Three wishes = three chances to screw up.

For twenty-five years Dot’s life has been an uphill battle where every win has only led to a series of losses, so when she accidentally becomes the master of a real genie in a bottle, the prospect of making the three biggest decisions of her life in quick succession feels more like a death sentence than a jackpot.

Raji has had one tedious job for thousands of granting the same boring wishes for an endless string of greedy, self-satisfying masters. But when he finds himself in the twenty-first century with a client whose anxiety leads her to seek his advice, he’s suddenly allowed something he’s only ever dreamed a piece of the action.

When Dot’s reluctance to leave her comfort zone and Raji’s reluctance to overstep his boundaries get the wishes off to a rocky start, the two realize that working together may be the key to success. And when they discover that a mysterious stranger is in pursuit of the genie, they will have to forsake the roles of master and servant entirely to grant a final wish that could change both their lives forever.

Wish Wrecked is a clean, fast-paced, contemporary fantasy/romance.

Writing fun stories with realistic, flawed human characters is quite possibly my favorite thing in the world. I love people, I love how we all experience life so uniquely, and I love exploring different perspectives, especially those that help me and my readers connect with each other. That's the power of books!

My mission as an author is to help my readers see the human race in a more compassionate light. To look deeper at one another rather than instantly passing judgement. To extend empathy despite our differences. And I package it all up in fun, compelling, maybe slightly fantastical stories.

As someone who consumes stories in all their iterations, be it film, television, song, poetry, or especially books, it's been my dream to contribute my own stories, stories born from my own experiences and the experiences of people I've met. I hope my contributions spark something inside of you, because that means my plan is working. Thanks for being here!

I love a good genie story and this one did not disappoint! The story being set in the modern world, added an additional layer of intrigue. Not only do you have romance but you also have a couple of mystery subplots as well which helped me stay very engaged!

The characters in this book were emotionally complex and the personal growth both of the main characters went through was so heart warming.

I also loved how all the side characters added so much depth to the story! They weren't just there, but they were integral to every part and the FMC's development throughout the story!

Overall, this book was not what I was expecting in the best way possible and is one of my top reads of the year!

UPDATE: I finished and I stand by what I already said. This went places I wasn't expecting (in a good way). This was such a fun read. I enjoyed small things like the love interest having facial hair, to big things like themes of personal growth and healing. There were some good quotes and moments to make me think, and funny lol moments.

I'm 75% done, and so far I'm really enjoying this fun and refreshing take on a genie story! Here's what's going well so far:
- It's refreshing to have a heroine who is thoughtful, kind, and empathetic. Even though she has self-doubts and anxiety, it's not too negative or simply all about the love interest (feels more authentic).
- facial hair on the male love interest. Thank you for giving him a beard!
- Communication! Really appreciating that people are communicating and sharing real feelings instead of miscommunication and angst taking up all the space!

˚₊· ͟͟͞͞➳❥ Favorite Character ▸ Raji (bbg coded fr)

˚₊· ͟͟͞͞➳❥ Favorite quote ▸ ❝It takes stretching to find a downside, too. Im just picking a direction.❞ 68%

˚₊· ͟͟͞͞➳❥ Review ▸ I had to immediately write a review, I finished this book in a day. Which is crazy because I was considering dnfing it at the beginning…

So at the beginning I was really, really not liking Dot. As I spoke to my trusted advisor (aka my mom) about this book I was honestly complaining because Dot ANNOYED ME. Then she went “Well, I guess you’re seeing the character as she sees herself then.” And my entire view shifted. That statement is a testament to this authors writing.

Dot - So many moments I could see some of myself in her. I don’t think I’ve ever read such human main character before. Her growth was pretty incredible, even though I was severely suspicious at first. I was worried this would be a “ugh I’m such a loser but a hot guy likes me so I guess I’m cool,” but that’s not how it turned out at all. I like that even though there was so much growth, you can see that even though you’re growing a mindset is still a hard plan to grow from. Even when she was at the highest moment, yes the wishes helped, but you could see Dot truly growing as person because she was encouraged to grow, not forced too.

Raji - sugar pie honey bun, you know that I LOVE YOU. Anyways hehe, I throughly enjoyed him as a character as well. Again speaking to my advisor she pointed out that I was also reading his character exactly the way Dot viewed him/the author wrote him. This fun, mysterious good looking guy with crazy power and a kind heart. His backstory was well thought out and the solution was honestly genius.

Romance - I’ll try to remain spoiler free, but I’m sure anyone reading this review must know this is also a romance book. To be honest I wasn’t sold on them as a couple until time had passed. However, as the story progressed and each character grew independently, the love story was beautiful and real. I like it when people inspire change, not when they’re the cause of it. (If that makes sense)

Overall I couldn’t put this book down for long. I found myself thinking of it when I wasn’t reading it and I was in tears knowing it was finished. I was so captivated and enthralled in the story I was at the edge of my seat for the last half. The world building was top tier. Modern day is a choice, but one that paid off well. I loved the elements of magic that seemed plausible and I would honestly love to see it explained upon with different characters.

P.s. I NEED A CHRISTMAS NOVELLA PLZ AND THANK YOU I MISS MY BABIES ALREADY.

4.5 stars!! I was pleasantly surprised by this genie romance, and grew to really love the characters and story. Full review coming soon!

EDIT:

“You’re my first wish. And my second. And my third,” he whispered. “I’m attached.” 🧞‍♂️💜💛💚🏖️💰✨

Thank you @sara_tells_stories for the ARC of this fun genie romance!! I finished this one a hot minute ago and am embarrassed by how late this review is…better late than never?? 🤪😅

I really enjoyed this book! Dot was such an anxious mess at the story’s beginning(broken up with, in between jobs, no friends, and a absent mother who only calls when she needs something), so her character development throughout this book was incredibly satisfying. She learns to take risks, confide in and rely on the people around her, and, of course, fall in love.

And Raji 😍 That man is such a cinnamon roll. His sweetness is persistent, and so is his protective nature. This isn’t categorized as a “billionaire romance,” but I feel like Raji gave the same “I gotchu, doll. Whatever you need, I’ll give it to you.” But in a completely adorable, tender(and not creepy 😂) way.

Like I said, it’s been a while since I read the book so I can’t recall too many details, but I thoroughly enjoyed skimming over my highlights. The YEARNING and adorable confessions in this book were to die for 😍

I also loved the side characters and the found family theme throughout. Dot’s mom is the worst, but she comes around by the epilogue 🤪 The story’s resolution was a little “THAT’S ALL IT TOOK?!?!”, but ehhh, they got their HEA. I’m happy 🤣

This was a delicious debut, and looking forward to seeing what Sara George comes up with next! 💜💛💚

If you want to dive into a super sweet story about love, finding yourself, overcoming your anxiety and self doubts - this one is for you!

I was looking for a cute book to change things up and this delivered everything!

After Dot (FMC) gets broken up with by her Nurse boyfriend who was providing for everything, she starts to spiral. Between jobs and a loss her landlords step in to show her kindness where she didn’t expect it. We flash back to the knowledge that she loses her money and then her grandmother during COVID. This shows us where her lack of self confidence and anxiety started to grab a hold of her. When she gets her feet under her and obtains a new job at Target she makes a spunky and funny friend, Skye. She eventually finds a genie bottle and throw in the cute magic - A GENIE called Raji! So here there real fun kicks off. We follow them on a journey of self discovery and finding love in an unexpected place.

I was so invested and got so frustrated with Dot in the beginning and then I was cheering for her at the end! The writing was so good it made me feel the appropriate things during the turning points and left me so satisfied at the end. This book was like a warm hug and a snuggle.

Thank you so much to the incredibly kind @sarageorge for my copy, I loved it!

I ADORE this book. The story, the characters, the yearning???!!!?? THE PINING???????? I thought all the characters acted their age and the book never felt juvenile to me. I loved Dot's character development as she grew in her self-confidence and self-love. Raji was perfectly tragic and cinnamon roll-y, without ever being self-pitying or wallowing. I think the world building explained away any potential plot holes. The only plot hole I found was loosely explained in a way that I'll buy, but I still don't think makes sense. But the characters and their interactions alone made this book, I loved them.

SO GOOD!

Wish Wrecked is perfect. It has everything you want in a sweet love story, none of the things you don't, and plenty of tension and magic. Dot was a little hard to root for at first since she's so pathetic in the beginning, but once Raji appeared, her character was challenged and she began to change. The romance was passionate but with kisses only and minimal description. The way magic and power were portrayed worked really well. I liked how it was explained. Highly recommend!

Wish Wrecked was a total five star for me! The characters were incredibly likable and relatable, the story was a page-turner that kept me guessing, and the sprinkles of humor and romance throughout filled me with all the feels. Sara’s mastery of the written word was apparent from page 1, and I can’t wait to see what she does next!

This book is ADORABLE! I had the pleasure of meeting the author at a local book shop when I was traveling, and she 100% sold me on this book with just a few tidbits about it (and thank you for the book stickers!!). She was great and I am so glad I gave it a chance. I bought the audio version and could barely put it down (take my air pods out, much to my family's annoyance- whatever, they can deal :P ) Anyway, the characters are super relatable (as a partial Dot raising a total Dot in my daughter, I could totally follow the main characters thought processes). Dot's growth over the course of the story was well outlined and implemented. To see her confidence increase, both in herself and those around her was so encouraging. I loved the side characters too! The story was also original, with some great whimsical elements thrown in. The writing was clear, grammatically correct, and engaging. I definitely laughed out loud at several points in the story. And the romance between Dot and Raji was perfect! Emotional, relatable, enchanting and tender. The entire book was clean, which was very refreshing. No language, no sex, so 100% ok for younger teens as well as those of us 40 somethings who enjoy a good fantasy romance. I can't wait to read more by this author!

📝REVIEW:
This book was filled with relatable characters, and suspenseful moments that kept me engaged! I loved this modern day take on the legends of genies. I liked how the author took the time to show the genie’s adjustment to the 21st century because it created a fun new dynamic. I also appreciated how the book had a contemporary lighter feel to it, but also harsher elements that added the perfect amount of depth. But my favorite part is how I was kept on the edge of my seat until the very last pages! I was beginning to think there would be no way everything would wrap up neatly. Wow was I wrong! The ending was perfect, and I you want to know what I’m taking about, I highly recommend reading this book.

I really enjoyed this modern fairy tale. Dot, who is somewhat hopeless and depressed at first must dig herself out of her depression over being dumped by a long term boyfriend and get back to the work of life. She starts to discover that although she feels friendless and alone, this is not the case. Her landlords who are patiently waiting for the rent to be paid show up to help her clean up after that messy break up. When she goes to work at Target she meets another person, Skye, who becomes her friend. And then Enter the green bottle that holds a handsome but troubled genie. I love how this book showed the intricasy of making wishes, the problem with turning to and trusting magic from nefarious sources, and how Dot grows and develops. There is a plot twist at the very end that will delight any Harry Potter fan.
I loved it. Good quirky fun!

If you want a quick and fun read that has magic, travel to exotic locations, a variety of complex side characters, and great character growth between the two MC's, then you need to add this book to your TBR stat!

This book was seriously such a FUN RIDE!! If you've ever dealt with anxiety or decision paralysis, then you will totally relate to the main character, Dot. And the interactions between her and Raji were so sweet and wholesome. Their story is one filled with intrigue, adventure, romance, and personal growth.

Sara's writing is so fun! She will have you chuckling one second, and then will have you in your feels the next. Wish Wrecked such a wonderful debut, and I can't wait to read her next book!

Three wishes = three chances to screw up.
Wish Wrecked is a clean, fast-paced, contemporary fantasy/romance.

🕮This is Sara’s debut book, she did a fantastic job with the storytelling. I was drawn in right away and both wanted to get to the end to know how it ended and wasn’t ready for it to end.
I absolutely loved the journey Dot and Raji go on. Dot tries so hard to be careful with her wishes, even getting Raji’s thoughts on some good wishes and what are some bad wishes.
And they go horseback riding!!! I love horses but have only been able to ride once. Hopefully going again next year though.

🎙️The Narration by Ariel Barber was well done her voice was engaging and her ability to make the story come alive made the listening very much enjoyable.

Delightful, clean romance. This story plays with the question, how would an anxious introvert, in her mid-20's, struggling with adulting and decision overwhelm, handle finding a genie in a bottle? Said genie hasn't been out of his bottle in several hundred years and is in awe of differences in 21st century culture, particularly having a single, female, middle-class master, who prefers not having someone bow to her. It's also a story about growth and learning to leave your comfort zone. I'm not usually a romance reader, but I found the romance parts sweet, not over the top, awkward, or icky, and the overall story and dialogue kept me engrossed.

This was a fun modern genie rom-com!
I loved the main characters and the side characters.
Dot was adorable, thoughtful and kind.
It was fun to root for her and Raji both were sunshine!
This definitely could have been a five and I thought it was until the ending.
The side story of Lou didn’t seem to fit the rest of the book and just seem to drag everything out. I found myself skimming just wanting it to be over versus the rest of the book I didn’t want to end.
In reading the ending, it wrapped up so quickly it made Lou even more irrelevant.
I wish there had been an epilogue or something so the end felt more anchored to the main characters.
But overall still a fun and enjoyable read.

Definitely a cute UF tale that I greatly enjoyed! George was rather creative with bringing a genie into our modern world, mixing fairytales with modern day. I adored the characters of the genie and his master, plus their relationship. I also loved that George took a modern girl down on her luck with a tough life and very little self- esteem to help her see through friendship, love, and a little luck, things really can and do get better. The way she starts fighting for herself and what she wants by the end is so well done, you can't help but cheer her on!
Genie and her were so swoony and I loved that she started from the get-go to make it a client/agent relationship so it was less weird when they fell in love. It was more work together to friendship, to more.

I absolutely love this book! 5 stars for me! I finished this book in 2 days thats how good it was. I devoured it! I love a beautiful Aladdinish genie retelling of a story. This book did not disappoint by any means. I love how Dot found her self, over came her insecurities and anxiety and her self doubt. I was so invested in this story that there were times that Dot really frustrated me but I love her all the same. I love Dot and Raji's journey of self discovery and also finding love. Sara George's writing is exceptional and I can not wait to read more of what she writes. Chefs kiss!!!

I really really enjoyed this book- the characters were well written and relatable. I really enjoyed their love story. The only thing keeping me from giving it 5 stars was that it felt like the plot with Lou wrapped up suddenly and was like separate from what the overarching solution ended up being.

Still, 4.5 stars ⭐️

Language 🤐: Mild (used B**tard, Granting the living hell out of a wish, only two times there is something even close to language in this book in my opinion)

Romance ❤️‍🔥: Kisses only, Checking out each other semi frequently (not overly descriptive)

⚠️Kidnapping, Narcissistic mother, mention of family member who passed from Covid

Tropes/Micro Tropes
• Use to having bad luck
• Tallahassee Florida
• Raised by grandma who died from covid
• Set in 2024
• Hilarious “sexist” genie - Raji
• 612 years of him being in the bottle
• Helping her plan her wishes
• Nickname only he is allowed to use
• Dual POV
• Protective MMC
• Comfort her when she has a nightmare
• Forced proximity

You guys this book! I was not sure what I was expecting when I picked it up I like to go into my books blind which I guess if you're reading this you don't, but oh my goodness! I loved this book! It was HILARIOUS! I could not get enough of it! I don't know that I have laughed so much at a book before! It was not only funny but had an amazing story, with amazing characters who truly grew throughout the book! These are characters that I came to love and care about and felt so real to me!

So lets get into taking about these wonderful characters.

Dot, just a modern girl, coming of a break up and what feels like a string of years if not a lifetime of bad luck. Dot is semi reclusive just trying to survive as best she can hoping to just make it through what life has thrown at her. After she has started to pick up some of the pieces of her life (thanks to her semi scare but semi maybe nice landlady),the luck of getting a new job and old lady shoving a bottle at her from a yard sale she's starting to wonder what in the world has happened to give her suddenly good luck

"She scoffed at the thought. It was silly to think the contents of an old bottle would be anything more than disappointing. Too many good things had been happening lately, and it clouded her judgment. Still… she’d try another way to get it open. What did she have to lose? Besides a poltergeist-free house, which, realistically, might help with her loneliness."

Well she does figure out how to open said bottle and boy does she get more then she bargained for

“Can I text 911 or do I have to actually talk to someone?” she cried urgently to no one in particular." (just to give you a little insight into what a recluse our girl Dot is 🤣, but hey maybe this would be a helpful idea for some people)

In enters Raji, who has been on a very long spurt of being stuck in the bottle. He is very skeptical of his new master and has resigned himself to a life of granting wishes for others and never having any freedom or will of his own.

So mix our semi social awkward, very not confident Dot, with a non-trusting, very new to this century and learning all about it Raji and let the hilarity begin!

As these two learn to trust one another and work out Dot's wishes to the best of her advantage so that Raji may fulfill his duty while Dot seeks to keep this good luck change and navigate the fact that she is now the master of an actual real life genie there is many adventures and miss adventures to come.

Dot and Raji feel like such real character and have such great depth to that. Not only do they feel so real and relatable every character you meet in this book feels so real. I love Skye one of Dot's co-workers who had me cackling!

Seriously I don't know that I can do this book justice in a review. I highly recommend it. If you want a book set in modern day with all the magic, hilarity, adventure, deep character growth and connection to where the character feel like good friends this book is for you! Also the ending of this book is just so good! Again words do not do it justice what are you still doing here reading this review go read the dang book already and then message me so we can chat about it!

Thanks so much to Sara for letting me have an ARC copy of your wonderful book! All opinions shared are my own! 😊

This no-spice contemporary fantasy romance is hilarious, swoony, and fun. AND addictive. Once you start reading, you won’t want to stop. 💖

Dot is a unique FMC. At first, I couldn’t figure out why she acted the way she did… but as the story progressed and more pieces of the puzzle were revealed, it all made sense. And her character growth was spectacular. LOVED IT! 👏

Raji was the BEST! His backstory was completely different than I expected and I loved getting to know him as a character. He was funny, charming, and sweet. 🧞

The plot. Wow. I’m still picking my jaw up off the ground. The action, the adventure, the MANY plot twists that I totally did not see coming. It was absolutely thrilling! So original and creative. 🏆

Seriously, this book deserves more than 5 stars.

Regarding the audiobook:
The narrator did a fantastic job with the narration and especially all the voices! If you have been wishing for the perfect audiobook, your wish has been granted. 🧞‍♂️

If you like thrilling adventure and swoony romance, (without the spice or explicit content), this book is for you!!!

Favorite parts:
💕 Totally adored Skye, Dot’s friend. 💖
💕 The ‘Karen’ incident at Target (Raji is the best)
💕 Raji’s obsession with trying every type of cereal
💕 Dot’s obsession with Harry Potter
💕 Raji’s purple genie pants
💕 Unicorn-bear
💕 All of Raji’s stories
💕 The happy ending!!!

Super favorite part:
💕 Raji marveling at the modern conveniences of the 21st century. It totally made me realize I have SO much to be grateful for!

Expect:
💋Kisses only, fully-clothed snuggling, and a few instances of ogling

📕two mild incidences of profanity (h word)

⚔️PG levels of action violence: kidnapping, gunshots, a fall which causes a broken wrist, hand to hand combat, one minor knife wound, mention of murder & assassinations

Content:
Parental abandonment, out-of-wedlock teen pregnancy, loss of loved one to COVID, internet scams, grief from a break-up, missing family, stories of masters treating servants badly,

Other content:
Magic (genie, wishes, sorcerers, gods, evil spirits, Harry Potter, etc).
