It’s nearing the end of September and the harvest has already begun. We are not long for this field. By November, most of us will have been ripped from the ground by the combines and we’ll be well on our way to being transformed into something totally different from the kernel. Beyond those of us retained for next year’s growing season, the field will be nothing more than a distant memory.
