They’re working to solve an evil vampire crime, but will their steamy past get in the way?
Detective Clare Doyle never intended to go back to work for the Motham City PD. But when humans start disappearing from the city of monsters under suspicious circumstances, the lure is too great. Never mind that her vampire ex-boss, Detective Sergeant Oliver Hale is heading up the investigation. Or that Clare spent a torrid, steamy night with him three years ago after the annual PD convention dinner. She’s professional enough to overlook it… if he will. But when Clare finds she’s partnered with Oliver to solve the crime, she can’t deny that her attraction to the arrogant, charismatic vampire is still very much alive. Oliver left Motham City PD to get over his feelings for Clare. A self-declared bachelor, he’d resisted the desire to bite humans for two hundred years, until one night of passion with Clare awoke his primordial lust for blood. Now, Oliver’s understanding of vampire culture appears vital in solving the mystery of the disappearing humans. But In the pursuit of truth, Oliver must also fight the temptation of his own dark desires… in the delectable form of detective Clare Doyle.
Will Clare and Oliver resist the pull of their primal attraction? And could one bite lead to so much more…
Find out in Book 8 of Motham City monsters, a steamy suspense monster romance between a morally gray vampire boss and a feisty young human detective.
Reads as a standalone. Intended for an adult audience.
Lilith Stone spent her childhood checking for monsters under the bed. Now she writes sweet and steamy romances for grown-ups who’d prefer a monster in their bed than under it. She suffers from an over-active imagination which means she’s constantly anxious unless making up stories in her head. She wrote and illustrated her first gothic novel at age 12 and hasn’t really stopped since. English by birth, she now lives in Australia and keeps out of the sea where there are too many real life monsters.
This book is definitely my favorite in the series so far. It pulled me in right away, but what really made it shine was the chemistry between Oliver and Clare...it was perfection. This one had me grinning, swooning, and staying up way too late to read “just one more chapter.”

I had been waiting for this ARC to drop - silver fox vampire?! Sign me up!
However, this felt really quickly written, like a last-minute college writing project the night before it's due. I had high hopes and it was just, meh.
Decent storyline with two MCs, who are frankly bland and unlikeable, and I don't think it was on purpose.

I think this is a solid 3.5/5 stars. There’s good and not as good things about the story. I really liked the world building. I think the city is great it’s kinda like a blend of Law & Order and Supernatural. There’s a decent amount of spice so if that’s not your thing you’ll probably want to pass. If you like vampire human pairs this one is pretty good. The character development could have more depth. Sometimes they act a bit immature for the setting. Overall as a first time reader of the series I would be interested in more. I received an arc via BookSirens this is my honest review.

Lilith Stone also writes other monster-centered romances and cozy spicy novellas that loosely tie into her larger world of mythical creatures, fated mates, and modern paranormal love stories. She's an English-born, Australia-based romance author best known for her lighthearted yet steamy monster romance novels. Her writing is a blend of fantasy, humor, passion, and emotional connection-with each book balancing heart and heat in equal measure. Her preferred genres are Paranormal / Fantasy Romance - specifically Monster Romance featuring vampires, shifters, and other supernatural beings finding love in a contemporary setting.
Recommended Audience / Target Age Range: The Silver Fox Vampire is intended for mature readers (18+) due to explicit romantic scenes, sensual themes, and adult humor. It's perfect for fans of cozy-but-steamy paranormal romances who love monsters with heart and humans who can handle them.
What Readers In General Are Saying About the Book: Readers describe The Silver Fox Vampire as deliciously addictive, funny, and emotionally satisfying-combining the sensual charm of a forbidden vampire romance with the warmth and humor Lilith Stone is known for. Fans love the slow-burn intensity, sparkling dialogue, and emotional depth behind the spice. Some readers note the story's lighter conflict and focus on relationship dynamics over plot complexity, but that's part of its charm: it's escapist, sexy, and sweetly self-aware. Which as we all know, as a fan I'm 100% behind others. Below you will find my thoughts on the key features, Pros, Cons and final though before devouring my next Lilith Stone book.
🔑 Key Features 👉 A silver-haired, centuries-old vampire whose charm hides a lonely heart-and a darkly romantic past. 👉 A witty, confident heroine who challenges him in all the best ways, bringing humor and fire to every scene. 👉 Set in the vibrant Motham City universe where supernatural beings and humans mingle, with cameos and nods to past characters. 👉 Classic romance tropes: age gap, immortal longing, forbidden attraction, and redemption through love. 👉 High-heat scenes balanced with warmth, banter, and emotional connection. 👉 Can be read as a standalone or enjoyed as part of the full Motham City Monsters reading experience.
✨ Pros ✅ Witty dialogue and sizzling chemistry between the leads. ✅ Perfect blend of humor, heart, and heat-signature Lilith Stone style. ✅ Vivid world-building that keeps the city of monsters feeling alive and connected. ✅ Easy-to-read standalone that still rewards long-time fans of the series. ✅ Emotional payoff: themes of loneliness, self-acceptance, and the courage to love again.
⚠️ Cons ❌ Light on high-stakes conflict-best suited for readers seeking comfort, not chaos. ❌ Predictable romance beats if you're familiar with vampire tropes. ❌ Steamy content may be too explicit for readers who prefer fade-to-black. ❌ Secondary characters could use more depth in places.
💡 Final Thoughts The Silver Fox Vampire is another heart-melting addition to Lilith Stone's Motham City Monsters series, delivering laughter, passion, and a good dose of paranormal charm. While it leans on familiar romance tropes, its execution feels fresh and emotionally rewarding. The pros-witty banter, sexy slow burn, and lovable characters-far outweigh its minor drawbacks.
This novel is best for adult readers (18+) who love cozy, spicy monster romances and crave stories where humor meets heart. Whether you're a longtime Lilith Stone fan or new to her world of mythical matchmaking, The Silver Fox Vampire will leave you smiling (and maybe blushing).
I felt like the subplot of the mystery in the book as more interesting than the main plot. I was also left with more questions than answers when it came to Clare's family history and how fast everything was solved and everyone moved on so fast. The more interesting subplot of the missing humans, family history, and the bad guys history needed more details and time bc the love part we as readers knew what was gonna happen. It was a bittersweet ending to the story having so many questions left over. Definitely worth reading but not my fave in this series

THE SILVER FOX VAMPIRE is a spicy, cozy-ish romance with mystery and intrigue and hot chemistry that follows the relationship between human detective Clare Doyle and grumpy vampire detective Oliver Hale, both of whom have a complicated past with each other but struggle to deny their attraction. As they meet again after 3 years to solve a case of disappearing humans, Clare and Oliver have to work together while fighting their chemistry to get the humans back in this world of monsters.
I am a DIEHARD fan of Lilith Stone, so when I saw this ARC opportunity I just couldn't pass it up, and now, I will die with Lilith Stone support on my gravestone. The world of Motham City is just too intriguing to pass up, and Stone does an amazing job creating this world, justifying the actions and law system, and combining monsters and humans. I am absolutely in awe of her world. It feels genuine and it truly makes sense, and every part, from the police force to the detectives to sports and even the different sections of the city come together to form a society that feels like I'm not being forced to swallow information.
Stone's writing style is perfect, with third-person simplicity that helps me understand Clare and Oliver's characters, backstories, feelings, and chemistry! I love third-person in writing, and Stone did outstanding work creating the characters as individuals and a couple.
Clare was my favorite FMC! She was sweet and brave, but she wasn't afraid to tell Oliver her feelings and confront him after what he did to her. I loved that she was mature about it, though, and even her childish moments didn't feel too immature . Clare wanted to spite Oliver, to make him feel her pain, but she didn't do it childishly. She confronted him, she still maintained professional decorum, and she handled her feelings where it felt like this was lovers-to-enemies-to-lovers done right!
I felt so deeply for Oliver! His past and struggles to be with Clare while controlling his bloodlust made me understand his reasons and it didn't quite feel like gaslighting as described in the triggers. The banter he held with Clare was amazing and his feelings for her were so sweet to read; the poor man was really trying to hold himself together for Clare! We love a man smitten 🥰
My favorite part of this book, unlike what most movies and TV shows do, was that Clare and Oliver knew HOW to manage their feelings while remaining professional and continuing the case, so that the flow of the story continued without feeling like it was dragging! A lot of TV shows drag out these emotional lines, but Stone did an incredible job weaving it with the plot, advancing every intimate moment between Clare and Oliver WITH the mystery, not against it or as a separate thread.
I do wish that Clare and Oliver had met earlier in the story. I think the flashback in the first few chapters was good so that we understood their history and got to understand their dynamic, but Clare and Oliver don't really meet until Chapter 10, and I wish they met sooner. In the middle, the pace kind of dragged for a bit, but overall, I did enjoy that each chapter held some meaning to the plot, and it gave pieces to the entire story! I kind of wished that Oliver had gone to see Matteus's mother sooner, or Clare had met Emmaline sooner, as those points felt dragged out, but otherwise, I loved everything!
I highly, HIGHLY recommend this book and all other of Lilith Stone's books! This is a MUST READ and I swear, you won't want to leave Motham City!
Clare works in the Tween PD but a new case in her old unit in Mothem is really heating up. Missing humans are adding up but she says that she likes the quieter pace. The new chief of Mothem asks her to come back and help but no way could she go back and work with Oliver again. When a childhood friend comes up missing, the woman's mother comes and asks her, she can't say no.
Oliver had to leave Mothem PD, it was for the best. Yet dreams of Clare still wake him up at night. It wasn't the job that he missed, it was her. When he receives a call from his old friend to help on a new case, at first he says no. But when his friend makes a personal appearance and tells him some details of the case, the vampire changes his mind. Could it be that his old nemesis is back to his old ways?
Neither of them can believe that they are seeing each other in the office again. But no matter what they felt, what history is between them, they had a job to do.
But can he run from his past and stay away from her long enough to get the job done?
When Clare is in danger, he'll do whatever he needs to do to keep her safe.
Talk about two people who truly need each other! I was really pulled in and what both of them went through in their past pulled at my heartstrings.
Thank you to BookSirens and the author for a copy of this book.
The Silver Fox Vampire was another fun visit to Motham City. Clare and Oliver’s dynamic had some great banter and tension. Their chemistry walks that perfect line between teasing and tender, and the way their professional partnership keeps colliding with their personal history made this one hard to put down.
The mystery side of the story is strong, too. Disappearing humans, dark secrets, and an undercurrent of danger keep the pace tight and the stakes high without ever overshadowing the romance. Lilith Stone’s trademark mix of humor, heart, and heat is here in full force, and the world of Motham City still feels vibrant and alive. A smart, steamy, and entertaining monster romance that proves even a centuries-old vampire can still make your pulse race.
Detective Clare Doyle and Vampire Dectective Sargent Oliver Hale have a past history that may or may not become an issue when they are brought together again years later to work on a case together in Motham City.
I enjoyed this eighth book of the series, The Silver Fox Vampire as much as I did returning to Motham City for another entertaining, adventure as I followed along while they try to solve the case of the missing humans, while resisting the pull that has reignited between them. Oliver walked away once, will he again?
Nice writing, with good characterizations, spice, surprises, mystery, intrigue, drama, action and excellent world building combined together in a solidly captivating, and steamy romantic read.

🌶 🌶.5 (more plot than spice, but the spice was caliente)
This book exceeded my expectations. This is the 1st book I have read by Lilith Stone. I was hoping for a book to make me laugh and swoon. I was not prepared for the action, good character building, great pacing, and slowburn spice. I ate this book up and read it in one day. This was the best palette cleanser and I want to read the other stand-alones in this world.
Stone brings depth to the human and monster characters making it feel more realistic and easy to connect to characters. The spice was well crafted and balanced which adds to the believeability to the plot. The pacing of the story was brilliant.

A past love resurfaces and has the demon fighting off his own Demons of jealousy and possession!! A fine thread of love and connection remains. Will it be nurtured to grow into an unbreakable bond or disintegrate into dust. A human and a demon?? They find out secrets about Clare and she's in high demand with his enemies and in danger. This was a rollercoaster of emotions, but the last one was peace and serenity. Check out all the ghastly creatures and the human blood slaves- can they be saved?? Will Clare and Oliver ever get their hea? I voluntarily read a free copy of this book provided by book sirens and am giving an honest review.
The book started off so well and I loved the angst between the MCs. Clare was such a strong character and Oliver had grovelling to do. I enjoyed Clare standing her ground and not giving in until much later.
However, the second half completely ruined the plot for me. Once they got together the dialogues became cringey and conflict resolution was so rushed. The coincidences were a bit too frequent and the prophecy came out of nowhere.
Would’ve enjoyed it more if the MCs stayed consistent throughout.
Thank you BookSiren for the ARC. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This story is dual POV, well written and edited, and a steamy, enemies-to-lovers, second chance, male vampire detective (Oliver)/female human detective (Clare), fantasy romance. I enjoyed the banter between the characters. I empathised with historical trauma, especially Oliver’s. I enjoyed the acknowledgement that therapy is sometimes a real necessity. I enjoyed the steamy intimate moments. I enjoyed the non-romance plot. I enjoyed Clare’s determination to be an active part of the solution and Oliver’s acceptance and, later, enjoyment of her equality.
I received a complimentary copy from the author and this is my voluntary honest review.
Best One Yet!!! This story had it all; suspense, romance, mystery, heat, and love all woven expertly together in a fantastic plot!
I have enjoyed reading all of Lilith’s Motham City Monster books but this one is my favourite so far!!! That being said, you don’t have to have read any others to enjoy this one. It is a stand alone. Although some of the other characters are mentioned, their stories play no part in this one.
If you love monster romance, this book is for you!!
This is now my favourite in the Gotham series, and Grayson and Maisie were always hard to beat. However, Clare and Oliver are amazing together. They're both flawed, too, and Oliver might have been a prick once... yet their relationship and chemistry flow so well you want them together, forever.
My only criticism, per se, is that I wish the action and solving of the main issue had been longer and richer.
I look forward to the next one!!!

-A witty, spicy paranormal romance set in the vibrant world of Motham City. I received a free copy and am voluntarily sharing my honest thoughts.
Detectives Clare and Oliver reunite after years apart, their chemistry reigniting amid danger and mystery. The blend of second-chance romance, supernatural intrigue, and humor keeps the story irresistible.
Enchanting, clever, and full of heart—another delightful gem in Stone’s monster romance universe.
This book was a page turner from beginning to end. Loved Clare and Oliver. They were opposites yet drawn to each other. Both leaving the Motham police force after a one night brief encounter. They both return to solve a series of human abductions. Past traumatic events have caused them to not trust their true feelings for each other. Threats to the survival of their world, have them working together and facing their fears. Loved it

I love returning to Motham City! As a fan of detective novels and tv shows, this story was right up my alley. Clare and Oliver had a very intriguing case to solve and their tension and history made this book so delicious! I also liked learning more about the vampire history in Motham City in this book. We’ve encountered vampires in previous books but I liked getting more vampire specific Motham city lore in this one! This book had a little of everything in it- the mystery, romance, drama/tension, etc.
I really enjoy vampire stories and this one was so very good! They have a past due to one passionate night spent together. He left the city but still dreams of her. When they are both asked to come back and work together to solve a new case, they realize feelings are still there. Can they navigate the case and their personal feelings? Is this his nemesis back? Very well-written, great characters, engrossing story, really enjoyed this story. Now I need to read all of her other books in this series!!!
loved it !! love this series !! love Clare and Oliver… this is their story… a fast paced rom/com drama… women are missing… they both left the Motham PD, now, they are both back , working together… they have history… they worked together and they had a night together… both can't forget and now they are back !! she's human, he's a 200 year old vampire… they have to find the missing females.. an old nemesis… so good !!! It was ok? The start was really good. I loved the tension between them, but then immediately jumped to I love you way too fast. Parts of the dialog felt cringe, especially towards the end which kind of made it hard to finish. I really liked this series, but this one was a little too cliché. I felt like there were a lot of plot points that were completely unnecessary and made it feel forced and distracted from the flow of the book.
This was a great read. I couldn’t put it down! I’ve read some of the other books in the series, but not all of them - I’m going back to catch up now! You don’t need to read the other books to enjoy this one.
If you like a little blood sucking spice with your romance mystery, and don’t mind a little age gap, this is the book for you!

This is one of those books that is a sweet romance, with some serious tension and spice. I love no-nonsense Clare. She is witty, loyal and winds up Oliver as much as she can. Oliver is serious, lonely and is in desperate need to relax. Boy, oh boy, their banter delivers. It is so funny and as a reader, keeps you on your toes. Their tension, long looks and chemistry is off the charts. Once I started reading this book I could not put it sown. It is an excellent read.
The Silver Fox Vampire Book 8 in Motham City Monsters Series by Lilith Stone can be read as a standalone. A very enjoyable "monster" romance, lots of chemistry, enemies to lovers, great characters and worldbuilding. This is the first book I've read in the series and now I need to read the previous books. Recommend.

They were attracted to each other, but when it got hot and heavy, he ran then she ran. Coming back to solve kidnappings, brought them together and they eventually acknowledged their feelings for each other and solved the case. I have really enjoyed all the books in this series and I like it that characters show up from other books. Great characters and storylines in all the books. And they all get a HEA.
I love books that Lilith Stone writes! Her books are fast paced, fun, easy reads. I read this one in about two days and I'm sad it's over. Silver Fox Vampire is a great title and I loved all of the silver the author waved into this story. I won't get into anything but the ending…..Wow! Perfect!

This book was only my second in the Mothman City Monsters series, but I enjoyed it and didn’t feel as though I was missing out. I thought the characters were well written and the story kept me interested. I’m not sure it convinced me to pick up more books in the series, but it was a fun read, especially during the Halloween season.
I’ve liked the other books in the series, but this one was not subtle. Frankly, it was an almost childishly simple plot. Good vs evil vampires, our heroes have zero plan- they just go and by their powers combined, defeat evil! Happily ever after. Hearts.
The author was up too late watching classic cartoons when they wrote this one.
