Just when things were going wonderful, someone had the nerve to start stalking Danielle. But that’s not what appalls Danielle the most, what really appalls her is that Malcolm lied about the identity of this certain someone. So now, just when Danielle was on the right track in life, she may have an attempted murder rap hanging over her head … if it’s not one thing, it’s another.
But don't worry, Malcolm is best when the going is tough. Watch him work.
Best book I've read so far this year! Shannon Dianne is an amazing writer. Her unique writting style pulls you in and takes you for a wild ride. The first 60/70 pages had me in tears and I almost pee'd myself laughing. Dianne's writting style had various characters speaking directly to the reader at times making me feel apart of the story. The epilogue was fan-fucking-tastic!!! Everyone got there HEA....well almost everyone....karma is a bitch! lol!!! Shannon Dianne has just stolen the #1 spot on my list of favorite authors.
This book is smartly written with developed characters, good dialogue, and good pacing. I was disappointed in the ending because the female lead, nicknamed "Red" due to her hair color, seemed to become selfish, vengeful, and unforgiving. I went from liking her to loathing Red. In the end, she becomes the same type of person that once victimized her.
The suspense plot was interesting for a few pages but went on too long, it just didn't hold my interest. The issues creating the suspense were really unimportant and few people would blink twice over a college photo or a romantic relationship that takes off during a separation or divorce.
I found that the hints of racism and classism interesting but underdeveloped.
This book was funnier then the first. I was chuckling throughout at the craziness that was going on. All the characters were making me laugh. It was like a soap opera with all the drama going on but such a good book.
OMG! Read all through the night, it was so good. I am still laughing about this book days later. Ms Diane I highly praise you, you took it to another level on this one I totally have a girl/author/crush on you. Love, love, love it. Rena is a true ride or die chick (mad props to her) we all need one of those people in our lives. Gosh, Malcolm (be still my heart!) that man loves him some Red...I am not mad at him; he gets her and accepts her for who she is. The contact high was hilarious, especially when Danny finally figured it out lmao! Loved the epilogue where we got to see how everyone was doing four years later, nice! I didn't feel sorry for Jasmine(hypocritical much!) I am a firm believer that people who live in glass houses shouldn't be carrying a pocketful of stones, now she quick to call Malcolm when her ish comes back to bite her in the you know what....Winnie is a badass, love her! Got no love for Jon or Lola, got a crush on Jacob; the extended family and friends just put this book over the top I wil totally recommend this book to anyone.:)
I literally cried laughing! I don't usually vocalize while I'm reading but Shannon had me laughing, yelling, saying "enh enh" while reading this book. The pair are my favorites! They go hand and hand and I love them. Sooo many feels reading this, lol. Red is a relatable character for me so I enjoyed seeing things through her eyes. I highly reccomend.
The first book was good, but this story was even better as it was more intricate with the players showing more emotion and humanity and lack thereof. It was addicting and I needed to read it from beginning to end. :). There were a few grammatical and mishaps of dates but so enjoyable. I am wondering what comes next.
Malcolm,Red,Winnie (a complete badass), Jacob, Rena, Cadence and Lola are forces to be reckoned with. The things that people do for love and power are really crazy. I loved the rehashing of events from the first story to segue into the beginning of the second book but told from a different characters point of view. It gave different view points and allowed us to see that things aren't always so clear or black and white and hints to why people do what they do.
Update: As promised here is my series review (first two books only). It's long and involving so I posted it to my blog. You can find it here
I'm torn. It was pretty well written. A few typos here and there, but overall an intriguing read. It takes a kind of satirical take on race, sex, and economic status. But...for all the levity the first half of the book has (more than the 1st book in its entirety), it was an unpleasant read in many ways too. One I do not want to read again.
This series should really be titled When A Wicked Witch Wins
I'm not sure if the author is a feminist or poking fun at them but it seems that she's done a good job at presenting a story about a extremely flawed feminist who should lose everything and yet gains it all. That alone will have a certain number of people hate the book. So if you don't want a beautiful, insecure, strong, and absolutely hilarious villain to win, this isn't the series for you. I'm not sure what to classify this as since it involves a full range of characters. But I will say that the author has done her best to set her writing apart from the other romance and multicultural books out there. And for me it's working. In this book there are various subplots that all connect the dots into the grander scheme of things. And it's all placed inside of witty dialogue so that your brain doesn't get wrecked in the process. The author also does a good job at writing the story that gives enough information but does not force feed the reader. However, I see from some reviews that this has gotten her in trouble with some readers who think that the author is loaded with problems as somebody put it. Which was funny to me because the author mentions people having problems in her book. But I guess what Dianne wanted to do was create a buzz, whether good or bad and she's done that. She may be on to something here. Excellent job on this book.
Glad there was an early release was really looking forward to this book. The beginning dragged for me especially the psychotic episode when she got the contact high. That stuff must have been potent. However it didn't effect the people that was smoking it. Anyway after she finally got over it the story picked up. Malcolm has to be the most understanding man ever! To take care of a woman because her entitled family was more concerned about their reputation than about their daughter's well being was nothing less than heroic. However he still didn't get her the help she needed just threw money at the problem. I wasn't sure how it was going to end, but the twist and turns kept it interesting. Loved the epilogue especially because it ended with the characters' lives and not a fairytale.

I was a bit surprised how the conclusion to Red and Malcolm's stroy started. I was expecting more drama, which I got. What I wasn't expecting was the hilariousness I got . Too funny and really enjoyed the way the story was told. Parts were a little ridiculous but added to the storyline. Red and Rena's Themela and Louise road trip had me in stitches, Laura needed more than lithium and I loved the Winnie and Red's payback to the upstanding Queen's (Jasmine, Dena and even crazy Laura). Whoo - hoo to Malcolm with his Dutch-like qualities (Dutch from The President's Girlfriend - Dutch and Gina series by Mallory Monroe) - he did give the reporter a strong warning about referring to Nicky as his step-son. Kudos to Ms Dianne - a really good sequeal.
I am so in Love with the conclusion of Malcolm and Reds story. It was quite entertaining getting the thoughts from each character and I loved seeing everyone point of view of each situation. I love Malcolm he is to me the perfect man he could do no wrong and is the complete package. He loves Red with his heart and sole one could only dream in there life's time that they will encounter a love so strong and so complete what an amazing love story. I loved their journey and I love how Malcolm's love transformed Red because of him I like her now she is vivacious warm and passionate, no longer cold and alof.
Over is a must read. It was so wonderful that Shannon Dianne offered the book for pre-release read. I am so glad that I was able to stay up and get it. Over is HILARIOUS I spent so much time just laughing with the characters. The feelings that Malcolm and Danielle have for each other jumps off the pages. You feel invested in their relationship. Even though the title is Over you know before you get to page 2 that whatever happens the relationship between Malcolm and Danielle will continue. What you feel when you read this book is this relationship is complete everything else is just that everything else. I cannot wait to read more from Shannon Dianne.
I have mixed feelings about this one and I'll start by saying that it's a good story well written and full of humor which made a hard to put down book however I must say that I didn't quite like the Jasmine/ Jacob story and how it all went down that was a bummer but I loved Winnie she was awesome and great for Jacob, as for Jasmine she isn't your usual heroine is all I'm going to say about her. Oh and Jacob is a massive Jerk. Good Read
I was fortunate enough to be able to purchase an advanced copy of Over. I have already read the book twice. I am a new fan of stream of conscious writing and found this book to be as refreshing and clever as the first. While I have lots of questions ---I won't spoil it for those of you who are hungrily waiting for April 21st --- and with good cause too. Shannon Dianne is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors.
Was this book supposed to be funny? I laughed so hard through about 80% of the time. Red is never again in her whole life allowed to get high... ever! Ms. Dianne, you sure do know how to show and write a crazy person. I loved it. None of the characters blend together, everyone has their own personalities that again, I love. This world you build was a dang mess. I loved it! I wanna be a part of it!
I laughed, I was on the edge of my seat, I was angry, it had it all. It was a great ride I'm sorry "it's over." I loved how everything was revealed to you and just when you thought you knew everything you find out you really had no idea what was going on. I especially loved how two people had two different views for the same situation. I can't wait to see what the next book has in store for me.
I like the book. At first I could not get a grasp on what was going on. There was to many characters talking at once. It was hard to keep up. Eventually I could see where the storyline was going, so it turned out pretty good. Is there going to be a third part to this series? I would love to see how things turn out for Jasmine.
Still a lot of the drama like the first book but Red's personality has changed.
I know that Jasmine her former best friend was acting all snooty to her and everything and didn't like Malcolm to much but can you blame her with what happened in the past with Jacob (Malcolm's cousin) and Malcolm and the lies.
Gotta read part 3 now, it's supposedly Jasmine's story.
I like how the book started where it ended and didn't waste time repeating book one. I got a contact high just reading this book. I'm going to read it again when the official book is released. Go buy this book now. I love Winnie, she is the Latinate ride or die bitch
Simply phenomenal ! That is what this book is to me. The flow, Mac and Red, all the gang, so so wonderfully written. Ms. Dianne, this book is a home run. One of the BEST books I've read this year. Please keep writing, a new fan!
I love this story. Shannon Dianne is the bomb dot com. On to book 3. This is filled with drama, suspense, and love. I don't even know how to put into words...well you will not be disappointed. A recommend read.
Even better than book one. I didn't want it to end...loved everything about this book especially the epilogue. It continues the story not just give some random happily ever after. It was life. If you're not reading this series then you're missing out!
I have nothing bad to say about either books (1or 2). This was a great story line. The characters were believable and I found myself laughing out loud during the course of both books. I can't wait to read the 3rd book!!!!
