I cannot believe that an incomplete fanfic is on Goodreads, but my my am I glad! This is my favorite fanfiction of all time from my favorite author.
The characterization of this harry potter fanfic is on a level of its own.
Lily Evans' narrative is a thing of beauty and James Potter is as much of a heartthrob as any other YA male lead. Even more so. Such writing honestly deserves so much more appreciation than it usually gets.
And although this fic has not been updated in ages, it is a work of art. The writing keeps calling to you; begging to be read time and again. It is impossible to not get attached to the characters; characters who have only been skimmed over in the actual Harry Potter novels. I would recommend it to anyone and everyone who wants to travel back into that land of magic again. Only this time, you would need to carry with you a little more patience as you wait for the story to be updated.

Incidentally, this story is just as brilliant on the 3rd read as it is on the first.

This comes second to The Life and Times for me, but oh my, oh my, oh my! I absolutely, completely and utterly adore this! Like The Life and Times, I pretty much read this once a year and it NEVER GETS OLD!!
This is such a gem of a book, it is addictive, laugh out loud funny and THE TENSION (nb. I love me some tension!) This is my favourite kind of romance, I actually can't think of a single actual book that contains romance that I genuinely love, like this one does.
It is so easy to read and is one of my favourite books (I know it's fanfic) of ALL TIME.

this is actually one of the best things i’ve ever read. the characters and plot is amazing and it’s also so funny and heartwarming. every few years i think about this fanfiction and reread it, i am always reminded how wonderful it is. i will honestly wait forever for it to be updated <3

Omg an unfinished fanfic is on goodreads?! But yay! Because this thing was LOOONG and I read it for many, many days and I wanted to "get credit" for my reading and also I really liked it. I'd never read Lily/James fiction before but this made me love the characters. Fanfic is the only place to read much about the Marauders-era Hogwarts and Lily & James' relationship. This is an amazing labor of love and I'm so glad I found it and read it. I'm looking forward to more, some day.

BEE, WHY DO YOU HATE ME?? IT'S BEEN 7 BLOODY YEARS SINCE THE LAST UPDATE!!!! This quarantine made me re-read Commentarius for the 8748598474897 time, and now I'm just DESPERATE. I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH MY LIFE. I NEED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS NEXT. I NEED JILY SMUT. I NEED MORE INFO ON MARLEY/SNOGGER CASE (which we all know who he is,btw. SO GOOD).

I really, really enjoyed this. It took me back to being really young and reading The Princess Diaries. It also took me back to being 17.
I just wish that the last chapter was out. If there was some closure to the story it would have 5 stars. But for now, I am left wondering.

There aren't many fics that are worth also being on Goodreads. I only have 3 saved here, and I got absolutely hooked on this one. Characterization is brilliant, and even if the rythm is a little off at times, it's indeniably a very, very entertaining read.

⤅ This is the BEST fanfiction I have ever read, bar none.
After almost six years of reviewing there aren't very many types of reviews I haven't written, but the one thing I've always stayed away from is writing 'official' Goodreads reviews of fanfiction. I know plenty of my friends have, especially for Dramiones, but somehow I just always felt like fanfictions weren't 'legitimate' enough to deserve proper Goodreads reviews.
Everyone has to know how brilliant this story is, though. It's a Harry Potter ship, James x Lily, where Lily narrates the events of her seventh year in a Bridget Jones's Diary/Princess Diaries/Angus, Thongs, and Full-Frontal Snogging style. (If you haven't heard of the last one, it's like the British version of Princess Diaries, and utterly hilarious). I am kind of in shock when I realise that the author Bee was in secondary school when she first started plotting and writing this story out. The quality is MILES better than thousands of traditionally published books. Commentarius is well-written, densely plotted, emotionally complex, and most importantly utterly hilarious. The dialogue is SO on point it leaves me reeling. Every single character is so incredibly developed, especially James and Lily themselves, that they put real people to shame.
The fly in the ointment is that this story hasn't been updated since 2013. It's already 700,000 words long but only at around the halfway point. Though Bee is still technically active on her Tumblr, she admits she hasn't worked on this story for a while, and the fact that she uploaded 32 chapters in a six-year period but then there's been nothing for 11 years is undeniably an awful sign. Part of me has resigned myself to the probability that we're just never going to get an end to the story, never going to know what James's tattoo is or what stunt he pulled with Saunders or what Lily's comment meant to him or why she's in the Hospital Wing or ANYTHING.
And then... what if she does upload a new chapter, and it's not as good???. 11 years is a long time. What if James loses his incredible edge, or the dialogue isn't as snappy? These are admittedly secondary concerns to my fear that one of us is going to die before the story is finished. Life's only so long. But it would be horrible to have waited over a decade (perhaps two decades) for a new chapter, only not to enjoy it.
Still, I can't recommend this fanfiction highly enough. To paraphrase Tennyson, better to have loved an unfinished story than never to have loved at all...

I`m so curious about what actually happened to Lily... and all the secrets are really intriguing (but it doesn`t look like we are getting any answers soon..)... and although characters are really great, they just aren`t Lily and James as I imagine them (I personally don`t think that the inspiration with Princess Diary was the luckiest of decisions..)...but the chapter 25 was great - Lily and Sirius doing some marauding business together :-) ...also there was this bit about magical Paris, which gave rise to some curious questions about this place in my mind (is there a street similar to Diagon Alley in Paris? or something different?)...

I cant believe that my favorite book is a hp marauders fanfic that is longer than the entire hp series and is still unfinished 😭😭😭😭 and it’s fucking hilarious never fails to make me laugh. I LOVE JAMESSS 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻 and Lily is the best written in this book tbh. Their banter and the angst AND THE ROOM OF REQUIREMENT SCENE >>>>>(and I 💗 Sirius)
