What if the government doesn’t want a cure? An E.L. Loraine and Tim Frasier release. A blinding light in the Southwestern sky changed everything. Nothing worked anymore and all Alexis could do was hope that her boyfriend and fellow scientist Jackson would still head to New Orleans for their week end together. She couldn’t help thinking the worldwide pockets of viral outbreaks and this were somehow connected. If she and Jackson combined their efforts just maybe they could stop this before it became an epidemic. Alexis was stuck on the road alone and it wasn’t long before she realized it was too late; they couldn’t out run a virus. If the world was over run all they could do was to figure out how to survive and keep the uninfected from becoming, mindless, flesh eating monsters. Now there’s something else, a mutation a strain of virus the government doesn’t want to cure and they want Alexis and Jackson to help them harness it. They aren’t about to let that happen. The world and character building of best-selling author E.L. Loraine with the specialty horror telling skills of Tim Frasier has combined in this dystopian – Pathogen. It’s chilling in an all to believable way.
I grew up in a small northern Minnesotan town married my high school sweetheart, had two beautiful children and as soon as we could we moved to a warmer climate. I have worked with my husband building and decorating custom homes for years. After loving every kind of vampire book, movie and series I decided that I wanted to know more. I can write a book I thought, how hard can that be? Well.... But I stuck to it and finished my first book Royal Blood Chronicles Book One in August 2009. I now have ten books and three novellas in the Royal Blood Chronicles, two in Phantom Lives, three in the adult dystopian Pathogen series, two in h thriller/mystery series Silken Ties, with Corporate Ties and Thorns of Revenge and 25 books in total. My parents always told me that I could do anything that I wanted, work hard, study and do it right. I believe that and live that way every day.
I started writing this new vampire series for teens and their moms because I myself wanted something different to read. I was tired of all the modern versions of vampire books, there had to be more to these long lived beings. Where had they been what had they seen? I wanted, no I NEEDED to know more so Royal Blood Chronicles was born! As in Royal Blood Chronicles, Phantom Lives features strong female characters and action and adventure mixed with romance, friendship and a historical backdrop
Overall a decent prequel. I did like the plot, but I had a hard time connecting the characters because we had A LOT of people introduced. I really enjoyed Carrie’s story.
I haven’t read that many zombie books, so I can’t really claim to have a lot of experience with the topic. I am however, one of the millions bitten by the “Walking Dead “bug, and I really did like the idea behind the book.
A few minor spelling mistakes. And I would have like a little clearer way of showing who was who, when reading.
I read an advanced copy for an honest review, that said, I will also purchase a copy because it's that good....E. L. Loraine and Tim Frasier put a new twist on an apocalyptic story. Pathogen is a riveting story and will have you on an emotional roller coaster. I was on the edge of my seat, mad and even laughing through this story. Alexis is a scientist who wants to cure the "evils" created in labs by a rogue government. Jackson is a scientist from Texas, who happens to be her boyfriend, who has a secret that he doesn't want to keep from her. They plan to meet in New Orleans. Only things don't go as planned. The US comes under attack and people begin to change. Alexis knows if she can get to New Orleans Jackson will come for her. Jackson and a team of soldiers set out to bring Alexis to the base because she may be able to find a cure. As their journey's begin....they find things never go as planned
I was given a copy of Pathogen by E.L. Loraine for an honest review... E.L. Loraine writes many different types of books. Pathogen surprised me because I didn't think that she would write a type of book like this. Pathogen is a zombie story, but it has a love story behind it. There is my new favorite word - FUBB. A blinding light has been seen over the Southwest. Alexis was on the road going to visit her boyfriend Jackson. At first she has no idea what happened, but ends up figuring it out. Alexis and Jackson end up finding each other and so many things go in in a short period of time. They also discover that the government wants to use them to keep the virus going. This zombie story is a must read. E.L. Loraine puts in her writing style along with Tim Frasier and they both came up with a story that is great to read and makes you think. And FUBB is a word that is great way to describe it all.
Pathogen reminded me of the movie "The Day After". It was horrifyingly real and made something that we don't want to think too hard about come to life.
This book has everything, science, politics, love, loss and so much more. I was moved by many of the scenes and quite surprised at how fast the problems seemed to pile up for our hero.
Many times we try to push reality to the side and hold onto the faith that something bad may or may not happen or be a possibility. Pathogen shoves that theory our of the window and into your face. This is what can happen if people are irresponsible. Period.
5 stars. Tell a friend to check out this sci-fi masterpiece.
Pathogen is a unique mix of ebola breakdown and zombie apocalypse. I give it a 3.5 stars as I liked it...maybe even really liked it. I'll give it credit for keeping me interested to the end despite a few flaws here and there.
There are some really rushed parts with attacks, actions, decisions, even some of the sex that seems to happen way too quickly. It was a bit jarring. Overall, the book is fairly well edited, but not without a number of minor typos and missing/wrong words.
It's defintely worth a read, and I would be interested in reading farther on into the series.
What perfect timing for this book with all the Ebola craziness going on! Props to timing this story perfectly :)
Pathogen is a great one of a kind zombie book with the Ebola twist on top of it. I dived right into this book until I finished. You will for sure want more.
Zombies and hot sex is always a great combination to me with lots of emotions all around. It's a roller coaster of emotions. I truly wish the next one was out, lol. I'll be keeping up on these authors for sure.
this was an awesome new twist on a zombie appocolypse! I loved this new twist and how not all the zombies are the same norm. some are enhanced, super humans. And the love story in between wasn't overbearing on the rest of the story. I cannot ait to read what these two authors write next!
Fast paced read. Characters well developed and the plot is good. Author gives new highlight how monsters are created. Almost zombie like. And everyone is infected different ways. Great start for new series for me to read.
( I was given this as a gift for an honest review. ) I will start out with, read this to find out what FUBB is!! You will love it. I seriously had to make myself stop reading and sleep. Sleep is important, really. This is a fast paced, draw you into the story read. Different take on apocalyptic, virus turned bad genre. The characters, well, the good guys you will love, bad ones, you will wish awful things to happen to them. And sometimes bad things are so very good! I have already bought the 2nd book and the prequel book. Do yourself a favor, buy the books that are out now, savor them and the 3rd book will be out later. You need to set a time limit on reading at night or you will be like I was and look at the clock and you will be shocked that you have to be up in an hour. Eeeek.
It was OK. There could have been a lot more explanation of what was going on, but this was also just a prequel to the main novel, so my issues may be resolved there. I wasn't blown away, but it wasn't bad either.
I enjoyed reading this book. It sets up a great storyline for the series. The only flaw I found is that it's too short. 74 pages!? I received it free, no review required.
