Vegas is a city built on spectacle, and Rhea plays the game better than most… until undefeated heavyweight temptation Micah McKnight locks eyes with her.
Touches her.
Just a touch.
And everything shifts.
She’s not sure if this... whatever it is... is fate, desire, or something she should’ve run from the moment that magnetic pull kicked in…
Micha is an up and coming heavy weight boxer with a unique ability. Rhea is the popular hostess at Reverie who is laser focused on landing a new position as The Curator of Client Experience at Recoverie and she just so happens to share the same ability as Micha. A simple touch and, an unexpected vision sets the boxer and his dream girl on a whirlwind romance. I liked Friction but, it didn’t leave me with a warm and fuzzy feeling. The ending didn’t really give HEA vibes. I’m curious to see where, exactly, this is going and how it’ll play out in the next book.
It’s so good to be back in Vegas!!!! It’s also so good that CCJ is back in her paranormal bag. Rhea and Micah had me from the very beginning and they held my focus until I hit “The End.” The pace was perfect for me, because when I had questions the answers were there. The physical chemistry was top notch but the emotional connection felt right, I’m excited to see what comes next and I hope we get more from these two.
Rhea and Micah had chemistry. I liked them together. I liked their shared "communication." I love the sports theme romance and I loved Rhea as a Dream Girl and business woman. I liked the idea of the story, but unfortunately it didn't feel fully executed. I realize Micah was an orphan, but what is this special ability? We needed more details. We got a little bit of background about Rhea and a brief mention of her grandmother, but overall it didn't feel like enough. I was just getting into it and the story just ended.
Hadn't read a CCJ book in a minute, so I was ready to dive into this one. Micah and Rhea's meeting was fated. The mystery, intrigue, and intense chemistry had me tuned in. Then learning of their unusual talents just upped the ante. Such a unique storyline, and I am ready for more.
I can’t even imagine being so deeply connected to someone that we could literally read each other’s minds but that’s exactly the kind of bond Rhea and Micah share. Their connection is intense and undeniable: both can read minds, with one seeing the past and present and the other the future. I’m happy to be reading another paranormal story from CCJ she never misses!
Friction" is a fitting title for this book because when Rhea and Micah touched, it felt like all the parts of their lives came together. Who wouldn’t want to see a dream girl and a heavyweight champion collide? CCJ's magical realism is always a treat, and I was ready for a rollercoaster ride, but I didn't expect the rush to be absent. I felt that Rhea and Micah had chemistry, but I was left wanting to see more of them actually getting to know each other and developing their relationship. This crucial development occurred off-page. I especially wanted to learn more about Micah; I definitely needed more of his perspective. While there is a lot of inner dialogue in this book—don’t get me wrong, I understand its purpose—it often overpowered everything else and felt excessive. There was a lot of telling and not enough doing, which didn’t work well for me in this book. I was waiting for Micah’s big explanation of what was going on between them, but their conversation felt anticlimactic. Additionally, the situation that occurred during the match was unresolved—does this mean we’re getting a Part 2? Overall, I really loved the magical realism of the story and the characters, but it felt incomplete. The ending left much to be desired and didn’t provide a satisfying feeling. Nonetheless, I look forward to seeing what comes next in this series and am eager to learn more about their gifts!
The idea for this story is mind-boggling. I need to be inside my man's head. The storytelling was beyond interesting, and it kept me turning pages. The revisit from the Predators and Mr. Whitfield was super cool. I am ready to see what Micah and Shea add to the series as extras.. You all know CCJ rarely does part two stories.... Yes, you need to read this version of mind controlling love stories... They aren't like us...
I was soooo caught up, like being in CCJ’s world will do to you, and it was over. Sunny girl he’s a good MAN. This was so sweet. Such a quick and easy read. The character’s supernatural gifts did not appear too out of reach (you know what I mean). They were likable and sexy. I have learned not to attempt to guide the author’s future projects, but I would sure like to see these two again. Such a good read.
With just a touch... It's nothing like a CCJ Romance but add a lil razzle dazzle and you have a touch of paranormal. This book was giving me everything. As always with CCJ... I just want more! 💜💚💛
Fated mates, mysterious lineage and a dash of something magical...that’s how I would describe this novella. Micah and Rhea are connected on a deeper level. Some encounters are just supposed to happen.
The thing about their union is, Micah can visualize the future before it comes to fruition. He’s settled into the comfort and security that experiences will happen a certain way. His anxiety comes in when managing when or if he should get involved, thus altering what happens.
Rhea is The It Girl. Her transition from hostess with the mostest to something different coincides with this new thing with Micah. It’s playful, fast-paced and yet serious. This is the foundation of something amazing to come.
I had the pleasure of reading the version of this novel that was released on Patreon. I was all into the lore that CCJ had established. This version has me hooked also, I like that Rhea’s career changes are taking a front seat. The connection that the two main characters develop comes in handy at a pivotal moment in the story. The fact that they both are magical in some way brings it altogether for me. This series is going to be bomb.
𝐅𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 was a fast-paced, unputdownable, spicy paranormal romance that I thoroughly enjoyed!
Lately, I have really been liking paranormal romances and when I found out that author Christina C Jones was due to release 𝐅𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, I could not wait to read it. In the end, 𝐅𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 exceeded my expectations!
The mystery, the magic, the tension, the magnetic attraction, the chemistry between Micah (MMC) and Rhea (FMC) was out of this world! I loved that both Micah and Rhea were strong characters on their own but when they came together, their dynamic was so different. Micah, a strong, undefeated heavyweight champion, was powerless against Rhea. And Rhea, an independent woman who could literally read people’s minds, could not fight the irresistible attraction to Micah. With each other, they were able to be vulnerable. They were able to let go of their inhibitions and just be. It was such a beautiful thing to see. I also want to add that I loved their banter. There were some funny moments, and the beginning gave enemies-to-lovers vibes, one of my favorite tropes.
Having read over 20 CCJ books, one thing that I have come to expect and absolutely love is the fact that the reader is always left wanting more. To me, it feels like eating a meal, getting enough food, but the food was just so good that you want more! At the end of 𝐅𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, the reader is left with a satisfying ending with a promise of more, and I just loved it!
Because 𝐅𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 is Book 1 in CCJ’s 𝑹𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒆 series, I hope to revisit Micah and Rhea’s story.
Overall, I loved and would most certainly recommend 𝐅𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧. I cannot wait for Book 2 in the 𝑹𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒆 series.

Through touch, Rhea can see someone’s past and present. Micah can see someone’s future and tries his best not to intervene in order not to negatively alter one’s future. He saw her in his dreams and fell in love with her before they even met. He is the Ace of Spades and she is his Queen of Spades and together they’re like a perfectly stacked deck of cards winning while complimenting each other. Her friend Isolde has the same gift as Rhea and I feel has though Isolde and Blue, Micah’s friend/brother, is going to get together. Santiago was in his feelings about Micah and Rhea being together and even laced Micah’s water at exhibition boxing match trying to make him lose but Micah still pulled out a win. I can’t wait to see what happens in the next books.
I love when CCJ gets in her magical realism/PNR bag. It’s never over the top or too fantastical, always borders along the edge of otherworldly and she’s so clever with it.
I really enjoyed Rhea and Micah’s story and could’ve read 100 more pages of them falling in love, getting on each others nerves, reading each other like a book and developing their connection. Also it was just great to be back in Jones’s Black Vegas universe and see some familiar faces. Fingers crossed we get more from this world and these characters—how does Blue handle what happened with the other club, what’s up with Isolde, how did Rhea settle into her new position, etc.
Nevertheless I love R & M’s dynamic: headstrong woman with brat tendencies and a man humored by her prickliness, but never afraid to humble himself before her.
That was all it took to be locked in now - “you’re always on my mind “ - or whatever SWV said. Rhea had a gift passed down her maternal side that she guarded because touch was a gateway and few knew about unless they were gifted as well. Micah has a gift, not much was unknown to him, but he learned the hard way to keep it as a thought no matter what. These two cross paths and instantly - connection. It was peaceful, it was new, it was safe. Something that two extraordinarily gifted people could count on - kindred. I always love when CCJ does paranormal because it doesn’t follow the usual story and characters. Awesome read!
Rhea was a bottle girl who noticed Micah at a boxing event. She met him personally in the club after he won a championship. They immediately connected but she didn’t believe their connection was real . She had her track shoes on but he wasn't having it. I love the mind reading aspect that they both had. Who wouldn’t want to be able to read their man’s mind? Rhea & Micah together was too good. I love to read a good novella. My only problem is that I always want more. I would read a 300+ page book on this couple with no issues.
I’m not a paranormal girlie at all. Fantasy is not my cup of tea so I’ve been hesitant to start this venture into this side of CCJ’s work. But the lady is my favorite author so I’m willing to deep my big toe in a little.
This quick read truly left me intrigued. I love the connection to her other work and I was left actually wanting more (about the character that is). I also want to know if they got Santiago hating ahh.
It never fails to amaze me how CCJ can write a whole novel in the page count of a novella, with fully developed characters, vividly described world and scenes, and a strong and interesting plot line. Once again, she wrote a FANTASTIC, COMPLETE story that I hope has the next in the series on the way! I am satisfied, yet hungry for more.Thank you very much, ma’am!
CCJ has definitely mastered the art of giving you what you need while making you wish you had more. I LOVE this new arc. It’s sexy and magical without being scary/ freaky, neither of which are bad, this just feels so fresh and fun! A nice paranormal story without the usual vampires and werewolves from THE Sis Don’t Miss. I’m wondering if CCJ is like Micah. Bc how she be knowing??
I feel like I always say this, but when it comes to novellas, telling the right part of characters’ much larger timeline makes all the difference! This is the perfect portion of Micah’s and Rhea’s lives. We get just enough background and just enough of the present to know what the untold future may hold! I am looking forward to not only rereading this, but to the rest of this paranormal series as well!!!
One thing CCJ is a master at is world-building. I haven't made it through her backlist, but every time I dive into one of her books, I'm reminded just how vast her universe is. I really enjoyed Friction, but I wished it was longer—just 100 more pages to wrap some things up and give a little more to the main characters.
I hope with this being the first in a series that we get to see more of Rhea and Micah.
I have read almost every book CCJ has wrote and this book is definitely in my top 25.
Micah and Rhea’s love story was definitely one of a kind and I enjoyed seeing it unfold. Having the same gift as your partner can be hard to figure out but I enjoyed seeing them figure it out as their love story came to life.
Plus it was great seeing other CCJ characters make an appearance in their love story. Definitely recommending it to others!!
Sooo excited for the next one! CCJ has been a favorite of mine for years now. I’ve read almost her entire catalog. She’s such a talented writer. Friction was a great length for anyone who likes quick(er) reads. Full length is my preferred but CCJ can pack so much into her books even when they’re shorter. Micah and Rhea have great chemistry and I love that they share this gift yet there’s a subtle difference between them. Read this! You’ll enjoy it for sure.
I LOVE the fact that Christina C. Jones is doing more paranormal books! Rhea and Micah had a connection from the start and it was something they couldn’t avoid! This plot was definitely different from any book that I’ve read before. Of course Christina nailed it to the tee!!!! You got to read it to understand it! I highly recommend this book! It’s like no other!
I wasn’t sure that I’d enjoy the paranormal element in this book. I should’ve never doubted CCJ. Like always, she made it interesting and entertaining. I loved the way the couple could truly see each other. It made it seem like nothing could work against them. Their mutual attraction to each other sweet. Outside of their romance, there was enough drama to add some grit to the storyline. I’m looking forward to reading more from this series.
