love love how all of the books are interconnected and giving us sneak peaks to other characters from the other series <3 The gentleness that Iris and Kala have towards one another, despite the fear of being together at first they're able to overcome it because love knows no bounds. I love the bickering and how despite Kala trying to be a brooding, closed off man, he failed and fell head over heels immediately 😩 What more could someone ask for? UGH and "sweeney" LITERALLY TO DIE FOR.

I love this family so much! Can't wait to read more of this series and other Erin Hale books 🩷 Thank you for allowing me to receive an ARC copy!

Claimed By The Krijese is book one of the Krijese Warlords Series.

Kala is the odd man out in the group of warriors as he is Krijese and not Tavikh. However, the group doesn't tend to treat him differently. Iris has been an outcast while on Earth as she has a distinct birthmark on her face which made people stray away from her. Iris and Kala were perfect for each other as they could both understand how it felt to be an outcast in a society. I enjoyed seeing their relationship develop between them. I loved Iris's relationship with Soren who is the son of Kala. They have such a strong bond and we can see this is one of the catalysts for everyone being together and working on their relationship together.

This is a new series, but there is a bit of a crossover with characters from the Warriors of Tavikh Series. I don't think its necessary to read the others first, but it might just give you a bit more background information.

Iris has come to this new alien planet to escape her lower tier status of Earth. She has her own unique self that most have issues looking past. Here in this new world she finds kindness and love. Little ten year old Sorin grabs her heart and her hand before she has a chance to meet his gogo or father which helps with his physical appearance.
Kala has known nothing but harsh realities but he wants more for his son. He wants what he sees after the humans come to his world and mate with his allies. Then he meet Iris and he starts to change his thinking on many things. He wants more after meeting her.
I loved this book and the insight we got into Kala and his people’s life. It is poor at the heart of things but with a chance of change he grabs hold and wants more. This was a great read and I hope Kala and his people get more happiness and kindhearted treatment and support from more humans.

What a lovely read. Iris is a wonderful FMC. She is funny, spirited, and so full of love. Kala a Krijese Alien and his kit Sorin are so adorable. Sorin initiates Kala and Iris's coming together. And sparks are flying between them. It takes a moment because of mostly fears from Kala. But Iris gently guides him to overcome some of those fears. They are a true mated pair. His ways are a little different than neighboring Tavikhi Warriors.
I am totally loving this new series Krijese Warlords. And I am excited to see more mated pairs happening to help bring back his race that has been dwindling. Also I liked that Kala and Sorin are characters from the previous series The Tavikhi Warriors and since they are neighbors we still get to see the Tavikhi in this series..
Great job Erin. You are truly an amazing author and I love reading your Alien Romance books.
I highly recommend this book. It's a truly delightful read.

WOW!!!! This author just keeps blowing my mind. When you think you can't get better than the books that have been written she pulls out another one and I could not put this book down. It keeps getting better and better. I never would have thought that the Krijese would get a story, but the way Erin has written this one you are hooked, the chemistry between these two was so sweet and heart-warming you just had to keep turning the page to continue to read and see how they over come their fears and worries of actually being together. I love how the son with his loving personality just brings a variety of people together you just can't help but fall in love with him. He is able to make adults who have never thought of changing their ways to be more open, and find that he just brings them all together. The story had me so hooked you find yourself laughing and feeling like you are in the world watching all of these things develop and you can't put it down. I so cannot wait to see what else this author has in store for us, and now I feel the need to re-read the whole series to just dive back into this world, and reconnect with all these characters once again. I cannot recommend this book enough. You will be blown away!!!!

It was a really nice introduction to the series.
While Sorin is the cutest and was pushing Iris with his innuendos, I think the fact that Iris became his mother so quickly is completly crazy. It's a huge resposibility. Like she stayed with them for two days, didn't see them for a week and suddenly got herself a son and a husband.
The fated mates part is different from the tavikhi as there seem to not have a physical manifestation so how do you know that Iris is your true mate, Kala ? Their "getting together" part was also a bit confusing to me, was it for Sorin, for them ? It felt rushed to me and ... just happened.

It would have also been nice to be introduced to the other warlords ... Or maybe the next one will be Ortak.

I read this in a day! Talk about fast and easy read. I loved it and I lowkey wished it was longer because I couldn’t get enough of the characters!!

In this book you meet Kala and his kit Sorin who are Krijese aliens. They live on a different planet than earth and live very different lives that other aliens and humans do. But this leads us to meeting Iris a human who volunteered along with others to come live on this planet and get away from earth. You learn quickly that her appearance is different and a lot of humans ignore or avoid her for these reasons. But this helps her to be more accepting of the new world and aliens she was meeting. This was such a fun read and I couldn’t get enough of it. I loved the character relationships and how Sorin was so taken with Iris and how he truly believed this is the mom he prayed for. Also getting to read how Kala and Iris fell so quickly in love and were so accepting of each other was amazing.

Tropes ~
Disabilities rec
Alien x human
Fast paced/insta love
Single dad
Little spice
Slightly weird/ different way to kiss
Really cute kid

I wasn’t feeling the Warriors of Tavikh series, so I jumped to the spin-off, Krijese Warlords, because it sounded more interesting to me. This can be read as a standalone, but keep in mind that doing so will spoil what happens to the characters in the first series.

I enjoyed this one a bit more. The interaction between the two main characters flows much better than it did between London and Zander in book one of Warriors of Tavikh. I especially loved Sorin, who bonded very quickly with Iris. I’m not surprised—who wouldn’t with such a sweet kid? Some readers might not like how fast-paced the story is overall, since everything unfolds over the course of about a week rather than months. I didn’t really notice how quickly things were happening because I was more focused on the characters and their relationship.

Kala and Iris
I think this is a powerful love story. A Iris doesn't fit in with human society because of a birth defect. Given up at birth, no love or affection, finds her way to a new world and new life. There she meets a male scary looking and very alien, but with him she find love and family. Kala is raising his son on his own. No hope for a mate, believing that Krijeses and humans can't mate, trying to lead and keep his village alive. All changes when he meets Iris. She bring hope, love, affection, and understanding to a village barely surviving.
I loved this story and I felt the heart ache Kala, Iris and even Sorin ( kala's young son) felt and I rejoiced they found the happy ever after.
