She’s used to hooking yarn, not hooking werewolves…

When Zoey's estranged grandmother passes away, the crafty crocheter volunteers to venture to Pine Falls, Colorado to clean out the woman's cabin. But when a confusing flyer lands Zoey and her balls of yarn in the middle of a motorcycle club's bar, she becomes tangled with the residents of the mysterious small town. One handsome biker in particular seems hell bent on tying her up in knots.

Warner Jameson wants Zoey. She smells like the perfect mate with a side of maple syrup and her laughter is the sweetest sound he's ever heard. When the woman appears in the Dark Moon Riders' bar toting a bag of crafts and showing no fear toward the mass of intimidating bikers, it's all Warner can do to keep from kneeling at her feet. The problem is, not only is Zoey an out-of-towner, she's human. And he's...not.

Unwilling to let his supernatural secret ruin his happiness, Warner decides to show Zoey just how lovable a monster can be. It helps that she needs rescuing a time or two. But what start out as unlucky accidents, soon become clear actions of sabotage against the woman he's falling for. Someone in Pine Falls doesn't want Zoey sticking around…

4.5 stars rounded up and thank you Elizabeth for the BR!

This hit the spot. I can assuredly say that books don’t typically start with a crafter accidentally showing up at a werewolf biker bar for a Sip and Stitch night, but maybe more books should. The start of Zoey (h) and Warner’s (H) story is frothy, funny, and sweet. Then the author takes us into deeper waters with some angst, heart-wrenching struggles and reveals, and a touch of bittersweetness, while still delivering on the softer romance. I got teary-eyed a few times, but I also smiled a lot, could have highlighted a slew of excellent lines, and I fell in love with these two and some side characters.

Written in first person, dual POV (with one POV from a side character). No ow/om drama and both are experienced but had been celibate for a bit (the h says it’s been a year for her and she was cheated on in her last relationship; the H had a playboy reputation that has petered out, he confirms it’s been more than a month for him but his brother implied it had been even longer since he took anyone home).

Some tropes/themes:
☆ Werewolf x human
☆ She knows nothing about the paranormal world
☆ Crafter x biker
☆ MMC is considered to be the funny, easygoing guy
☆ FMC intends to only be in town for a short time
☆ She’s the dominant one
☆ He’s still protective
☆ He needs his person
☆ She cares about his noggin and apologizes with crafts
☆ Mental health rep
☆ Cute, giant dog sidekick
☆ Loving (and overbearing) family
☆ Werewolf dynamics and pack traditions
☆ Sabotage
☆ Complex histories
☆ Side characters who need their own stories

Warner was a sweetheart, quick to smile and laugh, which is all that most people saw. He was genuine and he deserved someone who would be able to see past the surface to get to all the other good parts. Warner is infatuated with Zoey from first sight and he’s set on learning more about her, basking in her aura. Zoey was also sweet and I adored her heart and desire to test herself. She has strength and resilience, but with edges of uncertainty and worries, making her extremely relatable. Both mains were detailed and it was the easiest thing to sink into their story to cheer them on or hurt with them.

I’d say this is relationship-driven since that’s the core, with some side plot line that end up popping up, such as whether Zoey will stay and whether someone is messing with her. I liked many aspects of the flow, but one in particular was how the reveal of the supernatural was handled. Warner’s fears leading up to it and Zoey’s reactions and need for processing once it occurred made sense. There are times when each could have communicated more clearly with the other or been more open earlier. The emotional intimacy and communication are there though when higher stakes were on the line.

Steaminess-wise, there are a few scenes and Zoey does take the lead, which Warner’s happy to give her. I lean more towards enjoying the MMCs being the dominant one and this dynamic didn’t bother me at all, he’s all about pleasing her and it worked really well. There’s even a “good werewolf” moment. The sexy times also fit with the relationship development and within the overall story arc.

Side characters were sometimes scene-stealers. Zoey’s brothers were suffocating and heavy-handed, but loved her so much and I enjoyed getting to see them in action, as well as Zoey’s reactions to them. Warner’s family were more muted in comparison but had their own strengths and challenges. His older brother was very intriguing and I’m hoping he’s paired with Zoey’s new best friend (which that friendship’s start and solidification were wonderful inclusions). Warner’s friend, who becomes Zoey’s friend too, was hilarious and I’m going to need her story as well. Between families and pack, there were plenty of supporting cast to add extra humor or drama.

The third act was not at all what I expected and does have a completely different tone than the start of the book, less fluff and more angst. Zoey and Warner do have a sort of third-act breakup that barely lasts, but also gets overshadowed by the drama that unfolds and leads to the bittersweetness mentioned at the start of the review. External forces and others’ choices lead to repercussions that don’t have an easy resolution. Though the ending for the main couple is a solid one and an epilogue that’s six months later with a moving mating ceremony. I was ok with where everything is left and not having a firmer bow tied on the situation that arose. Especially because Warner and Zoey’s HEA refilled all those warm and fuzzy feelings.

I loved this couple and this new town that the author introduced. Her Folk Haven series is my favorite of hers and this definitely gives my love of that series a run for its money. I’m excited for the future stories and to see Warner and Zoey as side characters.

After a few lacklustre reads this month, I decided to switch genres and pick up a shifter romance. I was super into that genre a few years ago and remembered it being a lot of fun.

Now, this wasn’t a bad book, but I just never found myself wanting to read it. My mind was constantly straying as well. I honestly think it would have been a better book for the fall with all the cozy vibes it was giving. So, yeah not much to say on this one. I’m also not sure it helped with my slump🤔

Would you like to read a paranormal romance starring adults where the FMC takes charge in the relationship (including the spicier bits) and isn’t a wilting wallflower, and the MMC isn’t an alpha jackass who squashes her potential and undermines her independence?

Well ARE YOU IN LUCK!

Seriously, I picked this book up because I am an avid crocheter and you don’t see many books involving the hobby that AREN’T cozy mysteries…and I like werewolves. I wasn’t expecting it to be quite as good as it is. In fact, I started it today and I finished it today. That says a lot.

The humor and banter are excellent, the world building is cozy small town vibes, the mental illness rep was great and relatable, and the golden retriever energy of the MMC was perfection.

I am so sick of all the same old, same old romances being put out these days…and men are assholes in real life a lot of the time, I don’t want to read about them in books as well. So, that leaves me hating about 80 percent of books published lately. This was a welcome surprise, and gives me hope that authors will start turning things around and putting actual green flags in their stories.

For once, TikTok did not steer me wrong! I’ll keep an eye out for the next books in this series for sure!

I gave this 3 stars to begin with but after thinking about it, dropped to 2 stars. To be honest, it was boring. Both main characters were boring. I don’t know how to explain it. Nothing about either character jumped out and made you really want to keep reading about them. I’m just bummed I paid $4.99 for this book. What’s so sad is that it had some much potential.

🌶️🌶️1/2 - 2.5 spice

This is so totally cute and cozy and sweet, but thankfully there’s a clear storyline too. While it’s not super deep or intense, the fun romance and the cinnamon roll that is Warner totally had me skipping through the book.

Our female lead is shockingly strong, especially considering everything she’s struggling with. She’s got a smart mouth and sass for days, and I loved that she was both tough and stood her ground, but also had vulnerable moments. It was such a relatable portrayal of someone going through a dark time.

I loved the siblings in this book. As the oldest sister of seven younger siblings myself, the interactions felt so real and meaningful. I really appreciated how the two leads genuinely wanted the best for each other, and how it never felt one-sided they were willing to give to each other without hesitation.

And that ending? That twist had me shocked. I honestly didn’t see it coming at all. While I would’ve loved a stronger plot overall, I wasn’t disappointed. It was just a genuinely enjoyable, cozy read.

The spice was open door and descriptive, but not overwhelming. It worked with the story and never overtook it, which I really appreciated. It was safe, consensual, and well-handled.

✅ What I liked:
Sweet and cozy vibes
Cinnamon roll male lead
Strong female lead with real vulnerability
The dog!!
Consent and healthy communication
Safe, open-door spice
Big family dynamic

❌ What didn’t work for me:
The “bro” moments from the guys were a little over the top sometimes

Would I recommend this book?
YES!! Totally.

Would I reread it?
Easy yes.

Summary
A super cute, cozy werewolf romance full of sass, sweetness, and heart with a twist you won’t see coming.

OMG! I totally forgot to update on finishing this book and I have already started another one. That’s what happens when you have a million things on your mind, I guess. Sorry about that.

Overall, this has been a good kickstarter for the Fall Season. It has the perfect blend of romance, paranormal and cozy vibes. Aaaaan it has werewolves … if you know me, you know what that means hehe.

I enjoyed this. It was very cute and fluffy. Warner was very sweet, I liked him a lot, and I thought Zoey was a likable character too. The way her mental health was woven into the story was quite good, though I didn’t really buy her big final conflict at the end, that felt a little forced.

The external plot was fine, though a bit strangely paced and I didn’t really feel the urgency of the threats against Zoey until towards the end of the book. The final twist did shock me and I thought the final denouement was well-written and quite sad.

Overall this was an enjoyable and easy to read book, and I would be interested in reading more in this series.

Content Notes: Fated mates, werewolves / shifters, motorcycle club, small town, instalust, man obsessed.

This book is one that I want to read over and over! ❤️Zoey goes to her estranged grandmother’s cabin in search of herself, doing something on her own, and break out of her shell. In the middle of the woods, with no cell service, she’s determined to do something for herself. What she doesn’t expect is a hot biker, Warner, wanting nothing more than to be his.

Warner is the typical description of a small town man- he’s friendly, he’s helpful, people love him, but he felt like something was still missing.. NEWS FLASH!! A crochet loving, smart mouthed, Zoey!!

The way the truth came out? AMAZING.. The family ties and drama? Spectacular! This book gave me so many emotions. The perfect spin of wolf ethics, grounds rules, and romance! Who knew that a small town with a pub and a store, with similar names, would bring the two of them together?!🐾❤️

TPAM-BR

This book was a lighthearted diversion and is the perfect choice for a reader seeking a simple, low-stakes escape. While it may not be a literary masterpiece, it succeeds as a fun and undemanding read. The narrative is breezy and moves at a quick pace.
The story, however, can be a bit unfocused and inconsistent. The plot sometimes feels scattered, jumping between events without a strong central anchor. Similarly, the characters lack depth and complexity. Their motivations are simple, and at times corny.
In the end, this isn't a book that will challenge you or linger in your mind long after you've turned the final page. It’s a book to be enjoyed for what it is: a surface-level story that offers a pleasant, if fleeting, distraction.

A solid 3.5⭐️
Zoe heads to Pine Falls to prepare her grandmother’s house for sale—and to find herself. What she doesn’t expect is Warner, a charming biker werewolf who upends her quiet plans. The spicy scenes are descriptive and hot, yet tender and respectful, with a heroine who knows what she wants and asks for it. Balanced with a not-too-dramatic plot and a brief but irritating third-act breakup, this read is both cosy and carnal...a delightful surprise.

DNF at 22%

Characters so boring it nearly put me to sleep; I felt no tension, no chemistry, just a supposed instant attraction based on very little.

It also felt as if there were chunks of story missing, like it hadn't been padded out yet and it made the progression between the main characters even more unbelievable.
Disappointed, but oh well.

Pretty cozy even though there are a few parts that dive into the grieving process. 3 stars because there were bits that couldn't hold my attention. I mean, the grieving seemed a little intense for someone who had never met the person, but maybe I'm more cold-hearted than most.

I never managed to get hooked : both main characters didn’t make much sense to me, in particular the female one, there was hardly any story or action or plot whatever you want to call it, and not enough wit to make up for it.

What a cute and cozy read! Exactly what I needed right now ☺️ And as a crocheter myself who yearns to live in a world of fantasy, this hit all the spots!

It was funny without being too cringe, and it was sweet with just the right amount of steam. Zoey and Warner were a great couple, and I loved their dynamic.

I’m looking forward to reading the sequel and learn more about Juliet’s story!

This one fell a bit flat for me - I know a lot of people who would love it, but it definitely felt like more of a cozy read, versus a shifter read like I had hoped for.

I didn’t care for either MC-Zoey felt oddly contradictory - claiming she’s an introvert, but is the “alpha” in a werewolf x human relationship? Her being an introvert or depressed just didn’t jive with how the rest of her was written. (And yes I realize depression manifests differently in everyone, but it didn’t feel fleshed out, or additive to the story) Waren was a bit better, but overall his personality just felt very bland. He’s a wolf shifter and had no real interesting qualities - I personally was disappointed that the female was the “alpha” in their relationship. It came off to me that he was just… a pushover. I believe he was described as a “golden retriever” personality toward the end of the book. I don’t mind that, but I think I was just expecting more from a shifter character - more… grit?

The plot fell a bit flat too - but knowing now that it’s a cozy read that makes more sense.

I’m sure a lot of readers would and will enjoy it, it just wasn’t my cup of tea.

This book was… okay. Not bad, not great—just a light, easy read that didn’t demand much from me. I picked it up hoping for a cozy, Halloween-ish supernatural romance, but what I got felt more like a small-town rom-com with a sprinkle of shifter drama thrown in at the last minute.

The pacing is fast and the tone is light, which worked when I wanted something to zone out with. There were moments that made me genuinely laugh, and a few scenes had that heart warming, small-town charm that hits just right. To its credit, it’s enjoyable in small doses.

That said, the story lacked focus. The plot bounced between romance, family drama, and a dash of wolf shifter fantasy without ever feeling cohesive. It read more like a collection of ideas loosely strung together than a fully developed narrative. The supernatural element, in particular, felt tacked on. Warren’s shifter reveal had the potential for drama or tension, but it landed flat. Zoey’s over-the-top reactions—stab herself, freak out briefly, then move on—made the whole arc feel shallow and unearned.

The characters were another weak point. Warren and Zoey had chemistry, but both felt one-dimensional, and their motivations often came across as cheesy. The family dynamics, meant to be quirky and endearing, instead felt overbearing and exhausting. I never really connected with anyone on a deeper level.

The writing itself was fine—clean, readable, with occasional charm—but it couldn’t make up for the lack of depth, cohesion, or emotional stakes.

Overall, this book is a passable, low-stakes romance with a tiny hint of paranormal. If you’re looking for a quick, fluffy read with minor supernatural elements, it might work for you. For me, it didn’t quite deliver the shifter drama or emotional punch I was hoping for.

4.5 stars. Yay for an excellent buddy read with RL!

This was a sweet and funny story that was a joy to read. The ending is a little heavy and sad, though our two main characters are together and in love. I'm hoping the rest of the series provides some good resolution to the painful stuff that came out towards the end of the book with the "villain". I wish it had been completely satisfying. The romance was... but some of the other drama was just heartbreaking.

I absolutely adored how Warner and Zoey get along. They are such a fun couple. As the youngest in her family, with four older brothers, Zoey is fearless and knows how to push back. I love how she pushes for what she wants and needs. Her brothers are hilarious and I loved them, even if I could see how much of a pain in the butt they could be.

This is close to "love at first sight" for Warner. He sees this cute woman come into a biker bar and drink whiskey and crochet and he's intrigued. For the rest of the book, we see him like the cutest golden retriever just wanting her to pet him. He's so cute.

There are some points where both of them keep secrets from the other and I'm never a fan of that, but it gets resolved well.

What broke my heart is the revelation of who has been tormenting Zoey. And I don't even know how to think about it. It just makes me so incredibly sad.

Safety deets
- Zoey has dated others... including her last boyfriend who cheated on her.
- Warner has a bit of a playboy reputation (not my favorite), but thankfully, we don't meet any past lovers and it sounds like he's been celibate for a while.
- We get to see them in their happily ever after.

Wow. I did not go into this book expecting to love it as much as I did.

The plot might not have been anything special but all the characters really drew me in and captured my heart. ESPECIALLY Zoey, oh my god. I could literally gush about her forever.

Based on first impression, I thought Zoey was gonna be this timid and easily flustered heroine, but she wasn’t. Far from it.
She might not have been physically strong but she was a baddie in every other way.
She was not shy or timid in the least.
She was kind hearted but also had a strong back bone despite her struggles with depression.
She could stand up for herself and make a point and she knew how to be persuasive and gently manipulate people into getting her way.
But she was also never unnecessarily stubborn or unreasonable.
She was sexy as hell as well and the chemistry between her and Warner was absolutely fire.

Warner was truly the perfect match for Zoey.
A total simping sweetheart.
He was everything Zoey needed in a partner.
Protective without being smothering, fun, supportive, loving and slightly submissive.
I loved them together.
So different from the flirtatious and mildly arrogant playboy I thought he might be, again based on first impressions.

It was definitely a very low angst book.
Any conflict was quite quickly resolved which suited my anxieties ass just fine.
I could totally see it turning into a comfort read for me because of it while other people might find it boring.

Such a pleasant surprise this book turned out to be and I can’t recommend it enough for people who like shifter romances.

I believe this author is slowly becoming a new favorite. I’ve only read one other book from them and loved it.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I decided to preorder the ebook because this was her newest release and I was intrigued by the premise.
Also the cover is gorgeous. 💜
Simliar to the other book I read from them this story was a pleasant surprise, mainly because I didn’t have any expectations at all. This book was a fun time and what I needed!

Such a cozy small town shifter romance with a protective werewolf MMC and a crafty headstrong human FMC with some spice. 🌶️ No knotting, just to clarify. 🚫🪢 But there is the inclusion of the MMC being immediately drawn to the FMC, because of her scent.

There’s elements of family ties, as well as found family with the townspeople and pack members.
I was definitely swooning over this couple’s relationship.
I also laughed at the humorous moments sprinkled throughout. There was some cheesy moments, but I found them endearing. 🧀😉
I even cried about 80% in when the FMC expressed her battle with depression.

Ultimately I loved this story, and look forward to reading Juliet’s book when it’s is released.

In the meantime I need to make an effort and continue with this author’s backlog, including her other shifter romance books, the Folk Haven series. 💙

Definitely recommend, I love this author’s writing, her characterization, and was completely entertained with this story.

Lauren Connolly is one of my favorite authors, and I didn't even realize this book was hers originally!

Claws and Crochet is such an engaging, sweet and sexy paranormal romance--we've got it all. Found Family, Biker Werewolves, sort of scent matching(?), mental health rep, and all the small town goodness.

Warner Jameson, is charming, charismatic, to sexy for his own good, and 100% knows what he wants. What he wants just happens to be Zoey Gunner aka Mystery Girl aka as the woman who accidentally came to a biker bar for the crochet club she saw advertised in a flyer at the library. Spoiler alert: not the correct bar with rabbit in it's name.

Warner is hooked from the minute he sees her pull out a crochet project in the middle of this biker bar, and accidentally make eye contact with him. Her sweet maple syrup scent? All the better.

This turns into just a whole lovely story, Zoey insisting she wasn't in the smalltown for love, that she was just temporarily cleaning out her grandma's place and leaving and Warner and his wolf 100% on a mission to make her his.

The story, is sweet, spicy, emotional with a hint of mystery...you've got to read to see, it's so good and I can't wait for more Wolves of Pine Falls books!! I have an inkling about what other connections there might be ;).
