Raider Warlords of the Vandar #7

Pródigo: Un Romance de Guerreros Alienígenas de Ciencia Ficción (Señores de la Guerra Invasores de los Vandar nº 7)

Rate this book
Oscuros. Mortíferos. Vengativos.

I love sexy aliens and independent heroines. I grew up on Star Trek: Next Generation and Star Wars (and I adore them equally). My favorite superhero is Thor (with Aquaman a close second because, well, Jason Momoa), my favorite dessert is key lime pie (okay, fine, all pie), and I still lament the loss of Firefly.

I live in North Carolina in the US and have one husband, two teenagers, and two neurotic cats. I sometimes wish I could teleport to a holographic space station like the one in my tribute brides series (or maybe vacation at the oasis with the sand planet barbarians). :-) When I'm not writing, I love to paddleboard, dive, travel, and read obsessively!

The Zagrath have been vanquished, or so everyone believes after the events of the last book. Everyone, that is, except for Sloane, a tenacious pilot from the Resistance who fought alongside the Vandar and the Bounty Hunters. She suspects that the Zagrath are still out there, quietly rebuilding their fleet and plotting their return, stronger than ever. While the rest of the galaxy revels in their supposed victory, Sloane sets off on a solo reconnaissance mission. However, her small ship is soon intercepted by what she thinks is a Vandar warbird. The crew aboard claims to be the long-lost descendants of the Vandar—half-breeds of Vandar and Selkee; the Kyrie Vandar—on a quest to return to the home planet from which their fathers were banished. In this intricate web of alliances and hidden agendas, the Raas, Ronnan, sees an opportunity; Sloane might just be the leverage he needs to secure an audience.

“We are not the Vandar you know. We are the Kyrie Vandar—the Lost Vandar—that were exiled before either of us were born.”

I was pretty disappointed by this book. I didn’t expect much, since the series tends to be repetitive—especially with how the characters meet, the girl being held captive by the Raas, and how it takes forever for them to realize they’re true mates. What surprised me was that the last book, Provoked, felt like a decent conclusion with the Zagrath finally defeated. I honestly thought the series would end there, so it was weird to see it keep going without any new twists or with a different direction. As a result, this book just feels like it's dragging its feet. And the new introduction of half-breed Vandar also brings a plot hole.

““Our fathers rebelled against the Vandar warlords and lost, which earned them exile from Vandar space and the hordes. They were cast out with only a single, aged warbird, and the axes on their backs. They settled on a distant planet, took non-Vandar mates, and built warbirds. They didn’t live to see the hordes take to the skies and set a course for Vandar space, but it was their wish that we would return and claim what was taken from them.””-

In this series, it’s mentioned repeatedly that Vandar can only have children with their true mates (as in, not biologically possible if they don't share the mating tattoos); otherwise, there would be half-breeds everywhere since they frequently stop at pleasure planets. However, in this book, it’s claimed that the banished Vandar fathers impregnated Selkee without being mated with them. This creates a lot of confusion and feels inconsistent with what was established earlier. But let's say the exiled Vandars did take Selkee mates, why is it that their sons would be surprised in learning that Vandar and Humans can be true mates?

As for the characters, I really didn’t connect with them at all. They felt like cookie-cutter versions of previous heroes and heroines, and their meeting followed the exact same formula. Sloane is the typical confident and strong heroine, while the Raas, Ronnan, embodies the usual commanding and arrogant type, but nothing really demarked them from the other main characters. There wasn’t much chemistry between them either, and the lack of originality really pulled me out of their supposed love story.

Overall, I just didn’t care for this book. It doesn’t offer anything new—just a bunch of plot holes. I might or might not read the rest of the series. Like I said, I strongly believe that it should've ended with the previous book. I'm not sure if the next books will be able to bring anything fresh to the main plot, but we'll see I guess.

🎧 Audiobook Review: Prodigal (Raider Warlords of the Vandar, #7)

Author: Tana Stone
Genre: Science Fiction Romance / Alien Romance
Narrators: Marcio Catalano and Aubrey Vincent

📚 Characters & Background

Raas Ronan, warlord of the Kyrie Vandar, commands a star‑spanning horde descended from exiles who were cast out generations ago after their fathers rebelled against the Vandar leadership. Now that the Zagrath have been defeated, Ronan is determined to reclaim the legacy stolen from his bloodline. His mission is equal parts destiny, vengeance, and the fierce pride of a people who have survived on the fringes for far too long.

Sloane, a human fighter pilot hardened by years of war, refuses to believe the Zagrath are truly gone. After losing her boyfriend in the conflict, she’s driven by grief, suspicion, and a relentless need for answers. Her solo search ends abruptly when her battered ship gives out—leaving her vulnerable just as Ronan and his warriors cross her path.

When Sloane reveals her resistance is allied with the Vandar, Ronan sees an opportunity to use her against his enemies. But the more time they spend together, the more strategy gives way to something far more personal.

🌟 Strengths

• Two compelling leads. Ronan and Sloane are both strong, layered characters whose motivations feel grounded and believable. Their dynamic has tension, heat, and just the right amount of stubbornness on both sides.
• Cultural depth. The Kyrie Vandar’s mixed heritage adds nuance to their worldview. Their desire to reclaim Vandar mates for the sake of their future children creates an intriguing internal conflict—especially when Ronan finds himself drawn to Sloane despite his insistence that their connection will be temporary. Watching the “casual sex only” warlord start to fall is deliciously satisfying.
• Engaging action. The story shines during its high‑stakes moments, particularly when the Kyrie Vandar finally encounter another Vandar horde. The tension, uncertainty, and cultural friction make that sequence a standout.

💔 Limitations

• Enemy POV chapters. While the Zagrath perspective offers strategic insight, it disrupts the narrative flow and could have been conveyed more organically through the main characters’ experiences.
• Cliffhanger ending. The abrupt finish may frustrate readers who prefer more closure, especially after such a strong buildup.

🎙️ Narration

The duet narration by Marcio Catalano and Aubrey Vincent enhances the story’s emotional texture. Catalano’s smooth, natural delivery brings Ronan’s authority and quiet intensity to life, while Vincent’s expressive, emotive performance captures Sloane’s strength, vulnerability, and determination. Their voices complement each other beautifully, making the shifting perspectives easy to follow and deeply engaging.

💬 Final Assessment

This audiobook blends action, romance, and interstellar politics into a fast‑paced, emotionally charged experience. Ronan and Sloane’s chemistry is compelling from the start, and the world‑building around the Kyrie Vandar adds richness without slowing the pace. While the enemy POV chapters and cliffhanger may not land for every listener, the strong character work and excellent narration more than make up for it. Fans of sci‑fi romance with fierce heroines, morally complex heroes, and high‑stakes tension will find this installment both satisfying and addictive—and it sets the stage for an even more explosive continuation.

"Raider Warlords of the Vandar" is a steamy sci-fi romance series, much like Tana's other series. The series follows the Vandar, a group of hot and sexy alpha aliens who travel across galaxies as raiders. However, they are not what everyone in the empire believes them to be. They actually fight for freedom against the empire, which takes what it wants. Along their journey, they encounter more than they could have hoped for. The series is full of action, war, and sexy themes as they traverse the skies. Tana's worlds and characters are well-written and believable. If you love sci-fi with sexy aliens and hot romance, you will enjoy Tana's work.

Along the way Ronnan encounters Sloane a human fe.ale and a fighter pilot for the Velox resistance. She has sworn vengeance on the Empire and is not convinced that they have truly been defeated. Okay, so I love alien romance, though it's always a challenge to find a good one. And considering that my tastes in romance are on the darker side with a side of RH, alien romance usually is about fated mates (p.s. if you know RH alien romance please send me recs).

I liked the book, even though this was number 7 and I had no clue about previous books, it was still enjoyable and I was able to get an understanding of the world, though some more information, in the beginning, would have been great.

It was a great mix of spice and plot, though once again, I just don't get it, why not use the tail to its full potential? Or what, aliens don't like doing it in the bum? Like, why not use the tail to put it in the bum while he's railing her? (Am I asking too much here?).

Overall, it was a nice story, I would have liked a bit more description of action scenes, but it was a quick read, even if I wanted to kill Ronaan because he was a jerk in the beginning and throughout the first half of the book.

I received an ARC for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I waited, and it was worth it. I love the Vandar warriors, and was so happy when Tana decided to revisit the warrior series with new characters. I just can’t decide whether I like them better with black hair or the new platinum blonde look. Either way, they are just hot, and the things they do with their tails 🥵 Another great story Tana, and can’t wait for more, now that the old enemy the Grivath are back. I’ve worked out who has the tracker, but who are you pairing off next is anyone’s guess, hoping for more interaction from the previous vanders in the new storyline

Raider Warlords of the Vandar is an alien romance series written by Tana Stone. The perspective switched back and forth between the two main characters; male and female, along with a periodic random party's perspective. The plot surrounded a galactic war with two sides: the Zagrath Imperial Empire and those who opposed it. The Empire was made mostly of an advanced human race; not quite human anymore, through genetic modifications and advancements. The Vandar Raiders were warriors that fought the Empire and all who associate with them, while aiding those who rebelled against them. These weren't noble warriors. The Vandars were ruthless raiders; taking, plundering and destroying everything in their paths. The Vandar species were muscular humanods, with tannish-bronze skin, dark hair, tattoos and tails. They dressed half-naked in leather kilts with midevil battle axes as weapons.

Written in first person, Prodigal is the 7th book in this series, and follows Vandar Raas Ronnan and the human female Sloane.

Sloane was a pilot for the Valox resistance fleet. While everyone assumed that the Empire was destroyed after the war (in book 6), Sloane's gut instinct told her that the enemy was far from conquered. Turned out, she was correct. Unwilling to give up on her mission for revenge after they killed her lover (Leo, who was also a pilot for the resistance), Sloane took an old fighter vessel on a reconnaissance mission, which wound up breaking down in the middle of space. That was when Ronnan's hoard stumbled across her ship and took her captive.

Ronnan was the Raas for the Kyrie Vandar—the Lost Vandar. Their fathers had revolted against the Vandar leaders and been defeated, then cast out to live the rest of their lives in unknown space, take alien mates, and survive without the protection of the hordes. His father's horde was exiled, and after taking refuge on Selk, also took Selkee mates. The Selkee were known for their intellect. They did not have military might, but they were prized as great strategists and thinkers. Ronnan was a halfbreed, with a Vandar father and Selkee mother, as were his entire hoard. As a result, they had light blonde hair (white), which set them apart from their Vandar brothers. Everything else about them was distinctively Vandar. The Selkee descended from magical beings and could not be marked by another with mating marks. His father believed that Ronnan needed a Vandar mate and that only with a Vandar female could he be sure to restore their blood line. He left his home planet of Selk to fulfill his father's mission of reclaiming their rightful place among the Vandar.

The couple officially had sex in chapter 21, at the 44% mark. The mating marks didn't appear until near the end of the book, after Ronnan sent Sloane away. The lack of communication and acceptance drove me crazy. Ronnan was hell-bent on following his dead father's wishes to the point that he turned his back on Sloane and pushed her away, denying his own feelings. There's always one party that seems to have a hangup and refuses to give in to their feelings. I read this genre of books specifically for the raunch. Delaying sexual intercorse anytime after the 48% mark is like dangling the cheese so long it molds. What initially made me love this particular series was that this wasn’t some alien species that protected all women and honorably waited for consent. No. They took what they wanted. Which made for some very spicy sex scenes in the first book. I wouldn’t exactly call them “romantic,” more like brutish and carnal, which is right up my alley. I liked the idea of less nobility and morals, and more savage dominance. Unfortunately, there had been less and less of that as the books went on, which left me disappointed. This series turned into the same book over and over again, just with different characters. I was so bored with the 6th book that I sped-read the last quarter just to be done with it. I thought that the series was over, but alas, it continues.

Another great book in this series this time we have some new vandar platinum blonde warriors to be exact new look same attitude. the kyrie vandar have been lost and have come to reclaim their pace in the vandar horde ready to exact vengence on behalf of their fathers who were cast out. Ronaan has a mission he is compelled to complete. Sloane is a bad ass pilot for the resistance who doesn't believe the Zagrath have truly been defeated and continues to search space for their ships and soldiers. Her ship breaks down and floating dead in space Ronaan's horde comes across her and he decides to take her prisoner as leverage. Now Sloane isn't going to take that crap and fights against his orders and shows herself to be a fierce unpredictable human female who though small in size is mighty in attitude and determination. Ronaan has never met a human female and is shocked at how much like a warrior she is. They both are drawn to each other despite the situation and decide some fun on the side can't hurt. Sloane's friends find Ronaan and contact the vandar horde to come to a meeting. Upon meeting the Kyrie vandar are shocked to be welcomed back into the vandar family with open arms since they didn't know the elders had banished the fathers so many years ago. So one mission is complete but he feels he must take a vandar bride despite his growing feelings for his little human captive. So he pushes her away then the zagrath attack and all hell breaks loose. Now we have danger excitement suspense drama emotional ups and downs disappointment hurt anguish and much more.
Many things happen to keep your interest. This is a fast paced easy read that will have you rooting for love to win out over duty and obligation and completing a mission that is not your own, friendship, loyalty and love.
great characters esp if you have read the other books with the exciting new addition of the lost vandar who are so different looking from their black haired counterparts yet so much the same.
I love sloane's love or ancient earth music, her kick ass attitude, her fiesty nature, her never give up attitude and her quirky sense of humour. Ronaan is an ass but it's easy to understand how he became the way he is when u think of how he was raised by his father who let bitterness overwhelm his life. he is redeemed in the end though as he learns to listen to his heart and overcome the conditioning thru childhood. I love the vandar's dominating attitude strength and skill with an axe as well as their ability to learn, to soften their hearts and adjust attitudes and beliefs when confronted by new information and truths. while they are truly hardened warriors capable of much violence with their mates they are soft as marshmallows and willing to bend in any way to make her happy.
this is an awesome series that truly needs to be read in completion to get the full effect of the story line but each story definitely can stand on it's own. love the world building depth of characters and believable plot.
I received an arc copy and this is my honest voluntary review.

🔥 “I know I have you, and I have no intention of letting you go.”
~~~
Sloane is absolutely amazing! As a pilot from the resistance, she’s brave, smart, strong and has the heart of a warrior. Even more, I loved her defiance, stubbornness and determination. And her love for old school music and movies made her even more endearing. She’s an awesome woman and I loved her so, so much!
And Raas Ronnan of the Kyrie Vandar is one fearsome and dangerous male. The menacing warlord is vicious, lethal, possessive, bossy, arrogant and quite impatient. But Ronnan is also incredibly loyal to his people, fiercely protective and determined to fulfill his duty to bring the Lost Vandar to their rightful place. I couldn’t help but adore every single thing about the platinum-haired Raas!
I absolutely adored everything that happened between Sloan and Raas Ronnan! Sloane’s ship breaks down on a mission and the last thing she expects is to be rescued by an unknown Vandar horde led by the fearsome Raas Ronnan. From the moment they met, their attraction was undeniable and they couldn’t keep their hands off each other. Ronnan might be determined to convince himself and everyone around him that Sloan is nothing more than a prisoner and means to an end, and Sloan might be determined to get back to the resistance and her job, but their connection turns out to be deeper than either of them could expect. I adored those two together! I loved when they fought, when they teased each other and when they tried to best each other. Ronnan and Sloan might be so opposite but they were absolutely perfect for each other. And the passionate moments they shared were so intense and off-the-charts hot. Oh, those Vandar warriors with their skillful mouths, domineering natures and naughty tails… I couldn’t get enough!
In addition, the storyline was spectacular! The Vandar might have defeated the Zagrath but could such evil be gone for good? Even more, with the Kyrie Vandar - raiders whose ancestors were exiled from the galaxy - coming back to seek revenge and claim their place among the Vandar hordes, I was glued to the pages till the very end. And I cannot wait to know more about the platinum-haired warriors, especially Aydan and Kratos.
Overall, the story is another remarkable addition to the series! It’s filled with action, danger, suspense, twists, violence, drama, blazing hot passion and magnificent characters!
Prodigal was impossible to put down and I absolutely loved every page of it!
3.5 // I love this series featuring domineering alien MMCs and the independently minded human women who captivate them.
You can always tell the authors who have a love for sci-fi and probably watched Star Trek, Star Wars, and Firefly because it comes out in their world building. And it is so fun to be back in this world. The world building is a favorite among alien romance series. I could hear the leather kilts slapping against their legs as they walk and the pounding of boots on the steel walkways as they move through the ship.
The FMC has a hunch that the antagonist did not fall apart as so many believe but instead hid the remnants of their empire to regroup. Out hunting for evidence of her hunch, she is taken by a Vandar horde when her ship is incapacitated becoming an inadvertent pawn in a game of cat and mouse between this exiled Vandar horde and their brethren. My favorite moment is Sloane, being the pilot she is, choosing to leave and fight the antagonist rather than stay in the protection of the Vandar ship. I love an FMC who does not let a man’s rejection define her but instead boldly chooses to do what she does best.
My criticisms are some aspects of the story felt a little too convenient and the internal dialogue got a bit repetitive.
I loved that in the epilogue we get to experience a Vandar mate ceremony. That was something new that we’ve never had before and it was a fun addition to the world building.
A simply splendid read, thoroughly enjoyable and once started impossible to put down till the end
This was a simply wonderful read and I have to say that once you begin reading you will not be able to put this book down until you reach the end. Raas Roonan is leading the Vandar Horde that are all the strong decedents of warriors and is fit to face anything that comes along.
However, when his Horde come across a ship that appears to have been stranded, they find that there is in fact a single pilot on board and that is Sloane and she is not in the mood to be rescued by a bunch of Vandar Horde warriors.
It is apparent that there is an attraction between Sloane the rescued pilot and Raas Roonan but he is determined to ensure that she know she is nothing more than a prisoner, but who can know what the future holds and the bearings these can have on future events.
The interaction between the captain and the pilot is quite something and I guarantee that this story will hold your attention from start to finish.
assure you that you will love every moment of this book it is simply a fantastic read.
I voluntarily received and review an Advanced Reader Copy
I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the great writing.
This was a sci-fi alien warrior romance.
Loved this new kind of Vandar book. The story was fast paced and steamy. The world building was spot on as usual. The characters were hot and strong. Highly recommend!
Sloane was a human fighter pilot in the Valex Resistance. She was out on a recon mission looking for Zagreth ships when her ship stops working and the repairs were beyond her knowledge level.
Ronnan was the Raas of the Kyrie Vandar aka the Lost Vandar. The Kyrie were cast out of their home planet a generation ago and their sons are on a mission of revenge and restitution from the other Vandar.
They met when Ronnan accompanied the boarding party onto her ship. He took her prisoner and kept her locked in his quarters where he planned to seduce her. Her abandoned ship was found by the Valex Resistance and her friends Thea and Cassie were assigned to find her. Ronnan tells them he will release Sloane when they bring a Vandar horde to him. The women come back with a horde and the other Raas welcomes them. The two hordes get shot upon by the Zagreth and have to fight together against them. During the fight Sloane, Cassie and Thea are captured and brought aboard the Zagreth ship. Ronnan helps rescue them and he and Sloane get their HEA.
OMG…the Vandar are back, the Vandar are back…and a platinum haired “lost” version at that. Ronan and his “lost” Vandars come across Sloane when she is trying to fix her ship…and they take her as leverage against the Vandar to get revenge for their father’s being cast out. She is a part of the resistance against the Zagrath Empire, and was out looking for the Zagrath, because she is not convinced they’re all destroyed. Ronan knows he wants her right away, and hopes to break her about where the Vandar are…with his charm…pfft…yup, that was hilarious. He wasn’t convincing anyone with that spiel. I think we can all agree that charm is not a Vandar’s, especially a Raas, strongest attribute, but it was amusing all the same.
Safe read, with a couple that had quite a few hot dayum moments. He does try and keep his distance to try and honor his promise to take a Vandar mate, blah, blah, but clearly he found his true mate in a little feisty human pilot. Great storyline, with some twist, action and suspense. We get to see some of our favorites from the first books, and we gained some new favorites as well. Epilogue that will leave you wanting more and an hea.
Fate trumps purpose with lots of steam
I really enjoyed Ronnan and Sloane’s alien romance with a side of trying to find your purpose. Sloane is a human and a pilot for the Valox resistance. Despite being defeated, she still believes the Empire is hiding in order to rebuild. While out searching for evidence, her ship breaks down in space. Ronnan is a Raas of the Kyrie Vandar. They are the offspring of Vandar warriors who were exiled. When his horde happens upon Sloane, he captures her for leverage to bring the Vandar to him. Ronnan believes his destiny is to avenge his father and take a Vandar mate Of course fate does not always listen to the plans we have and Ronnan and Sloane have a difficult time sticking to theirs once they meet. The story was well written and included witty dialogue, three dimensional characters, and an engaging storyline as shown through sweet moments, steamy scenes, fighting, dangerous situations, alien physiology and cultures, painful pasts, drama, snark, plot twists, secrets, and laughs. I love this series. 4.5 stars.
Prodigal - Book 7 - Vandar Raiders
📚- ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
🥵-🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
🗣️-🎧🎧🎧🎧🎧
The Kyrie Vandar (the missing Vandar) have returned and want what they are owed from their ancestors who were cast out years prior. Raas Ronaan and his Majack - Ayden are looking for a way to rendezvous with The Vandar hoard that . The Vandar Raiders that just defeated the zagrath along with the resistance. This is where Vallox resistance Captain Sloane is found on her broken down ship floating in the sector that belongs to Raas Ronaan. He then takes her as prisoner or pawn to persuade the Vandar Raiders to meet with them. While being held prisoner Ronaan finds himself connecting with the human he is so set on never being with. But fate and love have other ideas for these two. (Apologies for typos or if it doesn’t make sense. I finished listening to the book at work and had to do the review on my phone)
This one was just okay. The whole first half was the same as the other kidnap books, pretty much scene for scene. I was irritated with the threat of ra*e she had to deal with at the beginning. We all know he won't do it, but it bugged me anyway. Yeah, even the sex scenes were practically identical to most in the other books. Maybe it's because I'm reading these back-to-back that I see all the similarities.
Oh, and I'm taking off half a star because the references to old movies and music drives me crazy. I didn't mind the old sayings in book 5, Punished, because that story was really interesting and had strong characters. In this one, it kept taking me out of the story. Are we really to believe that in this distant future, only music and movies from the late 20th century survived? It simply didn't work in this book.
I'll keep reading because some of these books are really good, unfortunately, this one wasn't one of them.
What a great story. It’s fast paced, sexy, attention grabbing not to mention exciting. Raas Roonan is out for revenge leading the Vandar Horde that are the descendants of the Vandar Warriors that were cast out year’s previously. His horde comes across a lone ship with a single pilot whom they take prisoner - just so happens that pilot is Sloane and she’s no fool. There is an immediate attraction between the two of them, however, the Raas is determined that she’s nothing but a prisoner, however, further events might just make him reconsider that. I loved how these two fought, how they tried to best each other and how they eventually found each other. I really enjoyed the arrival of the other Vandar Horde and how that played out. A fabulous story, loved it.
I was fortunate enough to receive an ARC.
The plot thickens
The lost Vandar are no longer separated from the other hordes. But are they reuniting to a peaceful rebirth of their people or will war be inevitable?
Sloane is a Valox pilot unable to accept that the Zagrath are all gone. The numbers aren't adding up for her, but none of the others in the resistance understand why she can't accept that they've defeated the Empire. On a solo search mission, her ship is broken down and found by the returning horde of the lost Vandar. She is taken by their Raas in hopes of finding a means to contact the rest of their fellow Vandar.
A very enjoyable continuation in the Vandar saga. A new horde, offspring of the Vandar that were forced into isolation and took Selkee mates, leaving them distinctively different in appearance... but not one whit different in heart or spirit. Sloane and Ronnan's story.
Prodigal is the seventh book in the fantastic Raider Warlords of the Vandar series by Tana Stone.
Raider Warlords of Vandar Series by Tana Stone is another fantastic sci-fi romance series – with an ‘abduction and seduction’ theme that runs through the collection.
With Alien Warlords, resistance fighters, space battles, action, adventure, captives, war, alpha males, tension, intrigue, emotion, drama, and danger- while the vivid world-building made this series all the more enjoyable.
Each book could be read as a standalone, but there is a ‘bigger picture’ being painted in the background, therefore, I really recommend reading the entire series (in sequence) so you don’t miss any of the important interconnected details, which will elevate you whole reading experience.
Looking forward to more from Ms. Stone…
Happy Reading…
Thank you, Tana Stone!
This was such a wonderful story that I read it in one sitting, I just couldn’t put it down. The story is amazing and it centers on Ronnan and Sloane. Sloane is a pilot for the resistance and Ronnan is one of the exiled Vander warlords. They meet when his horde rescues her stranded spacecraft and their chemistry is off the charts. It’s a wonderful alien sci fi romance novel with dominant alien warriors alien abduction sizzling romance hot alpha alien males fated mates romance and love. It’s a story that kept my interest heart pounding from beginning to end. I couldn’t get enough and highly recommend this book. It well worth every moment.
I received a free copy for my honest review and this is my honest voluntary review.
I’m just gonna say that this series has really drawn me in, and I have loved every single one of the stories of the Vandar warriors. Prodigal tells of the descendants of the rebels who were exiled from the hoard. Now Raas Ronnan is on a mission to take his hoard to find their rightful place among the Vandar. Then enters Sloane who is a member of the rebellion, they are attracted to each other and they have some wonderful relationship moments that will make you hot. Your story is very engaging and you just don’t want to put it down until the very last page but you still want more. This is typical of all the stories in this series and they just leave you gasping for more.
I was given a copy of this book to read and I am reviewing with my honest and fair opinion.
Action, Aliens & Angst
This is just the right amount of fighting, flying, and… uhhh… steam. As in tons of the all three. It reads more like an R-rated episode of Star Trek, and I mean that in the best way possible. I didn’t realize when I downloaded it that it’s several in to a series. It didn’t detract from the plot at all, though I’m sure it would be richer if I read them in order. Totally can be read as a stand-alone. I’m now obsessed with this story, and have to go back and read the books leading up to it. I’d you like alien romance but hate the cinnamon roll types or the ones that are all focused on the relationship without a background story, this is the book for you.
For me it is between 3 and a 4. All the stories in the series seem to be the same. Same situations, same reactions, same talk ( well if you can call it that ) same sex stuff... always the same. It is getting kida boring now. And those tough warriors turning into a kitty cat is getting on my nerves.
What I also noted is that here on Goodreads they are lacking the new books, they show book 8, Book 9 Protector is out and they do not even show it here on Goodreads if you check out the Series. I noticed this with a lot of books I read. So Goodreads is not what it once was. Sucks big time. Became almost useless to be here.
A different kind of Vandar
The only difference was their hair color and that they were half Selkie. There seems to be a lot of similarities between the Vandar and the ancient Scots with their kilts and their axes.
I really liked Sloane in this story. She liked old Earth music and sang out of tune which endeared her to me.
I wasn't too big of a fan of Ronnan. Going on a mission of vengeance for your jerkwad father who called you a half breed just seems pointless but to also want a Vandar mate to keep the blood pure is to buy into the prejudice of your bigot father. Rant over.
I've already downloaded the next book.
Raider🐺💪🔪 of Her💃💋 Lonely Heart 💘
ADULT Alien👽 Sci-fi Romance💕 and Space Adventure🚀.
The book is mostly about the Alien Vandar Warlord🐺💪🔪🍆⛲ and a captured human woman💃💋 Pilot's🚀 romance💕 and is light on adventure.
There are plenty of ADULT scenes throughout.
The book is also told in first person with dual points of view. Not my favorite.
It's pretty typical for The genre, but slightly better than most. Light reading, this book is great escapism from reality.
I got this ebook from Amazon 📚with KU.
Prodigal introduces a fresh conflict with the return of the Lost Vandar, adding a welcome twist to the overarching series lore. The heroine’s strength as a fighter pilot plays well against Raas Ronnan’s ruthless dominance. The power struggle between them is as psychological as it is physical, and the emotional core—betrayal, displacement, and longing—is compelling. While it leans heavier on the setup for larger conflict, the romance hits hard and the ending satisfies. A great reinvigoration of the series narrative, with room for more payoff down the line.
When the two main characters meet, things start to sizzle, but neither wants to accept the reality. One is bent on revenge while the other refuses to be controlled. They have a lot to overcome, …. the past, the promise and the present. And danger will be with them every step of the way. A book you won’t find easy to put down, until you get to the very last page and ask: “When will your next book be ready?”
Wow, this was so good I couldn’t put it down…
The Raider Warlords of the Vandar series is an exciting, romantic collection of standalone stories; each with a HEA. This story features Warlord Raas Ronnan, who is leading the Lost Vandar back to their home planet for vengeance. When they find Sloane’s ship floating in space, Ronnan sees an opportunity to achieve his goals… I received a free copy of this book. This review was posted voluntarily.
Tana Stone is One if my favorite authors and She did it again with this book. Roonan and Sloane meet on an inconvencional way since Roonan rescues her failing ship from space, but things don't go very well because he wants revenge for his people and wants to go to war with the other vandars. Things grata up and they both have to give some but they start something amazing. Roonan has to Change a bit and hearing others migth do the trick. Amazing!
