Sam really shares his heart, his struggles, the failure of friends (holla!) and of leaders in his church. You ache with him and the pain he describes, and yet he gives so much hope and reason to keep going. He isn't shy about the pain of rejection, of pouring out and getting nothing in return. His writing is real and that's why it's so relatable. Whether or not you have similar struggles, possibly mental health challenges, or life has simply been wrought with grief or trials--this book is for you. And even if life is easy, what a wonderful perspective shift to read from such a vulnerable, true to life point of view. Pick up this book! You will be brought low and encouraged at the same time. I feel compelled to action, to love others better and to do my next task with joy. I highly recommend giving this a read!

I enjoyed this book. Sam went through so much and I'm sad for him that he lost people and had that difficult year. I did like his 12 reasons millenials are over church. My experience is church is unwilling to change and I can have faith without it being on other people's terms. Sam is always trying to serve others the way Jesus did and it is admirable. I hope his suicide awareness organization Recklessly Alive continues to do good in the world.
