Sidney Sheldon (1917-2007) was an American writer who won awards in three careers—a Broadway playwright, a Hollywood TV and movie screenwriter, and a best-selling novelist.
His TV works spanned a twenty-year period during which he created I Dream of Jeannie (1965-70), Hart to Hart (1979-84), and The Patty Duke Show (1963-66), but it was not until after he turned 50 and began writing best-selling novels such as Master of the Game (1982), The Other Side of Midnight (1973) and Rage of Angels (1980) that he became most famous.
I thought the story around alien would be boring but it was interesting. Alien willing to save the earth and drinking pure water alone as food. It was nice. And the identification of 10 witness seems to be getting easier at the end of task. another book that you cannot put down until you complete.
Sidney Sheldon. I see how easy it was for me to believe SS was a woman. His female characters are mostly beautifully written. Powerful women but they were still human and capable of jealousy, envy, love, hate and a myriad of emotions.
Mysterious objects in the sky? UFO’s? Aliens? Oh come on- No- No- No- Whatever the research Sidney Sheldon has gone through for this novel ….I don’t know I did not like it. It was so not Sheldon type. Fake – I mean maybe it’s true that- for the past three decades there have been at least 50,000-75,000 reports regarding these unidentified objects in the sky…but you don’t really had to write a novel base on it.
------The stars shine down------
My kind of novel- which addresses to all women on earth- Wonderful story that – Lara accomplish her dreams -& also trying to bury & hide her terrible past. And once again proving that any woman can achieve her goals –and they only need their determination to it.
interesting story about a commander of the us naval intelligence Robert bellamy who is sent on a special assignment to find ten witnesses to the crash of a weather balloon carrying military information so they can be sworn to secrecy, or at least that’s what he is told. The truth is what they actually witnessed was the crash of a UFO on the Swiss Alps as they were on a Swiss tour. Now every one of the found witnesses is dying a brutal death, and as Robert discovers so will he.on the other side of the story an alien is dying (on earth) trying to find water, she finds robert, whose friends have become his enemies and no one can be trusted.the end is kind of boring though since everything works out just fine, he gets the girl and the alien goes home alive.
I read this book like 10 years ago, when I was 16 or 17. At the time, it was one of the most thrilling and exciting books I'd ever read! Of course, I liked the first half much better than the second half.
I had heard some awesome reviews about this novel, so after completing Private India, I decided to go for this novel. The novel is not so great and there are hardly any elements of surprises. All the murder mysteries are quite predictable. Even the end is not so convincing. Overall disappointing..
One of my favourite Sidney Sheldon books. (I like only 3, by the way!) Extremely thought-provoking. Makes u wonder if it really is entirely fiction, or... :)
Sometimes you're in the mood for an 80s/90s espionage novel. This one's pretty classic. It's got that whole "Bourne Identity" vibe with the conspiracy and government agents with the bonus of UFOs.
