An omega who doesn't want to be any alpha's girl. Two sinfully hot, packless alphas and a scarred, mute beta who might just complete her.
Raeka Whittenhall doesn't like alphas. As the middle child in a founding family, she was always told one day she'd find herself a pack and settle down... but that's not what she wants. Alphas can be boiled down to smug, superior men who run the world, and she's tired of it. She doesn't need their knots or their affection; she proved that to herself by getting through her first heat alone.
But now her mother is hellbent on finding her a match, so she decides to play nice and go to the Omega Garden. She hires the infuriatingly handsome alpha Pax Alabaster as a bodyguard to help scare away potential suitors who might be interested in her.
And it works... until her mother tells her she's going to start setting her up herself.
Then a peculiar alpha lures her in with a strange offer, one she finds she can't move in with him and court his beta nephew. To the world, it would look like Raeka and Gideon Chase are a couple, but behind closed doors, she would only be there for Colter. She would have her freedom and never be forcefully bonded to an alpha.
It's a win-win, until Gideon surprises her with her own personal bodyguard - who just so happens to be the handsome alpha she thought she'd never see again. Living in the same house as Pax, Gideon, and Colter while keeping her sanity and her heart safe? More difficult than she ever imagined.
Falling in love with any of them would be a mistake, but falling in love with all of them would be plain stupid.
Raeka is about to find out that sometimes building a pack happens when you're least expecting it.
I absolutely loved this. I definitely had a soft spot for Pax after the first book, and this one was so good. I loved seeing this pack come together and all the different dynamics how it just worked for them. some scenes literally had me doing little happy dances. Couldn't put this down.
3.5 stars. A little insta-lovey and had some grammar and continuity errors but nothing huge. I loved that the FMC was so against being with alphas and being in a pack that she went to such extreme measures to avoid that fate only to realize that what she really hated was the way society treated omegas, not alphas and packs themselves.
I do wish it had delved deeper into each of the pack members' issues (especially the nephew) instead of having the FMC be what healed them all, but ultimately I just liked the story and how they were together as a pack.
No third act breakup and no OW drama.
Beware that two of the MMCs are uncle/nephew. Idk why that threw me off since I've read multiple why choose stories with father/son and brother/brother MMCs and didn't bat an eye, but even the story felt it was a little icky so...
Not quite as good of a lead up with tension and drama as the first but I do really love the addition of the beta in their pack and that he needed healing and the self harm aspect as well as sign language because that was my learned language in high school and I have deaf friends. I’m curious who the next book will be! Although I think Rourke maybe?! As her sister is too young and we didn’t meet any other omegas.
This book is the book I wanted after I read Knot Their Darling before I knew it was already written and it was a joy to read.
I already loved Raeka from the previous novel and knew Pax would be her match even though we didn't really see much of him in that novel. In this one we also meet sweet, nerdy, slightly naive Alpha Gideon who asks Raeka to pretend to date him but in reality he's wanting her to court his housebound, mute, scarred, younger nephew Colton and he hires Pax as Raeka's bodyguard at her request. The chemistry gradually builds between the 4 of them and we also see a sweet MM coupling with Pax and Gideon which is an adorable relationship from my point of view.
I absolutely loved this book and really can't wait to see which route Candy Marie goes next - another bodyguard Roarke or kidnapper Bradford. Maybe both?
I have not read the first book because I tend to only seek out books with m/m. So I came to these characters brand new. It's also a first from this author for me.
Okay so the good: I was immediately hooked by the story line, and honestly throughout the book I really loved most of the characters. It was a quick and easy read, the story moved along pretty quickly, and it's definitely worth reading at the beach. The spicy scenes are pretty spicy, and varied.
Things I didn't like: the third scene drama was honestly unnecessary and resolved too quickly to be worthwhile, the story didn't need it and I wish that time had been spent building up some other parts of the story instead. Pax rubbed me the wrong way because even in his internal monologues he just referred to everyone as their designation instead of their names and it weirded me out. The insta-love was a bit too instant although I liked the boundaries set. And also, the uncle/nephew vibes were a little weird, particularly because the author made sure to mention many times that the nephew was "only watching a little bit" during the scenes with the uncle. Ick. Not my thing.
I haven’t read the first book in this series, but I might just might need to. I loved the dynamics in this group of people. Raeka was such a great omega not a whiny self absorbed person. She just wanted to be herself. Pax and Gideon were a great mix of Alphas. I loved that they were different. I can’t stress enough how much I loved the beta Colter. So much growth and he was included and not left out. Totally recommend!!!
Love that Raeker got her story and found some men to prove to her not every alpha is the same. Started off stubborn but with a gentle and quiet/mute beta and two older 😜 alphas became the perfect pack for Raeker. Highly recommend.
I like R. I liked her from the first book. But honestly C stole my heart. I mean how could he not? Good story. The “drama” seemed like filler just to add angst to the story and was unneeded.
The characters, the story, everything about this book was amazing. I couldn't stop reading it. The dynamic between the characters work perfectly as well as the hot spice 🔥
This was a fun book in this Knottingverse. I really enjoyed this group and how they came together and was excited to get the read more about the pack from the first book.
DNF page 7. I tried but I didn't like the writing. It was like a cross between a text book and an old classic to me and i just couldn't force myself to keep trying. Not for me.
I thought it was cute so freaking basic there was nothing making me fall in love with the characters plus the omega was annoying. Also another thing that was kind of gross was the fact that it was a uncle and nephew in the same pack.
