It’s 1990. Master Sergeant Robert McCloud leads his unit on a secret mission at the tail-end of the invasion of Panama. A horrible accident disrupts their operation and leaves McCloud scarred and disfigured. In the midst of his recovery, McCloud finds he has developed strange, psychic abilities as well as a vast conspiracy to eliminate him. In his attempt to solve this mystery, he uncovers a new global threat growing in the shadows, infiltrating all levels of government.
Will Robert McCloud be able to rise to meet this threat, or will powers plaguing his mind overcome him?
MIND WAR is the first book of the New Vision Comics Collective - Pulp Paperback, Expanded Earth series: PSI-STRIKE!
This book is a blast from start to finish. Like Moler says in his Preface, he was going for the feel of an 80s action flick, spinning out of an episode of G.I. Joe, and he NAILED IT. Explosions, gunfights, cartels, knife-wielding psychopaths, this book has it all!
It opens feeling like an early Clancy novel, quickly switching gears to what reminded me of The Dead Zone meets Commando (if Matrix had a spidey sense—or "Peter tingle," if you only speak MCU) in a Robocop-style revenge tale.
And that's before you even MEET Dr. Valid.
A FANTASTIC debut of Daniel Moler's pulp fiction, showcasing the kickoff of the Expanded Earth era of New Vision Comics Collective!
