Bittersweet #3

Bittersweet Hate

Rate this book
Warning from Author: This isn't your typical romance story. This book contains strong sex scenes, lots of bad language and things that might not be suitable for all readers. Reading this novella may cause uncontrollable heartache, loss of voice, and damage to ones reading device. Proceed with caution, for you have been warned. This is book one of Corey and Mimi's story with the second book releasing in November.

What happens when fire meets gasoline?

That’s all it took was a spark. One kiss and I was hooked. I wanted to hate Corey Winchester more than anything and most days I did. He was an arrogant asshole, and bully. He didn't know the first thing about love but yet here I was falling into his lap.

Then things changed. I changed. Someone broke me, and he was there to pick up the pieces showing me a part of him I had never seen. Compassion, trust, and love. I wanted to hate him, with everything in me I wanted to look at him and feel nothing but I guess love and hate can’t coincide together.

What happens when you think you know someone? Like really know them?

Turns out we didn't know each other as well as we thought.

Turns out if you play with fire for too long you, you will in fact get burned.

My names Mimi Jones and this isn't a fairy tale.

Spoiler Alerts!!! JL Beck you have done it again! OMG I need the next book like now!!! Holy crap I really want to punch Corey in the throat right now! He better find a way to fix this cause his actions suck! I get that he's freaked out but that was really harsh. I have a feeling it's gonna get worse before it gets better though. Wow just wow! Mimi won't forgive so easily I don't think and she should. He basically told her she was just a good time to him. It takes two so he needs to man up and get his act together before he looses everything. This author and her books are absolutely one of my favorites. I would definitely recommend this book to others! If you haven't read JL Beck's books you need to because they can't be missed.

First off I have to say I received this as an ARC directly from the author in exchange for my honest review. Now that the formalities are out of the way let's get down to the nitty gritty :)

4.5 Emotionally Charged Stars

J.L. Beck has done it again! This was another great book! Please, please heed the warnings you will be angry and frustrated with a lot of the book. It is good, but very strong emotions throughout the whole thing. If you want sweet, romance, and butterflies this may not be for you. If you don't mind some angst then it is a great read.

Mimi Jones is back in the third installment of the Bittersweet series by JL Beck. She is full of anger, frustration, emotions, and the wall is firmly in place. The walls eventually start coming down over time until they completely crumble. She finds solace in the most unlikely of places and against her better judgement lets them in. She struggles pretty much the whole book on whether or not she made the right decision.

Corey Winchester is back as well. He is now a changed man so to speak, well maybe not all the way. He falls for the most unlikely of people and lets them in. If you have read the other 2 books in this series you will find that his family's track record isn't so hot in the relationship category so he brings a lot of baggage to the table. Will he be able to get past this or will it crumble and fall at his feet?

The minor characters are Brody, Ryder, Rex, and Mimi's best friend Jenna. Brody plays a big role in the beginning, and shows up one more time briefly and then that is it. I would sort of like to know what happened to him the 2nd time he showed up ;)

All in all a good 3rd installment to the series. Pretty typical to things there are some very brief grammatical errors, but not that big of a deal in the end. I don't dock for errors unless there are so many it takes away from the story, that is not the case with this one.

Finally, I get Mimi’s POV and let me tell you : JL Beck did not disappoint! I FLOVE Mimi, she has made my BGF list!

She is a freaking spitfire, in and out of the bed! Mimi’s inner dialogue with herself as well as her outspoken nature will definitely have you laughing and asking if she really said that! I would never want to be on her bad side that’s for sure! She is confident, strong and beautiful but at the time there is so much more to her. She is simply a girl afraid to fall in love so she has guarded her heart like it’s Fort Knox. This story will show you her vulnerable side and that alone will touch your heart.

Now let’s get down to business:

This book showcases how much JL Beck has grown as a writer! The prologue sucked me completely in, I was hooked and it was no going back for me! Watching the hate that these two had for each other turn into love was a rollercoaster ride I will ride over and over again. It was beautiful, every word that was spoken between them had me hanging on for dear life. Their chemistry is off the radar and my goodness can Corey give a girl everything she wants! It was so hot I am sure I burned a hole through my panties *blushes* but that’s our little secret!

COREYYYYYYYYYYY! Ugh, you are a twatwaffle seriously! How dare you make me fall in love with you after everything you have done! I can’t right now, I am so in my feelings! I am confused, don’t know if I love or hate you and all I can think about is: if it’s November yet so I can get my hands on BT! Hopefully this hangover doesn’t last too long…

Bittersweet Hate is the best in the series! JL Beck is getting better and better as the series goes on.

This is Mimi and Corey's story. Two of the characters I hated have made me fall in love with them.

But of course at the end, I hate Corey Winchester again grrrrrr

I need Bittersweet Trust, yesterday!

Now, on to Bittersweet Symphony!

I enjoyed getting to know Mimi in the first two books of this series, so I was pretty excited to read the beginning of her story in Bittersweet Hate. I was NOT disappointed!

Mimi worked her way into my book-loving heart with her compassion and dedication to her best friend, Jenna, who was being bullied and harassed by their classmates. Mimi's fierce loyalty and sassy, fiery attitude made her an incredible character.

In Bittersweet Hate, I got to know more about Mimi and learned she has vulnerabilities and insecurities just like every one else. She is also in love with Corey, the ring leader of the "let's make Jenna's life hell" group. I could tell she was conflicted about her relationship with Corey, not just because of what he did to Jenna, but also because he had showed the type of evilness that lurked inside him. Jenna gave her "okay" to Mimi being with him, so Mimi and Corey began a complicated, passionate, steamy, fiery relationship. Mimi and Corey have to work hard for their union to be successful beyond sex. They both have to learn to trust each other, to fight the demons of their past, and become the incredible people they are capable of being. Corey especially needs to find it in himself to be the man Mimi needs in her life. Bittersweet Hate begins this journey and contains a shell shocker of a question-filled cliffhanger ending that the next book will be able to answer.

Even though I loved beginning Mimi and Corey's journey with them, I felt a little unsatisfied with a couple things in this book. I was a little confused by how quickly some of the events took place and moved on. For instance, Mimi has an abusive ex boyfriend who is stalking her and there is a fabulous build up to him finding her in the library and her being scared and hiding. Then Ryder (Corey's cousin) steps in and all of a sudden the ex is "taken care of" and isn't mentioned again. Another example is Jenna came over to take Mimi to get a pregnancy test on Christmas Eve, but they went on a shopping spree and Jenna didn't stay five minutes to wait for the result. This whole event was just confusing to me. I felt a disconnect in Jenna and Mimi's friendship that was so incredibly tight and strong before. I wish I could have seen more of that. I also would've liked to have seen more of Mimi's sassiness that she proudly exhibited in the first two books. I only saw it a handful of times in this book as her more serious and vulnerable side definitely took over. This is okay and it fits with the nature of the story; but since I feel like I know Mimi, I just felt like something was off with her character. As in the first two books, there are several grammatical, mechanical, punctuation errors in this book that really started to wear on me. J.L. Beck is obviously a very talented storyteller, so it saddens me that proofreading errors get in the way of her writing abilities truly shining to the level they should be. I am not able to immerse myself into her writing as much as I would like because I am constantly stopping and mentally fixing errors. Maybe it is just the teacher in me, but I really want J.L. Beck's books to truly be the best they can be.

I truly enjoyed getting to know Mimi and Corey better. I can't wait to see where their journey goes in the next installment to this series!

4 Stars!

This was a good story. It was a quick read that packed a serious punch.. It was full of tense moments and drama along with some serious steam.

This is Mimi and Corey's story. If you have read books one and two in this series, then you know these two have a seriously complicated love/hate relationship that is almost violent and seriously toxic. But when these two come together, it is explosive. But like with these two nothing is easy and is definitely hard.

I would recommend reading books one and two in the series as it give a great back story to these two characters. I can tell you I HATED Corey in books one and two (even at the end I felt he did not redeem himself) but I am a sucker for the antagonist's story so I had to read this and it reaffirmed to me why I still effing hate him. Just when you think he turns a corner.. BAM! He takes 20 steps back. I was also on the fence about Mimi before starting this book but found she was actually pretty deep with real emotions. This book helped her feel more human (if that makes sense!).

That ending... WTF! I do need the next book because I am curious as to how this author is going to play out what is to come for Corey and Mimi.

I recommend this book and series.

Holy Cow!!!! I love this series. First Jenna and Rex and now Mimi and Corey!

Corey is a strong man who treats people the meanest and crudest way. In the first book. Now in college and knowing how he treated people he is trying to make it up. Mimi was dating a guy named Brody but Brody did some harmful things to Mimi and Corey help her out. But over time the feelings of love and hate got mix up and soon Corey figured out how much he care for Mimi even tho he felt like he needed to prove he was a good guy.

They have this crazy relationship until something happens and Mimi relies that she truly loves him and has a lil freak out but Corey already knew how feelings and Mimi did too. Then things start to get mess up and hateful things come out. It was far the best one yet.

Book 3 has gotten to be the best one so far in the bittersweet series.

Much awaited story of Corey and Mimi, and I have to say Josi hasn't let us down. Corey and Mimi are as explosive than ever!

There love/Hate relationship has you walking on eggshells. Just when things seem to turn around and go for the young couple. There's a little problem that puts that all to a sudden stop.

This book ends on a good cliffhanger and will leave you salivating for book 4 and wanting to tear into Corey. Tut tut tut

Congrats on another smash hit book, I'm begging you to give me book 4 pwease :-) lol

Wow, what an emotional roller-coaster
This book is a very highly charged emotional roller-coaster ride. Well written and very entertaining to read. I was given a free copy by the author for an honest review. I did not read the first two books of the series and yet it did not distract from the story. Just when the girl/woman finally lets some love in all things turn to hell in a hand basket. There is a cliffhanger at the end to help facilitate you into reading the next book in the series. Very enjoyable book.

Another great piece of the story. This time we get to look at the relationship between Corey and Mimi. This one is a bit more turbulent because their's is truly a love / hate thing for much for much of the story. When they finally get together, you get a real glimpse of them as individual characters, about their fears and their driving forces. Now we all have to wait to see what will become of them because in truth, their emotionally turbulent relationship is just beginning and now there are more loops added to the roller coaster.

YA/NA with MAJOR CLIFFHANGER that does not get resolved in the next novella in the series -- just a warning.

Writing has improved marginally, but typos and grammar issues are still prevalent. I was hoping for more back story on Corey but just got a lot of anger.

Story of Corey and Mimi -- who hate each other just enough to love each other. But who are stupid enough not to use condoms or birth control or communicate in anything resembling a healthy manner.

THIS REVIEW IS BASED ON THE DUOLOGY.

CAT VS DOG TROUPE LEADING TO INTENSE SEXUAL TENSION? DOUBLE CHECK!
THIS IS AN OLD TIME FAVORITE OF MINE (THE GENRE) BECAUSE OF THE ANGST.

OUR HERO is a dumbass...because not only was he an asshole to the first heroine who happens to be our heroine's bff and he wasn't likeable AT ALL in the first two books, he starts changing here and well his relationship with Mimi is still strained but the sexual tension has amplified. It's clear that there's something between the two, it's like a pull they cannot resist and LET THE FIREWORKS BEGIN when they start getting down and dirty in the sheets. Corey is tormented by what happened to his family, his father cheating on his mother and if I'm not mistaken eventually leaving them. So, like most heroes with this traumatic experience he swears off love. But his relationship with Mimi gets rocked when she becomes pregnant and he can't face or handle the reality of being a dad. Thats when he turns into an asshole again...this time he needs to find the way back to his one true family - his girl and his baby.

OUR HEROINE I had doubts about her personality. In the first two books of this series, I wouldn't have given her the BEST FRIEND OF THE YEAR AWARD in fact she sucked as a best friend. So I was a little reluctant to read her story when she came off as selfish and bitchy. Don't get me wrong I do enjoy bitchy CHARACTERS but Mimi just didn't sold me off as the LOYAL kind at first not till later. Later, she becomes bearable and more like a likeable heroine.

OVERALL if you have read similar troupe like this, then it's pretty much what you can expect out of it.

Hate is book three of the Bittersweet series by J. L. Beck. This is absolutely the best book of the three. After reading the first two books we already have an idea about the core personalities of Mimi and Corey; Hate expands on how these two individuals mesh or more appropriately don’t mesh as a couple.

I started in the “I hate Corey” camp however, by the end of Love and in the early part of this book we see the loving, caring defender that Corey can be. He fights hard to get Mimi to take him seriously. Corey pretends he is over Mimi and doesn’t want anything to do with her but he stands up as her Sir Galahad. Who wouldn’t love this guy?

“You see Mimi, the only problem I have with talking and not fucking is when you get to talking, you get to thinking, and when you get to thinking, you get insecure and then suddenly you’re coming up with excuses as to why we can’t be together and I don’t want the excuses Mimi. I just want you.”

The people around Mimi are aware of the spark between her and Corey but Mimi fights him right and left. Even Jenna, who should hate Corey tries to get Mimi to go with her gut. There is a beautiful scene between the two friends that I love.

"You know what? Nothing in life is simple. Love is hard, it's hard to get, and it's hard to keep. You know why? Because people like you, they find it and then run; they are so scared of the unknown that the second that they realize they're falling they leave. Protecting yourself in this fake bubble does nothing. It's a false sense of security, love isn't meant to be painful. What you're experiencing is fear, and you know what Mimi? You're the strongest person I've ever met. You stuck up for me when no one else would. You protected me, and now I'm protecting you from yourself. Let go, fall helplessly and madly in love and I guarantee Corey will be there to catch you."

I like that Mimi and Corey’ story isn’t a carbon copies of Jenna and Rex. We follow these two through a completely different relationship dynamic. Corey and Mimi both have relationship issues and the way they handle their unease with a relationship is very different from Jenna & Rex’s journey. I like that a lot.

We don’t really get to the core of Mimi’s issues, in my opinion, but it seems that she has heard nothing but lies before. She protects herself by convincing herself that she doesn’t care about people. She just wants to party as much as she can.

Corey doesn’t think too much of his dad because of the way he treated Corey’s mom. I get the impression that he is afraid he is too much like his dad and compensates by putting up walls to protect himself and keeps girls at an emotional distance. As long as he loves them and leaves them no one expects anything else from him.
The dialog in Hate is greatly improved from the two previous books. For me, it is more realistic and reminds me of young college kids I know. I like that there are special touching moments as well as light, funny moments with some gut wrenching, soul searching moments, thrown in for good measure.

I don’t consider this a spoiler because anyone who read “Love” knows that Corey beat up Mimi’s abusive boyfriend. We also know that Corey was arrested. My question is why. Mimi was obviously attacked and someone needed to help her. I don’t get why Corey was arrested and I don’t get why Ms. Beck didn’t give an explanation. This is an example of the complaints I’ve had about the first three books. Situations are set up but never closed or explained. It is frustrating for the reader.

The more I read about these college friends the more I enjoy their stories and I want to know more. I am looking forward to the rest of Mimi and Corey’s story. I hate this ending because it sent me back to the “I hate Corey” camp. I also need Ryder’s story. He is a big mystery.

My biggest criticism is still the lack of proof reading. There are too many typos and basic grammar errors. I am not a grammar Nazi so if errors jump out at me they need to be fixed. My other bitch is the books are too short. I really wish Ms. Beck added more meat to each book. I know this is redundant but there are too many unanswered questions. The books never let the reader into the minds of these characters completely. That said, this book does a better job compared to the previous two.

"Let me own you, let me be the reason you eat, breathe, and sleep. Let me love you, and you'll never have a worry in the world. Give yourself to me, and I'll forever be yours. ~ Corey Winchester

I know right? I couldn't believe those words came from Corey Winchester either. If you've read Bittersweet Revenge and Bittersweet Love you know Corey is actually, well a douche to put it mildly. He spent two years making Jenna Hanes life complete misery. All for something she had nothing to do with. But anyway, Jenna and Corey's cousin Rex have their happily ever after. So now it's Jenna's best friend Mimi Jones and Corey that have a bittersweet hate relationship.

If you remember from the first two novella's Mimi has feelings for Corey. Even though he tortured Jenna for two years, she's drawn to him. And Corey, well, Corey is a sexually charged male and you can tell he wants Mimi. What you didn't know is the depth of his feelings for her. If that first quote made you swoon, some of the other things he says to Mimi will bring you to absolute tears. Who would've thought such a whorey guy could have such feelings?

After a night of incredibly hot passion, Mimi and Corey embark on a, shall I say the word? Relationship. Corey is ready to go full on into this thing. He is head over heels for Mimi. He's ready to claim her for his own from that first night. He even gets rid of his go to girl for sex, Chelsea. If you know anything about Corey, you know this is huge.

The sexual relationship Corey and Mimi share is blazing hot. If you noticed anything from the first two novellas, you know these two are both sex on a stick. Everything about them is squirm in your chair, change your panties intensity. Yes, that steamy. Lord knows, I would've never thought Corey was book boyfriend material, but this book had me salivating for him.

For someone as damaged as Corey, you would think he would be the one afraid to let go and fall in love. But when he and Mimi finally go there you quickly learn Mimi is the one afraid to let go and fall. What happens if she gives him everything and he breaks her? Is Mimi really willing to take that chance? Given his history, is Corey really a changed man? Can he give Mimi the forever he promises he'll give her?

To find out one click Bittersweet Hate and read away. Mimi and Corey's story is one that had to be told and is definitely not finished yet. They're passionate, they're sweet, they're angry and most of all they're perfect together. They just kind of don't know it yet.

So be ready for a plot twist that I didn't see coming and a cliffhanger that will have you begging for J.L. Beck's next Bittersweet installment. As I read Bittersweet Hate, I thought to myself....Ryder really needs his own story. And guess what? Bittersweet Symphony (shameless plug) is on the way to do just that.

I find myself saying this time and again, but this is a must read series. The books are just so raw and truthful and definitely sexy that you will read them in one sitting. I know I did.

Bittersweet Hate absolutely gets a five lip smack review from me. Corey becomes a true book boyfriend (mostly). Redeeming himself from many of the crappy things he's done in the past and still showing he's human. Mimi is strong and feisty, yet shows a vulnerability she hasn't shown before. Start at the beginning, read them all and get ready for Ryder's story!

***WARNING***
This review contains some spoilers for Books 1 and 2 (no spoilers for Book 3).

Bittersweet Hate is the 3rd book in the Bittersweet Series.

This series is being written and released in a way I have never seen before and I am totally in love with it! So far it has been a story of 5 people and each book focuses on two of them while the other characters still play important roles. The first book (Bittersweet Revenge) sets up the series. We find out the history of this group and how they interact with one another.

The end of book 1 hints at a possible relationship between Jenna and Rex, along with a cliffhanger to lead into the next book. Book 2 (Bittersweet Love), focused on this relationship and ended with a possible relationship of two other characters that we are now familiar with, Corey and Mimi. This book also ended with a twist, which lead the reader to want more. Each of these books wrapped up the main story nicely, then started to focus on a new relationship and next thing you know…BAM! Cliffhanger!

Thankfully J.L. Beck does not waste any time in getting these books out to her fans. I don’t know how she does it but she is able to write these quickly (Thankfully!!) and with a high quality storyline.

Book 3 (Bittersweet Hate) starts off where Book 2 (Bittersweet Love) left off but with an explanation as to Corey’s situation (the cliffhanger from Book 2). Just from reading the first few pages of this book, I could feel my heart racing as it was explaining what lead up to Corey’s situation.

This book still had all the characters from the previous two books but the focus was on Corey and Mimi’s love/hate relationship. We are updated on Jenna and Rex’s relationship, and Ryder still plays a roll in this story. We get more hints about his personality, not enough to know what is really going on with him, but enough that make us want more!

This book is short but J.L. Beck packs it with a great story! As I was thinking about everything that happened in this book, I had to check to make sure it was all in the same book. Keeping with the theme of the other books, this also ended in a cliffhanger. But WOW! What a cliffhanger it was!! This may be a little controversial and I can see why but I think if it ended any other way, it would not have held true to the characters. The good thing is, Bittersweet Trust (Book 4) is out soon. I cannot WAIT to get my hands on this one! I HAVE to know what happens next!!

The story of Mimi and Corey.

Their story started as hate, they hated each other with every fiber of their being, but neither one knew that what they felt deep inside was a whole other story.

Mimi and Corey’s relationship was always a roller coaster ride. They had a love hate relationship, that neither one knew anything better….until that one day when they both finally gave in to their sexual frustration. All it took was one taste and Corey never wanted to leave Mimi’s side ever again. After that day they were inseparable, each day they shared more of themselves to each other. The more serious the relationship got, the more Mimi got scared. Every time she had those feelings, she always had her talk with her best friend Jenna. Jenna always helped her clear her head, no one knew her better than Jenna.

 photo BittersweetHate-Teaser1.jpg

As for Corey he will stop at nothing to prove to Mimi that he is nothing like his father, that he will love her with all he has. Until one painful confession from Mimi sent him running. It was suppose to be one of the happiest time in Mimi’s life, instead Corey left angry and made her feel all alone.

Will Mimi and Corey ever figure out how much they mean to each other?
Or Will Mimi just let Corey walk out of her life completely, without a fight?

 photo BittersweetHate-Teaser2.jpg

When I was reading the first two books, I always knew that Corey had a good side. Yes what he did to Jenna was unacceptable and should’ve never happened, but there was a good in Cory and Mimi always saw that. They knew they had something, they just had to figure out what it really was. Yes Cory and Mimi are two broken people, but they always found balance with each other. Mimi always pushes Corey’s buttons and he always pushes back. I love that no matter how messed up they got, they always found their way back to each others arms and be ok again.

I can’t wait to read the next book in the series, I would love to know where Mimi and Corey’s story will go. Hopefully a happy ending is in their future, they do deserve it. <3

*** I Love Story Time was gifted an ARC in exchange for an honest review ****

I just want to say, I can't believe how fast I got through this book! I seriously could not put it down and read it in one sitting! I was looking forward to reading Corey and Mimi's story. Their relationship (if that's what we should call it in the beginning) starts off in book 1 as a love/hate situation. Corey is always bulling Mimi's friend and Mimi is always sticking up for her to him, but you can tell that they have some background between them.

Mimi still has her feisty mouth, and I love it! She has always had the balls to the walls, take no shit from anyone type of personality, and she definitely delivers that in Bittersweet Hate. Mimi and Jenna's friendship is still going strong! I really liked hearing Jenna give advice to Mimi. Mimi is scared of her feelings for Corey and Jenna tells Mimi what she needed to hear.....

That was one of my favorite parts in the book! I loved the love that Jenna shows Mimi and the faith that she has in Corey regardless our their history. I also was happy to read the little parts that Jenna and Rex were in! I can't wait to read more about them. I would also love to read a book about Ryder. It appears that he has some dark secrets and I just want to know about all of them!

Another great book to the Bittersweet Series! The ending was another one that left me wanting more. I can't wait to see what happens and hope some people step up. If you are already in love with this series, I'm sure you won't be disappointed with this story! As for the ending, all I have is ....

Oh My...... MARSHMALLOW!

I just finished Bittersweet Hate and I just absolutely loved it! This is apart of the Bittersweet series so to get the full experience you need to read the whole series and trust me, you do not want to miss out on this! If you have followed along the series than you know that the first two Bittersweet Revenge and Bittersweet Love are about Rex and Jenna. This is Mimi and Corey's story. Mimi is best friends with Jenna and Corey is Rex's cousin. You know Corey is a douche, he totally ripped Jenna apart and even thought Jenna has forgiven him you s till kinda loathe him yet kinda want him. Mimi is in the same boat. They both want each other but they both are afraid of love and treat each other like shit as a defense mechanism. They both finally let the petty shit aside to see what their future will hold. There will come a major obstacle that they both wont expect. You will just have to read and see what happens.

I loved it! Im hooked. I couldnt put it down and I was so freaking upset that it ends in a cliffhanger. I should have caught on to it since Miss Beck does these things like this, alas for this very reason! Miss Beck has a way to spin a story and take us back to our younger years and to me it all on par. Sometimes authors have a tendancy to make things unrealistic, it doesnt make anything bad, just not real. Not Miss Beck, she is just amazing on how to does the story and her characters. She really makes us have a love/hate relationship with them and you cant help but just be so torn. LOVE IT!

I love Corey, I will be the first to say it. I dont care for him much or for the things he says and does but yes I will wholeheartedly admit that I love him. He can be a complete douche but what guy cant? Mimi is just amazing. She is strong and damn, does she give it back to him. once they finally acknowledge their true feelings damn was it just HOT! I love them as a couple. I cannot wait to see more from them and what could possibly come from other characters.

Im hooked, lined and sinker for this series.

Overall 5++++

We have already met Mimi and Corey in the other Bittersweet series of books by J.L.Beck and this one is just as good as the rest. I think it may be my firm fave so far, the story is break neck, from the beginning when we experience a traumatic event with Mimi to her combustable relationship with Corey. We also learn more in this book about Corey who we have met in both book 1 and 2, and was a central part of Jenna and her story. I also really enjoyed the glimpse and it is a glimpse into the character of Ryder and i cannot wait to read his story and i hope i will be lucky enough to get to review it. But back to the central characters of Mimi and Corey, i loved the banter between these two they spark off each other in such a great way and the pithy comebacks are brilliant. The ending though OMG J.L.Beck you broke me why did it happen, i understood what was happening nut i need to read the outcome NOW!!! I have been left on a cliff edge not knowing what Mimi and Corey will do now and i need answers. You are great J.L.Beck i loved this work of yours.I will not reveal anymore about the story as i do not want to ruin it for you, but read this novella series i urge you to. By the way i have included a teaser which sums up this book perfectly - hot and sparky.

OMG.

So if you haven't read the first two books of the Bittersweet series, THEN GO READ THEM NOW. WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?!

I loved it. I LOVED the passion between Corey and Mimi. It wasn't some regular, sappy romance. The story depicts the reality of what it's like out there in the real world and how hating someone with your entire being can turn into something more in just a few moments.

I HATED Corey at first. HATED him since the first book of the series, Bittersweet Revenge (GET IT, I highly recommend it!). In this book, I started to soften up a bit... buuut.....
I don't wanna spoil anything, so I won't say anymore! GET THE BOOK.

The air of the story matches the character's personality. I was sooo impressed by how different the way this book was written compared to the first two books. This book was written by the point of view of another character, and the way it was written differently was ON POINT.

This book is filled with love, hurt, anger, humor, and much more. J.L. Beck is an EXTREMELY talented writer, and I love how her books have this attitude to them (in a good way). She is able to create this story that sticks with you for suuuuuuuccchhh a long time and actually make you like it whether you want to or not.

I cannot WAIT to read the next books in the series! I need to know how Corey and Mimi's story ends and the story of Ryder (another character in the book)!! =D <3

Okay so I've done a complete 360. Yes you heard me correctly, the words no one that knows me ever thought they would hear, I LOVE COREY!!!
That's right, my favorite man to hate is now the man I worship.
After books 1 & 2 I'd have been the first to jump on the lets beat the hell outta Corey train, I hated him with a passion, didn't think anything could ever make me even sort of like him, then came Bittersweet Hate and my world was turned upside down.
Book 3 is my favorite by far, it's well written as with the previous books but this one tops them both!

"You know what? Nothing in life is simple. Love is hard, it's hard to get, and it's hard to keep. You know why? Because people like you, they find it and then run; they are so scared of the unknown that the second that they realize they're falling they leave. Awwww isn't that just the sweetest thing? How could you not listen to that advice?
As much as I'm looking forward to book 4 I think it's going to be hard to top this one, so bring it on Ms Beck, were waiting!!

So I am shocked that I am 5 starring Corey's story !! I was slightly horrified with the amount of love and desire I felt for him !! Damn Corey is like fire and I want to jump right in him !! I NEED MORE OF HIM AND HE BETTER REDEEM HIMSELF AGAIN !!

From the start Corey has been a thorn in everyone's side , but there has been this undeniable spark of lust between Corey and Mimi that although it pissed me off I was also very intrigued to see where it went. The gang is still in college , Rex and Jenna are happily together loving life and making everyone sick with their sappy love !! Ryder is still Ryder , screwing girls and not taking names !! Corey and Mimi are rooming together and having fun tormenting each other though deep down they both really want each other badly !! When they reach that point , WOW DAMN IT IS FABULOUS !! Corey had me drooling with his dirty talk and all he had done wrong was suddenly forgotten !! Just when Corey and Mimi are enjoying each other and making something of this new found love we have the problem , issue , twist...I won't say it is predictable , although I kind of had a feeling about it , but I honestly was shocked as sh** with the reactions when it was made known. Corey better hold true to his words in the end of the story because he is working his way back on my sh** list.........

Mimi and Corey have been circling each other since high school. Mimi was trying to protect her best friend Jenna from Corey’s bullying and somewhere along the line the hate she felt towards him morphed into love. Corey has been trying to make amends not only with Jenna but also with Mimi once he realizes his feelings for her are way beyond anything he has ever felt before. When he is released from jail for saving Mimi’s life he makes it his mission not only to protect her but to also make her realize that they can make it as a couple. That what they both need is each other. Yes they push each other’s buttons but that is what they both need; someone strong enough to not only put up with their brand of bullshit but dish it back as well. Though neither wants to admit their true feelings at first it is more than obvious to everyone else. I mean why else would you fly off the handle if someone else so much as looks in the other ones direction? When Mimi and Corey finally start to find some semblance of a real loving and lasting relationship a wrench gets thrown into their plans to be together. Will Mimi and Corey prove that they are stronger together? Or will Corey fall back to his old ways and push anyone and everyone he cares about away in fear? Can a love so new and fragile weather this daunting challenge placed before them?

Bittersweet Hate (A Bittersweet Novella Book Three)
By J L Beck

4 1/2 of 5 stars

This is the third Book in the Bittersweet series. I recommend reading the first two before you read this review!

Bittersweet Hate is Corey and Mimi's story. Mimi is rescued by Corey and ends up living with him in what is supposed to be a temporary housing situation. Their relationship which has always been complicated continues to be such.

When Corey and Mimi finally do get together it is like fireworks! Their physical relationship is very passionate and their emotional relationship becomes one of trust, and they start to fight the demons of their pasts together. Then BAM !!!!!

Mimi is in a crisis, she needs Corey and he is gone!

I really am enjoying this series. I am not a fan of Corey. For a few chapters I liked him, then he hurts my girl Mimi!! While I'm not a fan of cliffhangers, knowing from the beginning this was a series has made me okay with the endings!

I'm waiting for the next book rather patiently. I think Corey will try to redeem himself and we will see a lot more of Ryder. If you haven't started this series, I recommend you do so.

Mimi and Corey Story is not a fairy tale. It is the story of giving in to that incredibly strong feeling, you know the one between love and hate? The emotion that is in the blurred lines bordering love that if misinterpreted and misused will blow up and leave behind a broken hearted mess. Yeah that is what this story is about.
Mimi and Corey have always had an explosive relationship, that generates sparks the minute they give into what Corey feels is the love of his life. The only woman that has made him feel complete. The woman that he has given his hart to.
Mimi doesn't trust that Corey can change and be as faithful to her heart as he claims. Does she give him her heart anyway? Yes.
This is where this story turns to the not fairy tale Mimi thought she had found in Corey. Communication and fear play a huge role in their lives leaving a huge mess of tears and broken promises and most of all pain.
I love reading how that bad boy finally gave up his ways proclaiming her to everyone as his. Defending her to the women that threw themselves at him.
I did however, want to kick his A-- at the end. Mimi is a strong woman who will now have to face the biggest test in her life. I can not wait to read the next book!!!! I give this Mimi and Corey's story a huge thumbs up!

J. L. Beck has a magic for taking ordinary situations and making them unique, fun and entertaining. You will run the gamut of emotions while being completely entertained by her humor. Her characters are all quite distinct, with strong personalities you can't help but love, even the ones you love to hate.
.From Bittersweet Revenge the hate Dynamic between Mimi and Corey has raised it's head and announced it's presence, somewhere along the line the physical chemistry came into play and altered that line to a Love/Hate scenario.

Corey is a character you will like to hate from the first Novella til this one, however there are underlying actions and qualities that leave you hoping for his redemption,

Mimi is head strong, sassy, and brassy. She doesn't take any nonsense from anyone especially not Corey.

Circumstances throw these two together and what was a spark becomes a flame. This tumultuous tale ends on a quite the cliffhanger, but that is all good, as there is more Mimi and Corey to soon follow.

J. L. Beck continues to grow as an author! I look forward to all her future releases!!
