Stumped!

Rate this book
Sporting obsession can consume people of all ages. Actually playing the game well is more likely confined to the relatively young. But sporting murder makes no such distinction and offers no concessions. DCI Mick Strike has forged a career for almost a quarter of a century by specialising in this particular genre of crime, but age catches up with all of us, doesn't it? That and, in his case, an ever-increasing disenchantment with the police force he works for and, more especially, with the hidebound hierarchy above him. And when two tragedies - one global and the other intensely personal - combine to knock Mick Strike for six, it is conceivable that his innings is finally at an end. But his passion for justice is as strong as his devotion to his beloved Spurs, and so Mick is slowly drawn out of his self-imposed isolation to re-enter the field of play one more time.
