Susan's Weekend #0.5

Changing Rooms

Rate this book
Susan is shy, quiet, polite and just an all-round nice person. After discovering her partner's affair she uses a weekend away to start to make changes to her life, and to herself. Through the journey of a shopping trip for clothes for a night out, Susan becomes ever bolder in exploring the power of her body and her sexuality. She begins to shed layers, both psychologically and literally, until she finally emerges like a butterfly from its cocoon. Changing Rooms is a short story telling the beginning of Susan's awakening, an awakening that is continued in The Hen Weekend.

I'm a writer, and now I'm an erotic writer under another name. It's not just about Fifty Shades of Bandwagon, though, as I've found that writing erotica is not only more fun than "normal" writing, but that self-publishing is much harder work. The good thing is that while this is more hobby than job I can let my imagination wander.

I like my characters to come out of my stories with fewer clothes, but more self-esteem, than they went in with. My writing is very much at the softcore end of erotica so you won't find too many wotsits penetrated by wotnots, but you will find some gentle nakedness and delight in sensuous nude forms.

I love to imagine myself in the situations I place my characters into and I hope my readers do too.

Book description is probably good enough to note what happens in this story. More or less.

A recently divorced woman, Susan, is in a location far from her home, far from anyone who will know her (at least that night, friends are arriving the next day). She's there because a party will occur the next day at the hotel she is staying at. She's feeling drab, old, and not that attractive. She's wearing a coat that used to be brown, underwear that used to be white - both, through time and laundering, are now basically boring beige. That match her boring beige shoes (I do not actually recall if her shoes are beige). Oops. No, she's not wearing underwear under a coat, she's also wearing boring pants, and a blouse & sweater of no recalled description, but probably also "boring".

Being a touristy, high-class type area, Susan wanders around stores. Doesn't particularly like what she has to wear for tomorrow. Decides to see if there is anything around. Proceeds to go from store to store, buying an outfit for the next day. Top, skirt, lingerie, shoes. Different stores. Different sales-people. Wearing less and less as she continues her shopping (didn't want to 'ruin' her purchases - they are for tomorrow, and couldn't get herself to put on the boring clothing once they are off). Unless you watched her, were paying attention (most of the sales people are described as bored and inattentive, except for the lingerie location - where some heavy flirty from the barely clothed saleswoman occurred), people wouldn't necessarily realize that she's wearing less and less clothing. Because of the coat.

A story of a woman who went from feeling old, bland, boring, to one who was quite happy with herself and place in life.

Rating: ... hmm, don't appear to have a copy on my Kindle now. Well, I rated this 4 something, I know, just not certain where in the 4 star region I rated it.

This is a very short and very cute story about a woman rediscovering how good she looks. Little nudity, no smut.
