Welcome to Conch Key, where the sun is hot, the gossip is hotter, and the local beach just coughed up a corpse in Gucci loafers.

With her dramatic besties glamorous Babs, no-nonsense Rita, and the ever-sweet (but sneakily sharp) Mae Daisy’s about to do what she does meddle. Morty, the town’s grumpy police chief, says stay out of it. But when your house is the crime scene and your brunch is interrupted by body bags, what choice do you have?

Murder She Wrote meets Golden Girls murder mystery. The dialogue and narrative was pretty repetitive. While the mystery and the girls’ adventures were entertaining, the silly character names were a bit distracting. Captain Crustybutt and Officer Peanut Butterworth aside (I kid you not), the adventure was fast paced and an easy read. Hopefully we all age as gracefully as Daisy, Babs, Rita and Mae and remain as tactically prepared.
The story line was interesting, the characters somewhat charming at times. But the dialog was beyond me…it was too sophisticated me. It made it difficult to get through the book. Every time I thought the story had a clear ending it began all over again. So I couldn’t figure out a clear ending. When the book actually ended I thought it was beginning. Maybe that was a chapter from the next book? Not quite for me, the dialog was just not something I could get past.
I loved the names of the characters and at the time I needed a fun read. I felt like the book dragged on and on and kept using the same terms over and over again. Towards the end names were mixed up. I would try another one of her books.
