Tourist Trap

Rate this book
Bestselling author Morgan Elizabeth delivers Tourist Trap, a small town, age gap, grumpy sunshine, summer romance based in Seaside Point, a shore town in New Jersey.

Claire:
A summer in a tourist trap is exactly what I need. A single summer of fun before I finally buckle down and decide on what I want to do with the rest of my life. So when my best friend suggested I spend the summer as a lifeguard in Seaside Point I jumped at the opportunity.

I was ready for a summer of uncomplicated fun, so imagine my surprise when my ex’s older brother owns the house I want to rent a room in. Not only is Miles the guy I used to have the biggest crush on, he refuses to give me the time of day.

Miles:
I have enough on my plate trying to save up what I need to buy my brother out of the house we inherited by the end of the summer. I definitely don’t need the distraction of my brother’s gorgeous ex prancing around my house. But for some reason I still can’t understand, I agreed to let her rent a room and now she’s prancing around in her little bathing suits, flirting with me endlessly, and making me a summer bucket list because she thinks I can’t have fun.

I don’t mess with tourists, and I surely don’t mess with my brother’s exes, but just like the moon and its effect on tides, I can’t escape her pull on me. Will I be able to survive this summer with her, or will I get distracted and lose it all?

Morgan is a born and raised Jersey girl, living there with her two boys, toddler daughter, and mechanic husband. She’s addicted to iced espresso, barbecue chips, and Starburst jellybeans. She usually has headphones on, listening to some spicy audiobook or Taylor Swift. There is rarely an in between.

Writing has been her calling for as long as she can remember. There’s a framed ‘page one’ of a book she wrote at seven hanging in her childhood home to prove the point. Her entire life she’s crafted stories in her mind, begging to be released but it wasn’t until recently she finally gave them the reigns.

I’m so grateful you’ve agreed to take this journey with me.

💘 grumpy x sunshine
🦀 summer romance
💘 ex's older brother
🦀 small town
💘 bucket list
🦀 age gap

this was such a fun and cute summer romcom!! definitely perfect for all those summery vibes 😙

i liked how they both had been secretly pining for each other for literal YEARS. it was so bittersweet when they both confessed... all the years missed between them but then now they can be together.

their friend group and his mom being their biggest cheerleaders 🥹💗

miles has the biggest soft soft and heart for claire, he acts like a grump to everyone but would do anything to see claire smile. doing her bucket list when all he's cared about was his shop/job. claire and him have such a perfect balance, she brings chaos to his order. and he brings structure to her silliness.

i loved how claire wasn't afraid to be herself and act childish at times, it was so nice to see an adult embrace their inner child not in an immature way but just living her life.

me and claire both loving fruit loops 😛

anyways miles is everything and i adore their relationship

his brother is just such an ass, like goodbye

*there is spice in this book*

We have a new rom-com queen in town!!
This was my first book by Morgan Elizabeth, and I loved it so much that I'm going to read all her previous books. Her writing style is amazing: simple, funny, charming. It reminded me a bit of Lynn Painter: If you enjoyed her books, you're going to love this one!!

Not only does the story explore the sense of family, community, and belonging, but it also explores the pressure of what society expects from us.

⁀➴Before I share with you my thoughts about the story, I want to share with you part of the author's note that completely captured my heart, because I think it's relevant to understand better how Claire migh feel through the pages. I got goosebumps while reading it:
I feel like I spent my entire twenties figuring out what I wanted to do. [...] It's hard to explain to people, especially the older generation, that you don't want to waste your life away doing something you hate when to outsiders, it looks like you're wasting your life trying to find what you love. If you're in a position like Claire, I urge you to keep looking. Try new things, go new places, make new friends. Eventually, you'll stumble into something that you love, something that, when you try it, it feels as natural as breathing, something that consistently makes you happy.

Claire and I share many personality traits: she could easily be my sister. I recently graduated, and now I don't know what to do with my life. Just like her, I'm exploring the world around me, searching for the version of me I want to become.

⁀➴Let's talk about the characters:
In the last year and a half, I think I've read more than a thousand romance novels, and I'm surprised to say this is the first one where neither of the main characters plays too hard to get. Claire is a shameless flirt, who's not afraid to express whatever is on her mind. Miles is a true gentleman, caring, even when he doesn't want to. A man who had to grow up too soon and who now doesn't know how to let loose a little.
Finally, we have two relatable characters that are just like us: normal people. Don't get me wrong, I love stories about billionaires who spoil their loved ones, or morally gray characters. But how comforting it is to read about regular people with normal jobs, who have to work their asses off to get what they want?

⁀➴What's the story about?
Claire graduated and then left her hometown to be in Los Angeles with her narcissistic boyfriend. After they broke up (luckily), she came back home. Now she doesn't know what to do with her life, who she wants to be. And while it's totally ok to be in your twenties and not have your life planned out yet, she feels the pressure of society, of her family, friends, acquaintances. What are they going to think of her if she doesn't find a stable job? (Same Claire, same)
So, she chooses to have of last summer of fun in Seaside Point, where her best friend June lives. Claire plans to figure everything out by the end of summer: little does she know this is the summer that will change her life?
She manages to secure a job for the summer as a lifeguard, and while she works and writes a bucket list of fun activities to do with her friends, she needs a place to stay. What if the place happens to be at Miller's house, her ex's brother, whom she had a crush on?
Miller is facing troubles dealing with his brother Paul for the ownership of the house: He already has enough problems without having Claire, the girl he has loved since he first laid eyes on her six years ago, living under his roof. But how can he say no to her?

If you like:

this is the perfect book for your summer, no doubts about it! If you're going on vacation, heading to the beach to sunbathe, or taking a little trip to Italy, Europe, or whatever location that has endless beaches and summer vibes, make sure to bring this with you! 🏖️☀️🐚🐬🦀

This was such a cute small town summer read with an ex's older brother! The heroine creates a summer bucket list to do together once she moves into his extra bedroom. The hero is grumpy but ends up joining her on her tasks. The ending went a bit too long focusing on external plot once the relationship was solidified, but I really enjoyed this town and the summer romance vibes!

I fear Morgan Elizabeth will always eat.🤷‍♀️ i dont make the rules😋 I love Claire and Miles so much, they were the absolute cutest. And the crossover with evergreen park was everything i needed. I actually thought about giving it 5 stars but because it took me a while to finish it because im really busy with school i couldn’t fully emerge myself into the story. But i still love it so much🤞🤗💌

3.5 stars. Tourist Trap is a fun, summer romance from Morgan Elizabeth! In this one we have ex’s brother, roommates to lovers, forced proximity, summer bucket list, grumpy x sunshine.

Claire decides to spend the summer as a lifeguard in Seaside Point (a shore town in New Jersey). She wants a summer of fun before she settles down to decide what she wants to seriously do with her life. She ends up running into Miles, her ex’s older brother (who always had a thing for her she just didn’t know it) and who is the owner of the house she wants to rent a room from!

Flirting, banter, and just all those summery vibes! I had an audio ALC and the narration from CJ Bloom and Sebastian York was perfection.

* 3⭐️4🌶️
* Claire, seeking a summer of fun before deciding on her future, takes a lifeguard job in the tourist town of Seaside Point. She's surprised to find out that the room she's renting is in the house of Miles, her ex-boyfriend's older brother and someone she used to have a crush on.
* Miles is a hardworking and responsible man who needs to buy his brother out of the house they inherited. He doesn't need the distraction of his brother's ex prancing around, but he finds himself drawn to Claire's carefree nature and infectious enthusiasm.
* The story explores the grumpy/sunshine dynamic as Claire, full of life and joy, tries to get the serious and driven Miles to loosen up and enjoy life, even creating a summer bucket list for them.
* Took awhile for me to get into the book, mostly around the 60%. Claire was a huge flirt and so into herself. Not in a necessarily bad way but the “I know you like me, I’m blonde and I’m hot” type of way.
* Ex’s brother, roommates to lovers, forced proximity, summer bucket list, age gap, grumpy sunshine, ultimate summer vibes

I know most readers will probably like this book but it just wasn’t for me.

Spoilers ‼️

(This review only about the first half of the book).

This book starts about six months after the FMC broke up with her ex (the MMC’s brother). He was in a band (I think?) and she used to travel around with him, not really thinking about the future—just living in the moment and enjoying her life. But after the breakup she realizes she wants more out of life. She needs a real goal, so she decides to spend the summer working in a small town to figure out her next step. And guess what? She ends up renting a place that turns out to be the MMC’s house… and that’s where their story begins.

First off I didn’t enjoy the dynamic between the MCs at all. It was just the FMC constantly flirting with the MMC, telling him he liked her and wanted her, while he kept denying it and then pushing her away or avoiding her for days. They annoyed me most of the time tbh + I really don’t like a guy who won’t go after the girl he wants.

Also I’m not a fan of this type of “sunshine girl” she felt more like a “pick me girl” to me and I just couldn’t connect with her.

The MMC! Didn’t like him much either. I didn’t like how he spent years fighting his feelings for her bc he thought she was too young and immature! Then she ended up dating his brother (I don’t blame her for moving on).
Even in current time, he’s STILL denying his feelings and doing everything he can to avoid her even when things are going great between them. 🤦🏻‍♀️ Everyone knew how he felt about her for years, his friends even his mom… they all told him to go get her from the beginning. But he was too stuck in his own head and way too stubborn.

There’s a moment around the 25% mark that pissed me off bc he was just such a jerk to the FMC. Sure he apologized and made up for it but in that moment, I just wanted to slap him.

And around the 45–50% mark, he kissed the FMC for the first time only to turn around and tell her he didn’t want a serious relationship bc he didn’t have time (and she’s not the casual hookup type). So he avoided her for a week… then came back and kissed her again only bc he got jealous after challenging her to ask another guy out (he thought she wouldn’t actually do it). Then he rejected her again. 😪

I think things start getting better between them after the 50% mark but by that point I was already too tired of all the back and forth. I just didn’t have the energy to keep going with this book.
______

Safety for the first 50% only:

— H (31) / h (25)
— Forbidden (she’s his brother’s ex)
— Roommates to lovers
— Grumpy x Sunshine
— Small town
— No virgins:
╰┈➤ It had been 6~8 months since the h broke up with her ex and she’s been celibate ever since (they’d been together for a year and a half).
╰┈➤ The H never had a serious relationship bc he was always busy (no details about his past other than that and I never got manho vibes from him).
╰┈➤ The H has been celibate for 6 months.
— OMD:
After the H rejected her twice, the h went on a date with OM but she didn’t even like him from the start. Then the H showed up and interrupted their date.
— No ow/scenes with other people
— Push away from the H for the first half of the book

Notes:

The h (Claire) doesn’t actually live in town, she just comes by every now and then to visit her bff who happens to be the H’s bff’s sister. That’s basically how the H and h ended up knowing each other.

The H (Miles) always had a thing for the h since the first time they met and way before she even met his brother (Paul). She was 19 and he was 25 but he totally judged her from the start and saw her as immature and way younger than him! So he missed the chance for them to be together way earlier + I don’t think a 6 year age gap is that big of a deal for him to not make a move. Even in current time and during the first 30% of the book he didn’t stop whining about their “massive age gap” like it’s a real issue 🙄... Sir, it’s just 6 years??

The h had a crush on the H too but none of that really bothered me since she wasn’t hung up on him and had already moved on with her life.

“Though, long before I even met Paul, any time we were at the same place, it was always Miles I would end up chatting with. The few times he was around after Paul and I got together, Miles would hang back with me while his brother was off getting drunk and into some kind of trouble.
At the time, it felt like I was bonding with my boyfriend’s brother, both of us knowing intimately what an idiot he could be. And before that, it felt like Miles spent time with us begrudgingly because he’d tag along with Grant.
With him also being the best friend to my best friend’s brother, we’ve been around each other more times than I can count in the six years I’ve been coming down to Seaside Point, and even though he always acted like I was a nuisance of a girl, always getting into trouble, he always said it with a hint of adoration.”
* * *
“There was a small moment in time when I thought maybe she could be mine, but as always, my brother gets what he wants, or, more accurately, what he knew I wanted, and Claire was no different.”
* * *
“You always had a thing for him, and until Paul came sniffing around, you two were always flirting back and forth. You guys used to be friends.”
I shake my head. “Miles and I were never friends; he is simply friends with your brother, which meant he was always just around when we all hung out. He couldn’t stand me even then, which is why I’d flirt with him in the first place. It’s as easy as that.”
* * *
“It’s a terrible plan, and not just because she’s my brother’s ex. Not just because when they were dating, I was never able to look at them together and not feel a soul-crushing level of jealousy. It’s why any time she was in Seaside Point last summer, I worked overtime, avoiding going anywhere but work and home.
The first summer they were together was torture enough. I couldn’t put myself through it a second time.”
* * *
“I confided in him when I was drunk three years ago that I thought his sister’s best friend from out of town was hot, even if she was way too young for me.”

first of all, just wanted to say the biggest thank you to Morgan’s team for sending me an early release copy of this! 💖 i have loved her books so much and was so incredibly excited to have received this one 🥰.

however, i do have to say that unfortunately this one just wasn’t for me, and that might partially be due to my location. it took me quite a few weeks to get into this one as it’s just about to go into winter her in Aus, so i wasn’t really vibing with it. i will say that if you are in the northern hemisphere and are getting into the warmer months you will definitely love this!

the other element i wasn’t the biggest fan of its honestly the ex’s brother trope but that’s just a personal preference! if you enjoy the trope, again, i think you will enjoy this one more than i did 💖🫶🏼

overall, a solid summer read. 3⭐️ and 3🌶️. enjoy my thoughts while reading:

- tropes: lifeguard, ex boyfriend’s brother, grumpy x sunshine, roommates

- aesthetic: summer, lifeguard, mechanic, fruit loops, hermit crabs, dolphins

- omg i didn’t realise this was Nate’s sister Claire!!!

- aww the shells 🥹 he’s gonna be a cutie

- awww the cereals he got her 😩 i love this man

- bahahah Magot the emotional support water bottle 😂😂

- i don’t care how many times i read it. i was ALWAYS FOLD for the ‘it’s the view/sunrise amazing?’ from the fmc, then the mmc saying ‘it’s fucking beautiful’ BUT HE’S LOOKING AT HER I WILL CRUMBLE EVERYTIME 😭😭😭💖

- BAHAHAHAHAH THE HERMIT CRABS

- THIS MAN OH MY GODDDDD 😩🔥🔥

- “if i wanted you on your knees, id just have to say the word and you know it Miles” “then say the word” IM YELLINGGGGG

- them fkn on the lifeguard chair is CRAZY OML 🔥🔥🔥🔥

- ava and claire 🤝

- idk y’all back door play just ain’t it if im not vibing the couple

- gets brownie points for the troy bolton mention

➸summer romance
➸ex's brother
➸roommates to lovers
➸grumpy/sunshine
➸age gap

Claire's plan is to have one last carefree summer and, along the way, hopefully, figure out what she wants to do with her life. Miles is busting his ass to gain more money and save his granny's house. These two had crush on each other for years but you know "right person, wrong time". So, now they are roommates and they're going to have the funniest summer ever.

What can I say, it was a perfect beach read. Cute, fun and lighthearted. However summer bucket list and hermit crabs deserved more screen time.

Tourist Trap is the PERFECT summertime read for all romance lovers. I devoured this book and couldn't put it down once I started. Claire and Miles are pretty much complete opposites, but their are perfect for each other. I love that Claire is in her mid-twenties and owns that she still isn't quit sure what she wants to do with the rest of her life. She is so easy going and always determined to have a good time. I honestly wish I was a little more like her. Miles is a bit of a grump, but he has been dealing with his awful brother's BS for way too long. Claire and Miles bring out the best in each other. I love their unending support for each other and I love that Claire brings out the fun and adventurous side of Miles that he's been keeping stashed away. Claire was also one of the funniest FMC's I've ever read. Her crazy antics and fun adventures keep you on your toes and her sassy banter is hilarious. This book was so fun from start to finish and I can't recommend it enough. It could easily be the hot read of the summer!

If you loved Passenger Princess then HOLD ONTO YOUR HATS because the bar is even higher!!! I am feral, foaming at the mouth kind of feral, for Claire and Miles and i will be (not so) gently forcing everyone I know to read this!!!

This book is 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 wrapped and tied with a little bow! After finishing I immediately needed to book my next beach trip! 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘣𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳, 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘱𝘪𝘤𝘦, 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘸𝘰𝘰𝘯 10/10 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘧𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 🫶🏼

Claire Donovan is a girls girl to her core. She's 𝙟𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙖 𝙜𝙞𝙧𝙡 with an emotional support water bottle trying to have hot girl summer. She is 𝗮𝗯𝘀𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀 and the way she tortures Miles is so entertaining I found myself laughing at my kindle in public places!

Miles Miller is the man of my dreams. Hes a grumpy gus with a slutty little mustache who is actually secret softie for his woman. Claire drives him absolutely wild in the best way and my god does he have a mouth on him 🥵🥵

If you loved Ava Bordeaux i promise you will fall in love with Claire Donovan and her summer bucket list of shenanigans!

Thank you to Morgan and her team for the ARC and ALC opportunity 🩷

The Tourist Trap was a fun and lighthearted summer read.

It’s dual POVs of the main characters, Claire and Miles. There are also some great tropes like, an age gap, ex boyfriend’s brother, forced proximity and grumpy-sunshine.

The overall premise was entertaining. There was low angst and drama. I absolutely loved the beach side town and the supportive community. All the side characters and their shenanigans were entertaining as well.

The heroine’s journey throughout the story was good. I liked how carefree, passionate and outgoing she was. I will say though, at times she did come off a bit immature.

The romance was cute. There was a bit of push and pull from the hero at first though. The banter, tension and chemistry between them was top-notch though. I just loved how well they worked together and the spice did not disappoint. There was no third act breakup as well.

There were certain aspects towards the end that I wished had been more explored upon but there was still a nice conclusion and epilogue.

Overall, just an enjoyable and easy read.

If you ever wanted to experience what living on my hometown feels like - what that perfect New Jersey summer can do for your sense of self - pick this book up.

📕 𝗕𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Tourist Trap by Morgan Elizabeth

📙 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀: Standalone

📗 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗗𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘀: E-book ARC on Kindle. 🆓 on KU.

📘 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗿𝗲: Contemporary romance

📔 𝗧𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝘀: Frenemies-to-lovers, age gap, just for the summer, forced proximity, bucket list.

📖 𝗦𝘆𝗻𝗼𝗽𝘀𝗶𝘀: Claire has always lived her life one chapter at a time - and this chapter is bringing her to the Jersey Shore. Unfortunately, it also features her renting a room for the summer from her ex’s brother, Miles.

🌟 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄: This book is a love letter to the Jersey Shore, and I adored it.

It’s all of your toes in the sand, the sound of the waves, the camaraderie of a small town, that first ice cream of the summer, the ambiance of a crowded beach. I could literally picture people reading on the shore as I turned the pages.

I don’t want to scare any non-Jersey residents away, because even if I didn’t have these connections, the story still slapped. Morgan Elizabeth has a way of writing characters that resist temptation, but ultimately know they’re going to fall in love. She also writes incredible friend groups - usually I am not that into side characters, but she makes them feel like family.

The chemistry and banter between Miles and Claire was perfect. I love a sunshine, chaotic girl, and the grumpy man she brings to life. There’s no third act breakup, just a solid story and heart-happy romance.

4.3/5✨
3.5/5🌶️

I've read many books by the author and they were really fun, so it was pretty obvious that I would want to read this one too. Of course, I need to thank Morgan and Booked With Rae for making that possible, by offering me this advanced copy🥰.

Claire ended up things with her ex boyfriend Paul and having the opportunity to spend some time with her best friends and to be a summertime lifeguard sounded perfect for her. That's why she was now back in Seaside Point, a shore town in New Jersey, were she also saw again the guy who stole her heart before Paul. But guess what? Miles was Paul's older brother and that's why Claire couldn't even dream of having something more with him, still being affected by her former relationship. But will they be able to keep their hands to themselves?🤭

The fact that Claire and Miles had a tensioned past was obvious from the first time I notice them interacting. There was something profound there, some unspoken feelings which were the reason of all those many bantering moments between Claire and Miles. But besides the romance and steamy parts, Miles had to deal with the ugly part of his life because of his brother, who was determined to have his way and make Mile's life a hell..

There were so many elements in this book which made me feel like I was already in the middle of the summer, maybe on a beach somewhere, enjoying this fun, spicy, with a bit of drama story.

💋 It’s Always Been You

Claire is an absolute force of nature! Her fun-loving, chaotic, and flirtatious energy made her incredibly relatable. I instantly connected with her journey of navigating life in search of true happiness. Miles initially draws you in with that sexy scowl, but once he lets his guard down, it's game over. His protective and (in the best way) possessive nature is incredibly appealing, but the moment he starts to truly speak his mind? SWOON. He's book boyfriend perfection with a mustache.

More than just fun and games, this story beautifully captures the journey of self-discovery in a deep and meaningful way. I admired the courage it took for Claire to forge her own path, despite what her family around her believed she should do. Claire's summer in Seaside Point was exactly what she needed, finding love and unwavering support not only from Miles but from the entire charming beach town. This is definitely a spin on your standard small town romance trope. With the beachside/Jersey Shore vibes, it really sets itself apart from other small town romances on the market.

Thank you to Morgan Elizabeth and Valentine PR for the opportunity to read this digital ARC. All opinions expressed are my own.

Another fun romcom by Morgan Elizabeth!

Claire is fresh off a breakup from her ex Paul. And she really doesn't know what to do with herself. The baby of her family, she just has no idea and has been popping from one job to the next. Which isn't a bad thing, she's very happy she's just a little lost.

Her best friend suggests she come visit for the summer before she buckles down to figure her life out. And her new boss knows of a place she can stay. With her ex's brother!

Oh goodness, yes. Forced proximity, age gap, small town... Miles is the opposite nof Claire. He has a lot riding on his shoulders, trying to keep his grandmother's house. He has no time for relationships or fun. Claire? She makes it a point to have fun wherever she goes.

Such opposites. But we see early on what a caretaker Miles is. Even though at first we see the side that doesn't get Claire, we see the side that wants to take care of her. So hot.

I love how carefree Claire brings Miles out. The further along we read, the more we know about Miles and how he feels.

But can two opposites fit together? And what about that ex? (ugh!)

This was pure summer romance perfection. The tropes in this: ex’s older brother, age gap, grumpy x sunshine and forced proximity were done so right. I didn’t want to leave the charming shore town setting and world with Claire and Miles. ☀️🐚🌊🛟 Claire was this wandering girl, kind of figuring life out and I really related to her. She’s carefree and just full of good energy. I especially loved the summer bucket list she made to help Miles loosen up and enjoy life a bit more, it was so thoughtful and cute. And then there’s Miles…sigh. He is the definition of a book boyfriend and I’m in love. Grumpy but secretly soft, protective, kind, and vulnerable. The way he would do anything for Claire totally tugged at my heartstrings.

This book had everything I love wrapped up in one story. Absolutely adored it.

Tourist Trap was such a fun summer read! 🐚💕 I always enjoy Morgan’s books because they’re truly so much fun and always have a great cast of characters. I really liked the New Jersey coastal setting in this one and how our main character is returning to this little town that she’s spent so many summers at. However, I did struggle connecting to Claire (fmc) I found her annoying and she kept saying phrases like “I’m just a girl!” at her grown age of 26 (27?) and just a lot of other cringey dialogue which took me out of the story 😬 I’m sorry!! I’m a sucker for grump though so of course I loved Miles and the soft spot he had for Claire.

Thank you to Morgan Elizabeth for the early copy / being apart of the content team! 🌊

It's giving sunny days ahead, comfort reads. So sweet summer love, pick this one up if you are in the mood for contemporary rom that is the tourist town, sandy beaches, and moments of oops, fell for my exs brother, kind of love.

This was such a fun read — summer vibes & spice were *chef’s kiss*. As a hopeless romantic from NJ, there’s nothing I ever daydreamed about more than a summer down the shore full of romance & nightly beach walks!! Claire is living my dream 💘

Claire is our sunshiney, chaotic, super flirty FMC who doesn’t really know what she wants to do with life but she’s figuring it out & not letting anyone ruin her fun.

Miles is our grumpy, boring MMC who’s so in his head about life and responsibilities that he forgot how to have fun & how to just live life for himself. He’s all work and no play when Claire comes into town on a mission to complete a summer bucket list that he gets wrapped into 🤭

Also side note: I could not stop raving about my love for Morgan’s “Passenger Princess” and Claire automatically reminded me so much of Ava. I was SO HAPPY to see the Evergreen Park characters make an appearance!! 🫶🏻

♡ dual POV
♡ grumpy x sunshine
♡ ex’s older brother
♡ roommates!!!
♡ found family
♡ bucket list, seashells & hermit crabs 🐚

💌 Thank you Morgan Elizabeth and Booked with Rae for the eARC. ♡

🎧AUDIOBOOK REVIEW

I'm freaking in love with this book.

This was exactly what I needed to get me out of a life slump, and the pure joy I got while listening to this... perfection.

Let me start off by saying, the narration on this one is fantastic.

Sebastian York and CJ Bloom crushed it as Miles and Claire.
They got these characters perfectly right!

✨summer beach town
✨age gap
✨brother's ex
✨grumpy x sunshine
✨he falls first
✨forced proximity

Now onto the book. Oh how I loved it! Morgan writes the best FMCS, they are part chaios, part sunshine and 100% girls girls. And I want Claire as my BFF.

She and Miles are the perfect grumpy x sunshine combo. And Miles is SO GRUMPY. Claire had to goad him into a bucket list just to have fun. And this man TORTURES himself not giving into the way he wants her. Because HE WANTS HER Our grumpy boy is so ridiculously down bad. And I was here for his journey.

Basically this book is so many must needed summer vibes and I dare you to read this and not kick your feet in giddy joy.
Also, it made me want to be a lifeguard just so I could do naughty things in the lifeguard chairs 🥵
