Dawn Sullivan has a wonderful, supportive husband, and three beautiful children. She enjoys spending time with them, which normally involves some baseball, shooting hoops, taking walks, watching movies, and reading.
Her passion for reading began at a very young age and only grew over time. Whether she was bringing home a book from the library, or sneaking one of her mother's romance novels to read by the light in the hallway when she was supposed to be sleeping, Dawn always had a book. She reads several different genres and subgenres, but Paranormal Romance and Romantic Suspense are her favorites.

Nico is part of the RARE (Rescue and Retrieval Extractions) team. A team made up mostly of shifters with various special abilities. Angel, the team leader, receives a call that the five year old niece of the White River pack's Alpha, Chase, has been kidnapped, and the trail has gone cold. Angel and her team won't get their much needed downtime, as they could never refuse to go after a little girl, and they are, after all, the best of the best. With interesting twists and turns to the story, Nico discovers Lily's mother, Jenna, is his mate, making it even more imperative they get her back. Nico wants a family and will let nothing stop him. The plot continues as the team discovers there is a lot more at work here than just Lily's capture, and more lives to save. I thought the plot line of Nico's Heart was great and followed along with interest to see how it would unfold. I loved the characters, and there were a lot of them, but I found there were too many stories within the story going on to really appreciate any of them on more than a surface level, as there just wasn't enough book for that. Without giving anything away, it looks like more than one person found their mate during the course of this story. With a surprise ending, Nico's Heart was a great, easy read, full of non-stop action right from the start that will get your adrenaline pumping. I will be following with interest to see where the author is going with this series, and the children involved have definitely already stolen my heart. A good, solid beginning for an interesting series.

So this isn't your typical paranormal love story. We have Nico & Jenna who are the main character that is focuses on romance but the secondary characters also find love. I felt like it was a whole bunch of story's in one, It could be confusing but you quickly remember who is who. I liked that not only Nico and Jenna found their mates but the other people did as well. What happened to Jenna long time ago she is brave, Nico loved them as soon as he heard about who they were going to help it was cute also Lilly her daughter. I loved how she knew the future and was able to communicate with the team. Phoenix's book is next can't wait

I don't know if I can classify this as romance... just a quick bam wam thank you ma'am type of sex and oh my god you're my mate, so I automatically love you, so just bite me now type of romance.

Basically, a bunch of shifters trying to save pregnant psychic women from the General who works for an organization we don't get to find much about till probably the next few books...I also wasn't a fan of the writing, it felt kind of dry and didn't flow to me. The plot was all over the place, it didn't focus on one couple, it went to three or maybe even four (I don't remember, I lost count after the second couple), and I felt like it took away from the main characters' story and even nonexistent romance. Ms. Silivan should have focused more on one pairing instead of going sporadically from one couple to the next, which loses the audience at some point when the POV changes.

Not sure if I am going to read this one.

My review for Nico's Heart, book one in the RARE, Rescue and Retrieval Extractions, series.

I enjoy reading paranormal books of any kind and love shifter stories. I like the fact that this book stood out to me from a lot of the others. It was a different, cleverly thought out story with a good suspense element.

We are thrown straight into the action when the RARE team, an elite team of shifters and people with other special abilities led by a psychic shifter named` Angel, are called in to help find a little girl named Lily who has been kidnapped. Lily is the niece of Chase, the local wolf shifter pack alpha.

Nico, one of the RARE team is thrown off kilter when he realises that Jenna, Lily's mother, is his mate. Making him vow to find Lily and make a family with his new mate.

I really enjoyed this book. It was well written and the story flowed well with lots of action and suspense. The characters are believable and likeable and the antagonists were also well written. There were a lot of different character PoV's is this book which I think was needed to get to know the characters but my only real quibble was that it was sometimes a little confusing to follow but this could also have something to do with the fact that I am a very fast reader. Ideally I would have preferred more definite breaks between PoV's but as I said before this helped us get to know RARE members better.

This is a good start to a new series and different from the run of the mill shifter stories. I look forward to more in the series. A good solid 4.5 stars from me :)

New to me author.

Angel gets a call from a neighboring pack Jenna the sister of Alpha Chase her daughter Lily has been kidnapped.
Nicco starts growling and at first Angel does not have a clue why.
Each of her team is not only a shifter each has another unique power.

Angel and her crew head out to meet up with all from the pack and find out a few things while there.
1. Angel thinks the Alpha is drop dead gorgeous
2. Nicco has a good reason for his growls

Nicco knows without any doubt he will save lily and bring her home.
They investigate and then head out to get this little girl back.
The very first ever meeting between father and daughter is heartbreakingly beautiful.

But is it over?
What of this General they heard about?
And what of Chase and Angel?

The entire team is in a battle of huge proportions to save women who are being brutally raped and impregnated. Can the team get to them all in time? And will all in the team be safe?

Wow gripping book and I can not wait to read the next one

I can honestly say this book grabbed me from page one. I loved how the women are strong although the males stronger. Each character has a story to tell and I can’t wait to find out what that story is.

This is the first book I've read by this author and I'm so glad I did! It starts right in with action from the beginning to the end and leaves you want more!

Nico Marx is a member of the RARE Group (Rescue and Retrieval Extractions). Angel is his boss and some special. They are a team with special abilities and take missions that no one else will take. They are asked to retrieve a child, Lily, who was kidnapped. Lily happens to be the niece of the Alpha Chase, is the daughter of Jenna who is Chase's sister. Nico knows Jenna is his mate and is patiently waiting to claim her. Even though Lily is not his biological daughter, she is the daughter of his heart. When Nico finds out Lily has been taken he goes a little ballistic. He intends to get Lily back and claim his mate. They do get Lily back but there is concern that the ones that took Lily may try to get her again. A group led by the General are taking women shifters to breed with psychics. Now they have to find out where they are keeping all these women.

This group is more like a family than a team-they look out for each other and care deeply for each other too. Love the hot romance between Nico and Jenna and love the interaction of all the characters. I absolutely adore little Lily, she's such a charmer. This book has it all-hot romance, lots of action and suspense. This is so well written you feel you are part of their family and all your emotions are involved with this story. I just loved it and highly recommend this book and I know you will enjoy it too.

I loved this book!!! I was gifted this book in return for my honest review. This is the first time I have read anything by this author and am I glad I did. The story is about an Elite Team of people with special abilities that are in the "Search and Retrieval" business. They call themselves R.A.R.E. (Rescue and Retrieval Extractions. Their Leader or Alpha's name is Angel and she is a strong, Independent, take no prisoners kind of woman. This first book centers around a team member named Nico Marx and he is a wolf shifter. He is sexy and built like a tank. Angel gets a call from a woman named Jenna Montgomery who is a shifter with the White River pack and her 6 year old daughter, Lily, has been kidnapped. When they arrive at the White River pack compound, Nico discovers that Jenna is his mate. From this point on the action doesn't stop. I could not put this book down and read it in one day. I was hooked from the first page. This author has written such believable characters that I found myself laughing and cheering for them and hoping they all get their HEA. She has made them more than a team. They are Family and watch out for one another. They would die for each other! I would highly recommend this book to anyone who likes a story with a great plot, hot and sexy characters, steamy love scenes, and kick ass action! I can't wait to read Phoenix's book.

*I’m not really into Paranormal Romances but this book and author have changed my mind. This is an action and romance packed story was fast paced. I really enjoyed it. I can’t believe how fast I got sucked into the story. It felt like I was there in the story watching everything transpire as it happened. I love getting hooked on a story and not wanting to get out of it. To me this book ended before I wanted it too. This book is a fantastic start to an incredible series. I can’t wait to find out what’s going to happen in the next book in this series. I highly recommend this book.

This is about RARE, Rescue and Retrieval Extractions, a group of people with special abilities along with just plain being kick-ass! Nico gets a vision of a little girl that needs to be rescues and alerts Angel, his boss, that she needs to take the phone call. Jenna is calling about her kidnapped daughter and RARE heads out to the local Wolf Pack to assist them in the search for Lily, Jenna's daughter who also happens to be the Alpha's, Chase, niece. Nico goes all kind of wolfy because it turns out Jenna is his mate. And a mate always protects what's theirs!

Lots more drama, action, and excitement going in this book, but I don't want to give it all away. This was an awesome debut from a fantastic author, Dawn Sullivan. I expect that the rest of the series will be great too! Great characters with lots of possibilities for more stories, and I'm hoping that Phoenix will be the next story in the series, he's the only human member in RARE.

I was gifted “Nico’s Heart” by Dawn Sullivan for an honest review. This is the first book in the RARE (Rescue and Retrieval Extractions) Series. I absolutely loved this book and could not put it down.
Nico is part of the RARE team that goes where they are needed in order to save whoever is in danger. Being a RARE member takes a lot of planning on their part when it comes to saving an innocent’s life. Each member has a special ability that helps them. Some of the team members are shifters while others have different abilities. One day the team gets a call from Jenna requesting their help locating her daughter that is missing. Just from the phone call alone Nico knows that the team must take the call because Jenna is his mate and he will do whatever he can to make her happy.
This book also introduces the characters for the rest of the series. There is Angel, Rikki, Trace, Jaxson, and Phoenix who are all part of the RARE team.

This book is brilliant!! The characters are awesome and oh my the story line is compelling!. It is about a Team called R.A.R.E which means "Rescue and Retrieval extractions". In this book they get a call from a woman named Jenna who is a white wolf shifter. Jenna needs help finding her daughter who was kidnapped. As Nico one of the team members listens in on the call he starts growling lol. Angel the team leader wonders whats up with Nico? :) . Everyone on team R.A.R.E are telepathic. Nico is a wolf Shape shifter. There are lots of surprises in this story some may even make you laugh they did me Lol. This book has about any thing you want from suspense, action , love , romance to humor . I loved this book!. I am looking forward to reading more about team R.A.R.E !. I truly hope Dawn Sullivan makes this a really long series :) .

I was lucky to get a chance to review book 1 for this tour and I loved it!

You are thrown into the story straight away, so much so, that I had to check to make sure this was indeed book 1 and I wasn't missing anything :) Because of the fact that you are thrown in straight away the story just draws you in and its very fast paced.

RARE is group of supernaturals - each member has a different ability and they are all "family". When the call comes in to help Jenna, Nico has a vision that she is his mate.
From that moment you know he is going to do everything in his power and RARE to help her.

I loved Nico and his story. All the characters are strong, well written and I can't wait to find out more about each of them!

Nico is part of an elite team that preforms search and rescue’s that others cannot. All the members on his team have special abilities and are the best of the best. This elite group is lead by Angel. Fresh off a mission they receive a call for help from Jenna a desperate wolf shifter whose daughter has been abducted. From the start Nico knew Jenna and her daughter were his because of his gift. But it doesn’t stop there once they rescue Lily more sinister plans are brought to the teams attention. Angel finds her mate and Phoenix is in emotional turmoil. This book is action packed and will leave you craving more. Will Nico and his team, his family be able to save everyone and stil come out unscathed? Will one of their own be lost to them forever?

There is no shortage of kick butt action, steamy romance with new found mates, and a happily ever after! RARE suits up and saves the day, complete with their rare abilities. I felt the book was rushed a little bit, but it did not take away from the storyline. Getting to know all team members the same time, weaving their own story takes effort (and guts) on the writers part and she did well. My favorite was Chase and Angel, probably because she is the ultimate alpha. Will Chase measure up? Can Nico accept Lily and Jenna, despite the trama? Will Jax find his mate? Phoenix is waiting for his mate, now can he save her? Rikki, little sister to Nico and Phoenix is in trouble, can RARE save her and the rest? I am excited for the next one! Great read!

Nico's Heart is about a team who do Co-op, Each has a special ability that make them an asset to the team. Most are shifters, and some have found their mate while in this book.
This book and very fast pace (which I loved) and didn't have unnecessary filling that I find in some books just to make longer.
Dawn is a very very new self publish author, I was gifted a copy of Nico's Heart for a review, Dawn has a lot of potential in her writing and in her books. I look forward to see the growth and watching Dawn only get better. I am going to keep an eye on her and watch her get more popular.

I've been looking for a paranormal romance series with good story lines and awesome characters since...well since Twilight. I've finally found them!!! I fell in love with every single character. I've read books where the author introduces multiple characters, to set up for future books and fail. I get confused and I have to go back to see which character I'm reading about. Dawn's introductions of different characters and set up was flawless. The book has romance,action and hot alpha males. I look forward to the rest of RARE as well as the White Wolves series.

Wow this is such an awesome book that i struggled to put it down it's one of the best paranormal books i have ever read. It has a variety of shifters all working together and part of a family. together they are strong and can save anyone but what will happen when they find their mates. will they weaken them or just make them stronger. I can't wait for book 2 to see what happens next and get to know everyone better.

So, I read this a few days ago and was so excited about where it is going that I have stalked the author and is trying to get inside info... I loved the characters and the way she writes the team out as if they were a family. It is like the Rare team is a character in itself. I am hounding Dawn to write Lily's story, like after the team...then fast foreword...I see her with the bear cub. Great read and I am set for the future, waiting for the rest of the team's stories.

I couldn't put this book down. I was instantly drawn into the story and the lives of Nico, Jenna, and the rest of the team. I won't spoil the storyline for anyone, but Nico's Heart is a must read book and I will be recommending this book to everyone. Dawn Sullivan did a great job bringing the characters to life. I can't wait for the next book in the series.

This is book one in the RARE series. While this is the only book out at the time of review, I recommend that the books be read in order for continuity of the storyline.

Angel and her team are RARE, Rescue and Retrieval Extractions, and they have a reputation for getting the job done where others have failed. Their abilities allow them to be the absolute best extraction team in existence. Just home from their latest mission, and getting ready to unwind, Angel takes a call from an unknown number. Jenna Montgomery begs Angel and her team to find her daughter. When one of her team members, Nico, all but leaves to start the mission she hasn’t even accepted yet, Angel doesn’t question it, she just gives Jenna her requirements and packs her team up to head out to find the little girl.

I really enjoyed this book, while the overall premise has been done before (and lets face it, what idea hasn’t been?) The author puts enough of a spin on it to make it a unique take on things. The characters have plenty of potential, and the writing is solid. I would say that the average reader will love this book. That being said, I think it could have been better. The characters and their story could have been fleshed out a bit more, things moved along far too quickly. The fact is that there are several major plot points in this one short book, and honestly, it could have been split up into at least two or three books without harming the storyline or making the story drag. Splitting up the book would have allowed the author to really flesh out the members of RARE and to tell their stories with the time and attention to detail that they really deserved. Still, it’s a good first effort and I am interested to read the next installment. I have a feeling that as the story develops, so too, will the author.

I liked reading this book, it draws you into the story and is very fast paced and to the point. I enjoyed reading it, because it has so many characters in it that make you want to know more of who they are. Nico is part of a task force that helps solve problems that arise, RARE is the best of the best in the Supernatural World. They happen to get a call from a woman named Jenna, who happens to be the sister of the pack leader needinging help to find her missing little girl. The investigation ends up leading to many more problems and issues to keep the little girl safe and others. During the process Nico realizes that he has a mate and he becomes very territorial with Lily and Jenna. The whole situation not only leads to his mate, but other team members as well. Angel that is in charge of the group is awesome and fearless, but to find her mate can she expect him as well? Their unit is like a huge family that looks after one another and I loved that in the story. Nico and Jenna are hot together and makes you want a strong and powerful man just like him. Will he be able to have and keep his family once they find out who is responsible for the kidnapping or will he lose them after he has just found them? The story keeps you guessing and trying to find out what is going on in their investigation. It has suspense, love, and mystery thrown into this book and does pull at your emotions. There were many times, I could feel what the characters were feeling and that is made this story come alive for me. I would say this is a great book to read and enjoy.

Okay I need book two as of yesterday, this book really has me wanting more of the R.A.R.E agency. Wow, this is a new author and this book was her debut book and Dawn blew me away. It was well written, action packed, and a little bit of romance thrown in the mix. I was on the edge of my seat from beginning to the end.
You have all these great characters and you want to know all of their stories and I really hope Dawn writes more about the characters. Each character have their own abilities. I really LOVE Nico. He is caring, strong and very swoon-worthy. He cares so much about his mate Jenna and her daughter Lily. At the beginning RARE is on a mission to find Lily. There are so many twist and turns that will keep you interested. Then you have Angel she is a strong leader and her character was brilliantly written. I can’t wait for Phoenix’s story which is the next book. If you like paranormal shifter books, this book is definitely for you. I recommend this book to anyone really. Dawn you are a talented and brilliant new author and I am a fan for life. Great job writing Nico’s story.

Generally I love kicka** shifter books but I was a tad confused on Nico and Jenna's relationship, yeah I know they're mates but how do they have a daughter together if they're meeting for the first time in this crisis? Maybe I read it wrong but that's what I got out of it. I did love the passion Nico had for Jenna, "panting he looking at her breasts, his eyes going full wolf. "Mine," he growled. "Mine!" Her pants were shredded off her body." Honestly that's all I can say what I appreciated about the book there were to many story lines for me to follow and to many characters opinions going on.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more in this series. Normally I don't enjoy serial books that much, but so far it appears these can be read as a stand alone as well. I enjoy anything paranormal so this book met that requirement and then some. I truly enjoy a strong "alpha" female and look forward to her story in the future. I commend this author for writing something interesting and just a little different from the normal alpha male type. Not saying there aren't plenty of those in this series.

So I'm new to this genre and I loved every page of this amazing book. The characters in this book have a bond between them and you can feel it on the pages. Each character is strong, efficient and very sexy. the RARE group makes you feel like you are one of them. The fluidity of this story is amazing and there is so much packed into this story. Nico and Jenna are adorable and throw in some cute little kiddos an you have a great book. I can't wait to read each story in this series. Dawn Sullivan has a fan for life.

I'm going to be honest here, I almost cried more than once while reading this book. The passion Nico feels for Jenna's daughter, Lily, couldn't be any stronger if she was his own flesh and blood. And that fact that he can be mad as hell at a situation, but keep his temper under control and make sure he doesn't scare Lily well...it's a beautiful thing. This is a fast paced, action packed romance that will be over before you know it and leave you wanting more.

My personal recommendation would be that this book is for readers 18 and over.

I LOVED this book! I'm not much of a reader and often don't make it beyond the first few chapters before I put it down and quit. With Nico's heart I sat up reading all night long. I loved the way the character's were easy to relate to and follow. The only problem I had was when I got finished, there wasn't anymore to read. Can't wait to see if there is a sequel! I recommend this book to anyone looking for a great read. I wasn't disappointed.

It's been a while since I read anything paranormal, but I really enjoyed this. I didn't know what to expect, other than shifter's, and Dawn did a great job building a world around a fast paced and intriguing plot...

And that ending??? I literally screamed 'you cannot end it here'... yes, it is a cliff-hanger, and it WILL have me picking up Phoenix's Fate asap.

A great read for any paranormal fans out there... 4 stars!
