I loved the first book, MILES IN TIME, and was happy to get to book 2. I loved it just as much. This is a really fun series. In this book, Miles and his brother Simon, travel back in time to 1999, to save their mom. Her mental health is declining. They want to rescue her from her abusive home, which led her down a dark path. Can they rewrite her present life? I loved their journey to save their family and mom's future. A great story of healing and growth, and a little bit of first time romance. The mystery and suspense was fun too. Overall, a quick, enjoyable read for kids or adults who enjoy an escape from the world into the world of kids.
Thank you to the author, publisher and Suzy approved book tours for the gifted copy. All opinions are my own.
Simon and Miles are on a mission to save their mother. Their plan? Travel back to 1999 and rewrite their family’s history so she can have the life she deserved. As Simon puts the final touches on his time machine, he warns Miles not to reveal anything about it to anyone.
But Miles, caught up in the excitement of his first relationship, spills everything to his girlfriend, Maisie. The problem? Maisie has deep ties to Omni—the sinister corporation that once tried to kill Simon to steal his invention. Did Miles make a terrible mistake by trusting her?
One of the highlights of the book is the way Miles and Simon speak in their private Okoboji language—it adds a personal and charming touch to their bond. The author’s vocabulary is well-suited for young adult readers, and the storyline is both engaging and emotionally resonant.
After finishing this book, you’ll find yourself eager to dive into more of Goldberg’s work.
This books had me feeling all the emotions. I even cried. I can’t wait to see more adventures of Simon and Miles, if they keep coming. I got this book early and can’t wait till everyone else can enjoy it too!!!!
In Time Fixers, the emotional core of the story deepens, as teenage detective Miles and his once-doomed scientist brother Simon travel back to 1999,not to stop a murder this time, but to rewrite the painful history of their family. A deeply personal and emotionally intelligent sequel that combines the intrigue of time travel with the healing power of family, growth, and understanding. Time Fixers is a coming of age journey wrapped in a second chance, both for its characters and its readers. I want to thank the author for including me as an ARC reader and giving me the chance to experience this story ahead of its June 3rd release. I couldn’t recommend it enough, it’s moving, meaningful, and full of heart.
After thoroughly enjoying Miles in Time, I had high hopes for its sequel and Time Fixers absolutely delivers. This second installment not only lives up to the original but deepens the story with a richer plot, higher emotional stakes, and continued character growth that makes it a standout in YA fiction.
Set once again in the small town of Frontier, Iowa, the book quickly raises the stakes when brothers Miles and Simon Hardy face their most personal mission yet: traveling back to 1999 to save their mother from a traumatic past that set her life on a tragic course. The emotional core of this story, the brothers’ fierce determination to protect their mom, gives Time Fixers its powerful heart. Their sibling bond is both believable and moving, adding real depth to the fast-paced, twisty plot.
Lee Mathew Goldberg expertly balances genres, blending time-travel sci-fi, mystery, and emotional coming-of-age moments into a story that feels fresh and surprisingly profound. There’s humor, danger, nostalgia, and a compelling mystery that draws you in deeper with every chapter. And while the stakes are high, the plot remains easy to follow, never bogged down by its complexity.
One of the things I appreciated most is how the characters have matured since book one. Miles, in particular, faces difficult moral choices, including where his loyalties lie and who he can trust. His developing feelings, complicated friendships, and the looming threat of their grandfather’s connection to a powerful corporation make for a layered and engaging narrative.
Time Fixers also continues a thread introduced in the first book, with Miles exploring his romantic identity. While in Miles in Time this aspect felt briefly included, it becomes more integrated into the plot here.
⚠️ Content note: For readers who prefer to avoid romantic subplots involving bisexual themes in YA fiction, it plays a meaningful role in character development.
That said, the romantic angle doesn’t overshadow the emotional depth or the core themes of family, sacrifice, and self-discovery. It’s handled thoughtfully and remains in balance with the rest of the story.
If you liked Miles in Time, you won’t be disappointed with Time Fixers. And if you’re new to the series, start with book one, but know that the sequel is where the story truly hits its stride.
As BookHookup, I am a longtime book reviewer. I received a free review copy of this book from Blackberry Book Tours and have not received compensation for reviewing or recommending it.
This was the second book of Lee Mathew Goldberg that I got to try! It follows on from the story Miles in Time.
I enjoyed it a lot! All the characters that were involved in the first were in the second (plus some bonus characters). The second was pretty much answering all the questions we got from book one!
I think I personally enjoyed Book One much more as it really focused on Simon and Mike’s relationship. This one was much more plot based with lots of missions.
I enjoyed the plotting and I did think all the relationships in the book were appropriate for the story. However, the character development was a little less in depth due to the focus being on the plot.
I would have liked to see more of the relationship between Mike’s Mum and Grandma, seeing as it was such an important turning point in their lives. I would have also liked to have seen more of Simon!
I also think that perhaps it needed more in depth reasoning as to why the characters did certain things- such as why did Miles string along Maisie? Why did Miles do certain things in the past that were very out of character?
Nevertheless, this book seemed like it finished the series and I was a little sad! I was getting invested in Mile’s life!
I was excited to continue on the adventure.. and what an adventure it is!
Book 2 jumps right back into the story and now that Miles has saved his brother's life, he returns to his normal, quiet and of course boring at times life in Frontier, Iowa. The quiet life doesn't last long when the brothers see that they're Mom is having a rapid mental decline, connected to a dark past. Simon and Miles decide to use the time machine and go back to 1999 to help place their Mom on a better path to give her a brighter future, what could go wrong? Turns out Miles makes a mistake and tells his girlfriend Maisie everything, with ties to the Omni corporation, did Miles put not just the mission in jeopardy but his loved ones lives in danger?!
It was such fun to see the relationship with Simon and Miles, they are so bonded and the interactions are genuine and charming. I am a 90's kid myself and the author brings the decade to life with fun descriptions that all kids from that time will really connect to. The plot moves along at a quick pace with an engaging mystery full of twists. The author really strikes a perfect balance with this story to appeal to both kids and adults!
Okay. I need to take a breath. This book truly had me on the edge of my seat and on such a rollercoaster of emotions.
At first Miles had me fuming because it was so blatantly obvious that something was going on when the texts from Maisie didn’t end with a smiley face like they always did but did detective Miles figure it out? No, no he didn’t.
As the Book went on I started getting so annoyed with Maisie the way she kept throwing tantrums killed me but in the end she helped them and her feelings were valid looking at the bigger picture.
The plot twist??? I was shocked I did not figure out who the bad guy was until he exposed himself, I was sad for Miles but so shocked. I stopped reading at that point to absorb what on earth just happened.
I loved the ending I sobbed just a little at the reveals of who ended up being part of their present lives.
I need more from Lee 😅 Adding you to my auto buy/ read authors. I hope more people find this book,

Lee Matthew Goldberg transforms the interesting genre of sci-fi into something marvellous. The first book in this series, Miles in Time creates mystery and an exciting start to an adventure. Its amazing sequel, Time Fixers brings more surprises, drama and dangers as the brothers travel further into the past to rescue their mother this time. Their efforts to heal broken hearts and change the past however, may or may not be successful. Great read!
i loved this book ! such a quick easy read. it picked up from book one, and they go back in time to try to fix their mom so they can have both their parents in their life. it was honestly so sweet even though that wasn’t the main purpose of the book. they took all the risks to go back in time to fix their mother so they could all have the lives they deserved.
Ever wondered what it would be like to correct the one moment you regret most? In Time Fixers, Lee Matthew Goldberg entwines tender emotion, playful banter, and a ticking clock to deliver a journey that feels deeply personal and remarkably inventive.
Miles and Simon Hardy anchor the story with a chemistry that rings true from their first pages together. Miles grapples with the stark reality of his mother’s declining health, forced to watch her struggle as she enters a care facility. Simon, armed with sharp sarcasm and relentless optimism, propels their daring plan: to voyage back to 1999 and shield their teenage mother from the trauma that shaped her future. Their exchanges crackle with authenticity, whether they’re arguing over the risks of erasing entire timelines or teasing each other about outdated fashions.
Then there’s Maisie, a fierce friend who insists on joining the mission. Her quick instincts, loyalty under fire, and no-nonsense attitude add a fresh dimension. She’s the one who patches worn-out wires at midnight, cheers Miles on when doubts seep in, and challenges Simon to see past his “nothing can go wrong” bravado. Constellations of supporting characters—like a mysterious new crush with questionable motives and a grandfather who now bankrolls a shadowy corporation—give the plot unexpected twists and raise the stakes beyond family ties.
The late-’90s backdrop jumps off the page: Discmen buzzing in locker-lined halls, mixtape covers scrawled in marker, and suburban streets glowing under streetlamps. Time travel isn’t treated as a simple trick here. When the brothers fire up their makeshift device and hurtle toward the past, you can feel the weight of each alteration. Goldberg examines how a single decision can ripple across decades, reshaping identity, loyalty, and what remains nonnegotiable.
At its core, Time Fixers is a reflection on love’s power to rewrite our fear of loss. It balances moments of genuine laughter—Simon’s dry one-liners had me grinning—with sobering insights into mental health, family bonds, and the ethical cost of tampering with history. The tension peaks when Grandpa’s corporate agenda emerges, forcing Miles to confront a lesson no workshop manual can teach: that sometimes protecting someone means accepting the consequences of your own choices.
For blog readers, book clubs, and anyone who enjoys a blend of heartfelt drama and clever twists, this novel is a gem. It celebrates friendship, showcases bravery in the face of impossible odds, and reminds us that no clock, however ingenious, can measure the lengths we’d go for our loved ones. I’m thrilled to give Time Fixers a full five-star recommendation—you’ll want to mark your calendars for this unforgettable adventure.
Time Fixers by Lee Matthew Goldberg is the second book in the Miles In Time series, a captivating YA time-travel mystery that explores themes of family, redemption, and the power of second chances. Although this book can be read as a standalone, it feels like revisiting old friends, with characters that are as endearing as they are memorable. Goldberg’s storytelling is steady and fluid, making the journey through time an effortless experience. In Time Fixers, we follow Miles, who has noticeably matured since the first book, despite only a year having passed. His growth is evident—not just in age, but in his mindset and sense of responsibility. He takes on the role of protector with determination, striving to right past wrongs in the hope of securing a better future. Goldberg has crafted a well-rounded protagonist in Miles, one whose courage and determination are as inspiring as they are heartfelt. It's impossible not to root for him as he navigates the complexities of time travel with his brother and the dilemmas it presents. The novel masterfully weaves elements of suspense and surprise, with plenty of twists and turns that kept me guessing right until the very end. These unpredictable shifts not only add layers of drama to the plot but also highlight the stakes involved in altering the past. Goldberg’s ability to blend emotional depth with high-paced action makes Time Fixers a compelling read from start to finish. One of the standout elements of the book is its exploration of family and the lengths one will go to protect and restore those bonds. This emotional core adds weight to the time-travel narrative, grounding it in relatable human experiences. Whether it’s the connection between parents and children or the loyalty shared among friends, Goldberg captures these relationships with authenticity and heart. Overall, Time Fixers is a thrilling continuation of the Miles In Time series that perfectly balances adventure and emotion. Lee Matthew Goldberg’s ability to craft well-developed characters within a fast-paced, time-twisting plot is impressive. Fans of YA mysteries and time travel adventures will find much to love in this gripping sequel, and it certainly leaves you eager to see where Miles’ journey through time will take him next.
Time Fixers: A YA Time Travel Mystery (Miles In Time Book 2) By Lee Matthew Goldberg Publisher: Wise Wolf Books Published Date: June 3, 2025 ASIN: B0F643RXQ8 Page Count: 230 Triggers: Parental mental illness, emotional trauma, toxic family dynamics, time travel headaches, teen heartbreak, pre-Y2K paranoia Star Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
What Did I Just Walk Into? Back to the future? More like back to 1999 with a Discman and emotional baggage. After cracking his brother’s murder and rewriting history like it’s fanfiction, Miles Hardy is back and ready to fix everything again, this time including his mom’s tragic past. Cue boy-band posters, JNCO jeans, and trauma. He and his brother Simon time hop to rescue their teenage mother before her life takes a nosedive into generational dysfunction. Naturally, there’s a sinister tech corporation, a morally shady grandpa, and a girl who may or may not be part of the problem. And let’s not forget the burning question: Can you save the past without nuking your own existence?
Here’s What Slapped: The 90s setting is pitch-perfect without turning into a gimmick. Think mood rings with emotional consequences. Miles is a solid protagonist who somehow pulls off being both clueless and insightful at the same time. The dialogue actually sounds like teenagers and not 40-year-olds pretending to be teens. Every chapter adds more depth to the mystery, the characters, and the gut punches. Plus, the time travel rules make sense, which feels like a miracle. Big themes like trauma, mental health, and loyalty are handled with heart and just enough snark.
What Could’ve Been Better: Honestly? Not much. Maybe a warning label for the emotional whiplash. If you came in expecting light teen hijinks, you might be clutching your feelings by chapter five. Also, if you skipped book one, you’ll still keep up, but you’ll miss some solid context and character growth.
Perfect for Readers Who Love: YA books with emotional teeth, time travel that won’t make your brain melt, sibling loyalty that actually matters, and a nostalgic trip that doesn’t sugarcoat the past.

This was such a fun one! While I was fairly young in 99 (8 years old), it was still so fun to see how many things I recognized from this time period. It definitely made me feel nostalgic! I also loved the storyline this one included. It was all about Miles and his brother going back to try and save their mother, which felt both sweet and noble all at once. If you read and enjoyed book one, Miles in Time, then you’ll absolutely love this follow up! It’ll have you laughing and smiling the whole way through!
As a devoted dog mom who can’t resist a good book, I sank into Time Fixers like my Labrador into his favorite squeaky toy—completely smitten. Picture this: my pup curled at my feet, ears perked, as I followed Miles and Simon Hardy on their heartfelt mission through late-’90s hallways. Their bond felt as genuine as the one I share with my four-legged companion—unwavering loyalty mixed with playful nudges to keep going.
Miles carries the weight of his mother’s wellbeing with the same gentle determination my rescue pup shows when nursing a broken paw. Simon’s cheeky wit is like that moment when your dog steals a sock and bounces around, daring you to chase him—pure joy wrapped in mischief. And then there’s Maisie: a steadfast friend whose courage reminds me of my own pup bravely facing the vacuum cleaner every morning.
Goldberg’s description of Discmen humming in lockers and the buzz of pre-Y2K anxiety had me picturing my dog tilting her head at the radio static, curious and ready for adventure. When the brothers fire up their time machine, the excitement is as contagious as a pup’s happy dance, yet the author never loses sight of the tender moments—like soothing a panicked dog in a thunderstorm, you feel the urgency and the care underpinning each choice.
What truly warms my heart is how this story treats family. Just as I’d stroll through the park with my pup by my side, Miles and Simon navigate risks with compassion. The twists—especially Grandpa’s hidden agenda—had me sitting up, ears alert, eager to see how loyalty and love would ultimately guide them home.
For fellow dog enthusiasts and book lovers alike, Time Fixers is a perfect walk in the park: comforting, spirited, and full of surprises. Five barking-good stars from this reader (and her faithful companion)!
"Time Fixers" is such a fun read that takes you back to the ‘90s. I love how it dives into the nostalgia of that time—everything from the music and fashion to the whole Y2K panic vibe makes the story feel alive and vibrant. The focus is mainly on Miles, his brother Simon, and their mom, which gives it this heartfelt family angle.
At the core of the plot, you have these boys wanting to mend the pain in their family that’s been lingering for years. Goldberg does an amazing job of making their feelings and conversations feel so real and relatable. Miles faces typical teenage stuff like trying to stay loyal to his family, dealing with crushes, getting into fights with Simon, and trying to cope with some heavy emotions like sadness and loss. It’s all stuff that a lot of us can relate to, so you get where he’s coming from.
But while I enjoyed the nostalgic scenes, I found the sci-fi elements of the story a bit lacking. Time travel is a big part of the plot, but it feels pretty loose. They mention this time machine that lets Miles and Simon jump back to 1999, but it doesn't explain how it works. There aren’t any clear rules about the mechanics of time travel, what the limits are, or what happens when they change something in the past. It’s just something you kind of have to accept to keep the story moving along.
When they do make changes to the past, the effects are pretty minimal and mostly focus on their mom, Simon, and their grandfather. It would have been interesting if the book explored how those changes could ripple out and affect society or history as a whole, but that’s not the case here. Overall, the story has a warm, nostalgic vibe, blending heartfelt family moments with a touch of time-travel fun. However, I found myself a bit disappointed that the sci-fi elements didn't delve into the potential causes and effects more deeply.

Miles is back in this second instalment of Miles in time and unfortunately, his mum's health is getting worse. We learned in the first book that she had a pretty rough life which has led to her current health issues now, and his dad now faces a hard decision as to whether to put her in a health facility where she can be cared for or keep her at home.
Simon is desperately trying to get his time machine ready enough to be able to travel back far enough (safely) to be able to change their mum's life before it changes for the worse. This time Maisie tags along for the journey for better or worse.
Will they succeed? Will Miles be able to change the trajectory of their mum's life so that she can be happy and healthy? And who else might they be able to save from the past? 😍
This book is full of 90s nostalgia taking me right down memory lane with it, and chapter 38 had me in tears so have your tissues at the ready, but all round this was an amazing read full of adventure, young love, self-discovery, friendships and family 🖤
There are only a handful of books that truly compel you to revisit them—and Time Fixers by Lee Matthew Goldberg is definitely one of them. Packed with time travel, mystery, and the sharp detective instincts of its young protagonist, Miles, this story is a thrilling adventure from start to finish.
Miles Hardy is a thoughtful and kind-hearted teenager who deeply cares for his family. His mother has been struggling with the lingering pain of a traumatic childhood, and the haunting memories of her past continue to affect her present. Despite his father’s best efforts to support her, her episodes—like tilting her head back and howling like a wolf—led him to admit her to the Piece of Mind Center, located on the way to Chicago.
Determined to give their mother a chance at a better life, Miles and his brother Simon hatch a bold plan. With the help of Simon’s time machine, they set out to rewrite the painful history that still holds her captive. But can they really change the past?
Lee Matthew Goldberg masterfully keeps the reader hooked. I ended up binge-reading the entire book on a Friday night, completely immersed in its imaginative world. It was so captivating that returning to real life felt like a letdown. With vivid characters and a powerful narrative, Goldberg delivers a truly unforgettable story.
Old-school charm with plot twists, and Time Fixers delivers both in spades. Picture this: you’re flipping through a stack of ’90s mixtapes, each track reviving that electric buzz of Y2K jitters, only to stumble upon a hidden cut that changes the entire vibe. That’s exactly how Lee Matthew Goldberg’s novel unfolds.
Miles and Simon Hardy feel like childhood pals reunited after years apart—one carrying the burden of his mother’s fading memory, the other armed with sharp wit that had me chuckling out loud. When they fire up their makeshift time machine to rescue their teenage mom, the stakes skyrocket from high school drama to a full-blown race against a corporate villain lurking in the shadows. Maisie’s fierce loyalty cuts through the tension; she’s the ultimate sidekick, always ready to MacGyver a solution or lend a steady hand.
What struck me most was how every flipped detail in the past ripples forward, reshaping family ties and personal identity. Moments of genuine warmth—brothers sharing late-night confessions, whispered pep talks before a risky jump through time—sit alongside edge-of-your-seat reveals about a grandfather’s hidden agenda.
Whether you’re a ’90s aficionado or a newcomer craving heartfelt adventure, Time Fixers earns every one of its five stars. It’s the kind of story that makes you press rewind, eager to relive each thrilling moment.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ — Time Fixers (Miles in Time #2) — A Thrilling and Nostalgic Follow-Up! -
The saga continues! Miles and Simon are back, racing against the clock—literally—to make it to 1999, save their mom, and give themselves (and some friends they meet along the way) a shot at a better future.
This sequel takes everything I loved from Miles in Time and builds on it. The mystery is sharp, the stakes feel higher, and the twists? Oh, they got me. More than once. I loved that the story doesn’t just rehash the same beats as book one—it feels like a natural progression, with new dangers, surprising reveals, and deeper emotional moments.
One of my favorite aspects is the way it blends two distinct eras: the modern setting of 2024 and the vivid throwback to 1999. As a 90’s kid myself, the little nods to the era hit just right and gave the story an extra layer of charm. The pacing is tight, the plot is unpredictable, and the characters are easy to root for.
Much like the first book, I ended up binging this in a single day because there’s simply no good stopping point—you always want to know what’s coming next. It’s the prime example of what a YA mystery should be: addictive, clever, and just a little bit dangerous.
If you love time travel mysteries with heart, suspense, and a dash of nostalgia, this series is an absolute must.
✨Time Fixers by Lee Matthew Goldberg✨(Book Tour Review)
Summary: Miles returns in book 2 of the Miles In Time series for an all-new adventure. With his brother (Simon) and girlfriend (Maisie) in tow, Miles attempts his most ambitious mission yet — breaking the cycle of generational trauma. Sent back to the 90’s to save his mom and perhaps the world as we know it, Miles will have to navigate love, high school, and the timeless challenge of being 15.
This book surprised me! It’s a YA adventure/sci-fi novel that has a lot of heart. Goldberg managed to explore difficult, mature themes while keeping his teen characters acting like teens. The characters are realistically out of their depths in navigating both time travel and relationships which makes for an interesting story.
Miles’ motivation for completing the mission (saving his mom from lifelong trauma) was compelling and heartfelt. I appreciated the thoughtful approach of how time travel works in the universe of the story — it made logical sense without getting bogged down in overly complicated explanations. Lastly, I can’t let the 90s references go unmentioned! The running Creed bit made me laugh.
📖This might be your next read if:
☀️ You like Back to the Future ☀️ You crave some 90s nostalgia ☀️ You would use time travel to save the ones you love from harm
I was genuinely impressed by how well Lee Matthew Goldberg pulled off Time Fixers. The premise of two brothers using time travel to help their struggling mother could have felt contrived, but it actually worked really well.
What struck me most was how naturally the 1999 setting came alive. The author nailed all those late 90s details without making it feel forced or overly nostalgic. It transported me right back to that era in an authentic way.
Miles continues to be a compelling protagonist who's clearly grown since the first book. You can feel the weight of responsibility he carries for his family, and his relationships feel genuine rather than just plot devices.
The mystery elements kept me guessing, and I appreciated that the stakes felt personal and real. This isn't about preventing some world-ending catastrophe - it's about a family trying to heal from generational trauma, which somehow makes it more urgent and relatable.
Goldberg manages to weave together family drama, teen romance, and sci-fi adventure without shortchanging any of it. If you enjoyed the first book, this one definitely delivers. Even as a standalone, it's a solid reminder of why time travel stories work best when they focus on the human elements.
Time Fixers is the second installment in the Miles in Time series, and it dives even deeper into the emotional and adventurous world of time travel.
In this book, Miles and his older brother Simon set out on a mission through time to rewrite their family’s past and give their mother a chance at a better life. Joined by Miles’ girlfriend Maisie, the trio believes that getting close to their grandfather and his company might be the key to changing their family’s future. But as often happens with time travel, nothing goes quite according to plan. Their journey to 1999 leads them into intense, sometimes dangerous situations—but nothing can keep them stuck in the past forever.
This sequel feels more emotionally intense than the first book. It explores heavier themes like the abusive household their mother endured, while still delivering moments of humor, relationship and friendship dynamics, and fast-paced adventure. There’s mystery, suspense, and a wonderfully heartfelt ending—with a little surprise twist that was my favorite part of the book.
If you enjoy teen-led time-travel stories packed with mystery and emotion, Time Fixers is one you don’t want to miss.
Miles Hardy and his scientist brother, Simon, embark on a journey back to the year 1999 — a time when their mother was still a child. That year marked a turning point for their family: their grandfather lost his job, setting off a chain of abuse that affected generations. By traveling through time, the brothers hope to prevent that job loss and rewrite their family’s painful history.
Simon insists on keeping their mission completely secret. If Omni — the ruthless corporation that once tried to kill him — learns about the time machine, it could put their mother’s life in jeopardy. Yet, despite urging Miles not to tell anyone, Miles confides in his girlfriend, Maisie.
Can they really go back twenty-five years without putting themselves at risk? Adding to the urgency, Miles’ mother was later institutionalized at the Piece of Mind Center in Illinois by her own father. This gripping novel explores how far two brothers will go to protect their mother. With vivid settings that transport you straight into Miles' world and a protagonist who leaves a lasting impression, it’s a compelling read you won’t want to put down.
Fans of YA time travel mysteries won’t want to miss Lee Matthew’s latest release, Time Fixers. The story follows Detective Miles Hardy who’s about to enter tenth grade. Though his detective agency is used to the slow pace of his small Iowa town, everything changes when a major case lands in his lap.
Miles' brother Simon confides in him about a time machine—and swears him to secrecy. Together, they plan a journey back to 1999 with a mission: to prevent their grandfather from losing his job. That pivotal moment in the past triggered a chain of events that led to his abusive behavior and deeply affected their mother’s life. If they can rewrite history, they just might be able to reshape their mom’s present—and bring her home from the Piece of Mind Center in Illinois.
Packed with suspense, this story also has a heartwarming side. It’s endearing to watch Miles navigate his first relationship and making a long-distance connection work. Time Fixers has all the ingredients that teens and YA readers will love—mystery, emotion, adventure, and just the right touch of romance. Lee Matthew’s writing flows effortlessly, and I thoroughly enjoy every book he writes.
Time travel and mystery lie at the heart of this gripping story.
Miles Hardy, on the verge of entering tenth grade, has already accomplished the unthinkable—he traveled back in time and saved the life of his only brother, Simon, the inventor of a time machine. But the danger hasn’t passed. The people who once targeted Simon are still out there.
Sensing the threat, Simon becomes increasingly cautious. He adds extra locks to his bedroom door and relocates his lab to keep the time machine’s details hidden from prying eyes. Though Simon made Miles swear to keep the invention a secret, Miles foolishly confided in his girlfriend, Maisie—a decision that could cost them everything.
Maisie’s father works for Omni, an organization with its sights set on the time machine for their own mysterious agenda. Has Miles just jeopardized the entire mission by revealing the truth?
If you're feeling stuck in the monotony of everyday life, Lee Matthew Goldberg invites you on a thrilling adventure back to 1999 with Miles and Simon. This story is a wild, suspenseful ride—and a well-crafted one at that. Hats off to the author for delivering such a captivating tale.
Miles discovered that his brother Simon had been killed because of a time machine. Determined to change the course of events, he traveled back in time—and succeeded in saving his brother. Now, back in his quiet Iowa hometown for months, Miles is once again waiting for a major case to land on his desk.
Meanwhile, their mother’s deteriorating mental health has become too much for the family to manage at home. On his way to Chicago, their father left her at The Piece of Mind Center in Farley, hoping that specialized care might improve her condition. But Simon and Miles have a different plan. They're delving into their family’s past—specifically the year 1999—intent on using time travel once more, this time to save their mother. It's the only hope they believe they have.
In this novel, Miles is burdened with secrets. The risks are enormous, and one wrong move could cost them dearly.
What truly sets this book apart are its unexpected twists and emotional depth. As you flip through the pages, you’ll feel transported into Miles’ world. If you're a fan of gripping time travel adventures, this is a must-read.
Goldberg’s writing style is truly captivating. He crafts compelling stories for young adults with ease and flair. Time Fixers is the second installment in the series, but it can easily be read as a standalone—thanks to the thoughtful background provided in the opening chapter.
Miles Hardy, a young detective eagerly awaiting his next big case, is about to embark on a mission with his brother Simon. Their goal: travel back to 1999 and rewrite their mother’s past. Despite Simon’s clear stance against involving anyone else—especially Maisie, who has close ties to the shady corporation Omni—Miles confides in her and even invites her to join the mission. He’s driven by concern for her safety while he’s gone, knowing that if anything happens to her, he’ll never forgive himself.
As Simon finalizes the time machine, the tension builds. What twists lie ahead? You’ll be glued to the pages to find out. I was especially drawn in by the smooth, flowing narration—so much so that I read the book in one go.
I highly recommend Time Fixers to fellow readers. It’s a fast-paced and well-written adventure you won’t want to miss.
