Explore the world of Lone Star quilts! Jan shows you how to use today's techniques to simplify this intricate design and make 9 colorful, creative projects.
I first met Jan Krentz several years ago at the Sisters, Oregon Quilt Festival. If you haven't been? You GOTTA go!!! She taught a class from this book on Lone Star Quilts from this book. (My copy is signed - Yea!) She was a wonderful instructor. And the best thing? The teachings in her class follow the book in the same sort of well-laid-out, thoughtful, clear language that makes this sometimes hard-as-heck quilt to make almost easy-peasy-eggs-and-cheesy!
The layouts are creative, the instructions clear, and the finished quilts stunning. Of course, I did a silly and changed sewing machines mid-stream (duh...) and had to take my corners off . . . (not to quilters - do NOT change your machine without measuring to see if the 1/4" foot from one to the other is the SAME quarter inch! Some are off a thread or two, and it really adds up.)
If you want to make your first, or fiftieth, lone star, I can't recommend this book highly enough!
I got this from the library for my mother-in-law who had mentioned doing a lone star quilt. This had some excellent examples and though we didn't make one, the instructions seemed thorough.
