AFTER The Fire that Ate The Mountain

Rate this book
After The Fire that ate the mountain, Anbessa and his band continued the quest down the River that Flows the Wrong Way. They were the first to understand the importance of caves and how they could be used to keep the band safe and secure. They were the First Cavemen. Regardless of the circumstances they continued to forge strong family ties and to develop new,, and in many ways startling, ideas. ©

Excellent read

I thoroughly enjoyed this continuation but I still had some trouble pronouncing some of the names. Edward brought out the meeting and integration of other cultures with the Neanderthal. I particularly liked the way he introduced traditions such as burials below ground, three day waiting period before burial, and men taking a more central part in the actual birthing of the children. He also realistically introduced terms like Dada for father. Edward writes a very entertaining story and at the same time developes a theoretical more modern Neanderthal.

Very readable.

While the characters and sittings were outstanding, I felt that there was too much that was repeated two or three times.
I would have liked there to be more about hunting and fishing than there was.
