Liz has become an expert at spying on her neighbors ever since taking time off to write her first novel. One day, Liz receives a piece of mail for a woman named Sabrina by mistake. She quickly becomes obsessed with Sabrina after what she sees when she tries to return the mail.
Shockingly, Sabrina’s husband, Gavin, is found dead just a few days later. Liz is convinced that Sabrina had something to do with it. As her obsession continues to grow, Liz will stop at nothing to prove that Sabrina is guilty.
Meanwhile, Sabrina is more concerned with keeping her roster of men running smoothly despite being a suspect in her own husband’s murder. As her life begins to unravel, she wonders if she would have been better off with Gavin still around after all.
Although their lives are worlds apart, Liz and Sabrina actually have a lot in common.
Will Liz uncover the truth about Sabrina before it’s too late?
Or will her obsession get the best of her?
Either way, they’re both about to find out what happens when worlds collide.
First I want to say huge congratulations to the author on this debut novel!!! Publishing a book is such an INCREDIBLE achievement and I was genuinely excited to pick up this thriller! I've been itching for a good thriller and the premise caught my attention right away
This story is told in dual POV from two HIGHLY flawed complex women who find themselves at the center of a murder investigation. it definitely delivers on the classic “whodunnit” vibe 👀
That said there were a few elements that didn’t fully click for me.... some of the dialogue felt a bit novice at times and didn’t flow as naturally as I’d like. The frequent use of certain nicknames began to feel repetitive for me and pulled me out of the story
I really see a lot of potential in this author’s storytelling! The plot itself had great momentum and I think with a bit more polish, future books could really shine. I’d absolutely be open to reading more from this author
I thoroughly enjoyed this. I loved how fast paced it felt. I enjoyed the story line and the desperate housewives vibe I got from it. I didn’t see the twist coming and it literally made my jaw drop. I had to read that twice to make sure I didn’t misread what I read. It reeled me in from the very beginning and I couldn’t put it down. I loved how catty Sabrina was. Her banter and snide remarks made me giggle. The nosey neighbor Liz felt relatable. Everyone’s had a nosy neighbor at some point in their life. The only thing I found slightly off putting were the nicknames but it wasn’t anything I couldn’t overlook and it didn’t ruin the book for me. For being self publish it was a solid book & I went ahead and purchased a physical copy to keep on my shelf. I’d definitely recommend this if you’re looking for a fast paced quick read!
Congratulations Lauren on an awesome debut! I was doing a buddy read of this one with some lovely people and it was a buddy read fail, as in I couldn’t stop reading!
Who has not gone for a neighborhood and wondered what happens behind closed doors? Well here, Liz takes it to the extreme! This book had 2 POVs and while neither Liz or Sabrina is likeable, it made me even more invested to see what craziness was coming next.
This book had twists and turns and the epilogue made my eyebrows go way up. It was a quick thrilling read. I recommend you give it a try!
Well truth is, I’m always a little nervous when authors reach out to me to read their work. I’m so glad a couple of my friends read this together. We had great theories about where the story was going and let’s say, I don’t think any of us were right! If you like the whole “nosy neighbor” then you will enjoy this. The story kept its momentum the whole time. This is a great debut for the author. I do feel some things writing wise need to be polished, but it didn’t take anything away from the story or how it made me feel.
Let me start with what I liked. I thought the twist was interesting. I didn’t see it coming and I enjoyed how the story played out in terms of the mystery. I thought it was pretty clever how the characters were connected and I appreciate the way she weaved their stories together. I also like dual POV.
Some of my issue is this book is centered on a theme of cheating and I just don’t really love that, this isn’t the author’s fault and I didn’t factor this into my rating.
I unfortunately couldn’t stand Liz or Sabrina. Both characters were hard to care about. Sabrina was particularly awful, she was so conceited. Liz had her own issues. I also was not a big fan of the inner monologue style of narration, partially because it got a bit repetitive and partially because they were so awful it was not fun to read. I also didn’t love a lot of the cringey exclaimed statements which I know people think that way and that’s believable but it didn’t translate well for me.
I really think if the narration had been different or I could have cared about Liz or Sabrina I would have been more on board because the storyline itself was interesting and had a good twist.
Thank you to the author for letting me read this book and all opinions are my own.
I read When Worlds Collide in a single day, I simply couldn’t put it down. Lauren Dykovitz’s debut fiction novel is a gripping blend of sinister suspense, mystery, and emotional depth.
The story unravels through the perspectives of Liz and Sabrina, two women living in the same neighborhood but existing in completely different worlds. I found myself deeply moved by Liz’s character and her inner world, while Sabrina’s actions kept me guessing, at times I wasn’t sure what to make of her, which only added to the intrigue.
Dykovitz’s writing is compelling and sharp, pulling you into the tension and complexity of both women’s lives. And those twists at the end? Absolutely brilliant, they took me by surprise in the best way possible.
I highly recommend When Worlds Collide to anyone who enjoys a thought provoking, character driven thriller. This certainly won’t be the last time I read Lauren Dykovitz’s work.
A good, easy read. It was very repetitive though. I think the book could have been a 5⭐️ if it was half the length it is because it felt very drug out. Good twist at the end; My mouth was definitely on the floor!
When Worlds Collide is such a smart and bingeable read. It’s fast-paced but still gives you time to get into the heads of both main characters, and I loved every second of it.
Liz is on a one-year break from her law career to write a novel. But instead of writing, she starts watching her neighborhood closely, especially during frequent dog walks. One misdelivered letter addressed to Sabrina changes everything. Sabrina is elegant, polished, and clearly used to being the center of attention. She gives off major high school queen energy. Liz is fascinated and becomes more and more invested in who this woman really is.
When Sabrina’s husband turns up dead, Liz starts connecting the dots. The more she thinks about what she’s seen, the more convinced she is that Sabrina is hiding something. And maybe Liz is the only one who can prove it.
The dual POVs work really well. Both Liz and Sabrina are flawed, messy, and completely believable. I especially appreciated how the story plays with themes of envy, image, and control without making it feel exaggerated.
This is a great debut. I read it in a day and would absolutely read more from this author.
This was highly entertaining! I picked it up on a whim after I saw the author promote it in a Facebook group. It was just what I needed to read too after a string of disappointing thrillers/mysteries. The characters were unlikable in the best way. They fit the story! I knew who the killer was going to be, but I didn’t really know who it was actually. You’ll have to read it to find out what I mean. There were just a few things I would have liked to have seen differently. Some of the phrasing was repetitive, and I wish Sabrina’s back story had been fleshed out more. Otherwise, this was a great thriller, and I look forward to reading more from this author!
I came across this book on a Facebook page the author is in. She posted about her book with the description. Once reading the description I knew it was a book I had to read. I didn’t realize how GOOD it was actually going to be, especially from a new, not so “known” author.
However, this book was absolutely phenomenal and kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time I was reading it and when I couldn’t read it, I couldn’t stop thinking about it.
The appreciation she shows at the very end of the book to multiple people, especially all other authors, was huge to me! Never forget to be thankful for all you have in life - especially the journey it takes to get you there.
I’ll have to look for the memoirs she has written for her mother who suffered with Alzheimer’s.
All in all, I hope she writes more books - this was a great read!
‘When Worlds Collide’ is like an unfilmed season of Desperate Housewives or Why Women Kill. Black comedy is a tough genre. This book nailed it. Comedy needs artistic license to stretch plausibility. I found this book was more plausible than many serious thrillers I’ve read recently. Fast-paced with deliciously flawed characters.
OMG! I loved this book. Mysteries are my favorites and this one wowed me and surprised me. I read this so fast, I just couldn’t put it down. It’s truly one of those books after you finish it, you have to read it again just to make sure you read every detail.
I was hooked within the first few chapters. This book paints such a clear picture, it’s like watching a movie. And the twist? Did not see that coming. It was so good I had to buy a hard copy after reading it on KU because I just HAD to own this book. 10/10
When a new local author reaches out to your bookclub requesting you check out her book, it’s a must to check it out. I put together a group of 15 of us to buddy read (4 days) in hopes we all like the book. Well. 1 person finished it in a day, and at least 7 more were “buddy read fails” finishing it up early.
This book was SUCH A GOOD DEBUT. it was quick, easy to read, great plot. It can easily suck you in and be read in 1 sitting. It gives very much desperate housewives vibes with the nosey neighbor Liz who inserts herself into a recent neighborhood crime, determined to be a part of solving it. We got 2 POVs, with 2 very different, very unlikable characters (unlikable but like a train wreck, you can’t look away). There was quite a few shock factors and just such a great summer thriller read.
I highly highly recommend giving this debut author a read, you won’t be disappointed!
This is an absolutely grabber right from the beginning! I decided to read it because the Author posted about it in a Facebook group. I moved it to the top of my TBR pile on my Kindle and im sooo incredibly happy I did!
Loved this book. I enjoyed this book the minute I began reading it. It was well written, with relatable characters, fast paced and I never would have guessed the ending!
3.5 ⭐️ rounded up because she's a brand new author and her first book! Lots of twists and turns. Fast easy read. Was suggested this book in a psychological thriller book group on FB and enjoyed it.
Wow! I failed this as a 4 day buddy read because I just needed to know what happens next! The characters felt so real and like Liz, I quickly became obsessed with the drama on Cranberry Drive. I think the author does a great job with pacing and having a distinct difference between the characters voice and personalities including the lineup of men at Sabrina's door. I highly recommend to anyone who enjoyed shows like Desperate Housewives or Weeds based off of the aesthetics alone haha
I look forward to reading more from @laurendykovitzauthor and honestly would love to know the story that Liz finally sits down to write haha it's time to hang up those walking shoes, girl. They must have holes in them by now! 4.75 / 5

This reminded me of a Ruth Ware book. I figured most of it out almost from the beginning. There was one part where I was wrong, but guessed the rest. It was still a good read. I enjoyed it
