The Styles’ family is about to be sucked into a whirlwind.

Reverend Edwin Styles is a good man, but he is totally unprepared for the spiritual warfare that is about to overwhelm him and his family. He doesn’t believe in demons or warlocks, and he only theoretically believes in angels. But his ignorance of spiritual warfare won’t shield him from being chosen by God for a mission so critical that the angel who commanded the forces at The Battle of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, the angel known as The Sword of the Lord, has been assigned to help him. And Edwin will need all the help this famed warrior angel has to offer. For the kingdom of darkness has assigned the Mighty Bashnar, one of its most ruthless demons and cunning military strategists, to thwart God’s plan and to destroy this man of God. He will soon learn from painful experience why this cruel warrior spirit was granted the title, Mighty.

Edwin's wife, Elizabeth, is a Christian, but she’s not passionate about the Lord or His work. What she is passionate about is her good-looking husband, Edwin. Everything is lovely until the Mighty Bashnar attacks her husband and revives a shameful weakness from his past that shuts down their love life. But Elizabeth isn’t the longsuffering type. She’s going to get her needs met one way or the other.

Sharon is the perfect Christian daughter. A teenager whose wisdom and devotion to God far surpasses her fifteen years. She’s the spiritual anchor of the family—until a relentless witchcraft spirit orchestrates a devastating betrayal and assault that shakes her faith to its core, perhaps beyond repair.

And for all this, Hell’s fury is not satisfied. Only total destruction of the Styles’ family is acceptable.

But is the Mighty Bashnar as strong as he thinks he is? Or will he discover that “God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty”? (1 Corinthians 1:27)

Excellent story on spiritual warfare! Fast paced with wonderful characters, I had trouble putting this book down. Read it in 2 sittings. Reminded me of Frank Peretti's work in Piercing the Darkness. I have already pre-ordered the sequel. Highly recommended!

This is a first time read by this author, Eric M. Hill and I trully enjoyed this books tremendously. This is a Christian fiction based around end-times and the spiritual angels and demons that plague humans and how to conquer them through God.

I was totally engrossed in this book when I first started and it was definitely hard for me to put it down. I read it in two days and came away very pleased with the story, the plot, the action and the way the story was written. This is a three-book series and I have started on the second.

Whatever happens in this world one truth remains even though we can not see it. There is a war happening in the spiritual realm between angels and demons and they influence what we do, think and say on a daily basis without even realizing it. For a believer in Jesus, we know that our most powerful weapon is the Word of God and prayer, yet we fail to see how these two impact the invisible world that can make all the difference in our lives. Spiritual warfare fiction has long been a favorite of mine since first reading Frank Peretti's This Present Darkness and Piercing the Darkness and seeing the overlap between the physical and spiritual world and how we can impact them for good or for evil.

I am so thrilled to offer you another unique find of mine recently and that is Eric M. Hill's newest series of books, The Fire Series and with the first novel Bones of Fire. If you loved Peretti's, you'll feel right at home here with this one. If you are not a believer of Christ, then you will simply chalk this book off to another fantasy series, but I pray that that will not be the case and you will dig a little deeper in your faith and discover a world that exists to the unseen eye that influences us to act and do things we may not even consider.

Edwin Styles is the pastor over a small church within the heart of Atlanta and one he was more than comfortable with as his congregation and it's members had fallen into the same routine of sorts lately so they weren't really experiencing any real growth within the church but it maintain a level of profitability that kept the board members content. No need to change the ways things were going. When they agreed to bring on Jonathan Banks as a speaker they were not concerned at all that anything would happen, but that was all the spark that would be needed to not only create a stir within the church community but begin the spiritual battle that would divide more than church members but family households as well.

Jonathan Banks, was a well renown missionary and had traveled the world over multiple times but was a truly dedicated man of God. A modern day Paul if you will who believed that it was his job to shine the light into the dark places and bring spiritual apathy out of the churches when called. It was just that calling he felt that God has placed upon him when agreed to speak at the church and one that would set the stage for a revival that would rock the nation beginning in Atlanta first. When he spoke that night, not only did he bring miraculous healings to the church members who came to hear him but to those who rallied to the event because of what they had heard. Jonathan would point out to Edwin that what he was doing was impacting the kingdom of darkness more than the kingdom of light by believing the miracles and the power of prayer was simply something from the Bible but not anything people did any more of.

It will be the war that will claim more than one life of those in the community as the battle of good and evil begins to wage war in the world the humans can not see but can impact. It seems that Edwin was gearing all his messages to what the board members and church wanted to hear for fear of offending anyone so all his messages revolved around what was a positive message and very reminiscent of the church of Laodicea from the Bible. But is it too late to change old patterns or is this simply another church the enemy will claim as a trophy for his wall of shame?

I received Bones of Fire by Eric M. Hill compliments of SunHill Publishers for my honest review. I did not receive any monetary compensation aside from a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest and personal evaluation. Whenever I read books like this one I am reminded how little we do prayer as individuals and as churches at time. What a difference it makes in the world we cannot see but often times impacts us. "A tablespoon of prayer was more powerful than man's atomic bomb." "Real revival brings people face to face with the holiness of God. It penetrates the darkness of sin and cuts away our perversions." There are so many take aways from this book as a Christian, it has renewed the bones of fire within myself. No longer will I take for granted the ability to pray for my family and friends, community and the government. This is what is lacking in the world today because our answer will not come from picking another worthy president but in returning back to the God who is the able to do all things in this world. Truly an eye opener to anyone who wants to know what is really going on behind that argument that you are having in your home. I would rate this one a 5 out of 5 stars and have already started on the sequel Trial by Fire, which is the second book in the series.

Fantastic read! Spiritual Warfare is real & all around us. Eric M Hill does a fabulous job of showing our lives are in a constant battle with GOD & satan. Demons fighting for the souls of none Christians & on the backs of the children of GOD to try & keep us down from serving the LORD. I see churches today that are dead but their arms are lifted high. The preachers are not truly teaching GOD’s Word! People go to church every Sunday to hear the word but then they don’t open their books during the week. They’re being fed deluded truth and they would know this fact if they would open the Word of GOD for themselves. Until we take responsibility for our own learning and reading the Word of GOD, instead of just listening to dead blind preachers, Christians will never know the full blessings of the Lord.
This book exposes those truths and how revival can change a church. This is a fabulous book. It took me a long time to read it because I had Covid and I just could not read during that time. I was so sick but I’m on to book 2, and I think Mr. Hill for listening to GOD in his writings. There are definitely too many Edwin styles in churches today. Let’s pray that all eyes are open.

READ THIS BEFORE READING!!!! THIS BOOK IS NOT FOR CHILDREN OR THOSE WHO ARE OBLIVIOUS TO SATANIC RITUALS!!!!

I was not spiritually ready for this book. Some of the scenes are very... unguarded. One wife was trying to get her husband to have sex with her and he wouldn't so she got mad. One poor girl's father is a Satanist who rapes her all the time (though so far, there are no scenes with that) and there's a Satanic ceremony that really disturbed me. The poor girl got drugged, stripped, and laid on an altar. Then Satanic priests drank goat's blood mixed with their's and everyone striped and sat around like it was a party. Don't get me wrong, this book is an awesome view on spiritual warfare that will really make you think about your Christian life or lack thereof; however, I would not recommend this for the faint of heart. I will continue reading this book when I am ready for that stuff, but as of now, I can't.

I Wanted To Love This Book

I love well written spiritual warfare books
.They tell an important part of the Christian life that many don't understand or believe in. This novel had a great premise but the author was all over the place in the storytelling, much was quite "cheesy" in many places. Events were too conveniently placed into the storyline without explanation. I kept reading because I wanted to know how it all turned out. If I were to recommend this book to non believed or new Christian, I'm afraid they would find it all too contrived and a bit laughable.

Amazing book on spiritual warfare! This book gets you praying and praising Almighty God! Wow! What an amazing read! There is so much truth in this book. For truly according to Ephesians 6:12 KJV "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places". All glory to Christ Jesus for victory, for He has overcome the world! I recommend this book.

Surprising to me how much I enjoyed this book!

I'm not much of a religious follower so this is not a normal read for me, but it looked interesting so I gave it a try. I have already downloaded the next in the series. Which describes how much I enjoyed this book. Kept me guessing until the end. So even if you think this is of no interest to you, but you enjoy reading well written captivating stories give it a shot. I'm willing to bet you will be surprised as well!

What a great story! In the same vein as Frank Peretti, this story challenges the modern-day Christian about their ideas about the Lord and the Devil. Full of suspense, this spiritual warfare story causes the reader to walk away with a lot to chew on. Read it and it will effect you--what will you do with what you learn? An excellent buy!

Gripping!

This book was wonderful! I read it last but wish I would have read it first! Such wonderful description of spiritual warfare!! I liked how the author, Eric M. Hill shows a progression from darkness to light. Jonathan was truly a servant of God. Once again, real down to earth, realistic experiences that one can relate to.

Bones of Fire

This book was very interesting, to say the least, we as humans believe the lies the enemy tell us or either we as human misinterpret what the bible really says. We don't study the bible for ourselves, we rely on others to tell us what it says, when it all boils down that God truly loves all of us no matter what we've done or think we've done.

Loved it!

This is the first book I’ve read by this author, but definitely not the last. Characterization was deep, the plot really moved along, and I gained a whole new perspective of Holy warfare.

Great Book

I really enjoyed this book. I've read it at least twice. Though it's fiction, it helps paint a picture of spiritual warfare, God's love, mercy, and grace, and it demonstrates the power of prayer.

Story idea is great. I love seeing all the perspectives: human, angel and demon. I was hoping for something like Peretti’s This Present Darkness and it was similar. This just needs some better editing and it would be really good. I will try the next one to see if the editing was improved.

Bones of Fire

Wow. This is so powerful. I liked the way Mr. Hill gives a picture of what the spiritual warfare that goes on around us may look like. It may not be accurate or the actual occurrences of God.

Revival , bold preachers, and hypocrites. Believers and unbelievers. This has them all. The story of God and his timing and perfection is indeed worth reading.

Intriguing story line along the lines of Frank Peretti's "This Present Darkness." The writing is more YA with a few rough transitions, but a good read.

This was an amazing read. It reveals how the battle of angels and demons can protect and attack those who believe or disbelieve in Jesus Christ.
