Facing a roomful of first-graders every day is easy for Grace, but the idea of falling in love terrifies her...
Grace Marshall believes in the power of love--for everyone but herself. When Brad's kisses make her knees weak, along with her self-control, she breaks it off. It was the right thing to do... So why does she feel so miserable?
Doctor Brad Gates is in love with Grace, has been since she first winked at him shortly after they met. The little dynamo is cute and fun and really loves life... but she's skittish where love's concerned. And it's driving him a little bit crazy.
Getting back together while avoiding the "L" word is a lot harder than Grace imagined... especially when Brad starts dating another doctor from work.
USA Today bestselling author Tamie Dearen has published more than twenty books, including The Best Girls Series and the Limitless Clean Billionaire Romance Series. Tamie believes real life is already full of enough heartache, so she gives her book-characters happily-ever-afters, no matter how difficult their paths.
Tamie Dearen lives in Texas with her incredibly romantic husband and two dogs. She hates dusting and exercising and loves anything musical or artistic. When she's not writing books, you might find her playing with her grandkids or drilling on someone's tooth.
I loved this one - and I'm a guy. Just quirky enough and silly enough, and really, really funny if a little unbelievable in places ... so what, if you're laughing? It pushed all the right buttons for me even if it was't perfect. A zany, delightful escape from the humdrum. Well done Ms Dearen!
This story had All the elements of the Best books that I’ve loved—quick, witty dialogue; fun-loving characters. However the events of the book were a bit far fetched and really if the characters would have talked the story would never have happened. There were also many different POVs that sometimes I lost interest in the minor characters POV. But the quick banter kept me turning the page and I am eager to read the next.
I haven't read the other books in this series (with the exception of the intro to the series "The Best Is Yet to Come: A Romantic Comedy (The Best Girls Book 0)") - I was initially concerned that it might be an issue jumping into book four over book one first but the read came to me by recommendation and I had the time so I wanted to get into it.
While there were some references to the other books (and likely some inside commentary that I missed from not reading them first) this is a very good story that stands on its own despite the character history that is likely there from prior books.
Grace, the lead "Best Girl" in this book is a quirky character; she lives life fully but works very hard to avoid complications (like serious relationships) and her efforts to avoid them become particularly complicated when she falls hard for Brad. Her efforts to end the relationship (because she feels too much for him) become lightly comical and the involvement of the ensemble characters (mostly family) to try to help out adds to the fun of the entire story.
Reading romantic comedies isn't my norm but I found this story engaging, the characters down to Earth, and the life situations very real so it was easy to get involved with the story and enjoy it.
I recommend "Best Foot Forward: A Romantic Comedy (The Best Girls Book 4)" by Tamie Dearen - four stars out of five.
3.5 This is a comedy of errors and misunderstandings between two people perfect for each other. Grace is a spunky, in control, first grade teacher who freaks out when Brad, the mature, nice guy, doctor she's been dating accidentally says he loves her. For Grace, no relationship goes into serious mode without her say-so.
And the mishaps, heartbreak, and comedy begin.
Brad's friends and Grace's family get involved, all trying to "help," and it's one step forward and two steps back. If Grace and Brad would just talk openly, it would've solved some problems. The climax is hilarious and the ending nice. A little too much talking at times - I skimmed through pages of back and forth. PG13 for passionate kissing and a question raised about a hook up. The two main characters have high morals, besides telling half truths. Overall, a lighthearted romantic comedy.
Best Foot Forward is the fourth book in the Best Girls Series by Tamie Dearen and goes back in time a little to share the story of Grace and Brad.
Grace never lets boys too close, because she has to protect her heart. So when Brad lets the "l word" slip, she's gone. But then she realizes she really was in love with him all along. True to Best Girl fashion (even though Grace is a Marshall, the girls have all adopted Best Dating Rules), Grace and Brad must fight through a comedy of miscommunication and diverted apologies.
I liked the diversion into the Marshall girls, and hope we get to see more of them. Marshall Law is almost as hilarious as the Best Dating Rules. At least Grace can admit to herself that she's in love (even if she won't tell Brad), unlike the Best girls!
I was so excited to see Tamie Dearen had a new Best series book out, and had to start on it right away! I have been hoping for Grace's story, and I was not disappointed! She is a character I just love, her bossiness and need for control while being a small thing relate to me a lot... ;) I loved getting to visit old characters that are near and dear to me!
My sister kept trying to talk to me while I was reading and I kept having to tear myself away, all while not wanting to!
The story technically takes place before book three, but it's easily read either way!
This book was hilarious! I laughed and laughed. I can't wait for more! I am hoping Ben gets his own book. He is definitely one of my favorite characters!*keeping fingers crossed* I am definitely a fan! :)
This is a sweet romance with some humor and Grace, a commitophobe, tries unsuccessfully to deal with her scary feelings for Brad. Add in her 3 sisters, brother, soon-to-be sister-in-law, and Brad's brother Ben - all determined to keep Brad and Grace a couple, and there are lots of opportunities for schemes and backfires. Kara, who wants to get her claws into Brad, adds to the mess. Grace is a bit immature, but Brad rises to the occasion.
This was quick, easy read - perfect for the beach. It is a sweet romance, suitable for young adults or adults. I haven't read the others in the series and this can be read as a stand alone.
Grace a first grade teacher and Brad Gates a doctor, find having a relationship difficult.
I have enjoyed every book in this series, but not as much as this one. I don’t think I can name one other series of books that has as much wit and comedy within its pages.
The characters like playing jokes upon on another. Of course all in good taste and because they like each other. It made for funny scenes.
I felt myself speeding through much of the book because it was so good. The writing is easy to read and entertaining. I’m going to miss the characters.
This was a fun addition to The Best Girls Series. I truly enjoyed getting to know some of the less known characters from the previous books. This story is set in between the original 2nd and 3rd book, providing unique glances into those story lines as well. As one of my favorites of the whole series, I would recommend this book to anyone who wants a light, easy, and heart-warming read.
I think everyone can relate to Grace has struggles through the battle between her head and heart. Best Foot Forward shows the inner world of a woman in a fun, comical, and relate-able way. A darling read!
Not badly written but I cannot believe anyone is so afraid of love and romance without any actual reason. I could understand it if she had a few failed relationships or one of her sisters had problems but she is part of a loving if bossy family and there is no reason other than total insanity for her to act the way she does. I have worked as a psychiatric nurse for over 15 years and and would think she needed medication and psychotherapy. Any guy willing to put up with this crazy behavior may himself be in need of help. Could be funny if it were not quite so over exagerated. The tight family ties I understand. Just no background to explain this extreme and odd behavior. I would not think it of a 1st grade teacher.
It started off alright, but with each page just got more paranoid and bizarre. I know romance novels are not known for realism, but this was just too forced. Characters did not develop, and the struggles were surface at best. The best of the book was the mean character who is served justice in a tidy way at the end, but even the ending was a continuation of dialogue from the beginning that could have been solved in a few pages. It felt like the author was trying to create a comedy of errors type vibe, but it sunk. I do not recommend.
I enjoyed the basic story of this book but , for me, it was kind of confusing. Brad and Grace obviously loved each other but their romance just seemed to go around and around. So many misunderstandings and no talking to help solve the misunderstandings, just kept me a little confused. They finally get their well deserved HEA. I usually like this type of story but this one just left me confused.
Grace likes to keep the people she dates at arm's length. Having fun for a few weeks until it starts to get serious and then it is time to call it a day. So when Brad confesses his love for her it sends her tail in a spin and running for the hills. But why does she feel so miserable? Could it be that Brad is the one for her?
Although she attempts to make things right between them, one of Brad's colleagues has other ideas and has set her sights on the doctor for herself. A series of misunderstandings, manipulation and missed chances happen. Can they work through all the hurdles in their way to be together?
This was one of the dumbest books I've ever read. I know romance novels are supposed to have that push-and-pull factor but this was ludicrous. Grace is one of the most idiotic characters I've had the displeasure of meeting in a long, long time. Are we really supposed to believe that she's an adult? This book read like it was written by a teenager for teenagers. I didn't finish it.
This is another clean read featuring Grace and Brad. Of course we have someone trying to come between them, when Grace doesn’t do the job herself. If you enjoy a little comedy with your romance, you will enjoy this story. I’m looking forward to reading the final books in this series, especially Charlie’s story.
Poor Brad never knew what hit him when he met Grace! Totally crazy with her constant thoughts in her head. I felt sorry for Brad after his accident. As for Kara she got her just reward for her evilness. Glad Brad and Grace finally were working it out. Just sad the story ended too fast. Great read.
So much dumb miscommunication and lying. I was annoyed through most of the book, but I kept with it for some reason...and really didn't get any reward at the end.
My only positive was that is was clean and not smutty.
I love Tamie Dearen. I love the Best Girls series. But this one just seemed tooo much manipulated plot. That said, there were lots of funny situations and I would read it again.
The Best series is one of the best romance stories I have read in a while. Tammie Dearen has a way of making her characters very memorable. I you can't wait to see them in the next books. I highly recommend this series.
Total confusion ensued, when Grace had to break up with Brad because he said the "L" word. The craziness just keeps going and going even with we'll intending family trying to help.
I loved Grace, plenty of sass and personality. Unfortunately a previous boyfriend damaged her self esteem. It took a little too long for Brad to win her over, but I still really like all these family members.
Nice short story which I couldn't put down. Read it in a few hours. Nice happy ending with some funny moments along the way, though I did want to knock their heads together for most of the book!
