FIGHTING FOR JUSTICE
The story is an addition to the series, Lone Star Wolf Rangers. It will revolve around five men, all wolf-shifters, all former military. The men, Zane ‘Rush’ Rushton, Dalton Calhoun, Navy SEAL, Gideon Bonham, Marine Raider, Deacon Winslow, Marine Force Recon, and Gage Remington, SOAR Night Stalker, all recruited by the Governor of Texas and made Rangers.
“Five men with no family. Five men who bled for this country and came back to nothing but ghosts.”
“We need something different. Something stronger. Something that doesn’t play by the rules. You’ll be Rangers. Officially, you’re Company W—an experimental unit focused on borderland crimes. Unofficially? You’re ghosts. You answer only to me.” Texas Governor
Galveston, Texas, Maggie Tate, owner of Sea Salt & Sugar Bakery, is plagued with multiple mishaps, order discrepancies, issues with her equipment, and a revolving door of employees, and now, Kyle, her assistant baker, has left, leaving her a note. When Maggie shares her problems with her best friend, Kari Bonham, she never expects Gideon Bonham to show up. While she tries to ignore his presence, she is relieved to have him and his protection.
“Each time I glance at my staff, the words echo—unfamiliar faces, different vendors, a revolving door. It isn’t just gossip.”
Gideon is part of the special unit of Rangers, known as Company W. When he learns of all the issues Maggie is having, he drops everything to head to her location in Galveston and investigate. It is apparent that something underhanded is taking place, and he plans on finding out who and why.
The story has the good, the bad, and the evil in people. It is part mystery with romantic suspense, along with solving crimes and righting wrongs.
Businesses closing all around Maggie is key that more is in play, and Company W Rangers will be working behind the scenes to uncover who, what, why, when, and where. The story is multi-layered, with the mystery in the wharf area near Maggie, and all she has endured. It is also two people, Gideon and Maggie, who have known each other for years, are secretly in love with one another, and are now working together, sharing her loft, and allowing their relationship to progress. The chemistry between them sizzles, and Gideon knows she is his mate, but he wants to be honest with her, telling her he is a wolf-shifter, something she accepts and even embraces.
As a reader, I was immersed in the character, their interactions, and the storyline as it unfolded. It was a page-turner. I always cheer when good wins over evil—and yes, evil does get its comeuppance. But it is even better when two people find love. The next story has an intro at the end of this story—so be ready for Deacon.
