The N8 Self: You are more than your Mind, Body, & Emotions

Rate this book
Loneliness is a situation that we create.

The N8 Self invites the reader into holistic connection beyond just the mind, body, and heart and into the aspect of self we don't talk much about, the human spirit.

This powerful part of our human experience drives our need for connection and meaning. Without a framework to wrestle with, this part of self often gets left out of how we think about ourselves. My hope is to offer a way to understand this crucial piece of what it means to be human, which in its essence is our higher nature and is innate in everyone.

The N8 Self offers a tangible way to understand and cultivate more meaning and purpose in our lives. Through eight characteristics, the reader will discover both the individual and universal way we are all wired for connection and meaning.

Give you different tools to shift listlessness and anxietyIdentify core values and ways you long to contributeCultivate gratitude, generosity, and creativityDiscover meaning through rethinking connectionThe N8 Self is for those who are seeking for more meaning and purpose in life, or for those who are looking to understand themselves more fully.

Are you ready to experience more joy and fulfillment? Then this book is for you.

I am a corporate hippie and wanderer. If I were a cartoon, Carmen San Diego would be my alter ego. My life's passion is helping people get past the ideas they have of themselves to unlock more fulfillment. Our minds are wonderful and dangerous tools depending on how we wield them. I love complexity and strive for simplicity and believe the world is more interesting with our paradoxes explored. My aim is to bring more joy and understanding into the world, and I am hoping The N8 Self will bring about more of both to you. To all my fellow seekers out there, this is for you, wherever you are in your journey.

A Heartfelt Guide to Purpose in Midlife

I wasn’t sure what to expect from “The N8 Self: You are more than your Mind, Body, & Emotions,” but it turned out to be a gem that deeply resonated with me. Jules Kuroda delves into the often-overlooked aspect of our being—the innate self beyond just mind, body, and emotions—and does so with wisdom and compassion. One of the first lines that struck me was “loneliness is a situation that we create,” a bold statement that made me stop and reflect. That insight set the tone for a book that invites you to examine how you’re living and what might be missing.

Jules outlines eight characteristics (or pillars) of the “N8” self that collectively form a roadmap to a more meaningful life. I loved how these chapters covered everything from embracing gratitude and creativity to identifying your core values and ways to contribute to the world. Each section provided me with a new perspective; for instance, the chapter on rethinking connection prompted me to reach out to an old friend, and the section on core values inspired me to journal about what truly matters to me. The author’s tone is warm and conversational, with a clarity that makes even deep concepts feel accessible. You can tell she has poured her heart into sharing her hard-won insights, and it feels like she’s right there cheering you on.

As a reader in midlife, I felt seen and understood by this book. It’s not just theory; “The N8 Self: You are more than your Mind, Body, & Emotions” is filled with practical exercises and gentle questions that helped me find clarity on my own journey. By the end, I felt more grounded and hopeful, with a renewed sense of purpose. This is a book I’ll be keeping on my shelf to revisit whenever I need a boost of inspiration. Five stars, hands down! I’ll be recommending “The N8 Self” to all my friends who are asking the big questions in life.

Great book! Lots of wisdom is intertwined with Jules' personal stories. It offers deep wisdom but, at the same time, manages to be lighthearted, playful, and real. Jules opens a space for us to feel safe unpacking our narratives, ways of being, beliefs, and self-dialogue. A great read for anyone on a path of self-discovery.

A great book. I found so many valuable insights and alignments in here. I could see so clearly what she meant as she wrote it. I laughed so many times as I could identify myself so easily in it too. Thank you.

I could really hear the author’s voice through their writing. I think that made the stories told throughout the book even more charming. Makes me want to get out there and put myself in situations I would normally shy away from.
