What a fun ride! I might be a little chafed... in a good way, lol.
Some of the stories in this set were heart-string tuggers. Some were fun romps. All were entertaining. My two favorites were Cowboy Trouble by Autumn Piper and Cowboys Don’t Cry by Vickie Taylor.
These two both showed exceptional characterization. With Autumn Piper's Cowboy Touble, the heroine, Suzie, was so believable as a Texas debutante. Not only were her speech and manerisms spot on, but her thoughts reflected her privileged southern uppringing. Her past was so poignant to me. Her issues felt so real and I wanted so badly for her to get her happy ever after with Cash, the cowhand from her daddy's ranch.
With Cowboys Don't Cry, Vickie Taylor treated me to an opening scene the likes of which I've never seen before. There were blood and guts, secrets and shotguns... and instant attraction. I was hooked from page one and couldn't put the book down 'til the happy ending.
The others in the set are good, too. They all entertained me. This set is definitely a great value. I highly recommend it, especially for Piper's and Taylor's contributions.
Say Yes to Cowboy Up! This fantastic box set, has some of the best cowboy romances that will keep you entertained and wishing you had your very own cowboy. I was excited to read this series because it included Cowboy Bred, Cowboy Born by D’Ann Lindun, but I enjoyed the other 6 stories as well. I am astonished this awesome set only cost so little. This is a definite must read for any western, cowboy, or just plain romance lover!
I like this box set of books I would recommend this book to anybody that likes a little sex that leads to marriage. I had only one story that I bypassed that I wasn't interested in. It was a lot of romance, which I like , I also like the struggles for them getting to the point of marriage and getting together.
This box set of Cowboys is amazing. I have laughed and cried through it all. Who doesn't like Cowboys. They work hard and still take care of their families.
I am a huge fans of westerns, so the chance to read an anthology of the genre was really compelling. While I did enjoys some authors work more than others I found all the shorts to have a unique twist to them, taking us on very different adventures, some quite unexpected.
My hat off to these ladies and their collection. It's a great way to expose readers to authors and a wide range of interpretations of the genre. I won't say who, but one storyline was quite near and dear to my heart, and I've never read a book that touched on the subject matter before. My hat off to this author, that she has such a compassionate heart.
Story #1: Good! Story #2: Needed to check the spelling of Reba McEntire's name! Story #3: a) Needed scene/POV break in Ch 5 b) Had a wrong scene break later in chapter c) Chapter 6 was too short (imho) d) Chapter 7 needed a scene break
Every once in a while a girl gets the urge to find herself a cowboy. Or in this case seven cowboys. This is an enjoyable cross-section of writers at a terrific price
Easy read , but keeps you drawn in wanting to know more throughout . Great stories , easy to join the characters in their adventure, feels like you are right there with them .
These are short stories and I was expecting full length books. Some were good, but fell short. Two could have been better. Always, Cowboy ~ Allison Merritt 3 stars This storyline was cute; however, it seemed like something was missing from the storyline. I did not fall in love with the characters enough to want to read another book about them. I wish the author developed the characters more and that there was a little bit more to the story. A Cowboy's Heart ~ Leslie P. Garcia 4 stars This short story was good. There were too many typos or missing words to overlook. I would have liked to read a chapter or two more about the characters where the book left off. The Heartsong Cowboy ~ Melissa Keir 4 stars Great storyline but it felt rushed. Things happened too quickly. I think if it was developed more in certain areas it could be a five star book. Cowboy Trouble ~ Autumn Piper 4 stars Too quick of a read for me but I liked the story. I think a few parts in the book could be expanded more. I did fall for the characters; it makes me want to read the previous books in the series. The biggest downfall I have I this book is the evasive wording for the sex scene(s). I know some women do not like talking (writing) about such things but there are medical terms that should not be uncomfortable to say or write about. I just think the author could have embraced the scene(s) better. Chasing a Cowboy ~ Sara Walter Ellwood 4 stars A good short story. I did feel the story wrapped up a little too quickly; I wished the story was drawn out a little more. I did fall for the characters so they were well developed. Overall it was a good read. Cowboy Bred, Cowboy Born ~ D'Ann Lindun 3 stars This was a cute story; however, it did not appeal to me as most stories do. I did not make the connection with the characters to want to read more about them. I think the author needed to develop the characters more fully. I understand this was supposed to be a short book/story but I could see so many different things happening in the storyline to make it a full book. I just think the author could have done better.
Most of the authors in the Cowboy Up book set are new to me. This collection is a great read. I enjoyed this collection and look forward to reading more from these authors. The heat level varies from book to book. These stories are well written and fairly short, perfect for those with limited time for reading.
another great series of 6 cowboy stories, all different, from 6 great authors, I loved all of them and loved the HEA's, light hearted reading and great stories, looking forward to reading cowboy up 2 now
I enjoyed most of these stories and would recommend them anytime. I read them one-by-one in between other books and it kept them form seeming repetitive.
I enjoyed most of the stories in this collection. Especially Allison Merritt and D'Ann Lindun. Nothing like a cowboy to melt your heart and soothe your soul.
I loved every book in the series. Each one had their distinct theme. They were enjoyable and I am a sucker for romantic endings. I would recommend them all.
I loved d'anns Lily summer cowboy and Melissa kiers a pigskin cowboy. Don't want to give any spoilers but loved all the characters in each story. Would recommend these book to read
