Samuel Granville came to Missouri on a two-part mission. First was to get a group of emigrants from Independence to Oregon City. Second was to get his brother Nick back home to the Willamette Valley.

While glad to see Sam, Nicholas Granville doesn't feel ready to rejoin his former life. He just wants to be alone with his grief and only agrees to help Sam in town with the pioneers. Once there, Nick is captured by a pair of lovely green eyes which make his trip west unavoidable.

This is a very short and free preview to the Oregon Trail Series.

Samuel Granville was a man with a mission; two to be exact. He traveled east from Oregon to Missouri in search of his brother Nick. Nick had ventured out a few years earlier with his wife and child. The traveled east to try to build a life in Missouri as during the westward migration of the 1800’s most people, thanks to the discovery of gold in California and the vision of the Pacific Ocean lured people past perfectly good farmland. Blinded by stories, sometimes grossly exaggerated, the United States almost resembled a bowl, with the population centers concentrating along the Atlantic and Pacific coastlines. Nick’s dreams died with his wife and child, causing him to regress and assume the life of a hermit and recluse. Samuel’s first quest was to save his brother from himself and his second was to lead a wagon train to Oregon.

This narrative is written as a serial. Many great writers of the past (Mark Twain and Charles Dickens, to name just a couple) presented their novels in small installments to the public. Their main reason for doing so was both social and economical. The social aspect involves the importance of local newspapers in any given community and the influence it had over said community. The economic aspect comes with the cost of publishing, printing and distributing said book. Laura Stapleton, however, does it by choice. This is the first serial installment of the Oregon Trail Series and promises to be an interesting trip.

Unavoidable by Laura Stapleton is an intriguing start to a series that I enjoyed with its realistic characters and storyline. This was a tale that was easy to connect to. A short story that I read in a fury, wondering where we were headed.

Unavoidable opens with many possibilities. Peeked my curiosity.

Laura Stapleton's Oregon Trail series is one of my all-time favorites and this book may be my absolute favorite! Follow handsome, lovable but jaded Nick on his journey to finding love again.

Marie Warren is headed west with her husband and his twin sister on a wagon train. She's an admirable woman, a hard worker, and devoted to her family. But she yearns for more in her marriage than her husband is willing to give. Along the trail, she'll face danger and hard truths before she can find her happiness.

Sam Granville is the leader of the wagon train escorting families to Oregon Territory. When he's sent to fetch Marie at her husband's behest, he walks into a situation he's not expecting. From that moment on, Marie continues to charm and surprise him.

Unavoidable is a wonderful historical romance with memorable characters, set against a well-researched backdrop of the hardships of the pioneer life. The ending felt a bit rushed, but all in all, this is definitely remaining on my keeper shelf.

This prequel is a great treat to open the Oregon Trail series written by an author that has definitely put her research and knowledge into every word. You can picture the hardships and conditions of the time period and this teases you into wondering where the story will go from here. Cannot miss as a free read and hopefully you'll want to follow along and see the story unfold. Might even learn a few things along the way! Perfect sized lunch-time read - pick it up!

This is quick read for the readers to review the series ' The Oregon Trail'; Written by Laura Stapleton. This preview contains only four chapters not a complete story. I liked the idea of viewing the contents of the novel before buying the first book. This book is free but it gives a good overview of the series, and builds some of the characters and begins building a plot for the next book.

Might be good, might be bad.

6 or 7 pages? Really? Not enough of a story to tell what this book may be. I need at least a chapter before I can tell.

Teaser

This is quite good writing and maybe a good story in the making but it is in no way a book, but is just a teaser

Very short book or a long story. More books in the series but will check out their length, will not buy if this short.

For as little as there was to read, it could have just been a prologue to the first story.
