Ivy Vines, Visions

Rate this book
Moving to Sedona was the only way Ivy could think of to start over. She would meet her high school sweetheart and work on making things right between them. Her psychic abilities were gradually becoming a curse and she needed a new start. Little does she know that when she applies for a waitressing job at a local, upscale French bistro, she will come in contact with the dark and mysterious Eli Dubois. What she doesn’t realize is she has just walked into the middle of the Vortex Murders, which involve a great deal of paranormal activity. Elijah’s army of seers are being murdered, one by one, which seems to be magnifying Ivy’s special abilities.

Eli's best friend, Jake, arrives on the scene and reveals the secret that changes everything. With nowhere to turn, Ivy leans on the two men who offer her solace. And who is the old woman in the shroud? Is she a vision, a dream, or is she real? Only time will tell.

This is a good book. Ivy is running from her past and runs straight into a convoluted future. There are good men, bad men, and sometimes it is hard to tell the good guys from the bad. She moves in with a friend she had known in high school but as soon as she reconnects, the problems from her past come back. Who she thought she was there for, wasn't who she wanted any longer.

Eli is her new boss, but also something more. She feels drawn to him and he pulls her into a life she had no clue existed. He also introduces her to his friends, including his best friend Jake. There is a lot that goes on in the book that keeps you turning the pages to find out what happens next, and sometimes you still aren't sure! I know I want to read the next in this series because I want to know what happens to all these characters.

It was a 4/5 for me. I enjoyed the story.

*contains adult themes and some sensitive subject matter. I would recommend only for those 18 and older*

A romance with so many twists and turns you need paper and pencil to keep track. I think the editor needed one too because he/she missed catching a couple of things here and there.

The story moves along quickly. Is entertaining, but was so familiar I wasn't sure if I was watching an 80's Saturday afternoon horror movie unfold before my eyes. Then again, some of it sounded like the adult version of Secret Circle. It isn't a bad story. In fact, I enjoyed it and the set up for book 2 is quite interesting.

The dynamic between Ivy, Eli and Jake is well done. Her dependency upon Jake grows slowly, subtly even as Eli forces her attention to himself. The way this protagonist to antagonist develops is a mind trip. The whole book is a mind trip, or a walk down horror movie memory lane, however you choose to look at it.

This not being my normal type of book to read, it can't help to come across ones like these that will pull you in and you find yourself fully gulped within the pages! This book fall right under that! Every page keeps you interested as well as keep you wanting more. First time to read from this author and I do believe I will continue reading more of her work!

Ivy Vines has to be one of the best books I have read this year. I love paranormal romances. This was slightly different to the vampire and werewolves that seem to be the norm at the moment. In Ivy Vines, we have Seers, Guardians, Gatekeepers and the devil himself Lucifer.

Ivy knew she had psychic abilities since she was a teenager, she has visions but her visions are not always good. It was becoming a curse and as time went by her friends going away to college and nothing being left at home for her she decides to move to Sedona in the hope that her and her ex would start over together. That is until she goes for a job interview where Michael works and meets Eli, the owner. There was a powerful connection between them and it isn’t long before she is his. There are strange things happening in Sedona though. When seers are being killed, the Vortex Murders and a witch that seems to pop up from nowhere. I could go on but it would spoil it for anyone that wants to read it. I will say that it is AMAZING!!!!

I really liked Ivy, she had a good heart and was very strong. Eli and Michael, I didn’t like so much. They both betray Ivy in some way. Jake, OMG I loved him. He was perfect in every way, kind, caring, a true gentleman that would go to the ends of the Earth for the woman he loved.

I do hope there is a book 2 as the way Visions was left it seemed like there may be.

I love Judy Serrano’s books, I have not read one that I have not liked and every book gets better and better.

Holy smokes Ivy Vines Visions had me from the first pages. Ivy has powers, she can see the future. After a fatal accident that left her parentless at a birthday party Ivy has tried everything she could to be normal. Moving back from New York to her home town everything is going to Hell, quite literally.

Ivy is getting new powers every day and the elusive Eli has impregnated her to keep her from possession. Now they only have a little time left before the Devil finds her.

Ivy Vines Visions was awesome. Honestly. Ivy is sweet and very cute. She goes through a lot throughout this book but she’s always strong. She makes friends easily with other seers and is an all-around cool character.

Eli was a real dick. I honestly never liked him as much as Jake and while I got sorta that he liked Ivy it always just seemed forced. So yeah I was team Jake all the way.

My only problem was that none of the characters seemed to have any real depth. Everything was right at the surface. That and the scenes seemed to be really choppy where I didn’t know when one scene ended and another began. That was a tad irritating.

Thankfully despite the flaws they didn’t take away from the rest of the story so that was awesome. Ivy Vines Visions is action packed with forbidden love child spawn and dark evil creatures lurking behind every corner. I really enjoyed this book a lot!

If you can overlook that fact that Ivy is a horrible mother then you won't mind this book

Ivy Vines: Vision sounded interesting enough that I figured it would be a fun and easy read. It was somewhat of a change from the books I had been reviewing lately, so I was eager to see what happened.

What I Liked:

I'm going to keep this entire review very brief. I did not read the entire book, an explanation can be found in the section about what I didn't like, but the portion that I read was decently written. I cannot think of anything negative to say. It was simple, straightforward, and easy to read. The characters seemed like they could be interesting, and there was no time wasted before getting into the plot.

What I Didn't Like:

I did not read very far, however, because it is made clear early in the book that the main character is being hunted or attacked because the devil thought she knew when Jesus would return. As a Christian, I am always leery of supernatural fiction. I do not believe it is inherently evil as some people do, but it can take a dangerous turn very quickly if the author chooses to address the topic of religion. I do not take that sort of thing lightly. It was the reason I did not finish the Fallen series, and it is the reason I did not finish Ivy Vines: Vision.

Overall:

From what I read, the book seemed pretty decent, but it was not for me for a very specific reason. If that would not bother you, by all means, read it.

Ivy just wants to start over with her high school sweetheart so she moves out to Sedona to make things work with him. Little does she know that her psychic abilities put her in the middle of something even more and if things don’t stop soon she will end up being murdered. In walks Eli & Jake, two men who help protect Ivy from whomever is murdering all the seers, can the three of them stop what is happening or will they all fall to the same fate as the others?

WOW what a great story! The story was action packed, suspenseful and full of surprises. I was engrossed with the book and characters right from the beginning and loved how although Eli & Jake were strangers to Ivy in the beginning, they would do anything to protect her; as well as others; from being murdered.

I absolutely loved the Ivy & Jake, they were a perfect “couple” while playing out their role to make sure no one caught on to who she truly was with. He was sweet, caring and made Ivy feel at peace…he was ying to her yan….a perfect couple that couldn’t be together.

Not only do you have the exciting tale of what is going on with the seers, you have the added element of good vs. evil and who to or not too trust. I was pleasantly surprised with on one of the events that took placed in the story and loved outcome.

I received a free copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.

Ivy Vines was just your typical kid; at least she was until her thirteenth birthday. Her friend Gina brought over an Ouija board for their group of friends to play with. After their first experience, Gina reaches the revelation that Ivy has a sixth sense, and as they continue to play, all hell breaks loose…literally! Now, its several years later and Ivy is ready for a fresh. She moves to Sedona to live with her best friend Simone, and rekindle her romance with ex-boyfriend Michael. Unfortunately things aren’t what they seem, and Ivy’s sixth sense has been reawakened. Will she be able to survive this nightmare? Who is this old woman that keeps appearing to her?

What can I say about this book? I was completely engrossed from the very beginning. I loved the fact that this paranormal romance was unique in the storyline. There’s witches, demons, seers, shape shifters and of course the devil himself. The story flowed wonderfully, and I was at the edge of my seat wondering what would happen next. There’s lots of romance, including a love triangle. This was a great action packed novel, and I’m eagerly anticipating book two, I can’t wait to see what happens next!

"Ivy Vines Visions" By Judy Serrano

What do you get when you put together a group of seers with paranormal abilities, a prophecy, and Lucifer the Devil .... a kick but paranormal story full of action, betrayal, and lust. I really enjoyed Ivy Vines Visions By Judy Serrano. I found myself continuously turning the pages eager to find out what will happen next. Just when I thought I had the story figured out, Judy laid down another twist. The characters propelled the story forward and there was never a dull moment.

Ivy Vines moved out to Sedona to start over with her high school sweetheart, Michael, and be with her best friend Simone. She has discovered a world that she had no idea existed. Ivy has known she's different but now she is part of this world she just can't escape. Problem is who can she trust. Lucifer is out there waiting for one slip up and Ivy will be his forever the prophecy will be fulfilled.

Eli Dubois, owner of a French bistro and Ivy's boss has his own agenda on how to keep Ivy safe and his world in balance. Problem is he never thought that his best friend Jake would betray him and get close (Too close) to Ivy).

Ivy discovers at age thirteen that she has special powers or a sixth sense thanks to a friend with a Ouija board. After the turmoil that was the rest of her teenage years Ivy longs to just be a normal person again a person without psychic abilities. She treats her move to Sedona to be with her high school sweetheart and make a clean start. That is unfortunately not what she gets as she’s immediately sucked into the Vortex Murders. Ivy’s world is now made up of Gatekeepers, seers, guardians, vampires, witches, and Lucifer himself.

A paranormal mystery with a plotline that zigs when you think it was going to zag. From the first paragraph I was hooked into this compelling mystery. It is an epic battle between good and evil and Ivy doesn't know who to really trust. There’s romance, mystery, betrayal in this thrilling book. Do yourself the favor and add this to your read pile.

Disclaimer: I received a free copy of this ebook for review purposes. All opinions are 100% my own.

I enjoy a good paranormal thriller, and Ivy Vines didn’t disappoint. I became engaged in the storyline right away. Ivy finds out at age 13 that she has paranormal powers and her life is a mess because of them. She moves away from her home town as a young adult to try to have a normal life. She’s not alone, she moves close to her highschool sweetheart, Michael, and her best friend, Simone. She and Michael try to rekindle their romance, but a secret is revealed that makes that too hard to handle. Besides, Ivy’s life take a turn to the weird, anyway, as she meets Eli who forces her to face a reality that changes her life forever. Will Ivy survive this new life? Pick up the book to find out. You will not be disappointed!

This book was short and sweet but packed with MYSTERY. I enjoyed this book a lot and if you need an afternoon book this would be a great one to buy. I related to Ivy because she moved to start her life over just like I did several years ago. However, her plans of making it work with her High School sweetheart went south as soon as she walked into the Bistro for a job, where the dark mysterious man Eli Dubois, owner of a French bistro had his own plans for Ivy. Ivy has psychic abilities and everyone is hoping this will help solve some murders or it might just get her killed too! There is betrayal – no one should be trusted. I enjoyed this book a lot and highly recommend to readers who like paranormal romances.

This is the second book that I have read by Judy Serrano, I was very excited to read Ivy Vines Visions, I loved the cover, I found it very eye catching, and I was hoping the story was equally as good. I love paranormal and I love a thriller so to find that it was a paranormal thriller, I couldn't wait to get reading.

I decided to start Ivy Vines Visions whilst I was in the car waiting for the kids to come out of school, I didn't want to stop reading, and it didn't taken me long to actually finish.

Would I recommend Ivy Vines Visions? Yes I definitely do.
