Like Nothing I've Ever Read
may have some spoilers
This was one hell of a ride...we take up exactly where we left off at, which I believe is the airport. From there the story just moves, it never slows down. We are in deep with needing revenge against Lightner and Nazar. Unfortunately that does not include Jack. Jack has unfortunately fallen so in love with Sam that he can not see his life without her. And that leads to a bad road for him. While Jack struggles to get a grasp on life without Sam, Sam is planning her offensive against her enemies. While trying to fend off her affection for her first love Wes. We are gifted with all points of view from Sam, Jack, Wesley & Roxie. Roxie is our newcomer and also a kickass lady with a bag full of tricks.
I was definitely very disappointed throughout this second part, especially with Jack and his behavior. But I couldn't fault him for his weakness. He dealt his whole hand and lost big, but can pull it together when he needs to and realizes that he's not willing to give up on Sam. Wes weasles his way in under Sam's armor and takes advantage of her weakness for her first love that had no real closure. Sam is not unrealistic in her attempt at revenge or exacting her version of justice.
Which ultimately leaves us with unresolved questions at the end of this one again...except the third book isn't even listed on Goodreads yet...and I'm left feeling lost. hehe
So what will happen with Sam? We leave her after the final showdown and are just barely given a bone at the end.
Will she even have the energy to pick between the two men...will Jack even be there to fight for her? Wes will be there though, and I'm sorry but I'm totally team Jack even with his faults, cause Sam disappointed me too...I accept it as a form of closure for her, but I still don't like it at all. So we still are left hanging again....but I still love how beautifully written these two stories are. This leads me to reviewing Alexi Lawless in her entirety, can I hear a hell yeah! This one is the first one in this genre that I have found that I can honestly say wow. Its written with so much detail that it must have taken her months to get it just right. From all the different languages (Italian, Spanish, Russian, Persian etc), to doing it from multiple POVs, fight scenes, to military speak just wows me. Awesome job and although I'd love to rush you on the next one, I want it to just as great as the other two!!
