Ich muss echt zugeben, dass mir "Save You" wahnsinnig gut gefallen hat und damit hätte ich ehrlich gesagt nicht gerechnet! Damals habe ich auch dem Vorgängerband 5 Sterne gegeben, wenn ich aber daran zurückdenke, muss ich allerdings zugeben, dass mich schon relativ viel an Ruby & James Geschichte gestört hat. Wenn ich Save Me nochmal lesen würde, würde meine Bewertung wahrscheinlich eher negativer ausfallen.
Aber zurück zu "Save You": Mona hat sich die viele Kritik anscheinend wirklich zu Herzen genommen, da viele nervige Details ausgebessert wurden und ich somit diesmal die Lesestunden besser genießen konnte. Mir hat es wirklich Spaß gemacht die Charaktere zu begleiten, was vor allen Dingen an den neu dazu gewonnen Perspektiven von Lydia & Ember lag. (Ich muss an dieser Stelle auch leider zugeben, dass ich Lydia und Graham mehr shippe als #Bellfort 😂).
Die Art und Weise wie James hier mit seinen Dämonen zu kämpfen hatte, empfand ich als sehr realistisch, muss aber im Gegensatz dazu gestehen, dass ich mit Ruby immer noch nicht 100%ig warm werden konnte. Ich fand es trotzdem schön, dass sie sich nicht gleich auf Seite 1 wieder verziehen haben, sondern das ganze so seine Zeit gebraucht hat. Man merkt beim Lesen wirklich, dass die beiden sich perfekt ergänzen und zusammengehören, da ich anfangs Zweifel hatte, ob sie wirklich ein gutes Paar abgeben könnten.
Dieser Band war auf jeden Fall um längen besser als der erste und fiebere jetzt schon gespannt auf August hin, um den Abschluss der Reihe lesen zu können! 😍 Stellt euch auf einen gemeinen Cliffhanger ein, aber diesmal ist es zum Glück kein so hinrissiger wie bei Save Me!

Nach dem ich länger darüber nachgedacht habe, habe ich nochmal 0,5 Sterne abgezogen und der Band bekommt final nun 2 Sterne von mir.
Es tut mir so leid das Buch so bewerten zu müssen, weil ich Mona echt mag, aber nichtsdestotrotz muss ich ehrlich sein.
Ich fand, dass sich die Geschichte ziemlich in die Länge gezogen hat, was zum Teil auch daran lag, dass es auch noch Kapitel aus Lydias und Embers Sicht gab. Gerade Embers Sicht hat für mich gar nicht in die eigentliche Story reingepasst und ich persönlich kann ihr auch gar nichts abgewinnen. Kurz gesagt, ich finde Ember ziemlich nervig. Lydias Sicht war eigentlich ganz interessant, aber auch hier bin ich der Meinung, dass es dem Buch gut getan hätte, wenn es diese nicht gegeben hätte. Allgemein wäre es (glaube ich) besser gewesen Rubys und James Geschichte in einem Band zu erzählen und dann in den anderen Bänden auf andere Charaktere einzugehen.
Ruby ist mir auch nicht sonderlich sympathisch. Ich finde, sie steigert sich teilweise zu sehr in die Sache rein. Klar James hat Mist gebaut, dass will ich auch gar nicht leugnen, dennoch muss man auch mal seine Sicht sehen und ihn ein wenig verstehen.
Auch was zum Schluss passiert, konnte man sich eigentlich schon denken und der eigentlich gut geschriebene Cliffhanger würde in meinen Augen mit dem Epilog zu nichte gemacht.
Was mir auch negativ aufgefallen ist, sind die Fehler in dem Buch. Ich habe 3 Logik- bzw. Wiederholungsfehler gefunden, die zwar nicht die Handlung beeinflusst haben, aber dennoch da waren. Darüber hinaus gab es ein paar Schreibfehler, die mir aufgefallen sind und wo ich den einen Satz dreimal lesen musste bis ich bemerkt habe, dass da ein Wort zu viel ist und es deswegen keinen Sinn ergibt.
Positiv hingegen war mal wieder der Schreibstil. Ich finde es fantastisch wie Mona Gefühle und Situationen beschreibt. Man kam gut durch das Buch durch und auch wenn es langatmig war, gab es einige interessante Stellen im Buch und man möchte dennoch wissen wie es weitergeht, auch wenn ich jetzt nicht sehnsüchtig auf den dritten Teil warte.

I don’t know how else to say this, but this book gave very much pretty packaging, mid contents.
Did I devour it? Yes.
Was I dramatically flipping pages at 2AM? Also yes.
Was half the book just emotional damage with no major plot movement?
Yeah... unfortunately.
This sequel basically rode on the aftershock of heartbreak. Ruby is done. James is a mess. Lydia is pregnant. Ember is… just kinda there. We’re thrown right into the drama, and it’s like everyone’s running in circles trying not to drown in their own trauma.

The vibe is very elite school chaos, rich kid scandals, silent hallway stares, and holding-your-breath kind of tension. It reads like Gossip Girl with a German edge.
The writing?
Easy to consume. I flew through it. Mona Kasten definitely knows how to write readable angst. But tbh… it felt like everything could’ve been said in half the pages. This was classic second book syndrome—a whole lot of vibes, not a lot of plot.
What I liked:
✧ Lydia’s POV was a slay. She’s raw, vulnerable, stuck in a situation too big for her, and honestly the most emotionally complex in the book. I love her.
✧ The Maxton Hall setting stays undefeated. There’s something fun about reading drama unfold in such a rich, polished environment.
✧ The side ships are giving potential. I need more of Wren/Cyril and Graham/Lydia like now pls.
What didn’t work for me:
✧ Ruby and James? ZERO development. He hurt her. She can’t forgive. Rinse and repeat for 300+ pages.
✧ Not enough groveling. Sorry, but James needed to work way harder to earn anything back.
✧ Ember’s POV? Sorry but I skimmed half of it. Her parts felt unnecessary.
This book was 90% emotions, 10% actual story movement, and I still can’t decide if I liked that. I wanted more growth, more tension, more consequence. Instead, it felt like everyone was just stuck. That said, the cliffhanger did its job—because I’m literally already reaching for Save Us.
Final thoughts:
If you’re here for teen angst, fancy uniforms, betrayal, reconciliation, and messy friendships, you’ll be entertained. Just don’t expect massive revelations or wild twists. It’s a slow emotional burn.
But also… if James fumbles one more time, I’m launching him into the sun ☀️

I love the world of Maxton Hall so much, but this was honestly very mid. The plot was mostly centered around miscommunication and them processing their feelings. I understood why they both needed to work through things on their own, but there wasn’t a lot of forward movement in the plot. I was under the impression that they would be at Uni in the next season of the show and now I’m wondering if that was an incorrect assumption. In this book, they are still at Maxton Hall and I think I was hoping to transition to a slightly more adult storyline.
This book was told from four different perspectives and I wasn’t nearly as interested in either of their sister’s perspectives as I was in the main storyline. I am also curious to see how they will handle this aspect of the plot in the show. The actress who played her sister seemed like a very weak link from an acting perspective in the show, so I’m not sure how wise it would be to give her more air time. We’ll have to wait and see how it all plays out!
I like the show enough for this to have felt like a cozy read, but I don’t have anything spectacular to report. Glad I read it either way and I’ll definitely be reading book three!

unpopular opinion timeeee (aber vielleicht liegt es auch an mir und ich hab einfach kein Herz?)
Ich weiß gar nicht genau, was für ein konkretes Problem ich mit der Reihe habe. Mittlerweile denke ich mir, dass man diese komplette Trilogie sicher auch in einen dickeren Band hätte stecken können, weil es mittlerweile ein wenig wie eine Seifenoper ist. Obwohl sich Ruby und James eigentlich lieben, passiert immer wieder irgendetwas Unnötiges, um die beiden auseinander zu bringen. Dieses Hin und Her macht mich mittlerweile irgendwie müde.
Obwohl mir die meisten Charaktere gefallen (vor allem Lydia finde ich wirklich toll!), sind manche doch nur ihr Klischee (wie James' Eltern, der Direktor, Waren, der andere Freund, den sie Cys nennen oder so, und sogar Rubys Mutter?) und wirken auf mich unglaubhaft und total gekünstelt. Vielleicht liegt das ja auch einfach an dem Genre oder ich bin zu alt. Ganz ehrlich finde ich auch, dass sehr vieles zwischen James und Ruby zu überromantisiert ist... Sie weiß zwar, dass er mega sprunghaft ist, vergisst das aber von einem Moment auf den anderen? Und dann macht er auch eine 180-Grad Drehung mit seinem Leben wegen ihr? Er war ein partymachender drogennehmender Kerl, dann trifft er Ruby und alles ändert sich? Ich glaube ich mag nicht, welches Bild das so von Liebe macht. Ich denke, wir Frauen haben oft eine Helfersyndrom und wollen immer zwanghaft jemanden zum Guten bewegen, aber mittlerweile nervt das irgendwie nur auf sowas reduziert zu werden, wir sind doch nicht dafür da, um solche Kerle zu bekehren oder sie zu retten...
Ruby ist mir zwar ziemlich sympathisch, aber manchmal entscheidet sie sich auch von jetzt auf gleich um. Toll finde ich aber ihre Freundschaft mit Lydia und Linn!
Noch ein extra Punkt, auf den ich eingehen will, ist das Ende....
Wieso wird das ganze Buch über das Bild einer echt harmonischen Familie aufgebaut, und dann glaubt Rubys Mutter ihr nicht? Das macht für mich absolut keinen Sinn und ist nur ein frustrierender, doofer Cliffhanger. Und dann ist die Mutter so super enttäuscht von ihr, obwohl sie ihr nicht mal zugehört hat... total überdramatisch und unlogisch.
Alles in allem hat es sich wieder sehr schnell gelesen und ich bin trotzdem gespannt auf den nächsten Band! Der Schreibstil ist wie immer toll und obwohl ich so meine Probleme mit ein paar grundlegenden Sachen hier habe, gefällt mir die Reihe an sich.

This is one of those days I wish I were part of the 5% of the ARC reading community that was in Berkley's good graces and didn't have to scout out the Read Now section for the off-chance a Berkley book would be there. This series has taken over my entire life for the last 24 hours and I. Need. More. I can't with the cliffhangers. Like, I can't believe I have to wait another 3 MONTHS for Save Us to come out in the US. I have so many questions that need answers!

This is one of those days I wish I were part of the 5% of the ARC reading community that was in Berkley's good graces and didn't have to scout out the Read Now section for the off-chance a Berkley book would be there. This series has taken over my entire life for the last 24 hours and I. Need. More. I can't with the cliffhangers. Like, I can't believe I have to wait another 3 MONTHS for Save Us to come out in the US. I have so many questions that need answers!

Autsch. Leider auch nicht besser als der erste Teil.
Ich kann den Hype also immer noch nicht nachvollziehen, dont hate me!
Der zweite Teil knüpft recht nahtlos an das Ende des ersten Bandes an (welches ich ja ziemlich behämmert fand). Die Auflösung der Situation kam so wie es kommen musste und der Mittelteil des Buches gefiel mir zwischenzeitlich sogar fast. Allerdings bin ich kein großer Fan von diesen wechselnden Perspektiven gewesen. Hier bekommen nämlich sowohl Lydia als auch Ember ihre eigene Story/Perspektive. Den Plot rund um Lydia fand ich an sich sogar ganz interessant, Ember hingegen fand ich einfach nur naiv und nervig...
Abgesehen davon strotzt die Geschichte und die Charaktere wieder nur so vor Klischees und es las sich stellenweise echt wie eine billig produzierte Daily-Soap. Ich konnte das einfach alles nicht ernst nehmen. Gefühle kamen für mich auch null rüber.
Und dann war da noch das Ende, was ich sooooo unpassend fand. Warum reagiert Rubys Mutter da so? So wurde die Familie doch eigentlich nicht beschrieben?
Trotzdem habe ich das Buch nicht abgebrochen, weil es mich auf perfide Weise doch unterhalten hat, auch wenn vielleicht auf unfreiwillig komische Weise :D

Hat mir besser gefallen als Teil 1, aber so ganz rund ist die Story rund um James und Ruby für mich immer noch nicht.
Lin tat mir sehr sehr leid. Da sind auch an einer Stelle ein paar Tränen gekommen ...
Ich hoffe, dass sie im letzten Teil ebenfalls noch glücklich wird.
Lydia hab ich doch lieben gelernt, wobei mir Handlungsstränge von Allistair und Keshav gefehlt haben :(.
Da hätte ich gerne mehr gehabt ...
Und irgendwie finde ich immer, dass sich Monas Bücher an der einen oder anderen Stelle ziehen.

I love this book so much! Did anything major happen? …Not really—except for the last few chapters. But I loved it nonetheless. Watching Ruby and James reconcile and work through their misunderstandings made my heart so happy.
BUT—if James hurts Ruby again, I swear I’ll personally punch him so hard he won’t be able to see what’s right in front of him.
I know the 4 POVs might not be for everyone, but I actually really enjoyed seeing things from Lydia and Ember’s perspectives. I have a feeling we’ll get Graham’s POV in the next book, and I’m so excited for that!

The angst, the yearning, the characters' growth, all the emotions, the improvement in the writing, Ruby and James' relationship development, the new friendships, the hatred I have for James' father, the drama of it all... I was unable to stop reading.
I would love to add some of my favorite quotes but some of the Spanish expressions used in this translation are... interesting (I'm sorry, I'm not a fan of Spain Spanish translations) and I don't want to mistranslate anything ☹️, but I highlighted and annotated all over my ebook. And I'm moving immediately to do the same thing with the next book.
And, btw, I'm so happy they're beginning filming for the next season in the summer because I can't wait to see this on screen, it's gonna be so good!!

AHHHH THESE BOOKS MAKE ME FEEL SO INSANE WITH THE CLIFFIES
i this this book UP, im so glad that i reread save me over the weekend in preparation to start this one as it made everything feel fresh and like an open wound again and MANNNN the angst did not disappoint!!! the push and pull between ruby & james through out the first half of the book was *chefs kiss*. i was screaming at my kindle all day long while i binge read bc i just wanted them to kiss and make up but also how could you james beaufort!?!?!?!?! i absolutely LOVED the way james & ruby came back together finally, i loved the groveling and his begging. the way he finally was so adamant about not wanting to push her into making a decision she didnt actually want even if it hurt him to do it and her being like stfu and kiss me you idiot OH HOW I LOVED IT
i also really adored ruby & lydias friendship growing through out this book, i think ruby is the perfect friend that lydia needs right now and vice versa 🥹. the NYE scene with all of the girls hanging out to help ruby get out of bed was really sweet <3
the ending of this book once again has me SO on edge (thank the berkley gods i have save us sitting in my kindle ready to go). i am so intrigued to figure out whose plan it was to do what happened, how it was executed & if her sister played a part knowingly or unknowingly??
i absolutely LIVE for the drama of these books and i cannot wait to start the next, however i am a bit sad as that’ll mean theres no more but like.. 😫

Im Großen und Ganzen hat mir der 2. Teil der Maxton Hall Reihe ganz gut gefallen. Es ist an sich nicht viel passiert und das Buch ist nicht tiefgründig, aber die Geschichte ist unterhaltsam.
Der 2. Teil endet offen und ich bin am überlegen doch den 3. (und letzten) Teil der Reihe zu lesen.

4.5 out of 5 stars! ⭐️ What can I say... I am a ride or die Mona Kasten fangirl! Her books make me really happy and I just love her writing style. That’s why I seem to be flying through these books. I highly recommend her novels if you haven’t read them yet. ❤️
So here is what the romantic novel is about: Ruby ist am Boden zerstört. Noch nie hatte sie für jemanden so tiefe Gefühle wie für James. Und noch nie wurde sie so verletzt. Sie wünscht sich ihr altes Leben zurück ― als sie auf dem Maxton Hall College niemand kannte und sie kein Teil der elitären und verdorbenen Welt ihrer Mitschüler war. Doch sie kann James nicht vergessen. Vor allem nicht, als dieser alles daransetzt, sie zurückzugewinnen ...
What I specifically loved about this story was the narrative structure. We finally got to hear Ember’s and Lydia’s stories as well and it was interesting to get a glimpse into their lives. I loved that Mona broke away from the traditional ‘boy / girl narrative’. It definitely added more dimension to the story. Even though the stories had its weaknesses I could not give the novel less than 5 stars.
The cliffhanger at the end of the book was not as unbearable as the one from the first book. But hey I still hate these types of endings when I know that third novel of this book series won’t be published until August. Why though!!! I need the next part asap!?!? 😂
I have to say the only issue that I had when reading the novel were the numerous typos... I wish they would’ve proofread the book a couple more times more. 📑📝

Cuanto más leo Mona Kasten a más me gusta, sus historias son adictivas y frescas. Esta segunda entrega la he disfrutado un montón, me ha gustado mucho cómo se va desarrollando la historia entre los protagonistas pero además, algo que destaco es el crecimiento de los hermanos Beaufort. Si el primer libro era una montaña rusa de sentimientos y acontecimientos este no se queda atrás porque a lo largo de la novela no dejan de suceder cosas y tenemos mucho salseo, sobre todo, hacía los capítulos finales. De verdad, aún sigo anonadada porque no esperaba para nada ese desenlace 😱 Si os apetece adentraros en una historia de enemies to lovers, mucho salseo y que enganche tenéis que leeros esta novela 😉

#nohate aber ich verstehe den Hype um diese Reihe wirklich nicht. Klar, es ist ganz nett für zwischen durch aber mehr eben auch nicht. Ruby & James waren langweilig und haben eigentlich nichts gemacht ausser mal wieder einen Ball & ein Charity Event zu organisieren (really?). Lydia war diejenige, die mich dazu gebracht hat weiter zu lesen. Warum kann es kein Buch über sie geben?
Das Ende war dann (wie immer) so gestaltet, das auch jemand, der kein Fan der Reihe ist, den 3. Band förmlich lesen muss. Danke an dir Person, die Plot-twists ins Leben gerufen hat (NICHT!).
Band 1 hat uns alle an Gilmore Girls erinnert. Jetzt wechselt Mona Kasten zu Pretty Little Liars.
Das Schlimmste war, wie Ruby uns Lesern präsentiert wurde. Das soll eine engagierte Schülerin auf einem Elite College, an der sich Mädchen in meinem Alter ein Beispiel nehmen sollen, darstellen? Ruby hat 0 Substanz. Das einzige woran sie denkt ist Oxford, James hier James da und ihr Bullet-journal. Danke für diese Protagonistin, die wir schon in 1000 anderen YA/NA (welchem Genre auch immer dieses Buch zugeordnet werden soll...) gesehen.

Etwas schwächer als Band 1, aber trotzdem noch sehr gut. Monas Schreibstil ist einfach super und ich fand es interessant, dass in diesem Band weitere Sichten dazu kommen.

Une suite que j’ai pris plaisir à lire. Ce que j’aime c’est quand Ruby dit clairement à James que ce n’est pas à elle de le guérir, j’ai applaudi des deux mains enfin une héroïne qui n’a pas le syndrome du saint Bernard ça fait tellement de bien. Ruby évite James mais elle sait compartimenter ses sentiments et c’est une vraie amie pour Lydia. J’ai aimé que le lecteur ne soit pas toujours pris en otage dans la romance. Alors oui ça reste une romance mais les personnages avancent et ne restent pas stagner dans leur situation.

Ich mag Mona Kasten, aber mit Ruby und James werde ich nicht warm. Dieses auf und ab in der Beziehung nervt mich. Ich hab den Eindruck hier musste jede für diese Romanart typische Handlung eingebaut werden. Das langweilt etwas und ist auch zu vorhersehbar.
Außer dem Streiten und wieder Vertragen und Streiten und Vertragen und ein paar netten Schulveranstaltungen ist eigentlich nichts passiert.
Dafür hätte ich mir etwas mehr von Nebencharakteren wie zum Beispiel Alistair gewünscht. Statt hier angefangene Handlungen weiter zu führen, tauchen neue Handlungsstränge zu Cyril und Wren auf. Ich hoffe Mona schafft es all diese angefangenen Probleme/Handlungen irgendwie im dritten Teil zu lösen...

That ending lowkey pissed me off because seriously??? I could not believe Ruby's mom there is no way that all happened??? Is she dumb??? Like hello???
I'm really disappointed in this book honestly. At first I was liking it but then overtime it just got tiring. Ruby and James were quite literally miserable for 65% of the book and I really just got tired of the book being so depressing. I can handle sad/depressing books usually but this was also just really frustrating so that didn't help much. They did have some very sweet moments towards the end which I appreciate but also the last chapter has me just like... great, again...
Also I was initially excited for Lydia and Ember's chapters because I thought they would be interesting but NO omg especially for Ember's chapters??? Big no for me, she actually annoyed me so much??? And you're telling me there's going to be a romance between Ember and WREN??? HELL NO. Wren that bastard??? And then Lydia's chapters also I just lost interest in and it actually made me realize that I hate the accidental pregnancy plot line (which I believe this was my first time encountering in a book?? unless I'm forgetting), but ESPECIALLY because it's with a teacher💀 Yeah, I was very uncomfortable! And once again, I hate James's friends. So much. Though when I say James's friends, I'm thinking about Cyril (god I want to punch him ) and Wren (never forgetting how he drugged Ruby). Alistair and Kesh are cool, though to be fair we barely see them here but also they've done nothing wrong so far in this series sooo. I was hoping James's would find better friends but alas. To be honest, it's not like I have any interest in continuing this series!
Ohhh but that ending. I really can't believe how stupid that all was. I loved book one and especially Ruby and James so much but this was not it. Very disappointed in this sequel.

I'm really disappointed in this book honestly. At first I was liking it but then overtime it just got tiring. Ruby and James were quite literally miserable for 65% of the book and I really just got tired of the book being so depressing. I can handle sad/depressing books usually but this was also just really frustrating so that didn't help much. They did have some very sweet moments towards the end which I appreciate but also the last chapter has me just like... great, again...
Also I was initially excited for Lydia and Ember's chapters because I thought they would be interesting but NO omg especially for Ember's chapters??? Big no for me, she actually annoyed me so much??? And you're telling me there's going to be a romance between Ember and WREN??? HELL NO. Wren that bastard??? And then Lydia's chapters also I just lost interest in and it actually made me realize that I hate the accidental pregnancy plot line (which I believe this was my first time encountering in a book?? unless I'm forgetting), but ESPECIALLY because it's with a teacher💀 Yeah, I was very uncomfortable!
