A prophecy reborn. A magic forgotten. A girl who could ignite the end.

Velmora Academy was meant to be a fresh start.

But Mae Collins quickly learns the truth—she wasn’t just invited… she was summoned.

Born of a forgotten bloodline and haunted by dreams stitched in shadows, Mae finds herself caught in the threads of an ancient prophecy. As secrets unravel and darkness stirs, she must train to wield a magic no one understands—and survive a school where danger hides behind every enchanted door.

Enemies circle. Allies emerge. And a silver-eyed boy might be both.

Some destinies are written in blood. Others, in fire.

You come home one day to find a strange looking letter in your mail. You open it and have been invited to attend a magical school even though you don't have any magic in you. Would you go?

Mae is stuck in life. Working a dead end job, in a town that doesn't feel like home, filled with people she doesn't care to know. Until she receives an invitation to Velmora Academy for the Gifted. A prestigious school for the brightest Eldren....except she's never been able to make any sort of magic.
Once she arrives at Velmora, it isn't as smooth sailing as she had hoped. Not even close. Something dark and sinister is on the hunt for her. Is it another one of the students at the academy? A professor? Something out seeking revenge?

Hall does an amazing job of making you feel like you are in Velmora with Mae. Not is she being protected by Nyal the the group, but it feels like you are there protecting her as well.
The characters in this story though! Absolutely loved every single one of them! Not one single character felt out of place. Although not all had major roles in Mae's journey, every one of them served a purpose.
And that ending!😭 Ma'am we're going to need book two like yesterday lol.

This was such a great Romantasy read!
Moonlight Drift gave me the essence vibes of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, in a wonderful way. This is a found family, slow burn, enemies to lovers, coming of age story about our FMC Mae Collins.
We follow Mae as she is thrown into an Elderin world of forgotten magic and a prophecy that is about to be reborn. Which is funny, since less than 24 hours before our story begins, Mae is just an average aging adult trying to make their way in the world.
As we follow Mae to Velmora Academy we will find enemies at every turn but also allies in every corner. This is where my Harry Potter feels come in. The friends that are introduced in this story is one of my favorite parts. The complex and diverse personalities within the group, this chaos of magic all around, all come together for this calm, emotional pull that had me in a chokehold. There is nothing I love more than good character development and 'opposites attract' vibes to see this plot to it's fullest protentional. OHHH, and the slow burn relationship too.. you will HAVE to figure that one out for yourself :) If you are looking for a new, refreshing Romantasy you need to make sure to read Moonlight Drift.

I.loved.this.book! Moonlight Drift follows Mae, orphaned since 4, a young woman living alone on an Isle. She is sent an invitation to attend a school in the magical Eldrin World, where students learn to hone their elemental powers. When Mae arrives many things start to change. She makes true friends, something she has never had before, as well as enemies. As we progress through the story, we learn more about the Eldrin world and a prophecy that involves Mae. There are twists and turns. I definitely wish the book was longer, as we leave off on a bit of a cliffhanger. This book is a fantasy, enemies to lovers, that I adored. No spice, but definitely worth the read. I cannot wait for the next book!
