What is the difference between a gift and a curse?

Sayr Rieve has found the secrets of her kingdom and the continent’s bloody past. The whereabouts of her father, the possibility of finding others like her, and the chance to make a life of her own in the Western Palace are all within her reach. Yet she finds herself filled with more questions than ever and as she begins to search for the answers she seeks, she finds others reaching for her, ready to sink their claws into her.

When Sayr is ripped away from the politics of Court, she finds herself with no friends, no royals, and certainly no allies. She quickly finds herself in the center of an oncoming war between two rival kingdoms and a rebel group behind it all. Sayr must fight with more than weapons to bring about peace on the continent. But when the people she loves are fighting on opposing sides, Sayr must choose if she will save the ones she loves, or save the continent from total destruction.

Political intrigue
Deception & secrets
Natural and unnatural magic
Strong FMC
Rebellion
Self-discovery

And the saga continues!! Whoa. Talk about a fantastic fantasy storyline centered around magic and political intrigue. This series is a fantasy lovers’ delight full of adventure, rebellions, and magic. The characters drew me in. The growth our FMC has is amazing. She is truly coming into her powers and trying to carve her own way into this world. The romance is a subplot but we get to see the lengths to which Dimitri will go to find Sayr. Ugh, so stinkin’ sweet.

Let me tell you about our boy, Nax. First, he shows up in her visions in book 1 but she has no idea who he is. Then we meet him in this book and he is part of the rebellion. I can’t spoil it, so let me just say I was not expecting how his character developed. 👀

As with book 1, I read this in one sitting. And that cliffhanger! I am hooked and need book 3 ASAP.

Throne of Exiles delivers an emotional punch wrapped in court politics, magic, and rebellion. Sayr Rieve’s journey deepens in this installment as she uncovers truths that shake the very foundation of her world. With the promise of freedom just within reach, she is instead thrust into isolation and forced to navigate the treacherous path between duty and desire.

What makes this book shine is the way it balances political intrigue with personal stakes. The pacing is taut, the world-building rich, and Sayr’s internal struggles feel heartbreakingly real. She’s no longer just surviving—she’s choosing what, and who, is worth fighting for.

The tension builds toward a crescendo as loyalties are tested and a war looms ever closer. At its core, Throne of Exiles is about identity, love, and the high price of power.

If you enjoyed the first book, this sequel does not disappoint. It’s fierce, fast-paced, and unforgettable.

I don’t even know where to start😂 I knew from the first book and gathering information through this second book that everything was going to come to a head and the impact would be huge, but I did NOT expect what was going to happen to happen, and now I am just stunned. I can’t put anything here without spoiling it but Alley is a super good writer and her books are going to pull you in! She builds the world perfectly! I became SO invested in the characters and the plot and I am now grappling for more WOW😅😭 I can’t wait for the next book in this series and I just know that it has the potential to be up there with so many of our favorite fantasy series that we all rave about!!

Uh oh sayr losing her mind. Rip Tomas…naz turned him to ash. WTF the evolved had Lilith imprisoned this whole time since the battle at western palace… And so NAZ is the one who made a deal with Lilith and she helped them get into palace… but Omfg naz has made Lilith manipulate sayr this whole damn time??? But I thought she wasn’t affected… and this whole book she’s been normal?

Also once again i wish the writing was just better because the story is very good. I look forward to book 3!!

WOOOW. Okay, I must just be impatient because all of my previous concerns after Crown of Blood were addressed splendidly.

What a BOMBSHELL of an ending. I knew something seemed off about Naz. Just another corrupt person in power trying to use Sayr. OVER IT. I need the rescue to happen ASAP. And Sayr has some sort of plan too so she’s not all gone.

I’m also so glad that Sayr has gotten such a better grasp of her powers.

Lanni betraying her mother? YES

I thought book one was amazing. Book two was even better!!
There was adventure. Romance. Fighting. Betrayal. Politics.
Sneaking. Emotional damage. It has it everything I could have wanted an more
We got to uncover a whole new side of the Elemental v Non-Elemental struggle and add in a third hand to the mix. magic system and world building is like nothing I have ever seen.
This book showed us three separate quests and I was rooting for them all:
-Sayr's journey
-Marenda's journey
-Dimitri's journey
I am absolutely SHOCKED by the ending and cannot wait to read the next book! Alley Rehfeldt is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors.

Wow! Book 1 was good, but this is fantastic! So much more world building and expansion of the Magic system. Every time I think I know what’s going on, something else gets revealed. Lots more political drama, intrigue, and betrayals. Still not sure who we are suppose to trust, and I love it. What a cliffhanger ending too! I need book 3

I had a few doubts since book 1 wasn't the best for me, but BOY OH BOY was I on for a ride! 😍 this book was so good, plots and twists at every turn. I can't even trust anyone anymore though. 😂 I do wish we got a bit more romance until the end but that doesn't take away from the story as a whole, and the ending left me craving for a third book. 🙃 Amazing!
