War of Shadow and Bone

Rate this book
The Goddess of Death is back and will not be stopped this time. After being forgotten and lied about for millennia, she returns to bring about judgment for the gods and goddesses who have failed to protect the mortals' worlds. One god seeks ultimate power. Another opposes the changes required to make things right. Death comes for them all. A battle of shadows and monsters collides in Myzonia, and Adrian and Marcus must do whatever they can to protect their world against impossible odds.

As they confront invasions from the God of War, Darci rallies an army of her own.

With great victory comes great sacrifice.

No one can kill a god--no one but her.

Hi! I'm Olivia, and I have had a deep love of reading and all things books pretty much my entire life. I grew up on fantasy and magic, and the fact that I get to write stories full of those things boggles my mind. I hope to continue to grow as a writer and reader every year. I love a variety of genres and consume a diverse range of books. I was born and raised in Kentucky, and I spend a lot of my time outside with my family, enjoying our garden and nature. My horses, cats, and dog also hold a dear place in my heart. Thank you to every person who takes a chance on my book. I hope you like it, and even if you didn't, I'm still grateful you tried it out!

Happy Reading!

I was kindly provided an ARC of this book.

War of Shadow and Bone picks up immediately after the end of House of Shadow and Death, and it does not disappoint!

I absolutely loved the ending and the epilogue was chilling!

Sadly I can't say much because it'd be spoilers. What I can say is the writing is amazing, the atmosphere Olivia creates is chilling and the story itself is very interesting.

Where book one focused on loneliness and grief, this book focuses on the concept of death.

I would highly recommend this duology, it's been such a pleasure to read.

I absolutely loved the second part of this duology. I loved getting to know more about our FMC, her journey, and how that all made her who she became. I also loved how I never really knew where we were going and I was kept on my toes the whole time. The ending was absolutely beautiful and heartbreaking and I absolutely adored the little snippet of hope at the very end. I fell in love with this author's writing and I CANNOT wait to read more from her.

This book was even better than the first! It picked up exactly where the first book ended. This one adds a third perspective, which gives the reader an even better understanding of the characters and their conflicting viewpoints, plus it makes the reader question who to trust. There are twists and turns throughout and it truly keeps you guessing until the very end.

darci’s character development throughout both of the books in the series is so good. at first she didn’t want to live and survive but as the story progressed she realised that she was allowed to love and care for those around her. giving up her powers to allow adrian to live was the ultimate sacrifice.

You get to learn much more about the world at hand and the relationships develop much deeper. It becomes a little more complex, but not so much that it deters you. What a fantastic ending.
