This book may be short, but it delivers quite a punch! I am surprised by how I was immediately drawn into the story and how quickly I started developing an interest in the lives of the characters.
When I began Unspoken, I thought it would be a typical lonely girl romance. I am so happy I was wrong!!! Yes, there is romance, but I loved how mystery, comedy, and spunk are also intertwined in this novella. I also loved that the characters weren't boring - they were funny, smart, determined, insecure, vibrant, independent, damaged, resilient, mysterious, bad, vulnerable, resourceful, etc. I enjoyed the multiple storylines that were developing in this story as well. The main character, Jennifer, isn't just looking for romantical love and acceptance, she is also looking for acceptance and love from her dad. She is trying to mark her place in her dad's law firm and prove she is capable of doing a phenomenal job. She is searching for answers to a case she is working on and trying to learn the truth about the man she is attracted to. She is seemingly trying to find the confidence to move on from a tragic event in her past and allow herself to love and be loved. Jennifer is trying to live life the best she can.
Even though I think this is an amazing story, I am disappointed by all the grammatical and word errors in this novella that should have been caught by a proofreader.
Unspoken is obviously the first book in a series and Lexy Beck does an incredible job planting the storyline seeds. There are so many layers to this story and to the characters that I can't wait to read more and peel away each layer to find out what truths or secrets will be revealed next!
It was one of these books Amazon lets you download for free or for a buck - so I had no idea what I would find. The story turned out to be pretty decent, although with some obvious clichés (and, yes, you can still have a passable romance novel without too many of those); so, it's interesting enough, and I will probably continue to part 2.
I wanted to love this book, hell I started out loving it, but the book just ends right in the middle. I HATE THAT! I hate how you take 1 book and make it 2 or 3, this is not a novella IT IS A BOOK! Just take the time to finish it out and start the next. Every writer has their own style I know this, you know this, but ending the book in the middle isn't a good start.
I liked Jennifer's character. Her and her father have a difficult relationship that you can feel at the very beginning. She has been hurt by an ex (even though we never really find out what happened there) and has a hard time trusting people, which leads her to study profiling in college (even though her father hated the idea). She meets Cain and starts to really like him. Sleeps with him, and then finds out he is lying about things and who he is.
And then it just ends. Like right in the middle of a scene, no warning, no signs, just done. Ended. UGH!!!!!! HORRIBLE! Makes me not want to even read the next book now. To tell the truth I'm so pissed off by it that I don't want to even start another one of the authors!
Fortunately for me I think all the books are out and on kindle unlimited. I will at least read the next book and see what I think. I agree with people who don't like these short stories chopped up into 10 books, so I ALWAYS check for # of pages before I buy.
I'm undecided about this book because of the issues I found that took away from the story. First, I really didn't understand what the job is that this law office is doing. It became a little clearer at the end, but still not sure. Next are a few things that I had to go back and re-read cause I thought I missed something - she's getting ready for her date, admiring her sexy underwear in a mirror and then getting in her car. I'm assuming she got dressed! Then at the restaurant she is admiring Cain's black suit and 2 paragraphs later she is admiring his grey suit. Nit picky I know.... I can live with the occasional missing word, space or misspelling but these mistakes drive me crazy. Maybe I should be an editor or proof reader!!
This book is about a daughter of a powerful attorney, that had her heart broken in college so trusting another man is difficult. As she is in the midst of a case she meets a man and they begin a relationship where it's only first names, when his identity is made clear she feels betrayed.
This book is a bit confusing to follow like who are they actually after. But it's intriguing and makes you wanna keep reading to unravel it and I'm sure it will all make sense. Jennifer ends up seeing this guy named Cain but turns out to be trey. He's obviously hiding something. He got a text from arena which is online dating site but there is something phony about it all. Hmm so confusing.

Read parts 1 and 2 so far. I agree with other reviewers who say that this should be one standalone instead of split into 3 tiny serials. This is a quick and entertaining read, but I'm hesitant to pay $2.98 for the 3rd book in the series.
I kind of figured that was gonna be him it seemed so obvious to me. The way it described her just missing out on big shot boss and meeting him. And her running into him in the elevator I just thought she may have been smart enough to put two and two together.
What a great start. This is going to be an amazing series. Just when Jennifer thinks everything is going great with her new found lover Cain, she realizes that things are not as great as she thought they were. I can't wait to see what is in store for Jennifer and Cain.
It seems to me that if a person reads people for an investigator she really didn't do her homework. I think it's quite obvious who Cain is and would be for her as well. The storyline itself is good. Just needs to be more realistic.
This is a great book and easy read I like the story and characters the story moves along and keeps you interested. Can't wait to read the rest of the story
