“Until You Can’t Run” A twisted tale of obsession, betrayal, and the terrifying line between love and possession.
Alex and Melanie were inseparable—the perfect best friends, always side by side, always in sync. Everyone envied their bond. But when Melanie starts to fall for someone else, the balance shifts... and something inside Alex begins to rot.
Then comes Henry. Smiling too much. Talking too close. Looking at Melanie as if she belonged to him. Alex saw it all. He counted the seconds she laughed at Henry’s jokes. Measured every inch she moved away from him.
After their first date, Melanie gets a strange call from Henry. His voice is shaky. He says something’s wrong with Alex. Then the line goes dead.
What begins as jealousy curdles into obsession. What was once friendship twists into a haunting, relentless fixation. Alex isn’t losing Melanie. He’s reclaiming what was always his—piece by piece, lie by lie, life by life.
“I don’t want to hurt anyone, Mel. But if that’s what it takes for you to see my love for you... I will.”
“I used to think he’d do anything for me. I didn’t know how far ‘anything’ really went.”
She can run. But Alex was never the kind of boy you could run from.
Needs to be reworked, the writing style need to be updated with grammar mistakes and over use of the same sentence in the same paragraph . But it had a good plot line. Not a smut romance, more like a twisted psychopath.
This could have easily been a five star read, however, you can clearly tell that the authors first language is not English. I had to stop a lot in the story to try to determine the word. She actually meant when she said something else or the setup of a sentence or changing improper slang to something that made sense. Every time I had to do that, it took me out of the story so that part was hard to wrap my mind around. Then, as soon as I get back into the story, another area would pop up with words that didn’t make sense. After I got over all of that, this story was dark AF. Definitely a psychological thriller! There is no romance in here at all whatsoever. This book was a full on mind F! Hands-down, Alex had a lot of of the traits of our possessive obsessive look at her and iview vibes going, but he took that to the 10th degree where he was actually hurting our heroin instead of protecting her and looking out for her. Melanie was traumatized, terrorized, and tricked, almost all of her life by Alex and his antics. There were red flags all over the place, but for some reason, she didn’t see them. Everyone around her seemed to see them, though, some people commented on it, and others just turned a blind eye, but she was aware of how weird it was for how close they were and how Alex wouldn’t allow her to have any other friends. This story ended up spanning 10 years and Boy would a 10 year roller coaster ride it was. I think part of the sad part of this story is it’s real. This is actually a situation that can easily happen and probably has happened somewhere in this world many times over. It’s sad but the style stalker stories unfortunately are true. All in all, this new to me Author with her debut book really stuck it to me. The story will stay in my mind rent free for a long time. It ended on a very sad note, but I guess you can say that our heroine made it out on the other side? But I’m just not too sure. This is definitely not a book to read if you’re not in a good head space, because the triggers are intense and real, and not danced around at all. I was taken aback by how this story culminated and ended. For some reason, I don’t see it coming the way it did and still managed to feel sorry for our H (or should I say V for villain)? I’ll be impatiently waiting for the next book by Nourin Ali, I just hope that she has someone proof read it whose first language is English and helps her hammer out the details that will have the story to flowing better.
I just want to clarify that this is not a romance book!!!
This book was not for me. I didn’t like Alex. I didn’t like the way he treated Melanie. He was controlling, obsessive, and possessive. Not in a good way. He expected her to tell him everything while he told her absolutely nothing. He was scary. Like you never knew if he was actually gonna hurt her or not. He is type to be “if I can’t have her no one can.” Sometimes I would like that vibe but not from him. And let’s not forget the names he called her when she would talk to another guy. I don’t even think Alex actually loved her but more as an object that was his to have. Alex just didn’t do it for me. He was just a straight up abusive psychopath. This does not have a happy ending by the way. At least not between the MMC and FMC.
If you wanna read about a lovable psychopath then I recommend Such a good guy by Kate Raven
🚨Minor Spoiler🚨 I also didn’t like that he slept with other people during the 5 years they were apart. He said he did it because they look like her but if he was really obsessed with her as he says he was he wouldn’t have touched anyone else.
omg. i love this book and as much as i hated alex i wish we couldve got to see what was actually wrong with him mentally but mel was so strong for that and after everything alex put her through i think the grape scene was the final straw for her and it came together so beautifully. i cant lie i wanted to see what would have happened with lelia and ron but im glad he went to jail. absolute 5 love this
