Keeping Kasey: An Enemies-with-Benefits Mafia Romance

Rate this book
Kasey

I would’ve been perfectly happy doing this job from the comfort of my home, like I always do. I rarely meet my clients, let alone move in with them.

But Logan Consoli is not like other clients.

He likes games, and I’m not one to back down from a challenge.

There’s no harm in a little fun—and playing with Logan is very fun.

Until the game changes.

Beating Logan was a challenge I relished—now, it’s my only hope of survival.

Logan

I will do whatever it takes to protect my family—even if that means recruiting the bane of my existence to locate the traitors hiding in my ranks.

Kasey’s talents? Cybersecurity and pissing me off.

She’s the most infuriating, strong-willed, self-absorbed person I’ve ever met—and kissing her is quickly becoming an addiction.

A no-strings-attached fling is exactly what I need.

And the exact opposite of what I get.

I will do whatever it takes to protect my family—even if that means killing Kasey.

Keeping Kasey is a CLOSED-DOOR American Mafia enemies-with-benefits romance, meaning that while intimate scenes are implied, they do not take place on-page. It is the third book in the Love and Blood series. It can be read as a standalone, though it contains spoilers from previous books.

It was boring. I did not like it but I still finished it. There was no chemistry between the MCs. They started kissing way too soon, after their second or third meeting I think. FMC did look someone strong but that changed once they hooked up. They didn’t even love each other. I didn’t feel that. MC was engaged to OW for most of the book and his description of Isabella was affectionate which confused me. Because after his description it seemed he will marry Isabella after having fun with Kasey. Or that he’ll keep Kasey as his mistress.

Also, I would never have forgiven MMC. I hate people who don’t think before blaming or don’t give a proper chance for someone to explain themselves. MMC was ready to kill her but later he had the audacity to question why FMC ran away to save her life instead of staying and letting him finish the job🤷🏻‍♀️ like BFFR. There was no grovelling done. He just ‘felt’ sorry.

The story in general was pretty boring ngl. There was nothing happening. No action and all. I did enjoy the very last scene where MCs are stuck in the cottage.

I could guess the major plot twists so that didn’t work out well for the book.

really liked Keeping Kasey by M. B. Smith. It’s a mafia romance with the enemies-to-lovers trope, and it kept me interested the whole time. The story is about Kasey, a cybersecurity expert, and Logan, a mafia leader. Logan needs Kasey’s help to find out who is betraying his organization, but they don’t trust each other at first. Since they have to work together, they slowly get to know each other, and their relationship starts to change.

My favorite part was watching Kasey and Logan go from arguing all the time to actually caring about each other. Kasey is smart and independent, so she doesn’t let Logan push her around. One of the biggest spoilers is that Logan goes from thinking he might have to kill Kasey if she becomes a danger to deciding he would rather protect her than lose her. That was a big turning point in the story.

Overall, I thought the book was exciting and had a good mix of action, romance, and suspense. I would give it a 4.5 out of 5 stars. I would recommend it to anyone who likes enemies-to-lovers stories, mafia romance, and strong female main characters.

The start was a bit fast. It was way too fast without building of the characters. Suddenly they are in love (without depth as to WHY the enemies fall in love actually). She was annoying the whole time at the beginning. Like, you are doing business, just keep quiet en do your job if you dont wanna die at the hands of mafia.
It started to become better in the middle, but then it felt really stretching at the end and I couldnt wait to finish it.
So the flow of the whole story was not that great.
The plot was a nice idea, I liked the plot twist, but the execution could've been better. Maybe more about his fiance etc. In some parts I felt like it lacked the transfer of emotion.
It wasnt a bad book, but if executed well, it could've been great.
Also, Logan is pretty d*umb for a mafia boss lol.

I didn’t love it, which surprised me because I loved book 1 & 2. I think it’s because I wasn’t feeling the enemies with benefits trope. Story was good but something just didn’t connect for me with these two main characters as a couple.
