A Kingdom Ruthless and Radiant: A Fae Fantasy Romance

Rate this book
A captivating slow-burn, magical fantasy romance perfect for fans of Sarah J. Maas, Danielle L. Jensen, Carissa Broadbent, LJ Andrews, and Elise Kova.

The Fae King is in an uproar, and I’m back in the dungeon, being punished for the crime of being a human and loving his son.

Just when I think my life is over, the jailer makes a snide remark about my “mysterious appeal to princes,” and one appears.

Only it’s not Stellon who’s come to free me but the other prince—his wicked brother Pharis.

When he tosses me onto the back of his enormous black horse and rides me away into the dark night, I think I might be better off in the dungeon than with this grumpy, scary-powerful Fae.

Pharis has no use for the human race and even less for a penniless commoner like me. He’s only doing this out of loyalty to his brother.

So why did he take the long way instead of taking me right to my village?
And act so protective when we ran into trouble on the road?

And why, when we have to seek shelter from a rainstorm in a cave, does that spark I felt at the royal ball feel like it might combust into a wildfire that could burn the Fae Court to the ground?

The more time I spend with him, the more secrets I unearth, the more confused I become about this growly, mysterious prince.

And the more I learn about myself, the more dangerous this Kingdom becomes for me and my family.

A Kingdom Ruthless and Radiant is the second book of the Age of Fae romantasy series, a slow-burn, enemies-to-lovers magical fantasy romance series set in the beautiful and dangerous world of the High Fae where magic rules, secrets abound, and true love will not be denied.

It's a fast-paced romantic fantasy that will enchant readers who crave delicious romantic banter, toe-curling tension and sizzling chemistry, immersive and accessible world-building, and royal Fae intrigue.

Readers who love a morally gray MMC and character-driven high fantasy like Stephanie Garber's Once Upon a Broken Heart series, The Bridge Kingdom, Spark of the Everflame, These Hollow Vows, Daughter of No Worlds, Powerless, A Court of Thorns and Roses, and the Broken Kingdom series will devour A Kingdom Ruthless and Radiant.

I love writing, and I love LOVE. I've been writing seriously since 2010 and have written 35 books (and counting!) Most of them are YA and NA romantic fantasy. There's a dash of paranormal and dystopian romance in my book list as well.

I'm honored to be an Amazon bestseller and multi-award winning author of the bestselling Hidden Saga, which is a 10-book Fae fantasy romance series, the heart-pounding Crimson Accord vampire romance series.

My new Romantasy series, Age of Fae, begins with A Court Bright and Broken, which released on Valentine's Day 2025. Book 2, A Kingdom Ruthless and Radiant comes out May 23rd 2025!

I live in Rhode Island where I write in my car at the beach year round and sometimes crave the heat and humidity of Mississippi, where I grew up. I love hearing from my readers! Reach out and say hi anytime.

Thank you so much to the author for an early copy!

This is one of those cases I loved the sequel as much, or maybe even more than, the original! And if you’ve forgotten parts of book one, don’t worry. There’s a lovely rundown of book one at the beginning to rejog your memory. I knew the second we met him in book one that I would love Pharis, and boy was I right. The comparison to pangolins absolutely cemented him as number 1 in my mind. I really love Amy’s writing, and devoured this book so fast.

Book two steps away from the Cinderella retelling vibes of book one, and really dives into the world of fae politics. It’s easy to understand, but has enough for a seasoned fantasy reader to be engaged in the world as well. I loved learning more about the wider world in this one, and I’m so excited for more travelling in book 3? Please?

I’m not normally a big love triangle fan, but I was loving this one. Maybe because I’m so firmly on one side, and have been from the start. I think maybe certain fantasy books have ruined me when it comes to first love interests 😂.

I loved diving into Raewyn’s family as well. I’m a sucker for “dark, brooding male is secretly a softie around children”, so I ate that up. Raewyn’s father was such a lovely character, and him and the girls had better be living their best, peaceful lives from now on.

And THAT ENDING. Amy please, I was not prepared. I need more Pharis and Raewyn yesterday, and I will be so impatiently waiting for more!

A Kingdom Ruthless and Radiant (The Age of Fae, Book 2) by Amy Patrick is an absolute whirlwind! I devoured it in one sitting—it’s packed with nonstop action, tension, and twists that kept me glued to the pages.

If you love a morally grey man, let me introduce you to Pharis—the brother of our FMC’s love interest. He’s complicated, brooding, and totally captivating. Honestly? I’m 100% Team Pharis. He’s multilayered, intriguing, and I need to know if he’ll go full villain in the next book. The ending was wild and left me stunned—I’m already counting down the days until book 3!

This second book really shifts the series away from the Cinderella-inspired vibes of book one and takes us deeper into the world of fae politics, betrayals, and romance. We’ve got a love triangle, a slow-burn enemies-to-lovers romance, low spice, and easy-to-follow worldbuilding—perfect for fantasy readers who want something intense but not overwhelming.

I loved it and highly recommend it to fans of morally grey characters, fae intrigue, and slow-burn tension. Thanks to the author for the gifted eARC!

👑 The vibes:
- Book 2 in trilogy
- Political intrigue
- Fantasy
- Forbidden romance x2
- Morally grey characters
- Fae x humans
- Villain origin story
- Closed door

👑 My thoughts:
This is book 2 in a trilogy, so I will keep it vague with no spoilers in the bulk of the review. One spoiler thought at the veryyyy end below the “note”.

👑 For a book 2 in a trilogy, I was so happy with how fast moving this plot was. This was not a boring filler book. I loved getting a new POV so much.

👑 After finishing this, I don’t know anything. I don’t know who to root for. I don’t know who has good intentions. I don’t know who the villain is. I don’t know who is end game. But also I am low key obsessed that I don’t know. I don’t know what the author put in these books but I devoured books 1&2 in a few days. 🙈

👑 I’m not saying that this trilogy is flawlessly executed at every single moment or that there’s zero room for opposing thoughts on some of the plot points. BUT I am saying that I have been completely obsessed and fully immersed in everything about these first two books. I could not put them down, and I finished them both in three days. It’s embarrassing but also a strong testament to the fast-paced nature of the trilogy so far.

Note- closed door; lots of innuendos

I loved seeing Raewyn and Pharis on their forced proximity escape journey, it was filled with increasing tension, action, bonding, and seeing the hidden side of Pharis.
I liked seeing his vulnerability and confusion over his feelings, and his jealousy and resentment over his brother being the one to get everything. It was heartbreaking seeing how he saw himself as second best, and I loved how he uses a mask to hide his true feelings and play the villain.
The love triangle is definitely causing chaos, and the pressure from escaping the Fae king, the earthwife schemes is heating up. Also loved learning more about their unique Glamours, and seeing Pharis in action.
It's a layered plot with complex characters, and I am dying to know what will happen next after those final intense chapters. I am rooting for Pharis!

ARC Review: First, thank you Amy Patrick for the e-arc! And if I wasn’t working, this would have been read in one sitting as well! I ATE this book!

What to expect:
Slow Burn
One horse and One Bed
Morally gray MMC
Secrets kept then revealed
Enemies to Lovers
Yearning and Banter

We pick up where we left off with Raewyn, Stellon and Pharis. The Cinderella theme from book 1 has faded into an Anastasia type of journey, with yearning, banter and slow burn.

I adore the vulnerable moments between our two characters in this book. I love the found family that Pharis find in Wyns family. And the slow burn to just kisses is perfect!

5⭐️ again!

Book 2 of the Age of Fae Romantasy Series was so good!!!! I’m absolutely addicted to this series.

In Book 2, you learn more about Pharis, and his character truly shines. I had a positive impression of Pharis in the first installment, but I wasn’t entirely sure about him at first. He’s my favorite now!!!

Amy Patrick’s writing is phenomenal! This book was emotional at times, had some suspenseful moments, and the intimacy was beautifully portrayed. Each chapter was exciting, and I found myself eager to know more. This is a must-read, and I highly recommend this series!

This is Book 2 of the Age of Fae series and man did it show up and show out Book 1!!! I loved Book 1 but mannnn….. Book 2 is everything you could want in a Romantasy. We get to know more about Pharis on this journey and I have been waiting since the Bonus Scene from Book 1 to get to know this Elven male. Get ready to fall in love with yet another MMC who would do anything for his “perfect match” 🖤 Are you ready to meet Pharis?

A Kingdom Ruthless and Radiant instantly picks off where A Court Bright and Broken left off. Many of my thoughts are similar to what I mentioned about Book 1. However, I was delighted to see more of Prince Pharis in this book. I couldn't say much about him before, but now I'm blown away by the depth of his character. He hides a deep hurt within himself, and his barriers might make him appear cruel, but this facade is gradually dissolved as Raewyn solidifies her place in his life. He is unquestionably the most complicated character in the Age of Fae series, and his dedication to Raewyn and her family is unparalleled. However, as far as I'm concerned, he will have a lot to explain and make up for at the start of the next book, as the ending clearly indicated that a Sleeping Beauty, Beauty and the Beast, or Rapunzel retelling is in the works, and I really hope he does not delve into the darker aspects of those fairytales.

I really don't think Pharis will fall into this trap!

I consumed this book so quickly due to how it introduces the reader to more of the world while also featuring yearning, betrayal, revelations, and sizzling tension. Unlike the other book, the writing in this one felt more rushed, so I don't think it'll work for everyone. I thought it was slightly episodic, but the style worked for me because the characters were on the road, and the first-person narration served as a travel diary entry. However, in the end, the style reverted back to the previous book, with the characters becoming more stationary and a lot of organised chaos building to the end. This is how I read Amy's writing in this book, and I'd love to know whether anyone else felt the same way. Again, it may not be for everyone, but I really enjoyed it.

Raewyn was once again a fantastic FMC; she did mature in this book, and all of her core fundamentals remained the same. We also got to see more of her interactions with her family, which was a joy to read. I adore her younger sisters, who have a talent for interrupting at the worst times. Her character grew more endearing, in my opinion, even though I occasionally thought, "you really can't be this naïve," but it also slightly enhanced the charm of the book's journey.

A Kingdom Ruthless and Radiant shifted its attention away from Stellan, The Crown Prince, and towards his younger brother. As I previously stated, his character has a long way to go, but it became evident that maintaining his naivety and unawareness was effective. When I say effective, I mean the contrast and discovery of Pharis' background and feelings, which put Stellan in the position of being privileged, selfish, and oblivious that comes from having the illusion of having to work for something while still receiving everything. He seemed to take more ownership of Raewyn's feelings than genuinely listening to her, which I believe stemmed from his wanting to simply be with her. But when it came down to it, he was all talk and no action.

Although there was a love triangle framework, it was subtly woven into the story, and as you can probably guess, I am 100% Team Pharis. After that build-up to the ending, I believe both Pharis and Raewyn will have a lot of making up to do in the next book, but after seeing how they interact with one another and the trust they share - which needs to be rebuilt - the was these two talk about and address their problems puts their relationship in good standing. I also support Pharis since he spotted and recognised all of the components that I pointed out in my previous review to make a stand; so I'm literally jumping up and down cheering him on for that. His stand, however, can be seen as a bit controversial.

Favourite Quotes:

"Illusions only go so far. The real soul of a person always shines through, don't you find?"

"I'm free. I'm right here. I may not be the Crown Prince, the golden boy, the chosen one everyone wants. But I want you. More than anything I've ever wanted in my entire cursed life. I have to have you, little Wyn."

The closer you allowed someone to get, the more damage they could do to you.

Suddenly all the myriad moments of my life when I'd been overlooked and overshadowed and pushed aside no longer mattered. Because they were more than made up for by this, something - someone - who was uniquely mine, made just for me.

"You're not just 'some human,'" he said. Then his voice softened. "You're my human.

Finished in one sitting because I just couldn’t put it down.

Pharis, you are either a brilliant man willing to do anything for love or a Machiavellian poster child. I guess we’ll finally get confirmation on that when book 3 drops next year, but in my heart, I’m going with lovesick hero willing to do anything to save the woman he loves.

Raewyn’s life can only get better, right? When we last saw her in book 1 Crown Prince Stellon had tried to free her from the dungeon and carry her off into the night to freedom. Of course he’s caught and she’s back in the dungeons… again.

The royal spare, Pharis, agrees to free her and flee, but Stellon also insists Pharis take her far away and never reveal her location to Stellon as he does not want his father, the King (and Evil Incarnate), to be able to pull her location from his mind.

Pharis accomplishes this and takes Raewyn home to her father and young siblings and makes his way back to the castle. Why? Well, if you haven’t read the bonus short story of the Betrothal Ball from Pharis’s POV then you’re in for a treat because it’s included here waiting for you.

When the king heads out to track Raewyn down and haul her back as part of his harem, Pharis races back to Raewyn and manages to get her and her family out of her hometown just minutes away from the king’s party arriving and searching the town for the girl who has managed to capture not only the heart of Stellon, but t that of Pharis as well.

Raewyn, on the run now with her blind and crippled father and her 4 and 8 year old sisters, must rely on Pharis to keep them safe. Not only has she come to trust Pharis, but her attraction to him is far stronger than anything she had with Stellon.

But can she really know what’s true and what is a lie when she’s heard so many rumors that paint her rescuer with such a horrific reputation for manipulating the hearts of many a girl for his own selfish desires?

Will Pharis drop his shield of callous behavior and disregard to reveal the boy inside that believes no one will ever see who he really is and accept him anyway or is it all just another elaborate con to make Raewyn let go of her love for Stellon or is it some elaborate joke to break his new human pet?

For me? I believe he is sincere but when forced to scramble when the tables turn he may have passed the point of no return in order to claim his prize and free himself from his father’s grip. No matter which way you slice it, not only was this a great second novel that surpassed the original, but promises to pack an even better punch with book three’s release later this year..

Love him or hate him, but Pharis is a man worth rooting for.

I did receive an ARC copy for early review, but this has not influenced my opinions or rating. Having now read the story, I am happy to have an official copy on preorder to my personal library on book release day, because independent authors deserve all of the support we can give them!

📚A Kingdom Ruthless and Radiant by Amy Patrick📚

Overall Rating:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Spice Rating: 🫑

✨Tropes✨
👑Forced Proximity
👑One Horse
👑One Cave
👑Fae x Human
👑Forbidden Romance
👑Steamy Tension
👑He Falls First
👑Touch Her & 💀

✨Initial Thoughts✨
I devoured this book! I didn’t want to put it down and actually be a functioning member of society. Just like book one, book two felt comforting in a way that’s hard to describe. Because while book one is a retelling of Cinderella, book two isn’t. In fact, the two main characters, Raewyn and Pharis, are on the run from the King who wants to kill Raewyn. But while impending capture is always looming, I didn’t feel unbearably caught up in worrying about their capture. I was most focused on the slow burn tension.

✨Pros✨
* The recap of book one in the beginning. I have the bookish memory of a goldfish and the recap in the beginning was wonderfully thorough. I wish all series had recaps, and this one specifically was excellent.
* The slow burn, forbidden romance is done so well! There is yearning, pinning, and steamy tension that kept me hooked. Loved it!
* There is great character development, which is always important to see. Especially when most of the book is with the characters on the run from what happened in book one. I do have a small complaint which I will talk about in the cons section. However, overall, I felt like I got to know the main characters really well.

✨Cons✨
* Some of the lines were a bit cliche and cringe. Not enough to put me off, but enough to notice.
* I feel like the ending was a bit of a let down. Specifically Raewyn’s reaction to what Pharis said and did. She lost all sense (and some of my respect) despite Pharis proving himself willing to do anything to keep her safe (don’t even get me started on Stellon and his stupidity). I did enjoy the twist in the story, and I’m definitely excited to read the next book. I think my main complaint is that Raewyn went through so much growth on her journey with Pharis only to revert all the way back to the way she was before. It was disappointing. But again, not enough to stop me from being excited to read the next book.
* Nicknames!!! I hate all nicknames that aren’t apart of a person’s name. So while I was a tiny bit irked by “Little Wyn,” at least it was technically part of Raewyn’s name. The other nicknames I just hated. Like in all of my reviews, I recognized that this is a personal preference and there are plenty of people out there who like nicknames. Could never be me though.

A Kingdom Ruthless and Radiant by Amy Patrick

This is book 2 in The Age of Fae series, and I believe I have to say I might actually feel like this one was better than the first. The first book was outstanding!

Raewynn finds herself back in the dungeon after the King discovers her and Stellon attempting to escape. Stellon is locked up in his rooms, but Pharis has the freedom to roam and promises Stellon that he will take care of Raewynn. So, Pharis rescues her from the dungeon and takes her home to her family.

When Pharis returns to the castle, he finds that the king is going to hunt Raewynn.. Pharis hurries back to Raewynn, but she won’t leave without her family. The two-person trip becomes a journey with three adults (one of whom is blind) and two children on two horses. They travel like this for weeks, while getting to know each other along the way.

As they continue to ride, Raewynn’s father’s health begins to fail, and it becomes necessary to stop their travel to find help. They find a very isolated village up a mountain with sheltered people who did not have a lot of contact with outsiders, but they were very welcoming, and the healer agreed to help Raewynn’s father. Pharis and co. were given a cottage to stay in and were finally able to sleep in comfortable beds after camping for so long.

I wanted to pick this book up every free minute I had to see what was happening next; it was that good. I devoured it in a day and a half! Now I just can’t wait for the next book to come out!

Amy Patrick has done it again with A Kingdom Ruthless and Radiant. This second installment in the Age of Fae series grabs you from the first page and doesn’t let go. It’s everything I hoped for after the first book—only richer, darker, and more emotionally intense.

Raewyn’s journey takes a heart-wrenching turn as she finds herself punished for the "crime" of loving a Fae prince. The emotional stakes are sky-high, and the world-building continues to impress. The political intrigue, courtly danger, and Fae magic all blend seamlessly into a gripping story that had me reading late into the night.

What truly sets this book apart, though, is the romance. It’s rare to find a love triangle that feels this organic and emotionally charged. I didn’t expect to fall for both princes, but here I am, completely torn. Pharis and Evander each bring something different and beautiful to the page, and the tension between them and Raewyn is magnetic.

The pacing is fast but never rushed, and the emotional moments hit hard. There are twists I didn’t see coming, and the ending left me desperate for the next book. Amy Patrick’s prose is vivid and immersive, making this a true standout in the romantasy genre.

If you're a fan of Sarah J. Maas, Rebecca Yarros, or Elise Kova, this series needs to be on your radar. A Kingdom Ruthless and Radiant is a great sequel that delivers everything I want in a fantasy romance: high stakes, deep feels, and characters I can’t stop thinking about.

Fast-paced, addictive, and simmering with tension. I have contradictory feelings about so much of the book. I have a love/hate relationship with the MMCs. Pharis is so sweet and overprotective with Raewyn but then it borders on stalker-y/obsessive, questionable, and even cringey. He wants and almost seems to need her (again it feels like there's almost a magical component to it because-just like Stellon- he falls for Raewyn hard and fast) in a way that is purely for himself without really caring about HER sometimes. HE wants to feel truly loved by someone and because the matchmaker glamour said they were well-suited he seems to almost feel entitled to Raewyn and her love. Stellon and Pharis' desire for her feels like she's a prize to be won verses a person to be loved at points in this story. Part of me just wants this to end with Raewyn riding off into the sunset on her own as a fiercely independent badass women and leave these two idiots in the dust. But then the ending happened and *spoiler alert* there is something so satisfying about Pharis's morally grey, "I will literally do anything to save her" mentality. Despite some of the qualms I have with the MMCs, I couldn't put this book down and can't wait for book 3! Thank you Amy Patrick for the e-ARC of this book, I feel very lucky to have the opportunity to read and review this early!

A Kingdom Ruthless and Radiant is book two in the Age of Fae series—and I was gagging to get my hands on it. Book one was a read that really lingered with me… I couldn't help but replay scenes in my head long after I was finished, which really says it all.

Raewyn has been locked away by the Fae King, used as a pawn thanks to Stellon’s feelings for the lowly human girl. But then he shows up… Pharis. Stellon’s brother. The brooding, sharp-edged prince who’s made it very clear he wants nothing to do with Raewyn. At Stellon’s request, Pharis helps Raewyn escape. Now they’re on the run, desperate to stay ahead of the king who will stop at nothing to get her back.

But the more time they spend together, the more everything starts to shift. Raewyn begins to see another side of Pharis—a deeper side. And as hidden truths come to light, she finds herself torn between the two princes. Where does her heart truly lie? Where does her loyalty belong—and where does his?

I needed more Pharis—and I got more Pharis. And now? I’m absolutely feral for him. The way he cares for Raewyn, her sisters, and her father? Pure perfection. Their slow-burn connection had me completely hooked, and I loved watching their bond deepen with every page. But that ending? That ending.

I need time to process.

Someone hold me until book three drops.

If I'm being totally honest I have to admit I was a little apprehensive about reading AKRAR. We all knew from the cliffhanger this book would be about Raewynn and Pharis which I was not a fan of. She was supposed to be with Stellon and that was that as far as I was concerned. Boy was I wrong! You know that feeling you have when you meet that person and you are so taken with them that you want to spend every waking moment with them and everything that isn't being with them is less than? That delicious feeling....that's what reading this felt like. Raewynn and Pharis's relationship evolves from the time they spend together, the conversations they have and their shared experiences while fleeing to safety. I was completely absorbed with these two together and I did not want to put it down. I am 100% Team Pharis. If I had any Sway I would use it to make Amy Patrick have Pharis be the victor in the end. Sadly I am a mere human. There's nothing I can do but wait for book three and hope it goes my way....

Where the first book may have been lacking for some this one more than makes up for any shortcomings readers had. I liked this book better than ACBAB. This book is the Empire Strikes Back in the saga. Star Wars was good, but Empire was better.

I absolutely DEVOURED this book - it was such a great sequel, and I almost want to say I liked it even more than book 1! Speaking of book 1 - Amy was so thoughtful and included a RECAP of A Court Bright and Broken at the beginning of this book!!! I thought that was really great and thoughtful, and surely made my life easier!

While book 1 was akin to a Cinderella retelling, book 2 was more a deep dive into this world and the characters - and i loved it! I am a huge fan of love triangles, especially when I have a STRONG favorite, hahaha. I was SWOONING over Pharis and the girls for most of the book, I loved seeing his softie side so much. I also loved seeing Raewyn with the girls and also Raewyn breaking down & showing her vulnerable side to Pharis and him comforting her - we love a growth moment.

THAT ENDING?! I knew something was afoot, but I was SAT and glued to my kindle and I cannot wait to read what happens in the next book!!! Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I would recommend to anyone looking for a fun romantasy read!

Thank you to the author for the eARC of this book - I am voluntarily leaving my honest review after reading.

Rating: 4.5 Stars!

ARC BOOK REVIEW

A Kingdom Ruthless and Radiant by Amy Patrick

Stars: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Spice: 🌶
Recommend: 🤌🏽🤌🏽🤌🏽🤌🏽🤌🏽

I am being pulled in two directions!! 🙃

What can I say? This book was absolutely amazing and has completely overthrown my mind and heart.

I have always loved Amy Patrick and her books. She knows how to draw you in and keep you glued to your book needing to know what is going to happen.

Book one was so good, but after reading book 2 I am completely blown away. I was team Stellon and my heart broke for them at the end of book 1, but now I am at a standstill.... I am now teal Pharis now too.

I don't really know who I want her to end up with. My heart is being pulled in two different directions and now I am dying to know what's going to happen after the end of book 2.

This series is so good it's almost at the top with The Hidden Series.

I need more!!! 😭😭😭
I definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves a good romantasy and well of course if you love anything written by the amazing Amy Patrick. Go get your copy today!!

I really enjoyed getting to see Raewyn and Pharis together. Girl blossomed with Pharis over Stellan (for reasons, obvious and not). I also really loved all the banter between Raewyn and Pharis as well as Pharis and Raewyn's Dad. Honestly, Pharis is just a  genuinely entertaining character. Especially, away from his father and brother's influence/shadow. Seeing him on his own definitely made him more likeable. To be honest, Raewyn was more likeable when she was with Pharis too.
And even though Pharis has a tendency to hide his rather brilliant and strategic mind behind either a cruel veneer, or an uncaring facade, or sarcasm, he seems to care far more than anyone gives him credit for. He also seems to be far more genuine in his affections towards Raewyn.
That ending though, I feel could go in either direction with its implications. Although, it seemed like it may be potentially leaning in a very gray area. Overall, I liked this book. It had all the action, banter, humor, romance, and plot twists that kept me engaged and turning the pages. I'm definitely excited for the last book!

Absolutely loved the chemistry build up between Pharis and Raewynn, the author did a great job of balancing out the POV chapters between mainly Pharis and Raewynn, but also with Stellon for a few chapters. The ending truly left me devastated and torn between who Raewynn will end up with. I'm usually not one for entertaining a love triangle trope, especially if it is between two brothers; however because this is a no-to-low spice book, with just a lot of pining and yearning (LOOOVVEEE this), I ate this book up in one day. Progressing through the book and learning more about Pharis' back story and why he is the way he is just made me like him even more; the younger brother always getting pushed to the side and then also carrying so much guilt adds to the complexity of his character. I really hope he gets the HEA ending as well, whatever that may be (but really hoping it is with Raewynn). While Stellon might have felt something for Raewynn in Book 1, Pharis has seen her at her lowest on their travels and has been a constant source of comfort through it all, despite his outward demeanor towards her in the beginning.

A Kingdom Ruthless and Radiant must be read after the first book in the series as this one picks up where the previous book left off with King Pontus having Raewyn and Stellon placed exactly where he wants them until he gets what he wants. Pharis made a promise to his brother, and he's determined to keep it but there's definitely more behind his motivation to help. This book gives us a journey where lines get blurry, you have to fight to survive, truths and betrayals seem to go hand in hand, hearts are on the line and loving will heal and hurt. This story has back and forth banter and it's laugh out loud moments but there are times when the flow of the story seems slow. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed this story but after reading the first book, I expected this story to have a little more action and to seem a little more mature. It seems a bit juvenile but even with that being said, I enjoyed the characters, and I want to read the next book in this series because I'm looking forward to what will happen between Raewyn, Pharis and Stellon.

Although this picks up from the last book there is a bit of a summary of the first book. Raewyn must flee her village with help from an unusual source, but her family must go along. It’s a long journey but she learns a lot about her new friend and creates a connection. A love triangle was only imminent, Stellon saw her first but Pharis is the brooding bad boy that always attracts the ladies. This royal fae family is a bit like what you’d think, an egomaniac for King, two princes without romantic prospects and an animal loving sister. Raewyn lives to care for her blind father and two little sisters, so much that she has forgotten to want for herself. Her heart is being twisted with emotions while her world is changing. Their story is exciting and magical, also dangerous and treacherous if they aren’t careful. It’s easy to enjoy this series as it has adventure, magic, family, romance, and a bit of suspense. Looking forward to the next book. I’ve written this review voluntarily after reading an early copy.

Pharis is everything. This is not a spoiler and just my personal opinion. I am team Pharis all day long. Stellon did one thing right. Trusting Pharis to help Raewyn escape. This whole book was just amazing. I felt like I was tagging along the adventure every step of the way! Amy, you are so amazing and I am so thankful to have stumbled upon your books. You have a talent of pure imagination and the ideas seem endless. I enjoyed this book so much! I tried to hold off reading to savor it nice and slow but ofcourse I was too excited and could not resist!!!! I devoured this book! I am so glad the 3rd is not far off and will hopefully be available the end of year!!!! Im astounded by your speed. This story is not even rushed and just flows together perfectly ! The ending was great. Stellons ending scene was wild. The ending with Pharis was a shocker. I didn't see that coming at all. Lol thanks for this ARC! It's highly appreciated!!! Can not wait to continue on!!🌺❤️‍🔥

This second book took the story up a notch! 4,5⭐️

After book 1, I was excited to start book 2 and thanks to the little recap added of book 1, I was right back into it!
I was really curious how things would evolve with Pharis, after reading his bonus chapter, I had a gut feeling he would be a layered character, and HE IS!
He could really go both in the right and wrong direction, and I think I would like him both ways. His brother Stellon is getting on my nerve a bit, love spell or not...😅 and I really hope their sister will get a bigger role in book 3. I have high hopes about her becoming a kick ass chick. As for Raewyn, she evolves as a character but really needs to pull up her big girl panties and make a decision.

I'm very curious where Amy will take this story and would like to thank her for having me on the ARC team!

Amy Patrick has done it once again! This 2nd book to this series is AMAZING! After the make cliffhanger in book 1 getting back into this world was much needed! Raewyn of course it's still dealing with trails and obstacles that she has to over come. She has to say good bye to Stellon which was heartbreaking but boy the new live intrest with Pharis who despised humans in book 1 or more so was stand offish about them! Learning about who Raewyn mother actually was and what her true lineage is!!! She's a "half breed". Shes half human and half fae 😱😱 that was a major bomb drop in the book I didn't see coming!!! LIKE MAJOR JAW ON THE FLOOR MOMENT.
Your going to need tissues for chapter 21 🥹😭
Once again Amy has left us on a major cliff hanger 😭😭 book 3 needs to make an appearance ASAP! THIS SERIES IS A MUST READ AND YOU WON'T REGRET IT!

“You're all I think about day and night - even my dreams are filled with you.”

My favourite part about reading a second book in a series is that they're always better than the first. And this book was exactly that! A Kingdom Ruthless and Radiant follows Raewyn as she escapes the Elven kingdom with Stellon’s brother, Pharis. This begins their adventure to safety from the King by sharing a horse, continuous banter, slow burn and yearning, touch her and die, and a forbidden love not just between a fae and human, but also for his brothers girl. Plus having the duel POVs provides an insight into the thinking into Pharis actions throughout the story

I devoured this book within 24 hours. This story, this book, captivated me from the start to the end. Every twist, every secret and every revelation had me wanting more and not wanting it to end!

This is the second book in the Age of Fae series.

I enjoyed this as much as I did with the first book. The writing style is still AMAZING! World-building has expanded which I love.

Raewyn continues her journey but NOT with the first prince (Stellon) she fell in love with. She’s on the run with her family and the dark prince (Pharis) after being imprisoned by the king.

I read this in less than 24 hours! It’s full of tension and plot twists. It’s very entertaining how Raewyn and Pharis tried so hard to ignore their attraction towards each other. I was always rooting for Pharis since Book One so I absolutely loved how everything unfolds between them.

It ended with a cliffhanger so I’ll be here impatiently waiting for Book Three.

If you love fairy tale retellings then definitely check out this series.

Thank you Amy Patrick for this ARC!

This Age of Fae book 2 dives straight into the action, right where the last book left off. I loved how early clarity around Raewyn’s part in the assassination attempt allowed Pharis to fully explore the “what ifs” between them. Their chemistry shines with the flirting, the cave scene, massages, and that wildcat nickname.

Also, yes to: one horse, one bed, a date, no obligations but all the tension and yearning.

The ending was an emotional rollercoaster, equal parts frustrating and compelling, and now I’m left wondering what’s next. Stellon or Pharis? Pharis is fully pushing the shadow daddy persona and I’m all in to find out where the love triangle goes from here.

Thank you to the author for the gifted eARC!
