Twin Reasoning

Rate this book
Sloan Smith built a wall around his broken heart. After his ex-girlfriend crushed him, he threw himself into the only thing that mattered: his future.

Sloan’s life consisted of two things: the gym and sleep. The discipline it took to build his physique and push himself further than ever was worth it. Until his twin brother Sebastian presented him with a job, he couldn’t refuse. The money he would make with Divine Services would help him enter as many Body Building competitions as he could and help him reach his goal of being on stage in Vegas, sooner.

Katelynn Ashton, the only girl he cared about, couldn’t have chosen a worse time to admit her feelings for him. No matter how Sloan felt about her, he wouldn’t start a relationship with her while he was a Pool Boy.

Some elements were fabulous but it had potential to be more!
Well, this is not an easy book to review as I felt as if it was a book of two halves. The first half of which I found I had to work hard to keep my attention from wavering in.
The story was one that while not entirely beyond the realms of possibility, was one that fictionally I had only envisaged in the realms of adult entertainment movies.
Twin brothers, Sebastian and Sloan were both desperate to make money to fuel their dreams, Sebastian’s was to move east and pursue his ambition of being a race car driver and Sloan after the heartbreak of discovering his girlfriend was cheating on him, was determined to carve a career in body building.
The means to making money was to join Devine Services, a legit Pool cleaning service that offered extras, of course they did! The guys offered the extra’s ( lovely terminology) and extra’s took on the guise of whatever other services these lonely women were prepared to pay for.
You, see what I am saying about the adult entertainment industry.
Sebastian took to the job like a duck to water a quickly amassed his fortune, Sloan was less willing to dip his toe into the murky pool of extras, but eventually he picked up a few extra tasks along the way.
I really struggled with Sloan and his logic, I found his reasoning was misconstrued and that his method of self-protection was cruel to those around him. He knew Katelyn was keen on him and he had strong feelings for her yet he was not prepared to commit to her 100% percent but he continued to have liaisons with his clients – just all a bit have my cake and eat it to me and he used his past hurt to justify what I thought was a completely selfish attitude.
I liked Sebastian though, he was quite cut and dry – he never hid what he was doing, he made sure that he was completely honest with the one person other than Sloan that had a major part to play in his life – Tegan.
Tegan had been an on-off no strings partner for some time but when push came to shove, he knew that she was his and before he headed out east he was determined that they would have their relationship on a more formal setting.
I was surprised that the author chose to portray Tegan, someone that I thought was a strong independent woman in this light, supporting a partner is one thing but accepting that the man you loves is having sex with other women for money is something that I was not fully prepared for, I fully understand the old adage each to their own but it is a scenario that I actually found slightly distasteful.
But anyway back to the storyline, so with girlfriend status suitably established Sebastian heads off to find his fortune with the express intension of being back soon to collect his woman.
Life dealt all of them the most incredibly cruel blow but from every dark cloud comes a ray of hope and they got their ray of hope, big time!
The last quarter of the book really makes up for the first three quarters, it gave me the story that I was really hoping for all along, it gave me real people in real situations that I could relate and associate with.
The relationships that are forged and established towards the end of the book are worth the read itself.
As strange as this may seem but I would ask for a little less narrative in book two, I like to be immersed in the story but I don’t like reading words that are adding no value to the story they are trying to tell me, sometimes less definitely is more.

3.5 to 4 Stars!

I am really torn when writing this review. I’m going to be honest and say that in the beginning I was struggling with some parts of the storyline. Sloan and Sebastian are twins and are working towards obtaining their dreams. Sloan wants to become a body builder and enter Mr. Olympia competitions, and Sebastian dreams about becoming a race car driver. In order to make some extra money, they both get a job with Devine Services as pool boys. However, the services they provide entail more than just cleaning pools.

Sloan is also recovering from a broken heart. So to protect himself, he avoids any relationship with every girl. Although, the one girl that has his attention is Katelyn, but he feels that she deserves more than someone like him. He’s broken and not ready to give 100% to her, especially with the job he has, but Katelyn doesn’t care and understands that he is working for what he wants.

Sebastian has been seeing Tegan off and on as a booty call, but eventually he starts to have feelings for her and wants their relationship to be permanent. Before making it official, Bash tells Tegan what he does for a living and what is expected of him outside of cleaning pools. Tegan decides that she is ok with it because of how much she loves him.

This is the part that I was struggling with. I know that this is a book, and that it is not real, but…I like when stories make you feel like they are real. You connect with the characters and feel what they feel. I didn’t get that from this. First off, what girl in their right mind would be ok with their boyfriends sleeping with other women and then coming home to them? Yes, I know, they are working for their dreams. But, really?? It just showed lack of respect for themselves for condoning it. I also had a hard time connecting with these characters at times because of the way they talked. Some of the stuff they would say or the way they would act, seemed just a little childish. I found myself struggling to continue, but I’m happy I did!

76% into the story there's a change of events and that’s when I was able to get into it. The characters started changing and the storyline became stronger. I even got a little emotional and in the beginning I never thought that would happen. It also had a totally different ending in my head after new circumstances came about. I really thought two certain characters would end up together but I was wrong! The last 20% of the story is what pulled me in, and has me looking forward to reading what comes next in Book 2 of the Pool Boys Series. I am interested in seeing how the story unfolds, and I am hoping to keep the connection with the characters!

Review done for Hooked on Books

4 out of 5 stars

Sloan and Sebastian Smith are twin brothers who are trying to establish careers. Sloan wants to compete as a body builder and Bash wants to race cars.

To accomplish their goals, they both become escorts. The money is great but having a relationship with the women they love at the same time is near impossible.

Sloan has been through a bad breakup and feels too damaged to move ahead with Katelynn. She would do anything for him but he can’t be with her until he figures out how to heal himself.

Bash has found the love of his life in Teegan. She is everything he could of ever imagined. Together they are perfect.

This book started out pretty slow to me. However the story did pick up and the author hits you with a major bombshell that had the tears pouring from my eyes. I never saw that one coming.

Some parts I found to be kind of spotty and all over the place. There seemed to be some gaps in the story that I wish the author would have put more detail into.

Overall this was a good book and I would recommend it to read.

After a bad breakup Sloan has built up walls around his heart to protect himself. He has feelings for Katelynn, but refuses to pursue them because he is broken and wants to be able to give her himself whole. He and his brother Sebastian are taking a new job as pool boys which entails a little more than cleaning pools. It also means being a companion to the women who own the pools. For Sloan this means getting enough money to travel for body building competitions.

Sebastian and Tegan have just made their relationship official and are in love. She knows about his job and understands that it is just to make money for his dreams. Sebastian is my favorite of the two brothers with his playful and sexy personality. My heart did hurt for Tegan as he continued to do that job while they were together though. I so loved their first date.

I give Twin Reasoning 4 hearts!

This story blew me away. i was not expecting it at all. I laughed, I cried, and I hated how stupid the guys could be. But we all know that they aren't the smartest people :) Sloan is the older twin and has some serious relationship issues. He wants to be a body builder on the stages of Mr Olympia. Sebashtian is looking for a way to get to his dreams of being a race car driver.
They begin working as pool boys for Devine Services. The money starts to come in and they are finally able to make their dreams come true. When tragedy strikes, the characters have to learn to cope and find the good in the bad.
This story was well written and worth the tears.
I cant wait to read the rest of the series.

4 Emotional Stars

I was given a copy of this book for an honest review.

What I liked about this book was how it was written and focused on the male characters.
I enjoyed reading from the male twins perspective, and how different yet so similar they are & that No Matter What they were always there for each other.
There is a lot more to this story than just Pool boy/escorts. Its definitely a roller coaster of emotions from Sloan, Bash, Katelynn & Tegan.
I cried a lot in this book, also had few laughs & I cant wait to read the rest of the series.
Overall was an enjoyable experience and will definitely will be reading future books from Dee Avila

Twin Reasoning by Dee Avila is a great story! I loved the characters and the friendships they have. I love how they support each other no matter what they are going through and understand each other in each of their problems. I would love to see more from this author! I feel there could be a little more development of the characters and their backgrounds, but there is more to come in the series. Overall, a great story with a great character base! I give this book 3.5 stars out of 5.

This book was so much more then I expected!! I laughed, I cried, I wanted to jump through the book and punch the boys, but most of all I wanted to hold each one of them as I felt their pain through the story!! I fell in love with every character in this book ... Bash, Sloan, Katelynn, Tegan, even Kyle! This story is full of emotion and had an amazing storyline!! This book is so much more then a story about pool boys/escorts and believe me you will not be disappointed!!
